The main purpose of this article is to prepare an appropriate plan for the development of the infrastructure of the Bieszczady region for the use of electric cars as the primary means of mass and private transport for residents and tourists in the Bieszczady region. Over the next few years, electric cars will be available to an increasing number of people, thanks to more affordable purchase costs. This is made possible due to the dissemination of technology on the market and the emergence of increasing competition in individual segments of the automotive industry. The decisive condition will be the appropriate infrastructural facilities – i.e., chargers for electric cars, both those “fast” for direct current (DC) and “slow” for alternating current (AC). The development of infrastructure directly contributes to the purchasing decisions of electric cars made by residents of a given territory or people traveling through a given country with their own cars in the context of potential supplementation of electricity. In the first part, a review of the literature on the topic of electric cars is introduced. The second part presents the Bieszczady region in the context of electromobility implementation. In the last part, a detailed analysis of the region’s infrastructure (roads and car parks) is prepared, and, as a consequence, places are selected where the construction of a charging station would be justified. During point selection, the key parameters are the current condition of the road and parking infrastructure, the number of residents and tourists in a given zone of the region, and the strategic importance of the region. This article presents a detailed infrastructure analysis of locations where charging stations could be installed, including their amounts and power, in the Bieszczady region. The latter is divided into communes (i.e., Ustrzyki Dolne, Czarna, and Lutowiska), which provide a total of 14 locations, 55 stations, and 113 charging points.

Armoring civilian vehicles requires specialized knowledge and experience that many armoring companies lack as they are not direct or indirect suppliers of vehicle manufacturers. This limits their access to automotive quality and manufacturing certifications or detailed vehicle designs, which can result in loss or malfunctioning of automotive components during the armoring process. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the challenges faced by Brazilian civilian armoring companies and identify opportunities for improvement in their production processes. Qualitative research was conducted using a questionnaire-based survey of eight specialized firms in Brazil, as well as literature related to DFMA, design for manufacturing and assembly, quality, automotive, and ballistic references. The study results in clude detailed armoring operation steps, qualitative survey reports, and helpful literature references for armoring practitioners to generate a standard armoring procedure for different vehicle models. Following best practices in automotive and armoring procedures collected in the survey responses can standardize and enhance ballistic protection operations while preserving the original vehicle systems’ functionalities and warranties. This work provides valuable information for armoring companies to improve their operations and interfaces with automotive systems and follow automotive and ballistic references.

The article presents the most important causes of the unstable connection between cast iron ring inserts and the silumin casting of an engine piston. It is shown that manufacturing defects are mainly related to the alfin processing of inserts in Al-Si alloy (the so-called AS9 alloy). Exceeding the permissible iron content in AS9 alloy causes the crystallization of brittle -Al5FeSi phases. Their unfavorable morphology and large size are the main reasons for the weakening of the diffusion connection between the inserts and the piston, causing an unacceptable proportion of defective products. The study presented in this work was conducted under industrial conditions on a population of 10.000 pistons. Quality control data, production parameters, as well as the micro- and macro-structures of the cast iron inserts, and the interface area between the inserts and the silumin piston, were analyzed. Material and technological solutions have been proposed to reduce the occurrence of casting defects at the insert-piston joint. This includes the introduction of so-called "morphological correctors" of the -Al5FeSi phases, reducing the possibility of gaseous impurities in the AS9 alloy and optimizing the temperature of the alfin alloy.

Theoretical background: The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is the largest mega-regional trade agreement ever signed, accounting for more than 30% of the global population, exports, and gross domestic product (GDP). It is also the largest automotive market worldwide, with significant potential both in terms of automotive manufacturing and sales. Purpose of the article: The paper’s main objective is to characterize China-RCEP automotive trade in the years 2012–2021 with reference to key provisions and implications of the aforementioned mega-regional trade agreement for the automotive industry. In the empirical part of the paper, the authors attempt to verify the hypothesis that trade liberalization under RCEP may contribute to the expansion of the regional automotive industry in terms of trade volume, as well as fragmentation of value and supply chains. Research methods: The authors conducted an analysis of intra-industry trade disaggregated into 54 six-digit HS tariff codes using the Grubel–Lloyd and Balassa indexes, accompanied by cross sectional analysis and studies of sectoral reports and literature in the field of mega-regionalism in trade. Main findings: The hypothesis formulated in the introduction of the paper was verified positively –the authors provided an added value to previous empirical studies on RCEP, in the form of a perspective of the automotive industry and in-depth analysis of sectoral trends for the last ten years. The potential for further fragmentation of value and supply chains inside the region was identified, including the possibility of relocation of manufacturing and assembly activities to lower the cost of RCEP Member States to strengthen comparative advantages over extra-regional counterparts (EU, USMCA). The authors pointed at the prospective rising attractiveness of RCEP in automotive manufacturers’ location decisions worldwide, considering both costs, retreat from global-oriented manufacturing and export strategies, investment security, sustainable development, as well as geopolitical trends in respect of newly established tariff and non-tariff barriers.

