Between 1990 and 2014 maritime and air transport, together with telecommunications in Poland underwent deep fluctuations and structural changes based on dynamic systematic and economic transformations, the EU membership and technological change. Air freight increased, while the importance of maritime and inland water freight decreased. A spectacular increase was observed in air passenger transport, particularly on international routes. Maritime passenger transport slightly increased and at the same time inland passenger transport substantially decreased. Poland s membership in the EU caused a massive increase in international road and air transport, however, the overall freight decreased. The technological change was expressed particularly through the development of mobile communications and the Internet

Zmieniające się uwarunkowania funkcjonowania i rozwoju transportu lotniczego wymuszają przeprowadzanie ciągłego monitorowania potrzeb przewozowych pasażerów realizujących podróże lotnicze oraz ich oczekiwań w stosunku do realizowanej usługi. Jest to szczególne istotne wobec procesów konkurencyjnych na rynku międzygałęziowym i wewnątrzgałęziowym. Analiza postulatów przewozowych wymusza dostosowanie oferty kierowanej do podróżnych. Te oczekiwania mogą być odmienne dla wybranych segmentów podróży. Głównym celem artykułu jest analiza postulatów przewozowych i przedstawienie sposobów zaspokajania ich na rynku regionalnym. Rynek ten został poddany analizie ze względu na duży udział przewozów regionalnych w ogólnej strukturze przewozów lotniczych. Analizę postulatów przewozowych przeprowadzono dla wszystkich połączeń regionalnych oraz podróży z przewoźnikiem tradycyjnym i niskokosztowym oraz w segmencie podróży służbowych i turystycznych, a także dla połączeń bezpośrednich i pośrednich.
Changing the conditions for the functioning and development of air transport requires constant monitoring of passenger needs and their transport requirements in relation to air services. This is particularly important for competitive processes in the interand intra-industry market. The analysis of the transport postulates forces the adjustment of the offer addressed to travelers. These expectations may be different for selected travel segments. The main aim of the article is to analyze transport requirements and to present means of satisfying them in the regional air transport market in Poland. This market has been analyzed due to the large share of regional transport in the overall structure of air transport. The analysis of transport postulates was conducted for all regional connections and for travel with traditional and low cost carriers, as well as in the business travel and tourism segment and for direct and indirect connections.

Europe is one of the densely populated continents on Earth. A characteristic feature of the European air transport service market is co-existence of several and large communication centres performing trans-continental links and dense net of local links between the majority of small cities and tourist resorts. Europe is an exceptional area with unique properties favouring regional development of the air transport system of light amphibian aircraft with the use of small and medium airports and natural water landings. Europe has a huge partly unused potential of airports and landing grounds, which can be the basis for creating a competitive travel offer around Europe by light passenger amphibian aircrafts. They can use less busy airports and adjusted and re-qualified landing grounds as well as natural landing fields on water. The potential places for take-off and landing operations are port pools located on the coast of the sea, lake or big rivers. Operators and entrepreneurs interested in starting new seaplane businesses report about missing modern airplanes. The aim of the paper is to conduct comparative analysis of the characteristics of selected types of light amphibian aircrafts (existed and modified presently used land-based planes), helped to identify best fitted seaplane to estimated range of operation.

Air transport is currently one of the major branches of transport both in the national – and global – economies. It is one of the fastest, most expensive, but at the same time also most effective types of transportation. It plays a fundamental role in the global economy, particularly in the transcontinental carriage of goods and passengers. Its availability and quality constitute a powerful driving force for a country’s development. Air freight transport, both in Poland and worldwide, is seen mostly from the angle of long-distance passenger flights. Given that, one often tends to forget the role of this transport branch in the case of freight transport. Air cargo transport is a booming branch with great development potential. The development of air freight is the key for gaining a competitive advantage by Polish enterprises. This, however, is related to considerable experience and knowledge on the part of both the carrier and the owner of goods with regards to the technical capacities of a given aircraft, maintenance costs, and rule awareness. The objective of the paper is to present the volumes of air cargo shipments in Poland and to identify the hazards and obstacles to its development. The study authors endeavour to analyse air freight transport in Poland. To this end, details will be presented regarding air cargo transport at Polish airports based on the Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) and Central Statistical Office (GUS) data and air market reports.

The objective of this contribution is the application of a new methodology for assessing connectivity in passenger transport regarding selected tariff points accessibility in the context of developing the selected region. From the passenger´s point of view, it is necessary to specially assess the accessibility of lines within transportation, between the selected destinations using passenger air transport. The length of the travel time, the number of necessary transfers and the number of travel opportunities affects the possibilities of transport between place A and B. The connections and lines are thus influenced by many factors. This is the basic point to consider when designing a set of evaluation criteria for assessing the connectivity and in carrying out a case study for a specific region. In this paper, Václav Havel Airport in Prague (Czech Republic) with selected air transport connections were evaluated according to the proposed methodology.

In the article, an aerodynamic interference between pusher propeller slipstream and the airframe of the aircraft powered by it has been presented, based on a literature study. A pusher propeller is one of popular types of the airplane propulsion. It is applied mainly in light sport aircrafts, in the UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), unorthodox vehicles, like compound helicopters, canard and joined wing aircrafts etc. The main advantage of pusher propeller is that the engine with the pusher propeller does not affect the visibility from the cockpit and allows placing an electronic equipment in the front part of the UAV’s fuselage. Furthermore, reduced cabin noise and increase in stability due to acting normal force aft of the centre of gravity are other benefits of this configuration. The pusher propeller impact on the airframe, especially on the wing, is qualitatively different from the tractor configuration. Main differences between both propulsions has been discussed, as well as aerodynamic benefits of the pusher propeller – like reduction of separated flow area and extending area of laminar boundary layer. However, an application of pusher propeller may have also negative impact, especially lower performance than tractor propeller. In the article the reasons of this suppression has been briefly discussed.

