Ostatnie lata wskazują na dynamiczny rozwój coraz to lepszych technologii bezzałogowych statków powietrznych RPAS/UAV (ang. Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems/Unmanned Aviation Vehicle), potocznie nazywanych „dronami”, których terminologia wywodzi się z regulacji Organizacji Międzynarodowego Lotnictwa Cywilnego (ICAO). Zainteresowanie ich eksploatacją wzrasta nie tylko do celów militarnych, ale też cywilnych, w tym komercyjnych. Celem artykułu jest analiza kierunku rozwoju bezzałogowych statków powietrznych i zaprezentowanie aktualnych możliwości wykorzystania nowych technologii w transporcie lotniczym. Analizując omawiane trendy, autorzy skorzystali m.in. z materiałów udostępnionych na oficjalnych stronach instytucji nadzorujących transport lotniczy, jak również światowych organizacji nawiązujących do tematyki objętej obszarem rozważań zawartych w niniejszym artykule. Trendy światowe idą w kierunku rozwoju nowych technologii, co daje lepsze możliwości techniczne. Problematyczny staje się jednak stan regulacji prawnych, jak również niski poziom świadomości potencjalnych użytkowników. W opinii ekspertów jest jeszcze wiele do zrobienia zanim UAV zostaną wprowadzone do użytku publicznego na szeroką skale. Wiąże się to z wieloma czynnikami. Jednym z nich jest edukacja w nowej dziedzinie lotnictwa cywilnego, z czym wiąże się przygotowanie odpowiednich kadr zarządzających tymi systemami.
Recent advances in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems/Unmanned Aviation Vehicle technologies are on the rise. They are popularly called ‘drones’ and their terminology derives from ICAO regulations. The interest in drone exploitation involves not only military but also civilian and commercial areas. The aim of this article is to give an insight into the development direction of remotely piloted aircraft and present current possibilities of using new technologies in air transport. The authors of the article used the subject of research literature analysis method including the sources available on the official websites of the air transport inspecting authorities, as well as world organizations relating to the subject matter analysed in this article. Recent advances in new technologies are on the rise, which offers potential. The condition of law regulations as well as low awareness of the potential users is, however, problematic. According to experts, there is still much to be done before UAV are mass-produced. It is connected with numerous factors. One of them is education in the new branch of civil aviation, which involves senior personnel training.

The widespread use of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has created a new threat for air traffic. This is why there is a requirement to initiate research in that domain as UAVs have already were seen flying too close to manned aircraft, including commercial and military flights. It was notified in airspace of many countries. Such incidents have occurred in many countries causing a need to conduct a multi-vector analysis of the matter. The issue is facilitated by very easy access to drones, lack of law regulations, and people’s lack of understanding of the threat. Unidentified drones have already landed within area of nuclear power stations, military units and even highly secured interior of the White House. So, the challenge is rather significant. It could lead to undermining the security of air traffic, but at the same time to terrorists’ attacks, the violation of privacy, and sabotage, including acts against critical infrastructure. It is necessary to study the issue and the paper could be a contribution to enhancing the understanding of the challenge and facilitator of further research.

Ecological, economic and exploitation requirements force manufacturers to develop propulsion systems. In the combustion engines with spark ignition for use in non-road mobile machines, it is common to use fuel supplied systems with carburetors. The mechanical adjustment process of the fuel-air mixture makes it difficult to automate the processes using these engines, one of which is the German 390 engine. The paper presents the concepts of automation solutions to control the fuel-air mixture process. The paper also shows advantages and disadvantages of the construction solutions of transferring motion between the throttle damper actuator and the throttle flap injection unit 30 MM4 by Weber. Among the mentioned solutions were characterized: gear transmission, strand transmission with cogbelt, lever mechanism, solid coupling. In addition, the article presents a prototype solution using strand transmission with cogbelt.
Wymagania ekologiczne, ekonomiczne i eksploatacyjne wymuszają na producentach rozwój konstrukcji układów napędowych. W silnikach spalinowych o zapłonie iskrowym w zastosowaniu do pozadrogowych maszyn ruchomych powszechne jest zasilanie paliwem z wykorzystaniem gaźników. Mechaniczny proces regulacji składu mieszanki paliwowo-powietrznej utrudnia automatyzację procesów z wykorzystaniem tych silników, których jednym z reprezentantów jest silnik German 390. W pracy przedstawiono koncepcje rozwiązań automatyzacji procesu sterowania mieszanką paliwowo-powietrzną. Wykazano wady i zalety zastosowanych rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych przekazania ruchu między aktorem napędzającym klapę przepustnicy, a klapą przepustnicy zespołu wtryskowego 30 MM4 firmy Weber. Wśród wymienionych rozwiązań scharakteryzowano: przekładnie zębatą, przekładnie cięgnową z pasem zębatym, mechanizm dźwigniowy, sprzęgło sztywne. Ponadto przedstawiono prototyp rozwiązania z wykorzystaniem przekładni cięgnowej z pasem zębatym.

