Autism is a disorder that becomes today the subject of many interdisciplinary studies. You can talk about a wide spectrum of autism. It concerns adults, but also children. In the article special attention is paid to autism during preschool and early school age. It should be noted that the term "autism" has enough short history as it appeared in the 40s of the twentieth century. This concept can be understood in three main areas: 1) breaking social ties or limited ability to enter into interpersonal relationships; 2) abnormal communication; 3) stiffness behaviour, restricted repertoire of activities and interests connected with to the lack of imagination. Another element of the article is the presentation of the core symptoms of autism. It is worth noting that autism is reflected by the diversity of its syndromes. It was important to pay special attention to autism. The specificity of childhood autism must be taken into account in the selection of methods situations and psychotherapeutic techniques. The point is that the effectiveness of the therapy does not undermine the fundamental norms and moral principles. One of the basic principles is the trust and respecting professional secrecy. In this context, there is a very important proposal for the therapists and other professionals working with autistic children to constantly work on raising not only professional skills, but also care about raising the moral qualifications.

From the times of Leon Kanner, autism was presented as a clinical image of behaviours. The descriptions were as comprehensive as possible, the diagnostic systems and therapies were optimised, and the analyses of various approaches to the etiology of autism were carried out. The contemporary knowledge is founded mainly on the analyses of behaviours, observations, and experiments. Cognition or self-awareness, which is a priority concept in this matter, can also be seen in the objects human beings create: in this case, people diagnosed with autism. The research was conducted at the turn of 2018 and 2019. The aim of the study was acquiring knowledge of autism perception by the individuals who are affected by ASD and able to communicate, according to the age and sex of the respondents. The research was conducted on 168 individuals diagnosed with autism (90 women and 78 men). The innovative aspect of this project lies in using the netnography method for collecting and analysing data. The findings of the research have helped to expand the knowledge of problems that ASD individuals experience and have allowed the subjects of the research to share their own perspectives, including the effect of social labeling on their position in the society.

Autism is a disorder involving a number of symptoms. It is included in the overall development disorders. The disease is characterized by spreading and progressive behavioural disorders, usually manifesting in early childhood and continuing also through adulthood. Epidemiological data emphasize the importance of the problem and the need to develop studies using modern molecular methods and next-generation sequencing techniques. and in the 1990’s – 10–20 per 10,000. Latest indexes show that child autism and Asperger syndrome affect 1 in 38 children. Recently, there has been published a detailed study on the intestinal microflora in children with autism, showing differences in the spectrum of microorganisms in sick and healthy children. One of the most striking discoveries is the fact that functions of the intestinal microflora and functions of the brain are connected. Therefore, it is possible that microbiome may influence a person’s behaviour and mental health. In the past, the impact of intestinal microflora on the development of autism was ignored, but today it is important. Digestive tract disorders occurring in children with autism can have various natures and locations. As of now, a single autism-specific digestive tract pathology cannot be claimed to exist. As in elimination diets, treatment should be conducted on an individual basis.

This text is an attempt to introduce the issue of the emancipation of autistic people. Autism spectrum disorders are a very heterogeneous category, and a person with such a diagnosis is achieved will vary in the degree of functioning due to the symp-toms and frequently co-morbid physical difficulties and/or mental and intellectual disability. Many examples of people with high functioning autism shows that this group is strongly working for independent living and self determination. Na temat przyczyn zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu przez lata narosło wiele hipotez, które do dzisiaj nie zostały ostatecznie zbadane. Wskazywano wiele powodów, dla których dziecko odbierane było jako odosobnione, zamknięte w swoim świecie. Przełom nastąpił w 1943 roku, kiedy amerykański psychiatra Leo Kanner ogłosił wyniki swoich obserwacji nad jedenaściorgiem dzieci, których zachowanie odbiegało od normy. Wówczas termin „autyzm” zaczął funkcjonować w odniesieniu do zaburzonych zachowań dziecięcych niezwiązanych ze schizofrenią, na co wcześniej wskazywano. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie potencjalnych przyczyn powodujących zaburzenia ze spektrum autyzmu, z uwzględnieniem pierwotnych hipotez oraz współczesnych odkryć. Nie można jednak dyskutować o przyczynach zaburzenia bez wskazania ich objawów, które stanowią fundament mówienia o autyzmie.
Over the course of years a multitude of hypotheses concerning the causes of autism spectrum disorders have accumulated, but only until now these causes have started to be properly understood. There were many reasons proposed as to why the autistic children were seen as isolated, locked in their own world. The breakthrough came in 1943, when Leo Kanner, an American psychiatrist, presented the results of his observations performed on eleven children whose behaviour was different from the norm. Afterwards the term “autism” began to function in relation to disrupted children’s behaviour, distinct to schizophrenia (contrary to what was previously indicated). The aim of this article is to present the potential causes of autism spectrum disorder, including primary hypotheses and contemporary discoveries. However, one cannot speak about the causes of the disorder without indicating its symptoms, so in order to give a foundation for discussion concerning autism I am also going to present the causes of autism.

