The aim of the present article is to shed the light on educational aspects which can be obtained by the exploration of an authentic, advertising material. The analysis attempts to demonstrate how communicative and linguistic characteristics, argumentative patterns, rhetorical figures and cultural aspects, which constitute the complex structure which is advertising message, convey values, stereotypes, social and linguistic tendencies. All of the above are conceived in order to complete the goals of persuasion. For the teacher, it is a rich, authentic and precious resource which gives the student the opportunity to extend his abilities and skills, to face and approach a new, linguistic and cultural context.

The aim of the paper was to present the results of the study on the relationship between the quality of leadership and employee’s satisfaction with remuneration. There was a statistically significant influence of all aspects of authentic leadership (relational transparency, fair conduct, self-awareness, internalised moral perspective) on the employee’s satisfaction with their remuneration. It turned out that not only job satisfaction, but also satisfaction with remuneration including recognising remuneration as decent and comparable to similar work in a similar position in other workplaces, depends on the perceived leadership of direct supervisors.

Prior research points out the emerging phenomenon of consumer resistance in terms of resistance towards the marketing discipline. At the same time, extant literature suggests the increasing importance of authenticity in marketing. This study investigates the research question whether and by which means authenticity in marketing can be a response to consumer resistance. The authors conducted qualitative research within which one part of the interviews was conducted with marketing-resistant participants, another one with non-resistant respondents. This permitted to elaborate on divergences between the two groups concerning the evaluation of authenticity. The results illustrate that resistant consumers showed a greater sensitivity for authenticity and clear preferences for authentic brands compared to a more indifferent assessment of the comparison group. Resistant consumers were more likely to identify themselves with the presented authentic brands and appreciated their bene fits such as autonomy, closeness, quality assurance, individuality and economic rebellion that directly contrast with the elaborated points of criticism about marketing. This suggests that, in order to regain consumers that are critical towards the marketing discipline, the elaborated authenticity facets could be applied to brands as an ‘antidote’.

The present article attempts to show how important and easy it is to use authentic material in the classroom. However, the teacher who copies news reports from the Internet may infringe the copyright law. The article offers a comparative analysis of copyright laws in Common Law countries and the EU countries in relation to fair use. The article tries to determine whether teachers may copy, what teachers may copy, what to do with authentic materials as screenshots and how to adapt them to TELC, KET and PET examination tasks. The Author suggests some reading comprehension and grammar development activities designed using Paint and screenshots.

Authentic interpretation of laws is an interpretation of legal provisions that, due to their lack of clarity or misinterpretation in their application, is provided by the parliament. Unlike the legislative procedure, which is conducted, as a rule, in two (exceptionally three) readings, a proposal for giving an authentic interpretation is discussed in one reading. Starting from the understandings of some authors that the act of authentic interpretation of laws is contrary to the principle of democratic pluralism, and that it lacks the necessary level of democratic control and citizen participation, the author examines whether the Croatian parliamentary law enables public participation in the procedure for authentic interpretation of laws and, if so, what legal instruments can be used to implement it in parliamentary practice. To this end, the paper analyzes several relevant constitutional, legal, and procedural provisions of the Croatian parliamentary law, with reference to a parliamentary practice. Given the fact that the procedure for authentic interpretation in the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Northern Macedonia, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Serbia is regulated in a similar way by the rules of procedure of their respective parliaments, the relevant regulations of the latter three countries on the possibility of public participation in this procedure are analyzed as well. It was concluded that Croatian parliamentary law enables public participation in the procedure for authentic interpretation, through the instruments of petition, information and involvement in working groups and working bodies, and the same instruments, with certain specifics, are recognized in the parliamentary law of the latter three countries.

Thesis. The aim of the paper is to interpret Kierkegaard's concept of repetition as a way of creating and experiencing authentic existence in an environment that is set up to repeat this same, inauthentic content of consciousness. Concept. Repetition is associated with determinism and represents social stagnation. Repetition creates the conditions for an inauthentic existence. The article offers an interpretation of Kierkegaard's concept of repetition, which is the repetition of another and produces authentic existence. Results and conclusions. Repetition automatically produces of the same. The repetition of one's choice of oneself is a process of creating spirit and individuality, which is a fundamental principle of authentic existence. Creating an authentic personality is one of the ways to solve the current crisis in society, which is associated with an inauthentic experience of existence, abdication of responsibility and repetition of lies. Cognitive value. The postmodern society associated with the use of the media is not the cause of social disorientation. It is a means that an individual uses to repeat the same. The social environment and magic themselves are not negative, the negative is the inauthentic attitude of a person to them.