While considering the issue of the air transport safety, special attention should be given to projects related to air transport of hazardous materials, which occupy an increasingly important position in the global air transport. The authors of this article undertook the analysis of selected aspects of security aiming at minimization of the risks occurring during transportation of hazardous materials. Nevertheless, the main subject of research is a human factor and its impact on the possibility of occurrence of flight events involving dangerous substances and objects. As a result of the analysis the main causes of flight events caused by air transport participants were indicated and discussed. The examples illustrate the gaps and short comings in the transport procedures for these materials. These procedures should be updated from time to time by the knowledge acquired through the experience of the occurrence of bad or irregular shipments of dangerous goods.

The passenger and aircraft crew safety is the major requirement of the aircraft operation. Its continuous enhancement is the major task not only for design bureaus, aircraft manufacturers, services, but is also the subject of training and educational activities as well. Presented article focuses on analysis of needs and methods application, regarding risk mitigation in aircraft operation, considering aviation engineering training and education in compliance with EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Module 12, Part 66 - titled as “Helicopter aerodynamics, structure and systems”. Topicality of the contribution results from necessity of implementation educational technology into university education as well as individual preparation of aircraft maintenance staff. The contribution has two parts – paper and multimedia form. Paper form is analysis of the connection among safety, education and ergatic system (machine-man-environment). Multimedia form consists of Module 12 with its text, figures, videos, photos and interactive tests.
Bezpieczeństwo pasażera oraz personelu kabinowego jest głównym wymaganiem w obsłudze statku powietrznego. Ciągłe zwiększanie bezpieczeństwa jest nie tylko zadaniem biur projektowych, producentów samolotów, sektora usługowego ale również przedmiotem szkoleń i edukacji. Poniższy artykuł koncentruje się na analizie potrzeb i metod związanych ze zmniejszaniem ryzyka w obsłudze statku powietrznego, szkoleń dotyczących inżynierii awiacji oraz edukacji w ramach EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Module 12, Part 66 - titled as “Helicopter aerodynamics, structure and systems” – moduł 12, część 66 zatytułowana „ Aerodynamika, struktura i systemy helikoptera”. Tematyka tej pracy wynika z potrzeby wdrożenia technologii edukacyjnej do programu edukacyjnego uniwersytetów, a także indywidualnego przygotowania służb utrzymania danego statku powietrznego. Praca składa się z dwóch części – papierowej i multimedialnej. Część papierowa stanowi analizę powiązań pomiędzy bezpieczeństwem, edukacją oraz systemem maszyna-człowiek-środowisko. Część multimedialna składa się z Modułu 12 z tekstem, danymi liczbowymi, video, zdjęciami oraz testami interaktywnymi.

The paper is an introduction into the area of hazardous materials transportation. It includes the description of hazardous materials, classification of hazardous materials, and the list of documents necessary for organizing transport of such materials, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of air transport of hazardous materials, and identification and resolution of problems. The aim of the article is to present the up-to-date information on air transport of explosives in the Polish Army, to identify the problems encountered during the transport preparation process, and to discuss the solution that may improve the current state of affairs. The improvements proposed by the authors include: improvement of dangerous goods labeling, introduction of Polish instructions and transport documents in the Polish Armed Forces, and training of the personnel handling transport in Poland. The proposed solution, when implemented, would help to reduce mistakes in labeling goods, enhance the training process of personnel handling transport, as well as to facilitate the preparation of transport documentation. The starting point for the proposed results came from own research, interviews with specialists dealing with the transport of hazardous materials, including explosives, as well as international transport manuals and instructions.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wielkości lotniczych przewozów cargo w Polsce. W artykule zaprezentowane są wyniki badań przewozów lotniczych cargo na podstawie danych GUS, ULC i portów lotniczych w ostatnich latach. Niewiele ponad 1% światowego tonażu jest przewożone drogą lotniczą, jednak w ujęciu wartościowym stanowi to 35% wartości światowego handlu. Wpływ lotnisk na gospodarkę w Polsce jest mniejszy niż w wielu innych krajach UE. Sieć lotnisk przyczynia się do powstania rocznie 4% polskiego PKB. Porty lotnicze tworzą także ponad 440 tys. miejsc pracy w kraju. Rynek frachtu lotniczego w Polsce zasadniczo należy do trzech linii lotniczych: Polskich Linii Lotniczych LOT SA Cargo (18,3%), Lufthansy (17,6%) i Emirates (9,3%), które zajmują 45% rynku powietrznych przewozów towarowych. Najwięksi spedytorzy to DHL Global Forwarding posiadający 15% rynku przewozów z Polski, CEVA Logistic -7%, DB Schenker - 6,4%. Rocznie drogą powietrzną przewozi się w Polsce 76 200 ton, czyli około 1% całego frachtu lotniczego w Europie. Tymczasem Belgia, Francja, Holandia, Niemcy i Wielka Brytania zajmują 70 - procentowy udział w transportowaniu towarów drogą lotniczą. Dowodzi to, że przewozy cargo są ściśle skorelowane z rozwojem gospodarczym danego kraju. W Polsce w dalszym ciągu wielkość eksportu i importu dóbr drogą lotniczą jest niewielka. Jednym z rezultatów badawczych artykułu jest przegląd literatury dotyczącej lotniczych przewozów cargo oraz odniesienie się do konkurencyjności polskich portów lotniczych na tle innych krajów UE. Druga część artykułu to wyniki badań trendów w lotnictwie przewozów towarowych z wyszczególnieniem infrastruktury, środków transport lotniczego, ogólnych kierunków rozwoju oraz wielkości i wartości rynku usług lotniczych cargo.
The aim of the article is to present the size of air cargo in Poland. In the article are presented results of air cargo based on GUS, ULC and airports data in recent years. A little more than 1% of world tonnage is transported by air, but in terms of value, this is 35% of world trade. The impact of airports on the economy in Poland is lower than in many other EU countries. The network of airports contributes to the annual 4% of Polish GDP. Airports also create more than 440 thousand. jobs in the country. Air freight market in Poland essentially belongs to the three airlines: LOT Polish Airlines Cargo SA (18.3%), Lufthansa (17.6%) and Emirates (9.3%), which occupy 45% of the market for air freight. Major shippers DHL Global Forwarding is holding 15% of the Polish transport market, CEVA Logistics − 7%, DB Schenker − 6.4%. Per year by air transported to Poland 76 200 tons, or about 1% of all air freight in Europe. Meanwhile, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom occupy 70 percent share in transporting goods by air. This proves that the transport of cargo is closely correlated with the economic development of the country. The volume of export and import of goods by air in Poland is small. One of the results of the research article is to review the literature on air cargo and a reference to the competitiveness of Polish airports in other EU countries. The second part of the article the results of research trends in the aviation freight detailing infrastructure, means of transport by air, the broad lines of development, and the volume and value market for air cargo services.