The life cycle cost (LCC) methodology provides understanding of economic aspects of urban buses equipped with different types of propulsion. The LCC analysis delivers the sum of costs related to the acquisition, operation, repair and maintenance disposal as well as the costs for the each bus power train technology. The method allows to take into account all costs for the whole vehicle’s life cycle and creates a precondition for precise information database for decision making. In addition to the economic factors LCC can be extended to environmental aspects such as greenhouse gases emissions. The environmental impacts of the vehicle lifetime may be presented in monetary values. The paper presents the Life Cycle Cost analysis undertaken for urban buses fitted with conventional, series hybrid and parallel hybrid drives. Provided LCC analysis includes the economic and environmental aspects. The paper also delivers the evaluation of the total air pollutant emissions for all stages of lifetime of the each analysed urban bus. The results show that the hybrids have slightly lower life cycle cost than conventional bus. Moreover, hybrid buses were found to have lower life cycle environmental impacts.

Opis:
The total CO2 emission of electric vehicle depends on a renewable energy share in an energy market of given country. At the moment, this share is significant only in a few European countries (Denmark, Germany, Scandinavian countries) having large number of water, solar and wind power plants. Additionally, France may be considered as a country possessing low-emission electric energy, because around 90% of this energy is generated by a nuclear power plants. In order to compare the greenhouse gas emission from an electric vehicle with combustion powered cars well-to-wheel (WtW) methodology may be applied. The well-to-wheel emission estimates the total CO2 which is required to generate a given power measured on vehicle wheels including generating, transferring and processing losses. The magnitude of WtW varies from 0g/km in the case of a vehicle charged directly by a solar or wind powered charging point to 200 g/km in the case of charging form public grid powered by old coal power plants. For the Polish energy market the share of renewable energy sources is negligible (below 10%), moreover majority of a power plants uses coal to generate electricity. However, according to the EU strategy this share should be doubled until 2020. Additionally, it is considered building of a nuclear power plant, which results in further reduction of CO2 from energetic industry. In this article WtW CO2 emission of electric driven vehicle charged from the public grid was analyzed for Polish conditions at present and various growth scenario as well. Moreover, an actual energy market structure as well as growth perspectives were reviewed.

The automotive industry is one of the fastest developing branches in the world. From year to year on the roads appear more and more cars. In the modern vehicles, better and more efficient technologies reducing exhaust emission are applied. However, the cars are still the leading source of air pollution, especially in towns and cities. Car exhaust gases have adverse effect on the human health, because they form so-called “low emission”. It means that they are released into the troposphere at the people living height. As a result, people are exposed to the direct and long-lasting contact with the fumes. Therefore, precise assessment is very important to the vehicles’ impact on the quality of the atmospheric air. The review of the evaluation methods of the impact of vehicles on the air quality was presented in the paper, with special regard to the mathematical dispersion modelling of the exhaust gases. In particular, NOx emission by sector in Poland, changing NOx emissions from road transport in Poland in the years 2000-2009 with regard to the change in the number of cars, vertical cross-section of a typical symmetric urban street canyon are presented in the paper.

W publikacji przedstawiono podstawy aerodynamiki pojazdów szynowych w uproszczonym, autorskim ujęciu, które w sposób ilościowy obrazuje układ obciążeń działających na skład pociągu w trakcie ruchu. W artykule wskazano na zakresy prac prowadzonych w ramach aerodynamiki pojazdów szynowych oraz omówiono jej specyficzne wykorzystanie dla określenia intensywności oddawania ciepła generowanego w trakcie hamowania do otoczenia z układu koło kolejowe – klocek hamulcowy (KKH). Uzyskany w ten sposób rozkład współczynnika konwekcji jest podstawową wielkością niezbędną do wykorzystania w trakcie modelowania wszelkich zjawisk termicznych w układzie KKH. W ramach publikacji przedstawiono również wyniku rozkładu prędkości strugi powietrza dla hamowania lokomotywą EU07 z prędkości 100 km/h.
The paper presents the basics of rail vehicles aerodynamics from the simplified, copyright perspective that quantitatively shows the arrangement of loads acting on the train during movement. The article indicates the ranges of work carried out as part of rail vehicles aerodynamics and discusses its specific use for defining the intensity of the given heat generated during braking into the environment from the railway wheel - brake block system (KKH).In this way the obtained distribution of convection coefficient is a fundamental quantity needed for use in the modeling of all thermal phenomena in the system KKH. As part of the publication the result of the velocity distribution of air stream for the EU07 locomotive braking from a speed of 100 km / h is also presented.

