    In the article is considered the problem of functioning anecdote in Catherine’s II fiction. Anecdote depicting the image of a clever and educated wife starts a dialogue with a Polish anonymous author’s text A golden burden of marriage, in which the image of wife becomes a target for mocking and open Renaissance laugh. Catherine Alexeevna answers on it using Enlightening conception of a wife image, whose place in the society is determined by her education, upbringing and literature abilities. Thanks to her qualities, a woman can become the owner of the salon and even in some exceptional cases - the Empress.

    Niniejszy artykuł ma charakter badawczy, jego celem jest przedstawienie ustnej tradycji anegdotycznej, żywej zarówno w Azji, jak i na Bliskim Wschodzie, która skupia się wokół postaci mądrego głupca. Występuje on w różnych trawestacjach o imieniu Hodża Nasreddin i łączy ludowe poczucie humoru z autoironiczną krytyką społeczną. Po rozpoznaniu specyficznych warunków społeczno-kulturowych, zmiany trybu życia z koczowniczego na osiadły i trudności adaptacyjnych tego procesu, przedstawiono zasięg ich oddziaływania i specyfikę w zależności od lokalnych tendencji. Następnie, po zarysowaniu studium postaci bliskowschodniego żartownisia pod kątem antropologicznym i turkologicznym, przywołane zostały analogiczne postacie bohaterów plebejskich i antybohaterów z kultury anatolijskiej. Jako przedstawiciel tradycji zachodnioeuropejskiej dla celów porównawczych przedstawiony został Dyl Sowizdrzał (niem. Till Eulenspiegel, ang. Owlglass). W pracy wykorzystano przykłady anegdot Hodży Nasreddina, towarzyszące po dziś dzień codziennemu życiu na Bliskim Wschodzie. W studium przypadku wykorzystano prace tureckich folklorystów i antropologów jak Ilhan Başgöz i Mary Douglas.
    The article is of the research nature; its aim is to present the spoken anecdotal tradition, vivid both in Asia and in the Middle East, which focuses around the figure of a wise fool. He appears in various travesties under the name of Hodja Nasreddin and combines the folk sense of humour with a selfironic social criticism. Having recognised the specific sociocultural conditions, the change of the lifestyle from the nomadic to the settled one, and the adaptive difficulties of this process, the author presented the scope of their impact and the specificity depending on the local tendencies. Next, having outlined the study of the figure of the Middle East joker from the anthropological and turkological angle, she the referred to similar figures of plebeian heroes and anti-heroes from the Anatolian culture. As the representative of the West European tradition, for the comparative purposes, there is presented Dyl Sowizdrzał (Germ. Till Eulenspiegel, Eng. Owlglass). In her study, the author used examples of the Hodja Nasreddin’s anecdotes, accompanying to this day the everyday life in the Middle East. In the case study, there were used works of Turkish folklorists and anthropologists such as Ilhan Başgöz and Mary Douglas.

    The ancient biographical literature is full of anecdotes. Though anecdote as literary form was readily applied in antiquity, it was not distinguished and didn’t have its own name. The term ‘anecdote’ appeared in the 17th century but it hasn’t been described insightfully so far. We have a few modern definitions but they are unsatisfactory.     Anegdota stanowi przypadek graniczny literatury oraz zorganizowanej literacko żywej mowy (parole). Zastanawia trwałość jej specyficznej poetyki, widzianej „od strony” literatury (zawdzięcza ją m.in. udziałowi czynników nieświadomych), „od strony” technik fikcji anegdota okazuje się natomiast elementem strategii retorycznych. Zwrot anegdotyczny oznaczałby tu wykroczenie poza ścisłe reguły komunikacji dyskursywnej i narzucania sugestii. Anegdota bowiem jest zwykle zawoalowaną wypowiedzią krytyczną, działającą podprogowo. Łączy składniki informacyjne z intencją sceptyczną, która owe treści podważa. Jej ostrze wymierzone jest często we wzniosłe pozory i patos, z jakimi prezentuje się światu autorytet. Wprowadza w obraz świata migotliwość i dwoistość motywacji ludzkich, co składa się na właściwą jej strategię przenicowań.
    The anecdote is a borderline case of literature and literarily constructed living speech (parole). Its specific poetics, viewed from the “aspect” of literature, is arresting for its endurance (owed among others to the participation of unconscious factors). Meanwhile, from the “aspect” of fictional techniques, the anecdote shows itself as an element of rhetorical strategies. The anecdotal phrase would thus mean stepping beyond the strict rules of discursive communication towards imposition of suggestions. Namely, the anecdote is usually a veiled critical statement that acts subliminally. By combining components of information with sceptical intent it undermines this content. Its thrust is often directed against the lofty pretensions and pathos under which authority presents itself to the world. The anecdote brings the scintillation and duality of human motivation to the image of the world as a part of its unique strategy of subversion. Keywords