Initiating changes in the service of passenger flows transformed also the structure of transportation. In result systematically increase the role of regional airports. Expansion of foreign low-cost carriers take a big part of the transformation of this market. According to prognosis of The Civil Aviation Office (CAO) and IATA, the Polish regional airports could service to over 63 millions of passengers in the year 2030. However it demend considerable investment at airoprts infrastructure and air navigation.

The paper deals with the measurement of intra-industry trade (IIT) in air transport services and it´s components (passenger and air cargo services) among the United States of America and 31 chosen countries in time period 2000-2011. For the purpose of analysis, we used traditional and alternative methods of IIT measurements. Results of the analysis confirm the existence of IIT in air transport services and it´s components (passenger and air cargo services between The United States of America and 31 chosen countries in time period 2000-2011. On the other hand, we are unable to determine the trend of IIT in air transport services between The United States of America and 31 chosen countries in time period 2000-2011because of fluctuating turnover values.
Статья посвящена анализу внутриотраслевой торговли (IIT) в авиатранспортных услугах и их компонентах (пассажирских и грузовых авиаперевозках) между Соединенными Штатами Америки и 31 выбранными странами в период 2000-2011 г. Для целей анализа были использованы традиционные и альтернативные методы измерения IIT. Результаты анализа подтверждают существование IIT в авиатранспортных услугах и их компонентах (пассажирских и грузовых перевозках) в воздухе между Соединенными Штатами Америки и 31 выбранными странами в период 2000-2011 г. С другой стороны, невозможно определить тенденции в IIT авиатранспортных услуг между Соединенными Штатами Америки и 31 выбранными странами в период 2000-2011 поскольку значения колеблются.

The paper presents computational simulations of loss of helicopter tail rotor effectiveness (LTE) effect caused by rotor vortex ring state (VRS) phenomenon. The phenomenon is critical for safety of helicopter operations and it was an important factor in some military and civil helicopters serious accidents. Analysis was conducted on the example of the tail rotor of Mi2 and PZL Kania single main rotor medium helicopters, which are still in wide use in some parts of the world. That kind of dual blades tail rotor was designed with symmetrical NACA0012 airfoil. Full three-dimensional analysis of the flow around real geometry of the rotor blades was conducted by application of commercial solver Ansys Fluent. The simulation was made by resolving Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations by finite volume method with use of Moving Mesh and Moving Reference Frame techniques. A hover turn over a spot was chosen as flight condition of helicopter, which could induce the LTE phenomenon. Thrust and power consumption were estimated during computations. Visualization of the flow field and pathlines of the flow were presented for chosen stages of vortex ring formulation around the rotor. The sensitivity of dual blades tail rotors, which are popular in light and medium type of helicopters to LTE phenomenon, was estimated.

One of the most important factors in the development of modern civilization has become the increase in the significance of mobile and fast means of transportation of people and cargo. Aircraft as the fastest available means in the entire transportation system is the basis in places where the distance in the transportation of people is long and the travel time is short. The present work focuses on passenger transport in the European area using light transport aircraft, which may complement existing air transport and can become a real alternative to those who travel by other means of transport. The system of local transportation will become competitive in relation to other means of transport and will find its place on the market only when it has the highest indicators of efficiency. It can be reached by optimally obtaining passenger aircrafts fleet structure performing transportation tasks and optimizing its functioning. One of the basic problems is the rational selection and use of aircrafts, i.e. the minimization of their quantity while at the same time guarantee complete performance of transporting tasks. The selection of the best method of using the means of transport is connected with a large number of alternative variants, which makes it necessary to use special methods of searching for optimal solutions. The quality of the aircraft fleet should be estimated on the basis of several criteria when taking into account the difference in performing tasks. The way to design a competing aircraft fleet is to choose its characteristics by using advanced methods of multiple objective optimization. This work presents the methodology of the optimal designing of the aircraft fleet using the multitask character of the matter which is based on multiple objective mathematical programming in the concept of the set theory.