The article discusses the requirements for measurement systems in the automotive industry. Meeting these requirements is possible, among others, through the use of the PPAP procedure, which includes the analysis of measurement systems – the so-called MSA (8 points PPAP). The overriding goal of analyzing measurement systems is improvement. The measurement system fulfills an important function in the production process, because each decision of the operator (assessor) entails a specific benefit or loss for the organization. MSA for non-measurable features, described in this article based on the Kappa method, is used when the product is assessed and not measured (most often there are two categories in the assessment according to the adopted criteria: 0 – non-conforming product, 1 – compliant product).

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of the quality audit process in the automotive industry based on literature reviews. The paper consists of an introduction, four sections and a conclusion. The paper presents the issue of quality management in the automotive industry based on the requirements of the international ISO standard, including VDA guideline 6.3 (Verband der Automobilindustrie). A case study is used to illustrate the activities of a company producing car body components. The process of auditing the production process in the automotive industry is discussed using the example of the sheet steel forming process in the light of international quality standards. An analysis of non-compliance in this process based on the international automotive quality standard is presented
Celem artykułu jest omówienie znaczenia procesu audytu jakości w branży motoryzacyjnej na podstawie studiów literaturowych. Artykuł składa się ze wstępu, czterech rozdziałów oraz podsumowania. W pracy została zaprezentowana problematyka zarządzania jakością w branży motoryzacyjnej w oparciu o wymagania międzynarodowej normy ISO, w tym wytycznej VDA 6.3 (Verband der Automobilindustrie). Na podstawie badania typu case study przedstawiono działalność przedsiębiorstwa zajmującego się produkcją elementów karoserii samochodowych. Omówiono proces audytu procesu produkcji w branży motoryzacyjnej na przykładzie procesu tłoczenia stalowych blach w świetle międzynarodowych standardów jakości. Zaprezentowano analizę niezgodności w tym procesie na podstawie międzynarodowego standardu jakości w branży motoryzacyjnej.

Research background: In a modern economy, full of complexities, ensuring a business' financial stability, and increasing its financial performance and competitiveness, has become especially difficult. Then, monitoring the company's financial situation and predicting its future development becomes important. Assessing the financial health of business entities using various models is an important area in not only scientific research, but also business practice. Purpose of the article: This study aims to predict the bankruptcy of companies in the engineering and automotive industries of the Slovak Republic using a multilayer neural network and logistic regression. Importantly, we develop a novel an early warning model for the Slovak engineering and automotive industries, which can be applied in countries with undeveloped capital markets. Methods: Data on the financial ratios of 2,384 companies were used. We used a logistic regression to analyse the data for the year 2019 and designed a logistic model. Meanwhile, the data for the years 2018 and 2019 were analysed using the neural network. In the prediction model, we analysed the predictive performance of several combinations of factors based on the industry sector, use of the scaling technique, activation function, and ratio of the sample distribution to the test and training parts. Findings & value added: The financial indicators ROS, QR, NWC/A, and PC/S reduce the likelihood of bankruptcy. Regarding the value of this work, we constructed an optimal network for the automotive and engineering industries using nine financial indicators on the input layer in combination with one hidden layer. Moreover, we developed a novel prediction model for bankruptcy using six of these indicators. Almost all sampled industries are privatised, and most companies are foreign owned. Hence, international companies as well as researchers can apply our models to understand their financial health and sustainability. Moreover, they can conduct comparative analyses of their own model with ours to reveal areas of model improvements.

In many companies, along with the economic development, the use of integrated management systems is becoming more and more common, which are subject to evolution in terms of, inter alia, offered functions and new user requirements. The main purpose of this paper is to compare selected ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems in the field of production planning and control on the example of the automotive industry. The paper presents the contemporary functioning of the automotive industry against the background of issues related to the integrated management systems used in them. The research part presents the proprietary methodology for the assessment of IT systems used in the automotive industry, which included a user survey. The obtained score allowed to indicate the optimal ERP class system supporting production planning and control.