Opis:
Safe, efficient and user-friendly transportation of people and goods have been a premier point of concern for all the developed and the developing countries around the globe. National Highway N-5 or GT road is the most important highway link in Pakistan. It carries about 80% of the country freight traffic. When this heavy traffic passes through the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, it causes congestion and environmental hazards particularly in business centers of Rawalpindi city. Because of this heavy traffic volume passing through the cities situated along N-5, bypasses to all of them have been provided however, Rawalpindi is the only city along N5 which is still without a bypass. A bypass to Rawalpindi city is, therefore, inevitable. Besides this, the Bypass will also provide a short access to the traffic on the Motorway (M2) destined for the western part of Rawalpindi. For this research work, Rawalpindi Bypass is taken as a hypothetical scenario and is evaluated for its benefits. Besides addition to the networks of highways across Pakistan, this bypass has many other benefits which include a decrease in congestion from Islamabad and Rawalpindi main arteries (ISB Highway and IJP Road) that results in travel time savings, vehicle operating cost savings, safety savings, and reduced air pollution. This research aims to produce an engineering and scientific comparison of various costs and benefits associated with the road agency and users about the construction of an alternative. The Project involves transportation demand estimation on different segments of the National and Arterial roads, Project Costs, travel time savings, safety saving, vehicle operating cost savings, economic efficiency analysis, Air quality impact and multi criterion transportation decision making. The transportation decision making process usually involves the evaluation of effectiveness and efficiency of an alternative decision with respect to a base case DO-NOTHING Scenario. The authors have taken the existing roadway structure with no improvements as DO-NOTHING Scenario, whereas the construction of Rawalpindi Bypass (60 km) with 2 lanes in each direction is taken as Alternative B and Rawalpindi Bypass (51 km) as Alternative C. Multi criteria decision making technique is used for decision because of multiple options with different dimensions, both monetary and non-monetary. Basing of MCDM this study recommends Alternative C (51 km) for Rawalpindi Bypass.

Pneumatic suspension is increasingly used in many cars. Control of a car body level is the main function of the pneumatic suspension. The experimental determination of the pneumatic spring characteristics suitable for the design and modeling of the car level control system is presented. The characteristics of the pneumatic spring are determined, that determine the quality of the control system. The effect of temperature changes inside the pneumatic spring is experimentally determined due to heat exchange on air pressure and vertical force during alignment of the car body. In addition, through modeling is evaluated by changing the level of the car body due to the impact of heat transfer. An original method of controlling the lifting and lowering of the vehicle body is proposed. The method is based on the energy balance and is the basis for reducing the number of strokes of the electropneumatic valve. The change in the level of the body due to the temperature effect is leveled due to the indirect consideration of this effect using the pressure sensor in the cylinder.

Traffic-related emissions, apart from emissions from fuel combustion for heating purposes, significantly deteriorate air quality in cities. The above mainly concerns areas located close to busy traffic routes. According to epidemiological studies, traffic-related emissions have an adverse health effect. This specifically affects commuters (drivers and car passengers) as well as pedestrians. The aim of this study was to determine the variations of particle number and mass concentrations along a busy road in Lublin, Poland and their impact on the particle exposure for commuters and pedestrians. On-route and fixed-site measurements were performed in the summer (June) with a focus on peak and off-peak traffic hours and road sections with low and high traffic intensity. During peak hours, the average number concentration of ultrafine particles (PN0.1) in the road section near 4-way traffic intersections (TIs) was about 2 times higher than during off-peak hours. The average mass concentration of fine particles (PM2.5) was also approximately twice as high than in off-peak hours. Similar relations were found for other measured aerosol particles as well as with respect to particle exposure. The obtained results indicate the need for further extended research on traffic-related emissions and exposure and the ways of limiting them.

