    A mathematical model, describing the dependence of the composition of the vapour resulting from the liquid composition for a positive azeotrope [formula] and a negative azeotrope [formula] is discussed. These models were used for calculating the differential distillation process for the material balance of the composition [formula] and [formula] obtained of D/S positive azeotrope [formula] and negative azeotrope [formula], where az - azeotropic concentration, alpha - volatility coefficient. Results were obtained for 52 systems, and the values of alpha and az are given in Table 1. For the same concentration, adopted by the authors: [formula], obtained the dependence of the quantity of plates of the rectifying column as a function of relative volatility: [formula].

    The wide spread use of 1,3,4-oxadiazoles as a scaffold in medicinal chemistry establishes this moiety as an important bioactive class of heterocycles. In the present study ultrasonic velocity (u), density (ρ) and viscosity (η) have been measured at frequency 2 MHz in the binary mixtures of 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives in acetone at 303.15 K using ultrasonic interferometer technique. The measured value of ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity have been used to estimate the acoustical parameters namely adiabatic compressibility (βad), relaxation time (τ), acoustic impedance (Zi), free length (Lf), free volume (Vf) and internal pressure (πi), with a view to investigate the nature and strength of molecular interactions. The obtained result support the occurrence of molecular association through hydrogen bonding in the binary liquid mixtures.

    Opis:
    Influence of the binary mixtures of fluorocarbon surfactants Zonyl FSO-100  (FSO100) and Zonyl FSN-100 (FSN100) on the surface tension of the water was studied. The effectiveness of adsorption process of the surfactant at the water-air interface was calculated from the obtained values of the surface tension of studied mixtures. Also the maximum surface area per molecule of surfactant in the interfacial area  and the free energy at the water-air interface  were determined. Moreover, the existence of synergetizm or antagonism effect, which reduces the surface tension of the water was examined. On the basis of the Rosen's model parameter the values of intermolecular interactions in the mixed monolayer adsorption were calculated.

    Sound velocity, densities of binary mixture of Tetrahydropyran (THP) with 1-hexanol has been measured over the entire range of composition at T = 298.15 to 318.15 K. The excess parameters viz., excess sound velocity, deviations in isentropic compressibility, excess molar volume, excess free length and excess acoustic impedance are deduced from experimental values and discussed intermolecular interactions present in the mixture. At the end all the parameters have been fitted to Redlich-Kister equation and their coefficients are obtained.

    Introduction and Objective. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signalling pathway plays a central role in the regulation of cellular response to stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the ability of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), CdTe quantum dots (CdTeQDs) or their binary mixtures to stimulate NF-κB binding in HepG2 cells. A dual luciferase reporter system was used to investigate NF-κB binding. Materials and method. Cells were transiently transfected with a firefly luciferase reporter system and Renilla luciferase expression plasmid as a transfection efficiency control. Twenty- four hours after transfection, the cells were treated with nanoparticles (10 µg/cm3 AgNPs, 10 µg/cm3 AuNPs, 3 µg/cm3 CdTeQDs) or with 10 ng/cm3 TNFα as a positive control. Six hours later, the cells were lysed and the activities of the luminescence of firefly and Renilla luciferases were measured using the Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay System. Results. AuNPs and CdTeQDs alone significantly inhibited NF-κB binding activity. Co-treatment with AgNPs and CdTeQDs resulted in an additive effect, whereas the presence of AgNPs diminished the inhibitory effect of AuNPs. Interestingly, significant antagonism was observed between AuNPs and CdTeQDs, suggesting a similar mode of action. Conclusions. Comparison of the NF-κB binding activity induced by the mixtures of NPs suggests that in some cases NF-κB binding activity might differ from that observed for the NPs alone.

    Ultrasonic velocity is measured experimentally at 3MHz frequency in the binary liquid mixture containing aniline and anisole at different temperatures over the entire composition range and theoretical values of ultrasonic velocity have been evaluated by using Nomoto’s relation, Impedance relation, Van Dael ideal mixture relation. These theoretical values are compared with the experimental values. A good agreement has been found between experimental and theoretical ultrasonic velocities.

