Opis:
A novel biofi lter containing organic, bentonite and halloysite media was applied for elimination of microbial pollutants from the air of an industrial hatchery. The concentrations of total mesophilic bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, thermophilic actinomycetes, dust and bacterial endotoxin were determined in the air of hatchery during 2 months before installation of the biofi lter, and during 6 months after installation of the biofi lter, at the inlet and outlet ducts from each medium. Before installation of the biofi lter, the concentrations of total mesophilic bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, thermophilic actinomycetes, dust and endotoxin in the air were within the ranges of 0.97- 131.2 × 103 cfu/m3, 0.0-34.4 × 103 cfu/m3, 0.0-0.02 × 103 cfu/m3, 0.37-4.53 mg/m3, and 50.9-520,450.4 ng/m3, respectively. Enterococcus faecalis and Gram-negative bacteria (Acinetobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, and other species) prevailed among bacterial species recovered from the air of the hatchery. A total of 56 species or genera of bacteria were identifi ed in the air samples taken in the examined hatchery; of these, 11, 11 and 6 species or genera respectively were reported as having allergenic, immunotoxic and/or infectious properties The concentrations of total mesophilic bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, Enterococcus faecalis and endotoxin found at the inlet duct of the biofi lter after its installation were signifi cantly smaller compared to those recorded before its installation (p<0.05). The concentrations of Gram-negative bacteria, Enterococcus faecalis and dust found at the outlet ducts of biofi lter after its installation were signifi cantly smaller compared to those recorded at the inlet duct of the biofi lter (p<0.01). The concentrations of total meso-philic bacteria were also smaller at the outlet ducts of the biofi lter compared to that at the inlet duct; however, the difference was not signifi cant because of the massive growth of Streptomyces species in the biofi lter’s media which contaminated the outcoming air. In conclusion, the applied biofi lter proved to be effective in the elimination of potentially pathogenic bacteria, dust and endotoxin from the air of the hatchery. The effi cacy of the biofi lter could be improved by the inhibition of the Streptomyces growth in the media of the biofi lter.

The prevalence of Trichinella sp. among 97, 193, 480 swine and 309040 wild boars was determined by artificial digestion method. Pork meat was about 6 times less infected with Trichinella sp. in the years 1997-1998 than in the years 1993-1994. In the years 1993-1994 894 positive Trichinella sp. cases (prevalence - 0,0029%) in pork meat were established. The prevalence of Trichinella larvae infection in pork meat in the years 1997-1998 was 0,00030% - larvae were found in 141 cases, only.

Na podstawie piśmiennictwa przedstawiono dane dotyczące zawartości glinu w żywności oraz potencjalne źródła jego pobierania.
Literature of the subject has been used to present data on the content of aluminium in groups of food products, and possible sources of its intake. Aluminium content in majority of naturally derived products does not exceed 10 mg/kg (usually 0.1-1 mg/kg). This element is consumed by humans mainly through cereals, cheese and salt. Herbs, spices and tea have a naturally high content of aluminium. Nutrients are a significant course of aluminium in infants and small children. Its content in milk-based mixes is over ten times higher, and in soya-based mixes up to several dozen times higher than that reporeted for breast milk. Aluminium compounds used as food additives are an additional source of this element in food in many countries. Such additives are not permitted in Poland. Food pollution with aluminium may, to some extent, be augmented by use of aluminium cutlery and kitchen utensils, equipment used in food industry, as well as packaging. Consumption analysis presente in 1989 by the FAO/WHO Experts Commision for food additives conclude that the daily intake of aluminium in children is 2-6 mg/kg, and in adults 6-14 mg/kg. The PTWI parameter for aluminium is 7 mg/kg body weight.

Opis:
Prześledzono wpływ kwasu glutaminowego, histydyny i argininy na spożycie diet, przyrosty i skład chemiczny masy ciała 30-dniowych samców szczurzych szczepu Wistar. Źródłem białka w dietach była kazeina. Do diet dodano jeden z badanych aminokwasów w ilości 5g/100g diety. Dodatek tych aminokwasów spowodował istotne obniżenie spożycia diet, przyrostu masy ciała i jego składników, tj. wody, białka, tłuszczu i popiołu. Dodatek histydyny do diety powodował obniżenie stosunku azotu do wody w ciele, co świadczyło o opóźnieniu chemicznego dojrzewania tkanek, równocześnie ze zmniejszeniem procentowej zawartości tłuszczu w ciele.
100 male rats, aged 30 ± 1 days were investigated by means of 28 days study. The influence of the supplementation of glutaminie acid, histidine and arginine to the diet on dietary intake, weight gain and chemical composition was determinated. It was casein that was used as the source of protein. We investigated the application of 4 kinds of diet during each experiment and the composition of the diets was based on the Miller-Bend non-protein diet model. 100 male rats, aged 30 ± 1 days were investigated by means of 28 days study. The influence of the supplementation of glutaminie acid, histidine and arginine to the diet on dietary intake, weight gain and chemical composition was determinated. It was casein that was used as the source of protein. We investigated the application of 4 kinds of diet during each experiment and the composition of the diets was based on the Miller-Bend non-protein diet model.