In recent years, the aviation sector has been developing dynamically. The constant increase in the number of passengers contributes to an escalation in the number of air operations. This trend is mainly due to the increased traffic not only in airspace but also within airports. The large concentration of aircraft at the largest airports makes ground-flying phases such as taxiing or take-off becoming a challenge for pilots, ground services, and air traffic controllers. An intensive operation of many objects on the airport's manoeuvring areas can lead to collisions between them. Global air traffic is growing constantly, with record numbers of air operations and passengers carried. The probability of a collision increases, which leads not only to the cancellation of the flight but also to the significant costs of the aircrafts repair. The statistical analysis allows to highlight the problems related to the issue of ground collisions at airports and can also confirm the thesis concerning the growth and density of air traffic.

Very high air traffic density in the largest airports and in their vicinity involves that the air traffic in the largest airports and their areas of operations approaches the capacity limits. Such high density of the air traffic adversely influences the natural environment in the vicinity of the airports due to the increasing cumulative noise level and the concentration of environmentally hazardous substances. One of the possibilities to improve the situation is to work out innovative solutions aimed at decreasing the aircraft pollution and improving the transport effectiveness. One of the major concepts is using magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) technology to support aircraft take-off and landing. If the aircraft could take-off and start the initial climb phase with the ground power, the installed power may be reduced, resulting in less weight, less drag and less overall fuel consumption which leads to emission reduction. These advantages, the lower fuel consumption and emissions, increase sustainability of the transportation system. Different conditions of the take-off give possibilities to shape the trajectory after the take-off in order to decrease the negative influence on the environment. The aim of the present work was to determine the optimal conditions of the take-off and the optimal climb trajectory of the aircraft aided in the ground phase of the take-off by the system using the MAGLEV technology, minimizing the fuel consumption. The simplified algorithm of optimization of the flight trajectory was used in this work; it uses the method of approximation of the flight path by the third degree polynomial.

The aim of this article is to describe simulation results of a bird strike with a helicopter windshield. The simulation was performed based on LS-DYNA software by means of the SPH and Lagrangian methods. For the sake of the analysis, we selected a light helicopter, which is not covered by any certification requirements with regard to the windshield. The simulations were conducted for various bird shapes (sphere, cylinder, cylinder with hemispherical endings) for the cruising speed of Vc = 285 km/h. As a result of the simulations, we achieved comparative analyses of the methods at stake in the aspect of time curves of the kinetic energy, velocity and windshield deformation. The findings are depicted graphically and are presented in the form of charts. The deformations that were obtained as a result of the conducted tests may be referred to the data included in the AAIB report, which described the case of damaging the Agusta A-109C helicopter due to a collision with a seagull at the speed of approximately 278 km/h. The deformations obtained through numerical simulation do not make an accurate representation of this type of damage as in the case of a real one. Nevertheless, they reveal its character. While examining the test simulations from the quantity viewpoint, it is possible to observe slight discrepancies related to the applied approaches of bird modelling. In case of the kinetic energy, the slight discrepancies in the initial moment stem from rounding the mass of a single particle of the model, by means of the SPH method. The velocity curves of the accepted centre of the bird model vary considerably, depending upon its shape, which is linked with the deformation manner of the particular models.

The study aims to estimate the air travel demand forecast for domestic passengers' travels in Nigeria from 2002-2016. Data resourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria. The study utilized a multiple regression model using a Stata-Graphic software solver to analyze the data. From the analysis, the result shows that there is a significant relationship between the explanatory variable (passengers) and unexplanatory variables National Disposable Income, Population, Average Airfare, Gross Domestic Product, Exchange Rate, Total Expenditure, and Crude oil price, accounted for adjusted R of 93.624% relationship with demand for domestic air travel of passenger. The R-square statistic shows that the fitted model explains the variability in the number of passengers (NPAX), which is 96.8124%. The Hypothesis testing reveals that National Disposable Income and Airfare have a strong statistically significant relationship with the demand for domestic air travel with a P-value of 0.0013. Mores, a statistically significant relationship exists between National Disposable Income, Average airfare, and Crude oil price with P-values of 0.0017 and 0.0445, respectively. Furthermore, a forecast of the number of passengers and average airfare was carried out using ARIMA (1,0,0) model, which made available the future predicted values for the number of passenger movements and average airfare for the next 10-12 years to come. Thus, the study recommends that stakeholders in the air transport sector should work towards improving the capacity and infrastructure to accommodate the growth of air travel demand for domestic air travel in Nigeria. Policy implications were made on regulating the sector by having a good pricing policy to control the air fare for the industry.

Atmospheric icing poses a threat for safety in many areas of transport, especially in air transport and exerts harmful impact on operation of external sensors and mechanisms of aircraft, ships and land vehicles. In order to investigate phenomena leading to ice accretion on sensitive parts of objects exposed to icing conditions numerical simulation models are in use. These models are typically composed of submodels dealing with a fragment of the complex phenomenon of ice accretion and its interaction with external flow. A practical approach to simulation of icing process is to divide it into three problems being solved interactively: 1) simulation of two-phase flow of air and dispersed supercooled water and determination of distribution of mass of water hitting the object’s surface, 2) determination of conditions on the surface collecting supercooled water from the external flow and simulation of freezing and water film flow, and 3) modification of computational grid as a consequence of change of shape of the surface with deposits of ice. A simulation system directed at investigation of atmospheric icing on moving object is being developed as an extension of capabilities of a commercial CFD code ANSYS FLUENT. Solutions of two-phase flow of air and dispersed water with specific boundary conditions enabling the determination of distribution of water hitting the surface, as well as results of modelling of water film flow on the surface will be presented. The system of equations describing the transport of the dispersed water consists of the continuity and momentum equations. It is assumed, that interactions between the phases are onedirectional, i.e. the air flow influences the water droplet flow and not vice-versa. It is also assumed that the water film velocity distribution is linear in direction normal to surface. This way, both phenomena are being described with first order partial differential equations with respect to space and time and the solution approaches may be similar.