Gluten is a widely used ingredient which causes viscosity and elasticity of the dough. The toxic effects of gluten found in humans are mainly based on immune reactions. Celiac disease is the most common gluten-dependent disease based on these reactions. One of the commonly used methods of diagnosis of celiac disease is a gluten provocation. Autism is becoming more and more recognized readily form of disability diagnosed in children. It is suggested that this impairment affects 1 in 68 children and is one of the five most common disability in the world. Autism spectrum disorders increasingly focuses scientific interest and raises discussions. Until now, autism often has been considered as a disease and autistic people are wrongly judged as geeks locked in their own world. On the Internet and the social media can be found films showing examples of people behavior affected by this disorder. There are various forums where parents and caregivers of people with autism exchange experiences about diet and treatments described as the "miracle cure". Immediately after the diagnosis of autism parents often decide to introduce their children a variety of diets, including gluten-free diet. They often live in the strong stress and alone in their efforts, and also they are almost deprived of specialist medical care. So the diet is often a selection of desperate parent or guardian, not a treatment supported by medical facts.

Every year the prevalence of Autism Spectrum of Disorders (ASD) is rising. Is there a unifying mechanism of various ASD cases at the genetic, molecular, cellular or systems level? The hypothesis advanced in this paper is focused on neural dysfunctions that lead to problems with attention in autistic people. Simulations of attractor neural networks performing cognitive functions help to assess system long-term neurodynamics. The Fuzzy Symbolic Dynamics (FSD) technique is used for the visualization of attractors in the semantic layer of the neural model of reading. Large-scale simulations of brain structures characterized by a high order of complexity requires enormous computational power, especially if biologically motivated neuron models are used to investigate the influence of cellular structure dysfunctions on the network dynamics. Such simulations have to be implemented on computer clusters in a grid-based architectures.

Measles-mumps vaccinations might be responsible for the development of autism spectrum diseases (ASD), including high functioning autism, such as Asperger’s syndrome; that is what Wakefield et al. suggested in a paper in The Lancet twenty years ago [1]. Later, the Lancet Editors retracted this publication [2], due to the fact that Wakefield had „produced“ fake, falsified results, and that he was implicated in interests regarding material compensation from pharmaceutical companies producing vaccines to families with ASD. The Wakefield publication had the effect that consequently vaccination rates declined dramatically, and fuelled discussions about other environmental factors (bacteria, mercury, pesticides, etc.).

The article presents the case study of a sixteen-year-old girl with autism, who communicates by means of one of alternative and augmentative communication methods: Facilitated Communication, and the analysis of the results of working with the child. The word autism increasingly appears on the lips of most pedagogues, teachers and parents. Why? This disorder is more and more common today in our environment: at school, in the family. The causes of this disease are not well known yet, but there are more and more methods and ways or means of treatment that allow the child with autism to "function as normal" in the society. It is very important to diagnose and start treatment as soon as it is possible. The following article introduces the theoretical aspects of this disorder, such as the concept or symptoms, which have been thoroughly discussed and summarized in a table form.In this article have been described only some of the possible ways to work with autistic children, such as behavioral therapy, Option Method, Activity Plans, sensory integration method. Each of these methods largely supports the development of a child with autism. The article ends with a summary and the conclusion of the theoretical study.