Opis:
The purpose of this study is to show the effectiveness of the AA “4C” model in increasing teachers’ abilities. The study is a Single Case Research using the ABABA design. The subject of the study was a natural-science teacher. Results of the observation conducted continuously by three observers show that each of the teacher’s ability items improves from the first condition, to the second condition, and to the third condition. This finding is supported by the results of the Manova technique showing that the AA “4C” model is shown to be effective in improving teachers’ abilities in conducting authentic assessment.

This study seeks to delineate a living values-based authentic assessment model in civic education to foster student character. A research and development design was adopted, with the subjects being high school students in Bandung City and West Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Conceptually, a living values-based authentic assessment is one that amalgamates living values and living values education principles into civic education learning assessments by taking into account the principles of authentic assessment, the core and basic competencies in the curriculum, the main characteristics in the educational program for strengthening character, principles for writing questions based on higher-order thinking skills, and principles for preparing assessments. The types of authentic assessment developed herein are attitude assessment and self-assessment. Based on the results of the validation of experts and practitioners, it is found that the majority (82.84%) rated the authentic assessment instruments as good.

University EFL students in Ecuador do not have many opportunities to authentically practice English outside of the classroom. This lack of daily connections decreases students’ ability to effectively communicate and improve in language learning. Therefore, an international language exchange program was created with 17 students through video chat platforms. The objective of the research was to give students an opportunity to practice English to increase intrinsic motivation and oral communication. This study followed a mixed method approach using questionnaires, informal interviews and observations over a five-week period. The program showed increased confidence in speaking, students seemed to be more intrinsically motivated to improve and an increase in fluency was seen in overall communication skills.

The author presents Wojtyła’s views on participation and its connections to the common good. The analysis consists of two parts. The first part outlines the concept of participation (coexistence and action together with other people in relation to the common good) and its various forms (solidarity and opposition, conformism and evasion). The second part presents views of the nature of common good found not only in liberal thought (common good as the expression of deliberation and the rights of the individual), and personalist thought (common good as the development of the person and its natural potentialities), but primarily in the work of Wojtyła himself (common good as personal self-fulfilment through coexistence and cooperation with others in relation to the conscience-discerned truth, elected in a free act). His reference point was also personalism, which stresses the inalienable dignity of the person in both the private and the social spheres of life.

As part of growing efforts to understand factors affecting c-test this study aims to investigate the effect of text authenticity on the performance of Iranian EFL students in a C-Test. The C-Test is an integrative testing instrument that measures overall language competence, very much like the cloze test. In this study the rule of two has been applied: "the second half of every second word has been deleted, beginning with the second word of the second sentence; the first and last sentences are left intact" (Katona and Dornyei 1993: 35). The research involves 60 college students in their third year, majoring in English Literature at Ershad-Damavand College. This group were randomly selected applying multi-stage sampling. Since the present study intended to investigate the role of two different formats, i.e. authentic and inauthentic texts (text translated from Persian into English), two different tailored C-Tests were made to measure and compare the performances of the participants. Two C-Tests, one with Authentic Text and the other, with Inauthentic Text were administered to this homogenized group comprising 30 subjects. The findings of this study suggest that authenticity has an effect on the performance of learners in c-tests and we should control this variable while devising a c-test.

Providing a broad and detailed definition of pragmatic competence can be a challenging task, mainly due to an interdisciplinary character of pragmatics itself. This article discusses the main characteristics of pragmatic competence and aims at providing a detailed description of how it was perceived by linguist since it was first described. The approaches to foreign language teaching as well as the notion of fluency have transformed throughout the years and so has our perception of pragmatic competence. Rapidly growing popularity of mobile technologies, common access to information as well as the forming of a multi-cultural society make foreign language teaching face new challenges and opportunities. The article focuses on the place pragmatic competence takes in a modern-day language teaching and argues its importance in intercultural communication and achieving proficiency in foreign language.

This study seeks to: 1) to generate a product of a living values-based authentic assessment model in civic learning in high school; 2) to test the effectiveness of the model on the character development of students. Research and Development design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires, attitude scales, interviews, and focus group discussions. An interactive analysis model, quantitative descriptive, and the two-difference test mean were utilised to analyse the data. Participants in the study were Students and Civics Education teachers in ten high schools in Bandung, Indonesia. Results reveal: 1) the model product comprised attitude assessment, self-assessment, and peer assessment which integrates the values of life into the assessment aspects of learning material according to the curriculum; 2) The results of model trials indicate that significant differences arise in the character development of students before and after the application of the model.

The present article consists of two parts. First, we provide some general information on the life and views of Philolaus. This serves as an introduction to the second part which offers a new Polish translation of the most important ancient testimonies on Philolaus and the preserved fragments from his book On Nature (the latter are quoted along with the Greek original). According to the most recent research, these fragments are authentic and give an important insight into the Pythagorean and early Greek philosophy. The present selection of Philolaus’ testimonies and fragments has been arranged in a novel and accessible manner.