The article presents retrospections of technological solutions for the construction of vehicles and adaptive devices used by drivers with disabilities. The author explored the subject using the method of historiographic analysis to collect and report the research material indicated in this study, taking into account the perspective of the development of science in this field. The study contains a dozen or so examples of vehicles that were constructed in the years 1945–2000, adaptive devices, microcars and autonomous vehicles dedicated to people with disabilities. The main purpose of the work was to draw attention to the trend in the development of simple technical solutions based on motorcycle mechanics to more complex autonomous vehicles. The direction in which the development of the automotive industry is heading is optimistic, although it still requires attention to be payed to certain aspects that will affect the use of the technological potential hidden in its capabilities. The study does not describe adaptive devices on the scale that is used, but rather shows that these measures were not perfect and were not based on relevant mobility needs.

W pracy przedstawiono innowacje w przemyśle oponiarskim. Największym odbiorcą wyrobów gumowych jest przemysł motoryzacyjny. Guma jest wykorzystywana do produkcji opon samochodowych i innych elementów znajdujących się w samochodach, tj.: elementy zawieszenia, wycieraczki, węże, uszczelki w kabinie, komorze silnikowej czy silnikach i skrzyni biegów. Rozwój nowoczesnych technologii oraz dbałość o środowisko naturalne spowodowały poszukiwanie nowych rozwiązań w technologii opon samochodowych, które stałyby się bardziej nowoczesne, innowacyjne i ekologiczne. Są to innowacje związane ze zdobywaniem nowych źródeł surowców do produkcji opon tj.: elastomerów z biomasy, zrębków drzewnych, kauczuk naturalny z mniszka kok‑sagiz (Taraxum kok‑saghyz) oraz stosowaniem surowców wtórnych. Nowymi rozwiązaniami mogą być także: opony wykorzystujące technologie druku 3D, wprowadzenie czujników połączonych z komputerem pokładowym lub smartfonem. Dzięki takiemu rozwiązaniu kierowca będzie na bieżąco informowany o stanie dróg, jakości opon i będzie mógł kontaktować się z innymi użytkownikami dróg za pomocą nowych technologii. Prezentowane innowacje związane są z wpływem rozwoju nowych i proekologicznych technologii na przemysł oponiarski.
The paper presents innovations in the tire industry. The largest consumer of rubber products is the automotive industry. Rubber is used in the production of car tyres and other components in cars, i.e.: suspension elements wipers, hoses, seals in the cabin, engine compartment or engines and transmission. The development of moderntechnologies and taking care of the natural environment caused the search for new solutions in car tire technology, which would become more modern, innovative and ecological. These are innovations connected with gaining new sources of raw materials for tire production, i.e: elastomers from biomass, or from wood chips, natural rubber of dandelion kok‑saghyz (Taraxum kok‑saghyz), use of recycled material. New solutions may also be: 3D‑printed tires, introducing sensors connected to the on‑board computer or smartphone. Thanks to this solution, the driver will be kept informed about the condition of the roads, the quality of tires and will be able to contact other road users with the help of new technologies. Opis:
The article presents the author’s integrated course, which is directly aimed at the parallel development of students’ soft- and hard-skills who master the profession in the automotive industry. Hard skills formation requires the acquisition of professional knowledge and implementation of instructions that can be tested through the exam. In contract, softskills include general, supra-professional skills (social, intellectual and volitional competencies, sociability, teamwork skills, leadership skills, creativity, punctuality , emotion management skills, etc.). In the coming years, significant changes are forecast in the automotive industry, in the design of heat engines, aimed not only at their improvement in particular, but also at the use of fundamentally new designs and types of engines. Under such conditions, a significant number of specialists will be forced to retrain, in the process of which fundamental training, the formation of softskills in particular, should be a significant help. It is covered a long time to quantify the effectiveness of the integrated special course, and three leading softskills (critical thinking, creativity and cognitive flexibility) are identified. It is concluded that the integration of softand hard skills is an effective means of developing knowledge, skills and thinking, which contributes to improving the professionalism of professionals. The study of the proposed author’s course gives positive changes in the professional competence of future automotive professionals.