    CEL NAUKOWY: Problematyka podjęta w przedstawionej pracy jest ściśle związana z metodologiczną i etyczną refleksją czołowych przedstawicieli pedagogiki fenomenologicznej na świecie, emerytowanego profesora uniwersytetu w Albercie Maxa van Manena. Celem jest ukazanie znaczenia badań narracyjnych w naukach szczegółowych jako jednej z dróg troski o ochronę normatywnego wymiaru w badawczej refleksji i działaniu. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Głównym problemem badawczym jest analiza miejsca narracji i anegdoty w koncepcji phenomenology of practice jako jednej z dróg ochrony i rozwoju humanistycznego wymiaru w badaniach pedagogicznych. Przeprowadzony proces refleksji powstał na podstawie analizy treści fundamentalnych dla poruszanej problematyki w monografiach i artykułach Maxa van Manena. PROCES WYWODU: Proces wywodu został podzielony na dwie części. Pierwsza dotyczy rozumienia narracji jako formy refleksji i działania moralnego, druga roli anegdoty jako narzędzia badań narracyjnych. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Wyniki analizy ukazują wartość metodologiczną i znaczenie etyczne badań narracyjnych w procesie poszukiwania odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, jakiej wiedzy naprawdę potrzebujemy jako osoba i jako wspólnota. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Jednym z najważniejszych wniosków i postulatów jest uwzględnianie i poszukiwanie w badaniach pedagogicznych dróg dostępu do tego, co Max van Manen nazywa patycznymi formami wiedzy (pathic knowledge).
    RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The main consideration of this analysis is tightly connected with the theoretical and methodological achievements of one of the leading representatives of phenomenological pedagogy in the world; professor emeritus of University of Alberta, Max van Manen. The aim is to show the importance of narrative research as one of the ways of protecting the normative dimension in research reflection and action. THE RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND METHODS: The main research problem is related with the place of narrativity and anegdote in his concept of phenomenology of practice as a way of care for and development of humanistic dimension in the pedagogical research. The reflection process was conducted on the basis of an content analysis fundamental for the most important monographs and articles of Max van Manena in the field. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The process of argumentation was divided into two parts. The main part of the analysis is divided into two parts. The first concerns the understanding of narration as a form of reflection and moral action, the second section focuses on the role of anecdotes as a tool for narrative research. RESEARCH RESULTS: The results of the analysis show the methodological value and the ethical importance of narrative research in the inquiry for finding answers to the question of what knowledge we really need as a person and as a community. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: One of the most important conclusions and postulates is the consideration and search for ways of accessing what Max van Manen calls pathic knowledge in pedagogical research.

    The article is devoted to the analysis of how a scientist is depicted in a Russian anecdote. The research corpus, based mainly on internet sources, allowed for a conclusion that the profession of a scientist affects his entire life and the whole system of values. A scientist, as the Russian anecdotes portray, is a rather scatter-brained person, confined within his own world of science. Additionally, the authors of this article point to stereotypes as a means of assessment characteristic to every nation. They consider this element as a significant factor to be implemented in the foreign language teaching.

