Opis:
The main aim of the research is to identify the potential of location-based gamification apps for promoting tourist destinations. The specific goal is to investigate and evaluate the existing gamified apps for Sofia and reveal their potential as a marketing tool for enhancing the capital as a tourist destination. The study is based on a literature review on the topic and desk research of the available location-based gamification apps for promoting Sofia as a tourist destination thus allowing a comparative analysis of the main attributes of the gamified apps to be made. The qualitative research technique of using key informants is also applied, providing an expert source of information and a deeper insight into current and potential practices in the research area and their effectiveness. The results indicate that this has the greatest potential for further engagement of users and the co-creation of products and services as well as for raising awareness of the destination. The main limitations are related to the fact that they are a relatively new and little-known marketing tool in the field of tourism, and this predetermines a lack of sufficient knowledge and experience for their use for promotional purposes.

The agricultural sector is currently witnessing the use of Internet of Things (IoT) to drive significant innovations across key interests, particularly irrigation. A sprinkler designed with an Arduino controller was developed in this study. The device is among the fastest growing agricultural irrigation systems. The plant studied is Brassica Chinensis, because this vegetable is one of the most commonly consumed vegetables by Indonesian people. However, emphasis is also placed on plant quality as an important consideration, not only on the device’s operational performance. The purpose of this research was to compare the plant quality, including the dissolved solids, chlorophyll, carotenoid, and vitamin C using manual and Arduino-based sprinkler. As consequence, three treatment methods were employed, termed: the use of manual sprinkle, e.g. P0, and Arduino-based IoT sprinkler, described as P1 and P2. Under these conditions, the chlorophyll quality was comparable to the results obtained using the manual application. P1 is a situation where the sprinkler is manually set by the farmer via the app. Meanwhile, P2 uses a sprinkler which is automatically regulated by the system. Under these conditions, the chlorophyll quality generated with the IoT sprinkler was comparable to the results obtained using the manual application.

The aim of the paper was to assess the growing interest – among both the general public and academia – in the phenomenon of picturebook apps, i.e. products for children dedicated to mobile devices with touchscreens. As the object of interest 4 picturebook apps were chosen, which in different ways present topics connected with social issues (exclusion, sexuality, “otherness”). A selected sample of pre-school children parents were presented with the apps and then interviewed (qualitative research) in order to collect their opinions regarding both the apps and the topics raised in their content. The acquired data documents different attitudes towards the apps – ranging from very open to close minded.

Language heterogeneity in the classroom is quite a common phenomenon. For experts, it is a challenge; for teachers and parents, it is most often a problem. This challenge or problem will be discussed on the basis of the theory of multilingual education and migration pedagogy. The aim of this contribution is to present an app that can be regarded as a universal tool for fostering multilingualism and explaining it from the viewpoint of parents, since they are an important but often ignored aspect of multilingual education. The research analysis will illustrate and interpret the research results of a qualitative study in which parents from different countries participated. It is not country specific, but it highlights the key aspects that can foster multilingual education and that at least partly match with the underlying theory.

Nowadays, there is a common tendency to seek simpler and faster solutions that could be used in a process of software development. At the same time two other trends can be observed - rapid increase of mobile applications popularity and introducing IT concepts to non-IT specialists. This is why App Inventor 2 is one of the tools that software development community is interested in. The goal of this paper is to verify the possibility of using App Inventor as a tool for creating personal applications and compare it with possibilities given by Java, which is a native environment for Android platform. Comparison was based on application for managing personal text notes which was created in both solutions. The application had the same layout as well as analogical code, and it was the subject of performance tests followed by a survey. Performance test revealed that both implementations provided efficiency which is good enough for everyday use and small size personal applications. Survey participants preferred application built in Java due to its better responsiveness and visual appearance. Concluding, current shape of App Inventor, makes it useless for professionals, but useful for non-IT specialists for creating personal applications.

Opis:
During the past few years, the number of drones (unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs) manufactured and purchased has risen dramatically. It is predicted that it will continue to spread, making its use inevitable in all walks of life. Drone apps are therefore expected to overrun the app stores in the near future. The UAV’s software is not being studied/researched despite several active research and studies being carried out in the UAV’s hardware field. A large‐scale empirical analysis of Google Play Store Platform apps connected to drones is being done in this direction. There are, however, a number of challenges with drone apps because of the lack of formal and specialized app development procedures. In this paper, eleven drone app issues have been identified. Then we applied the DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method to analyze the drone app issues (DIs) and divide these issues into cause and effect groups. First, multiple experts assess the direct relationships between influential issues in drone apps. The evaluation results are presented in spherical fuzzy numbers (SFN). Secondly, we convert the linguistic terms into SFN. Thirdly, based on DEMATEL, the cause‐effect classifications of issues are obtained. Finally, the issues in the cause category are identified as DI’s in drone apps. The outcome of the research is compared with the other variants of DEMATEL, like rough‐Z‐number‐ based DEMATEL and spherical fuzzy number, and the comparative results suggest that spherical fuzzy DEMA‐ TEL is the most fitting method to analyze the interrela‐ tionship of different issues in drone apps. The findings revealed that highest influenced values feature request (DI9 ) 3.12, Customer support (DI6) 2.91, Connection/Sync ((DI4) 2./72, Cellular Data Usage ((DI3) 2.51, Battery (DI2) 2.31, Advertisements ((DI1) – 0.3, Cost (DI5) – 0.5, Additional cost (D11) – 0.5, Device Compatibility (DI7) – 0.96, and Functional Error (DI10) – 1.2. The outcome of this work definitely assists the software industry in the successful identification of the critical issues where professionals and project managers could really focus.