The main aim of this article is to present a balance of the decade of Polish air transport market in the European Union having taking into account selected entities of the aviation market. This article analyzes the functioning of the Polish air transport market after the polish accession to the European Union. During the study two main areas were pointed: air carriers activity and activity of the airports. The most important benefits of integration and the benefits of introducing of the open sky policy were indicated. The last part of article presents the perspectives od development of air traffic in Poland.

This paper focuses on analysis of arrival behavioural pattern of air travellers and provides operational data gathered through three independent data collection capaigns at three different airports. This paper aims at comprehensive analysis of the arrival processes at the following airports: Bratislava Airport in the Slovak Republic (LZIB), Brno-Turany Airport in the Czech Republic (LKTB) and Hamburg Airport (EDDH) in Germany. This paper also provides a description the airports in terms of annual passenger throughput, number of movements and further airside and landside characteristics.

Friction pair tests or model brake tests are one of the trials done in order to evaluate friction pair materials usefulness in full-scale brakes. Such tests are both time consuming and expensive, so most of the manufacturers want to reduce them as much as possible by using numerical simulations for both time and costs savings. It is not possible to eliminate laboratory tests entirely because of the safety regulations requirements. Without regulatory compliance, no brake material can be used in consumer products such as cars or airplanes. Nowadays most of the FEM programs are capable of simulate braking (friction) process in many of its aspects. Accuracy of calculations varies according to complexity of the model and phenomena taken into account. One of the interesting aspects of braking is the friction temperature generation especially due to its destructive impact on the vehicle brakes. Laboratory evaluation of the temperature can be performed in limited spectrum because of inaccessibility of the friction area. FEM calculations can help to determine temperature changes and temperature value during process. It also helps to determine temperature induced damaging conditions for the friction material or the whole brake design. In this paper author compares FEM of friction temperature calculations and laboratory test performed in Landing Gear Laboratory of Institute of Aviation in Warsaw where author works on daily basis. FEM simulation was created in order to resemble mentioned friction material test and to create model of the geometry of the tested material including test stand parts. All of the calculations were performed using COMSOL MULTIPHISICS software.

The article presents the results of research among passengers using Polish airports in 2013 regarding safety issues. The main objective of the study was to prove the thesis that safety is not essential in the choice of air service. Based on the theoretical research, an overview of the issue of safety management is presented. Then, on the basis of the author’s own research, safety as a factor in the choice of air transport is postulated. For this purpose, the role of safety in relation to other factors affecting the choice of air services is shown. Thereafter, the profile of a passenger for whom the issue of safety is a factor encouraging their choice of air service is presented.

The aircraft Airbus A380 is the biggest aircraft in present time. Many airports need to adapt their airside infrastructure. The main duties concerns upgrading runways, and taxiways, relocating taxiways and even relocating aircraft stands and buildings to provide sufficient wings clearance. There are many hubs in the world, which must rebuild elements of infrastructures for A380. Besides these large hub and main base airports, there are other airports around the world that will experience A380 operations. The operating frequency could be either on regular basis, such as one or two scheduled arrivals a day, but also may be a much lower frequency such as for a flight diversion. Such diversions could be either due to the unavailability of the destination airport (because of weather or operational issues) or because of an in-flight emergency. It is in the interest of in-flight safety to have a reasonable number of alternate airports and runways available in addition to the scheduled ones. Aircraft operations regulations make a distinction between destination alternate aerodromes, other alternate aerodromes required to be adequate (e.g. in JAR-OPS 1) and in-flight diversion aerodromes. For those alternate airports, large-scale changes to their existing airside infrastructure would be financially excessive and never be economical. On the other hand, especially in the case of a filed alternate, a minimum should be done to properly handle the aircraft and its passengers. In paper is presented necessary requirements to service of airplane the Airbus A380. It is presented on examples of Chopin's airport in Warsaw. Service of this type of airplane requires adaptation of parameters of runway, taxiway and ground operations.

In the paper, the consequences of the influence of globalisation on the market of air transport are assessed. It is shown that alliances and code-share agreements constitute fundamental elements of this process. Basic stimuli and their results were analysed and the outcome shows that the aim of global corporations is integrating companies, markets and economic systems into a homogeneous system encompassing the whole world. The aim of this paper is to present the significance of alliances and code-share agreements in the development of globalisation of air transport. Critical analysis of literature and deduction were used, which allowed to formulate appropriate conclusions and recommendations. Additionally, the method of assessment of complexity of relations between air transport and socio-economic phenomena was used. The identification of processes and sources of competitive stimuli along with barriers in functioning, and the development of both, the sector of air transport and the market as a whole were also taken into consideration. The analysis of activity of subjects forming the global market of air transport services under the conditions of growing competition was made.