    The Anecdotes on Demosthenes – An IntroductionThe following article is devoted to anecdotes on Demosthenes and consists of two parts. The first one is an introduction to the anecdotes themselves. Starting with a short biography of the pre-eminent Greek speaker, it discusses the rest of the content of a manuscript which clearly shows awakened interest in Antiquity. Consequently, the biography itself becomes a subject. Later the reception of Diogenes Laertius’s Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers is briefly discussed, highlighting the influence and evolution of ancient authors and ancient thought on, among others, Poggio Bracciolini and Petrarch. Then the author some introductory remarks on Renaissance attempts to translate and exemplify a stylised biography of the philosopher in Polish tradition. One of these attempts was made by Filippo Buonaccorsi, called “Callimachus”, who composed the Life of Gregory of Sanok, the archbishop of Lviv. Finally, the author poses the question of why Demosthenes appeared as a character interesting both in terms of a biography and anecdotes. According to Turasiewicz, it seems that people were filled with the ideals of Athenian democracy and let themselves be somehow charmed by the eloquence of Demosthenes. This did not happen through flattery but through honesty and clarity of thought and due to the idea of a kind of sacrifice entailed in the orator’s speeches. An admiration for the speaker’s political views was reflected not only in a golden wreath but mainly in the silent approval of the struggle for political sovereignty at the expense of “money, pleasure and life.” The wise people of Athens accepted without objection reprimand and instructions uttered by the speaker, but they did it only because it was honest criticism supported by reasonable arguments. With the fall of Constantinople, the works of Demosthenes returned to Europe and thanks to Byzantine scholars he found Ostroróg, Georges Clemenceau, Friedrich Nietzsche – these are just a few of the important people who found themselves influenced by him.The introductory notes are followed by the second part of the paper, which consists of a translation of the anecdotes. Enriched with necessary footnotes, the translation attempts to provide an interesting insight into Demosthenes’ personality, since one might find there not only stories praising his qualities but also some anecdotes on his faults. All in all, the reader is left with a thorough, though not comprehensive, image of the famous Athenian orator.

    Folk units as the special element of the modern cultural process are described in the article; the author takes into consideration the catch-words, anecdotes, parodies etc. Despite a lot of differences in the comparison with classical folklore, the „marginal” units become similar to it. In the most of cases it refers to: the mutual function in the process of socialization and in the cultural context, trade and political advertisement as the contemporary sphere of the folklore, expressed conviction about the possibility to order the world, to defense against the chaos. Furthermore, in the contemporary „folk communication” the scheme of universal deconstruction of social and cultural myths functions.It’s worth adding that in the function of universe, which organizes „classical” and contemporary verbal folk creativity, laugh, which creates much fairer, though an illusory „world of anticulture”, appears.

    Предлагаемая статья посвящена рассмотрению одной из малых форм фольклора – анекдоту и более конкретно – этноанекдоту как способу отражения национальной специфики, национального колорита, форме выражения наиболее характерных особенностей менталитета и образа жизни определенного народа, нации, социальной группы. На примере текстов наиболее типичных и распространенных на славянских Балканах текстов анекдотов представлены наиболее типичные, характерные для представителей т.н. «сербохорватского языкового континуума» национально-специфические качества, отражаемые в подобных этноанекдотах, еще одной особенностью которых является то, что нередко национальные (авто)стереотипы объединены в собирательном образе (образах) – герое (или героях), наиболее ярко и во всей совокупности аккумулирующих и представляющих основные стереотипы, характерные для данной нации. Выводится заключение о том, что этноанекдоты, как особая тематическая разновидность анекдота, помимо прочего, содержат важную экстралингвистическую информацию и способны стать объективным источником для этнолингвистической и культурологической характеристики определенной страны и населяющих ее жителей.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest analizie jednej z małych form folkloru – anegdoty, a dokładniej etnoanekdoty jako sposobu odzwierciedlenia narodowej specyfiki, narodowego kolorytu, formy wyrażenia najbardziej charakterystycznych cech mentalności i stylu życia określonego ludu, nacji, grupy społecznej. Na przykładzie najbardziej typowych i rozpowszechnionych na słowiańskich Bałkanach tekstów anegdot przedstawiono najbardziej charakterystyczne dla przedstawicieli serbochorwackiego kontinuum językowego narodowo-specyficzne cechy, odzwierciedlone w tego rodzaju etnoanegdotach. Ich dodatkową cechą jest to, że często narodowe (auto)stereotypy są połączone we wspólnym obrazie (obrazach) – bohatera (lub bohaterów) najbardziej wyraziście i w całości skupiającym i reprezentującym główne stereotypy charakterystyczne dla danego narodu. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwala wnioskować, że etnoanegdota, jako szczególna odmiana tematyczna anegdoty, zawiera między innymi ważne informacje ekstralingwistyczne i może stać się obiektywnym źródłem etnolingwistycznej i kulturoznawczej charakterystyki danego kraju i zamieszkujących go mieszkańców.
    This article reviews one of the small forms of folklore – anecdote and, more specifically, ethno-anecdote (ethnic joke) as a way of reflecting national specifics, national colour, a form of expression of the most characteristic features of the mentality and way of life of a certain people, nation, social group. Based on texts of anecdotes that are most typical and widespread in the area of the Slavic Balkans, the characteristics of representatives of the so-called “Serbo-Croatian dialect continuum” are explored. Nationalspecific qualities reflected in ethnic jokes and stereotypes are discussed. It is concluded that ethnic jokes, as a special thematic kind of anecdote, contain, among other things, important extralinguistic information and can become an objective source when studying the ethnolinguistic and culturological characteristics of a particular country and its inhabitants.