Autism is a vast developmental disorder with significant delays and problems in participation in alternate social interactions. Studies show that nearly half of the population with various forms of autism participates in social life, although their profile of emotional and social deficits remains highly diversified. Impairment within a social sphere includes a limited disposition and ability to recognize, to understand and to engage in human contact and interpersonal communication. Parents /guardians are the first observers of disturbing behaviors of a child and the first initiators of building a close relationship with their offspring. Their observations are the determinants of the criteria of early detection of autism spectrum disorders. The biggest problem for parents is the inability of their children with autism to show affection. The goal of this article is to show the development profile of social relationships of young children with autism in contacts with their relatives and the analysis of conditions in the child – parent attachment relationship in this group of disorders.

THERAPY FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
Opis:
During the past years therapists working with adults have tended to combine basic theoretical streams and create new therapeutic methods (Styla, Jedrasik-Styla, 2009). There are many treatments recommended for children with autism, but they are less integrated on a theoretical level than treatments for adults. In this article common aspects of methods such as applied behavior analysis and sensory integration were presented and possibilities for their theoretical integration were analyzed.

Parenting a child affected by a disorder with vast consequences for functioning such as autism undoubtedly modifies the family’s situation and broadens the scope and essence of parents’ responsibility. Daily experiences connected with facing new, previously unknown, problems are not an easy challenge. On the other hand, they constantly enrich mothers’ awareness related to parenting. The aim of the research was to learn the significant problems, feelings, opinions and reflections arising from the experiences of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders. The research material was collected through free-form interviews with 20 mothers raising autistic children. The analysis of the collected empirical material shows that mothers construct various concepts of parenting, including their own roles and everyday relations with the children. Their early reactions reveal the collapse of the previous vision of parenting and the loss of the real perspective concerning the perception of the child and their own role in child raising. Everyday parenting experiences – full of unique difficulties with building relationships with the children – allow the mothers to constructively seek individual solutions and patterns of coexistence.

The aim of the research presented in this article was to determine the level of parental stress among mothers of autistic children. Thirty-nine mothers of autistic children, forty mothers of children with Down syndrome as well as forty mothers of children with developing normally took part in the study. We used the Questionnaire on Resources and Stress (QRS, designed by J. Holroyd) to assess the parental stress among families of developmentally delayed children or children with intellectual disabilities. The results of the study indicate that, comparing to mothers of children with Down syndrome and mothers of children developing well, mothers of autistic children are the ones who experience the highest level of parental stress. Potential sources of coping strategies among mothers of children that suffer from autism are associated with relatively low stress levels as a result of disharmony within the family, personal issues, the child’s health situation and financial problems.