Opis:
The gravity method and its expansions in transport economics, analogical to Newton’s gravity law are not the most modern approach to demand estimation. They are, however, simple and applicable to the publicly available data as those of EUROSTAT or national statistics sources. Main assumption is that the trips (or in this case flows of cargo) are produced at an origin and “attracted” to destination according to some identifiable pattern. It is possible to suggest – but not ensure as in Newton’s Physics – these patterns, provided a complete list of socioeconomic data (GDP, population, ...) or other quantifiable conditions in the range (catchment) of all locations (nodes), combined with a series of corresponding flow volumes using a non-linear equation. Each variable of the explanatory side of the equation is equipped with a weight (in econometrics called a parameter). Due to non-linear form of the equation parameters are found using an Iterative calculation that is typically performed by the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (popularized by Ronald Fisher). Validity of calculations are checked using statistical measures of proportionate reduction in uncertainty.
Metoda grawitacyjna i jej inne wariacje w ekonomii transportu, będące analogią wobec newtonowskiego powszechnego prawa ciążenia, nie są najnowszym narzędziem do szacowania popytu. Są, natomiast, proste i możliwe do zastosowania mając do dyspozycji publicznie dostępne dane takie jak te pochodzące z EUROSTAT lub innych źródeł państwowych. Głównym założeniem metody jest to, że podróże (lub poziom przepływu towarów) są generowane w jednych lokalizacjach i są „przyciągane” do pozostałych lokalizacji zgodnie z pewnym identyfikowalnym wzorcem. Możliwe jest zaproponowanie – ale nie ustalenie jak w newtonowskiej fizyce – tych wzorców pod warunkiem, że jest dostępna pełna lista danych socjoekonomicznych (PKB, ludność, …) lub innych policzalnych warunków w zasięgu (strefie ciążenia) wszystkich lokalizacji (węzłów) powiązana z odpowiadającymi im poziomami przepływów przy użyciu funkcji nieliniowej. Każda ze zmiennych ulokowanych po stronie równania, która opisuje zjawisko (przepływy) jest wyposażona w wagę (w ekonometrii zwaną parametrem). Z powodu nieliniowej formy funkcji parametry są obliczane iteracyjnie, co jest najczęściej wykonywane metodą największej wiarygodności. Trafność dopasowania modelu jest sprawdzana metodami statystycznymi badającymi proporcje redukcji niepewności.

The article presents modeling of loading platforms for the automated command system of a field artillery battalion mounted on the light wheeled chassis. According to the operational requirements, the field battalion should be tailored to be transported by the transport aircraft C-130E Hercules, which requires limiting the weight and dimensions of vehicles. Since a vehicle cab height is equal with the exact centimeter precise to the aircraft cargo bay height, it is necessary to reduce the relevant vehicle height by lowering the tire pressures in order to obtain an adequate margin.

Air transport plays a major role in the development of world economic activity and remains one of the fastest growing sectors of the international economy. One of the key elements that contribute to the maintenance of civil aviation development is to secure safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable means of transport, at the global, local and regional level. At airports communication air operations take place at intervals of tens of seconds to several minutes. A very important operation that the aircraft has to perform before coming to a safe standstill is take off. One of the most important operation is take off the aircraft. Security is an integral factor in determining the movement of the aircraft. The paper contains identification and analysis take off aircraft operations. The paper presents an analysis of the take-off operations including the rejected take-off. It is used in the analysis of the operation-taking place at the aerodrome of computer tools and methods. The result is the mathematical models form the basis for computer simulation. The aim of the article is modelling of the various stages of launch operations and identify basic models of these steps based on the parameters recorded by the flight data recorder aircraft. Constructed models imitating actual aircraft operations in the vicinity of the airport, will could be used in the practice of aviation.

The authors assessed the real threat to civil aircraft traffic in Poland resulting from bird strikes. It was found that in the period 2013–2018, the probability of such events increased by four times. Data for this work were downloaded from the ECCAIRS database maintained by the Civil Aviation Authority. Air traffic events have been collected for several years in this database. An assessment of the energy of bird collision with the aircraft, resulting from the bird’s mass and relative speed of movement, was also presented. Ways to minimise the risk of collision were described by introducing crew warning systems and means to scare off birds from the airport grounds. The method of testing the resistance of turbine engines to the foreign body’s absorption was also shown, as well as design methods for increasing the engine resistance to bird strikes.

In justified cases, the Polish Medical Air Rescue allows transport of a patient with medical equipment which is not standard medical equipment of the Air Transport Team. In the case at hand, a patient diagnosed with ARDS depended on extracorporeal therapy with an oxygenator. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is successfully used in the world and more and more frequently in Poland. It can also be administered using an aircraft of the Polish Medical Air Rescue. Necessity to involve many personnel members and resources indicates the complexity of the described transport of the patient. The authors demonstrate a case of a 22-year-old female patient who one and a half months ago was found unconscious at home following a suicidal attempt (status post aspiration, overdose of the Ketrel drug). Due to the absence of other possible treatments, a decision was made in the hospital to transport the patient to a centre a with higher referral level. Thanks to proper logistics, equipment and protection of the personnel, the Polish Medical Air Rescue transported the patient 260 km in a straight line during ECMO.
Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe dopuszcza w uzasadnionych przypadkach możliwość przewozu chorego z użyciem sprzętu medycznego niebędącego standardowym wyposażeniem medycznym dla Samolotowego Zespołu Transportowego. W opisanym przypadku pacjent ze zdiagnozowanym ARDS zależny był od terapii pozaustrojowej z wykorzystaniem oksygenatora. Terapia pozaustrojowej oksygenacji krwi (ECMO z ang. extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) z powodzeniem stosowana jest na świecie i co raz częściej w Polsce, możliwa jest również z wykorzystaniem samolotu Lotniczego Pogotowia Ratunkowego. Konieczność zaangażowania wielu sił i środków stanowił o złożoności opisanego transportu pacjenta. Autorzy przedstawiają przypadek pacjentki lat 22, która półtora miesiąca wcześniej została znaleziona w domu nieprzytomna po próbie samobójczej (stan po zachłyśnięciu, przedawkowanie leku Ketrel). Z uwagi na brak dalszych możliwości terapeutycznych w szpitalu zdecydowano o transporcie do ośrodka o wyższej referencyjności. Lotnicze Pogotowie Ratunkowe dzięki odpowiedniej logistyce, wyposażeniu i zabezpieczeniu personelu wykonało transport pacjentki na odcinku w linii prostej 260 km w trakcie pozaustrojowej oksygenacji krwi ECMO.