    The speed of sound and density in binary liquid mixture of diethyl carbonate + benzonitrile, + benzaldehyde have been determined at temperatures 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K over the whole composition range. The data have been utilized to estimate the excess adiabatic compressibility (βE), excess intermolecular free length (Lf E), excess speed of sound (uE) at the above temperatures. The excess values have been found to be useful in estimating the strength of the interactions in the liquid mixtures.

    There are presented results of investigation of electrostatic separation of binary mixtures containing a biodegradable polymer {polylactide (PLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), or poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3,4HB)]} and a commonly used polymer [poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) or poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)]. It was found that the binary mixtures of these polymers could be efficiently separated. The electrostatic separation process of the P(3,4HB)/PET mixture appeared to be most successful. It is indicated that the share of a biodegradable component in the mixture essentially influences the separation effects. Therefore, suitable choice of necessary conditions is needed to perform the separation process, which includes appropriate separator settings, depending on fractions of individual components in the mixture being separated.
    W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań procesu separacji elektrostatycznej mieszanin dwuskładnikowych zawierających polimery biodegradowalne {polilaktyd (PLA), polikaprolakton (PCL) lub poli(3-hydroksymaślan-co-4-hydroksymaślan) [P(3,4HB)]} i polimery powszechnego użytku [poli(chlorek winylu) (PVC) lub poli(tereftalan etylenu) (PET)]. Stwierdzono, że mieszaniny tych polimerów mogą być skutecznie rozdzielane w tym procesie. Najbardziej efektywna okazała się separacja mieszaniny P(3,4HB)/PET. Z badań wynika również, że najistotniejszym czynnikiem wpływającym na skuteczność tej separacji jest udział masowy składnika biodegradowalnego w danej mieszaninie. Z tych względów wymagany jest odpowiedni dobór warunków prowadzenia separacji elektrostatycznej, w tym nastaw separatora w zależności od udziału poszczególnych składników mieszaniny rozdzielanej.

    The status of the theory of isotope mixture separation in cascades is presented. The problems that limit the concept of an ideal cascade in the case of separation of binary mixtures and arbitrary separation factors at cascade stages are discussed. A new type of separating cascades which have a total flow less than the flow of the corresponding ideal cascade is presented. Furthermore, these “optimum” cascades may permit mixing concentrations and still produce higher cascade separative work. In the paper, a criterion to define efficiency for the separation of multi-isotope mixtures is analyzed. The analysis is based on the concept of the match-abundance ratio cascade (MARC). The approach has demonstrated that in order to obtain the optimum parameters of a single stage in a cascade it is necessary to minimize the linear combination of the inverse values of “partial separative powers” for all mixture components.

    Ultrasonic velocities calculated from various theories and relations like Nomoto's relation, Van dael ideal mixing relation, Impedance relation, Rao's specific velocity relation and Jungie's theory are compared with experimental values in binary liquid mixtures o-anisidine with o-cresol at temperatures 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15 K over the entire mole fraction range. The relative applicability of these theories to the present system is checked and discussed. A good agreement is observed between experimental and theoretical values. The results are explained in the light of molecular interactions occuring in these mixtures.

    Opis:
    The numerical modelling of chloride diffusion in concrete structures requires an appropriate description of input parameters. The main inputs for the model are the diffusion coefficient of concrete and derived aging factor. The model itself can be susceptible to the values of these parameters because of the size of the finite elements and size of the time step. Due to the potential use in probabilistic calculations, which requires millions of simulations, it is desirable to create a highly optimized model. It is important to pay attention to the accuracy of the calculation, but also to its calculation time. The presented results show the possible limits of the finite element model of the diffusion in a concrete structure. This is demonstrated on the reference ordinary Portland cement mixture and 32 various binary and ternary concrete mixtures, which show a significant effect of different diffusion coefficients and aging factors on the overall convergence. This study provides guidance on which extreme material parameters, out of the potential range, may adversely affect model results.

    The Internal pressures of Ternary and their sub-Binary liquid mixtures of benzene(1) + hexane(2) + sec-butyl alcohol(3) were calculated using density, velocity and molar refraction from the temperature range of 303.15K-318.15K. For the Binary liquid mixtures, the Experimental Internal pressure values were correlated through an equation proposed by Andiappan et.al. For the Ternary liquid mixture, the Experimental Internal pressure values were correlated through an equation proposed by us. The Experimental values and the Theoretical values are in close agrement with each other.