This paper is an attempt to diagnose the state of knowledge of autism among educators, special educators and students of education. This is particularly important, especially nowadays, when the idea of inclusive education is not only becoming the tendency of educational solutions in Poland , but it soon will be authorized by law (in September 2012 the President of Poland shall sign the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees them the possibility of integration. In the document, the so-called „inclusive education” is considered a priority which is to counteract exclusion.). According to the idea of inclusive education, autistic children may be educated in inclusive schools or traditional schools (it is also referred to in the regulation of the Ministry of Education, dated 17th November, 2010) . In such a context it seems to be important to find answers to the questions about substantial preparation, knowledge and attitudes (including stereotypes) connected with the functioning of children with autism, the possibilities of effective work with them, resulting from the knowledge of therapeutic effects of the methods used by their potential teachers and tutors. However, formal possibilities or priority ideas of the Ministry of Education are not enough and will not ensure the success of the education of children, among the others those with autism. What is needed is primarily the knowledge, willingness and competencies of those who will work with children in difficult and far from the educational ideal Polish schools.
Tekst jest próbą zdiagnozowania stanu wiedzy na temat autyzmu wśród pedagogów i pedagogów specjalnych, jak również przyszłych pedagogów studiujących na kierunkach pedagogicznych. Jest to szczególnie istotne zwłaszcza współcześnie, gdy idea kształcenia inkluzyjnego staje się nie tylko tendencją rozwiązań edukacyjnych w Polsce, ale za chwilę (we wrześniu 2012 Prezydent RP Bronisław Komorowski podpisze konwencje o Prawach Osób Niepełnosprawnych, która gwarantuje im możliwość integracji. W dokumencie tym tzw. edukacja włączająca jest uznana za priorytet, który ma przeciwdziałać wykluczeniu) zostanie usankcjonowana prawnie. W jej myśl dzieci z autyzmem mogą realizować obowiązek kształcenia w szkole integracyjnej czy ogólnodostępnej (odnosi się do tego również rozporządzenie MEN z dn. 17.11.2010). W tym kontekście istotne wydaje się uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytania o przygotowanie merytoryczne pedagogów, wiedzę i postawy (w tym stereotypy) dotyczące funkcjonowania dziecka z autyzmem, możliwości skutecznej pracy z nim, wynikające ze znajomości metod oddziaływania terapeutycznego ich potencjalnych nauczycieli i wychowawców. Formalne możliwości, priorytetowe ministerialne (MEN) koncepcje nie wystarczą i nie zapewnią sukcesu kształcenia dzieci m.in. z autyzmem. Potrzebna jest przede wszystkim zgoda, wyrażająca się w wiedzy, chęciach i kompetencjach tych, którym przyjdzie z dzieckiem na co dzień pracować we wciąż trudnej i dalekiej od ideału rzeczywistości edukacyjnej polskiej szkoły.

Autism is one of the most mysterious human disorders ever known. Although existing since the dawn of humanity, it was only in 1943 that science took up this subject. Before, undiscovered and unnamed, it was considered merely a legend, and the only existing records were those of a few pioneer case studies. With his discoveries, Leo Kanner, the first person to properly define autism, marked the beginning of a struggle to describe the disorder using scientific language. Unfortunately, the attempts were not always successful. Autism, as described by contemporary science, is a neurodevelopmental disorder. Theories claiming its psychogenic aetiology can no longer be sustained. The history of research concerning autism points to a phenomenon known as collective thinking – a term coined by Ludwik Fleck, as well as to the process of the emergence of a scientific myth. It is a study of how researchers’ presuppositions can shape social beliefs, and at the same time how constructing scientific theories is inherently ingrained in the cognitive style of an era. The second half of the 20th century marks the beginning of a gradual change in the classification of autism. The perception of the nature of this disorder shifted from psychogenic theories to organic aetiologies. It is the voice of the enormously talented and creative individuals with high-functioning autism that triggered a breakthrough in the research - a voice that was ignored until the 1980s.

Autyzm jest jednym z najbardziej tajemniczych zaburzeń rozwoju człowieka – choć towarzyszy ludzkości od początku jej istnienia, został stosunkowo późno opisany przez naukę, bo dopiero w 1943 r. Od czasów Leo Kannera, który pierwszy zdefi niował autyzm, nauka starała się wyjaśniać zagadki tego zaburzenia własnym językiem, choć nie zawsze w sposób bardziej racjonalny. Radykalną zmianę w tych dociekaniach spowodował głos, któremu jeszcze w latach osiemdziesiątych XX w. nie przypisywano racji bytu, głos wysokofunkcjonujących osób z autyzmem – wybitnie uzdolnionych i twórczych ludzi.

Homocysteine is an amino acid which plays several important roles in human physiology and is an important biomarker for possible deficiencies of various vitamins (vitamin B6 and B12, folic acid). In this work GC-MS method was used to determine the levels of homocysteine in the urine of autistic and healthy children. The levels of homocysteine in urine samples from 34 autistic and 21 healthy children were 2.36 ± 1.24 and 0.76 ± 0.31 (mmol∙mol-1 creatinine), respectively. The higher level of homocysteine in autistic children may indicate deficiencies of folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12 in nutrition of these children. The results of this work were taken into consideration in the nutrition of autistic children treated in the Navicula Centre of Diagnosis and Therapy of Autism in Łódź (Poland).