Współcześnie produkowane pojazdy mają wiele systemów wspomagających pracę kierowcy i zdecydowanie podnoszą nie tylko bezpieczeństwo ludzi, ale przyczyniają się do ograniczanie liczby wypadków drogowych. Zjawiska te dotyczą również komfortu pasażerów, a już szczególnie kierowcy. Jednym z takich systemów jest układ klimatyzacji, który wymaga odpowiednich nastaw regulacyjnych tak, by utrzymywać pożądane parametry termiczne wewnątrz. W niniejszej pracy przeprowadzono pomiary temperatury w pięciu punktach wewnętrznych kabiny samochodu osobowego: w okolicach nóg, kolan i głowy kierowcy oraz na wysokości kolan pasażerów tylnej kanapy. Badania prowadzono przy nawiewie na nogi i głowę przy maksymalnej nastawie chłodzenia, ale przy trzech różnych położeniach pokrętła dmuchawy. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że - przy zadanych nastawach regulacyjnych - najbardziej równomierny, a więc i najkorzystniejszy rozkład temperatury wewnątrz kabiny samochodu występuje przy niskim stopniu turbulizacji przepływu. Odpowiada to minimalnej wydajności dmuchawy w systemie omówiony klimatyzacji.
Today the vehicles have a lot of driver assistance systems and significantly improve not only the safety of people, but contribute to the reduction of road accidents. These phenomena also apply to passenger comfort, and especially the driver. One such system is the air-conditioning system, which requires appropriate regulatory settings so as to maintain the desired thermal parameters inside. In this paper, temperature me-asurements were performed at five levels inside the cabin of a passenger car: in the leg, knee and head and knee-high passenger rear seats. The study was conducted with ventilation on the legs and head at maximum cooling setpoints, but at three different positions rotary blower. The study shows that - with the given regulatory settings - the most uniform, and thus most favorable temperature distribution inside the vehicle cabin occurs at a low degree of turbulence of the air stream. This corresponds to a minimum productivity of the blower of the air-conditioning system.

Opis:
The effects of additional cavities and air-gaps in the acoustic response of a passenger vehicle are investigated. It is observed that the cabin cavity and the trunk cavity of the passenger vehicle are connected through an aperture in the rear seat. In the trunk cavity of the vehicle, there are two more air-gaps which are designed as countermeasures to trunk lid slam noise. It is established that acoustic modes and acoustic eigenfrequencies of the vehicle are altered through the trunk cavity and its air-gaps. To develop an analytical solution, the actual acoustic cavity is simplified into a rectangular shape. In the analytical solution, the coupling of trunk and cabin cavities is considered. It is shown that the computational analysis results match well with the results of the analytical solution proposed. Further, the resonator effect of air-gaps present in the trunk cavity is examined.

The results of the research to substantiate the possibility and feasibility of raising the pneumatic spring suspension system for realization of efficient damping of vibrations of vehicle bodies, which are equipped with such a suspension, are presented. The influence of parameters of system components of the pneumatic spring suspension and gas-thermal and dynamic phenomena in it on the damping factor of vibrations and the development of the amplitudes of the vibrations in laminar and turbulent mode of the air flow through the orifice that connects the air spring and the additional reservoir was revealed. The dependence of the damping coefficient on the cross-section of the throttle orifice and the capacity of the additional reservoir in both modes of the air flow through the throttle was investigated. It was offered to take into account the "active" capacity of the air spring. It was also grounded the influence of natural frequency and density of the air on the damping ratio, which significantly improved the mathematical model that describes vibrations of boogie parts of vehicles on air springs. An example of calculations of the coefficient of damping of the pneumatic spring suspension for the vehicle was given. It is proved that the pneumatic spring suspension allows you to abandon hydraulic or other vibrations dampers completely by proper choosing of its parameters.

Opis:
The possibility of vertical take-off of an aircraft is a valuable feature in air transport. It allows to increase operational characteristics of an air vehicle and requires less field and low cost ground infrastructure. Currently the vertical take-off feature is practically reserved to helicopters and tilt-rotor aircrafts. Both types of air vehicles have their advantages and also have some important limitations. Regarding the helicopters their construction provides natural vertical take-off features and makes them useful in low altitude flight tasks. However the power required for flight and main rotor kinematics results in low cruising speed and short range performance. The tilt-rotor aircraft is an answer which provides good cruise characteristics saving the vertical take-off feature. The construction of tiltrotor aircraft consists of rotors with adjustable position of tip-path plane. The main technical problem of tilt-rotors is necessity of change aerodynamic configuration from vertical mode to cruise mode at low flight altitude and very low flight speed. A proposed conception of a vertical take-off air vehicle using self-aligning moving wings is focused on producing aerodynamic force always on wings without participation of rotors or propellers. The self-aligning or semirotating wing movement enables to produce aerodynamic force in each flight speed. During take-off lift force is generated by means of power unit driving the wings. The transition from hovering to progressive flight is a smooth phase without aerodynamic configuration changes. It occur as a result of change in wing kinematics or gravity center position. As the flight speed increases the lift force is generated like in classic airplane wing and the power unit load decreases. The conception of presented air vehicle assume to join best features of airplanes and helicopters i.e. vertical take-off, good flight performances and lack of strict border between both phases of flight.