Należy przypuszczać, że w polskiej wersji przetrwała właściwa forma nazwy autora – Andreasa Melsiusa, nieznana badaczom niemieckim.
    The article points to the German source of Józef Wereszczyński’s Gościniec pewny (1585) unknown to the Polish researchers. The Polish author paraphrased in prose a versed text, preserved in one copy, entitled Von einer erschrecklichen Geschicht, welche sich zugetragen hat den 9. Februarij am tage Esto mihi dieses 1578 Jahr zu Ravenspurg, von 8 Bürgern und Bürger-Söhnen, wie sie sich mit einander verbunden Faßnachtzu halten, und also des Morgens früe erstlich zum gebrandten Wein gegangen seind, und haben darüber unbilliger Weise die Predigt versaumt. Endtlich von dem Sathan auch ihren Lohn schrecklicher weise nommen und umb ihr Leben kommen seint, etc. Allen frommen Christen zu Warnung gestellet. Durch M. Andream N(?)elsium. We ought to assume that the proper form of the author’s name, unknown to the German researchers – Andreas Melsius – has survived in the Polish version.
    Im Artikel wird auf eine bisher den polnischen Forschern unbekannte Quelle für Gościniec pewny (1585) von Józef Wereszczyński hingewiesen. Der polnische Autor paraphrasierte in Prosa das als Unikat erhaltene Werk Von einer erschrecklichen Geschicht, welche sich zugetragen hat den 9. Februarij am tage Esto mihi dieses 1578 Jahr zu Ravenspurg, von 8 Bürgern und Bürger-Söhnen, wie sie sich mit einander verbunden Faßnacht zu halten, und also des Morgens früe erstlich zum gebrandten Wein gegangen seind, und haben darüber unbilliger Weise die Predigt versaumt. Endtlich von dem Sathan auch ihren Lohn schrecklicher weise nommen und umb ihr Leben kommen seint, etc. Allen frommen Christen zu Warnung gestellet. Durch M. Andream N(?)elsium. Es ist anzunehmen, dass in der polnischen Version die richtige Form des Autorennamens, Andreas Melsius, erhalten geblieben ist. Diese Form war den deutschen Forschern nicht bekannt.

    Esej skupia się na ogólnym przedstawieniu kwestii kryzysu dotykającego humanistykę, ukazując ów kryzys z perspektywy kilku współczesnych projektów interdyscyplinarnych. W świetle proponowanych przez projekty te rozstrzygnięć uderza złożoność pojmowania idei samego kryzysu (wraz z jego skądinąd nierozstrzygalną definicją), który bywa postrzegany jako niezwykłe źródło energii stymulującej rozwój ludzkiej myśli, jaki odbija się w różnych dykursach akademickich (w tym literaturoznawczych). W celu ponownego przemyślenia nowych możliwości, sugerowanych przez współczesnych badaczy, zdecydowałam się na przypomnienie atopii (lansowanej w pismach Barthes’a), która płynnie wiedzie w kierunku tzw. zwrotu performatywnego (manifestowanego w „późnej” dekonstrukcji Derridy), aby następnie poprowadzić ku poetyce doświadczenia (obecnej między innymi w krytyce somatycznej oraz somaestetyce) oraz ku poetyce kulturowej reprezentowanej przez amerykańską szkołę Greenblatta.
    In the essay, a crucial issue of crisis concerning the human studies is presented from the view-point of several interdisciplinary procedures, according to which the convoluted content of the crisis itself (along with its impossible term) is regarded as an extra-ordinary energy stimulating the development of the human thought, expressed either in/by literature or academic discourses. In order to reconsider the new possibilities for the human studies, offered by the contemporary thinkers, I have decided to cast same light on Barthes’s idea of atopy, which fluently leads towards the so called performative turn (via late Derrida’s deconstruction) and subsequently to the poetics of experience (including the somatic criticism and somaesthetics) and cultural poetics, represented by the Greenblatt school.
    Эссе сосредоточен на общем представлении вопроса кризиса, затрагивающего гуманитарные науки, показывая кризис с точки зрения ряда современных интердисциплинарнарных проектов. С учетом предлагаемых этими проектами решении поражает сложность интерпретации идеи самого кризиса (наряду с его неразрешимым иначе определением), который воспринимается как чрезвычайный источник энергии, который стимулирует развитие человеческой мысли, что находит отражение в различных академических дискурсах (в том числе и литературоведении). Для того, чтобы переосмыслить новые возможности, предложенные современными учеными, я решила напомнить атопию (выдвинутую в трудах Барта), которая плавно ведет в так называемый перформативный поворот (демонстрированный в „поздней” деконструкции Деррида), чтобы затем приводит к поэтике опыта (среди других присутствующей в соматической критике и cомаэстетике ) и к культурной поэтике, представленной американской школой Гринблэттa.