W artykule podjęto problem optymalizacji systemu obsługi technicznej statków powietrznych w ramach realizacji zadań firm przewozowych oraz organizacji posiadających własne statki powietrzne. W artykule przybliżono aktualny stan transportu lotniczego w Polsce i na świecie, przedstawiono prognozy rozwoju lotniczego transportu pasażerskiego. Zdefiniowano pojęcie eksploatacji w tym eksploatacji statków powietrznych. Następnie przedstawiono założenia, bez formalizacji matematycznej, modelu systemu obsługi technicznej statków powietrznych. Zaproponowany model odwzorowuje rzeczywiste funkcjonowanie systemu. Umożliwia on podejmowanie właściwych decyzji wyboru parametrów charakteryzujących system obsługi. Najczęściej wybieranym kryterium wyboru decyzji jest koszt funkcjonowania systemu obsługi.
The paper presents the problem of optimization of aircraft maintenance and servicing system as a part of transport companies and organizations owning aircrafts. The paper brought closer the current state of air transport in Poland and in the world and presents forecasts for passenger air transport. The aircraft service and maintenance operations are defined. The assumptions for model of technical service of aircraft are presented without mathematical formalization. The proposed model reproduces the actual functioning of the system. It allows making right decision to choose the parameters characterizing the operating system. The first choice criterion for the selection decision is the cost of the system operation.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę wpływu strumienia zgłoszeń pasażerów różnych przewoźników lotniczych na proces kontroli bezpieczeństwa. Analiza ta umożliwiła wskazanie różnic w charakterystyce zgłoszeń pasażerów różnych przewoźników do kontroli bezpieczeństwa z punktu widzenia mikroskopowego oraz makroskopowego. Z uwagi na niejednorodne natężenie strumienia zgłoszeń pasażerów proces kontroli bezpieczeństwa jest trudny pod względem harmonogramowania pracy stanowisk obsługi. Zaprezentowany w pracy model symulacyjnym umożliwia dobór odpowiednich parametrów realizacji procesu kontroli bezpieczeństwa zapewniając komfort obsługi pasażerom oraz minimalizację wpływu zakłóceń na ilość spóźnionych pasażerów.
The development of logistics support simulation model of Wroclaw airport allows to build a forecast of transport processes taking place in the airport. Evaluation of the processes will be carried out on the level of destination network planning in order to estimate the traffic flows in the terminal zone. Model allows to select the optimum process control parameters inside the terminal, such as: number of open check-ins, the number of open security check points, etc. A significant advantage of the model is the ability to change the parameters of the process during its execution (changing the planned arrival time to the current time of arrival). The forecast of transport process can be carried out in several stages.

Sektor pasażerskiego transportu lotniczego to jedna z najprężniej rozwijających się gałęzi transportu w ostatnich latach. Z uwagi jednak na wybuch pandemii COVID-19 rozwój ten został zahamowany. Wielu przewoźników zmuszonych zostało do zawieszenia w całości lub części swojej działalności, a co za tym idzie spadły również ich przychody, a sytuacja na rynku została zweryfikowana. Na chwilę obecną obserwujemy stopniowe odrodzenie w tej branży oraz dostosowywanie się linii lotniczych do nowo zaistniałej sytuacji. W celu zaoferowania pasażerom konkurencyjnych cen biletów tanie linie lotnicze zmuszone są do ciągłego poszukiwania możliwości obniżenia kosztów swoich operacji, a przy tym do maksymalizowania wydajności. Prowadzone są inwestycje w nowe technologie, wzrasta zaangażowanie firm w badania nad nowymi rozwiązaniami ograniczającymi zużycie paliwa, co zarazem ociepla ich wizerunek i stawia w pozytywnym świetle pod względem ochrony środowiska. W artykule omówione zostały przykładowe projekty koncernu Airbus mające na celu ograniczenie emisji CO2 oraz alternatywne źródła pozyskiwania energii zasilającej samoloty, a także ich ogromne znaczenie dla konkurencyjności sektora tanich przewoźników pasażerskiego transportu lotniczego.
In recent years, the passenger airline industry has been one of the leading transportation sectors. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, the growth of this industry has been impeded. Many carriers have been forced to partly or entirely suspend their operations leading to a decrease in their revenues and market value corrections. At the moment, we observe a gradual revival in this industry and the adjustment of airlines to the new situation. In order to offer competitive ticket prices to their passengers, low-cost airlines explore ways to reduce the cost of their operations while maximizing efficiency. Hence, the investment in new technologies and the involvement of air transportation companies in research on new solutions to reduce fuel consumption. To gain customers’ positive regard and improve their image, the changes are being marketed by air transportation companies as efforts to lower their carbon footprint. This article discusses Airbus’s projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and developing alternative sources of energy for aeroplanes, as well as the significance of these efforts for the competitiveness of the low-cost passenger air transport sector.