Opis:
The deposition of aggregated amyloid β-protein (Aβ) in the human brain is a major lesion in Alzheimer' disease (AD). The process of Aβ fibril formation is associated with a cascade of neuropathogenic events that induces brain neurodegeneration leading to the cognitive and behavioral decline characteristic of AD. Although a detailed knowledge of Aβ assembly is crucial for the development of new therapeutic approaches, our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the initiation of Aβ fibril formation remains very incomplete. The genetic defects responsible for familial AD influence fibrillogenesis. In a majority of familial cases determined by amyloid precursor protein (APP) and presenilin (PS) mutations, a significant overproduction of Aβ and an increase in the Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio are observed. Recently, it was shown that the two main alloforms of Aβ have distinct biological activity and behaviour at the earliest stage of assembly. In vitro studies demonstrated that Aβ42 monomers, but not Aβ40, form initial and minimal structures (pentamer/hexamer units called paranuclei) that can oligomerize to larger forms. It is now apparent that Aβ oligomers and protofibrils are more neurotoxic than mature Aβ fibrils or amyloid plaques. The neurotoxicity of the prefibrillar aggregates appears to result from their ability to impair fundamental cellular processes by interacting with the cellular membrane, causing oxidative stress and increasing free Ca^(2+)that eventually lead to apoptotic cell death.

Opis:
Theoretical background: Multichannel retailers can implement various migration strategies to induce consumers to use particular marketing channel. Some researchers indicated voluntary and forced customer E-channel migration strategies. Due to the negative consequences of a coercive strategy, a voluntary migration strategy is much more popular. Voluntary migration strategy provides multichannel shoppers a total freedom of their choice whereas the incentive-based migration strategy uses some stimulus in order to convince buyers to use specific marketing channel. Encouraging the buyer to behave in a particular way may cause him/her a negative self-determination perception. Limited self-determination means consumer conviction that a certain action was taken as a result of marketing initiatives, prompted by the seller, and is not the result of their free and independent decision. A self-determined customer is convinced of entering into a relationship with the provider on their own initiative. In the context of channel-based price differentiation, it is about the consumer's belief that a specific purchase channel has been selected as a result of a solicitation by the seller. According to researchers, limited self-determination can have potentially negative impact on the intention to buy. Purpose of the article: The presented research model refers to the customer intention to buy online (intention to stay there) in the multichannel context. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to contribute to existing literature on multichannel pricing and advance our understanding of factors influencing the customer intention to make a purchase in offline channel (to stay in a brick-and-mortar store) under the price pressure in mobile app. This study aims to investigate factors affecting the intention to purchase offline when m-channel migration strategy based on price incentives is implemented by the retailer. Special attention is devoted to the issue of limited self-determination in a channel-based price differentiation context. Research methods: The data comes from a questionnaire survey carried out in 2021. This study is a quantitative study employing a scenario-based approach. The total sample size is 500, cosmetics was the product category which the questionnaire was prepared for. For the purpose of the research, a SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) analysis using AMOS 26 was conducted. Main findings: This research extends the understanding of consumer limited self-determination and subjective knowledge and mobile app familiarity and its influence on the intention to buy offline when price incentives are provided in a mobile purchase app. Article adds to the existing literature on customer migration in a multichannel environment.

In this article the author tries to analyze the relationship between ‘task’ defined in specialized literature as an activity in which the language in question is used with a communicative purpose to achieve an outcome (Diadori, et al., 2008) and its implementation in virtual environments. In the first part of this paper author presents the ‘task’ and Task-based Language Teaching main features. The article describes the advantages of introducing technology-mediated tasks in a traditional classroom environment. This point of view is supported by the data collected during the case study performed at the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow, Russian Federation. The second part focuses on the case study. The technology-mediated tasks supported by Whatsapp – an instant messaging app were used in the Italian as the foreign language course. The app allowed to create an informal learning path, parallel to formal learning. The chat rooms of the Instant messaging app were the space when students should to work. There they received task instructions and had to chat in Italian making decisions and solving the problems. The performance of the task also included preparing and presenting the report. The data collected from the tasks’ assessment and the overall experience suggests an increasing students’ motivation and interest to learn languages enhanced with technology.