    Автор статьи рассматривает книжку проф. Богдана Дземидока «Комизм». Он обращает внимание на философскую и научную компетенцию профессора, а также на литературные заслуги самой книги. Он подчеркивает, что философ объединил в ней исключительное историческое знание с высоким уровнем теоретических размышлений о комизме и тонким анализом. Эти заслуги автор связывает со свойственным профессору Дземидоку личным чувством иронии и автоиронии. Представленная книга выдающаяся и обогащающая не только польскую, но и европейскую литературу предмета.
    The author of the article discusses prof. Bohdan Dziemidok’s book titled ‘Comedy’. He indicates professor’s philosophical and scientific competences, as well as the advantages of literary and cognitive work itself. He stresses that the philosopher combines the unique historical knowledge with high level of theoretical considerations on the comedy and subtle analysis. These advantages the author combines with the inherent prof. B. Dziemidok’s personal sense of irony and self-irony. This work is presented as outstanding, significantly enriching not only Polish but also European literature.

    The paper describes the Soviet reality on the material of the texts of anecdotes. The author presents the thematic diversity of situational contexts in anecdotes as well as some specific lexical, grammatical and stylistic aspects of anecdote as the characteristic features of the epoch. Cross-cultural parallels shown in the article emphasize the specific aspects of Russian mentality of that time.
    В статье представлено на материале анекдота как вида текста описание советской действительности. Очерчивается тематическая разнородность ситуативных контекстов в анекдоте, а также прослеживается специфика лексического, грамматического и стилистического маркеров анекдота как характерных показателей эпохи. Используемые в разработке межкультурные параллели позволяют еще более оттенить и подчеркнуть специфику русской ментальности той поры.

    Die Geschichte über den groben Pommern wird seit fast einem halben Jahrtausend – jeweils von voneinander unabhängigen Redakteuren – immer wieder revidiert und modifiziert. Sie wurde von ca. 35 Autoren in ca. 40 Fassungen publiziert. Ihre Wurzeln muten anekdotisch an; sie wurde in epischen, lyrischen und dramatischen Texten bearbeitet. Sie nahm Bezug auf ein altbewährtes, negativ konnotiertes Stereotyp über die Region Pommern und ihre Bewohner. Auf der einen Seite zeigte sie die Wahrnehmung der autochthonen Bevölkerung, auf der anderen Seite bot aber auch einen Umgang mit diesem nachteilig behafteten Bild an. Der Beitrag vergleicht einzelne Varianten der Geschichte und deutet diese imagologisch.
    Opowieść o nieokrzesanym Pomorzaninie wciąż bywa rewidowana i publikowana – przez niezależnych od siebie redaktorów – od niemal połowy tysiąclecia. Była modyfikowana przez około 35 autorów w około 40 wersjach. Jej korzenie wydają się anegdotyczne; doczekała się adaptacji w tekstach prozatorskich, lirycznych i dramatycznych. Odnosiła się do utrwalonego stereotypu o negatywnych konotacjach, dotyczącego regionu Pomorza i jego mieszkańców. Z jednej strony ukazywała ona postrzeganie ludności autochtonicznej, z drugiej zaś oferowała sposób radzenia sobie z tym obciążonym wizerunkiem. Artykuł porównuje poszczególne warianty opowieści i interpretuje je imagologicznie.
    The story about the rough Pomeranian has been repeatedly revised and published – by editors who have been independent of each other – for almost half a millennium. It has been modi-fied by about 35 authors in about 40 versions. Its roots seem anecdotal; it has been adapted in epic, lyrical and dramatic texts. It referred to a long-established stereotype with negative con-notations about the region of Pomerania and its inhabitants. On the one hand, it showed the perception of the autochthonous population, but on the other hand, it also offered a way of dealing with this detrimentally tainted image. The article compares individual variants of the story and interprets them imagologically.