The aim of this work is the experimental study of the weight loss impact on the properties of flying objects. Work is hased on the results of resonance tests of the helicopter, gliders and military aircraft. In the presented flying objeets group the possible occurrence of weight losses during the flight are up to 50%. The paper posed the following questions: How big can be, in practice, the weight loss during the flight? To which resonance the mass loss has the greatest impact? How and by what rules the map of resonances changes? Does in the process of weight loss there are other, worth-knowing events? Gliders, airplanes and a helicopter were investigated in the Resonance Test Laboratory of Institute of Aviation. The author has organized and for over 20 years led the Resonance Test Laboratory at the Institute of Aviation, in which he made or directed the investigations of dozens of aircraft, gliders, helicopters and their elements and components. Effect of weight loss on the flying objeets properties is one of several ,,unusual" research topics phenomena, which the author observed during a standard resonance tests. The resonance of the mode shape of Jantar 15 glider, comparison of the relative increase in the frequencies of the resonances with mode shape for SZD-50 Jantar 15-2 and IS-2 Revelation gliders, results of investigations of the underwing stores loss of mass impact on the „Pattem" aircraft resonances freąuencies, the resonance frequency of the 1-22 Iryda aircraft are presented in the paper. In aviation, aircraft ground handling defines the servicing of an aircraft while it is on the ground and (usually) parked at a terminal gate of an airport. Ground handling operations include many activities: passenger handling, ground transport, assistance in blocking the aircraft and delivery ofreąuired equipment, loading and unloading of the aircraft, including provision and operation of required equipment, as well as transport of the crew and passengers between the aircraft and the terminal, transport of luggage between the aircraft and the terminal, catering. This paper presents a fragment of an analysis of the elementary operations performed at the apron and presents model of ground handling at the airport and stochastic analyses. The method of sohing the problem is based upon an analysis of the actual airport operations. During the investigation different ground handling processes schemes and elementary operations identified at the apron were analyzed. Random parameters of the duration ofeach action at the apron were identified. The focus was the problem of increase airport capacity for the ground airport operations. Problem of airport capacity is specifying as airside and landside. The authors present short description of method. It is present ground handling model and some of results of simulation.

Celem artykułu jest wykazanie skali wpływu wybranego elementu infrastruktury transportu jakim jest port lotniczy na rozwój turystyki. Relacja ta została dowiedziona na przykładzie Warszawy – stolicy państwa i jednocześnie największego miasta w Polsce oraz Lotniska Chopina (Warsaw Chopin Airport). W artykule dokonano przeglądu definicji transportu oraz infrastruktury transportu ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem infrastruktury punktowej. Poddano analizie zalety i wady transportu lotniczego. Ponadto zinterpretowano pojęcie turystyki z punktu widzenia realizowanych przez nią funkcji gospodarczych. W celu przeprowadzenia badań wykorzystano metody opisowe i wyjaśniające, w tym metody interpretacyjne, analityczne i przyczynowo skutkowe. Zastosowane techniki badawcze polegały na zgromadzeniu a następnie poddaniu analizie eksploracyjnej danych liczbowych w celu identyfikacji prawidłowości dotyczących ruchu turystycznego w relacji do danych o wykorzystywanych gałęziach transportu. Wnioski sformułowane na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań jednoznacznie wskazują na transport lotniczy, a w szczególności na port lotniczy jako kluczową determinantę w rozwoju turystyki.
The aim of the article is to show how the most essential element of air transport point infrastructure, i.e., the airport, affects the development of tourism. This influence will be shown with particular emphasis on Warsaw - the capital of Poland and its largest city. The article discusses the definitions of transport and its infrastructure, with particular emphasis on point infrastructure. The article demonstrated the advantages and disadvantages of airport transport. In addition, the concept of tourism was explained with a clear indication of its economic functions. To conduct the research, descriptive and explanatory methods were used, including interpretative, analytical, and cause-effect methods. The main technique was to collect and analyze numerical data showing the regularities of tourists and their expenses, broken down into domestic and foreign ones, as well as numerical data on means of transport and the role of the Chopin international airport in Warsaw. The conclusions are drawn based on the conducted research clearly indicate the key role of the airport as a factor in the development of tourism.

The large US SATS (Small Aircraft Transportation System and EU supported EPATS (European Personal Air Transportation System [4, 5]) projects target to develop and introduce new transportation system based on the newly designed small and smart aircraft mostly personal used in completely redesigned and rebuilt airport and ATM systems. Introduction of such innovative system can be characterized by innovation diffusion process. The diffusion of innovation is the process by which an innovation is communicated through certain channels over time among the members of social system. The penetration of the new innovative system into society and economy can be characterized by “S” curve. In case of earlier time of diffusion, when only the relatively small number of users, called innovators and early adaptors are applying the new system, the evaluation of efficiency of the new system plays a determining role. Generally, it seems the efficiency can be defined and applied for evaluation of the new technology easy. However, the efficiency means different meaning for different group of people, like designers, operators, users, owners, stakeholders, or simple “neutrals”, namely for those who does not belong no one from the named groups. So, the new system must be evaluated with use of different terms, different methods, as technical or energetic efficiency, benefits, etc. This short paper tries to summarize the different definitions of efficiency and their use for evaluating the EPATS and their impacts on the EPATS development process.

Nowadays more and more attention is paid to minimizing the costs of air operations. The largest share in the cost of the flight is the cost of consumed fuel. Taking into account the external conditions, having impact on the aircraft, such as wind direction and magnitude when planning the aircraft trajectory it is possible to reduce flight time and thus reduce fuel consumption. An additional advantage is the simultaneous reduction of pollutants in the jet engines exhausts. In the times of pro-ecological trends and concepts (e.g. Clean Sky, Single European Sky, CORSIA) this aspect is of crucial importance. The emission of selected pollutants in the jet engine exhausts (NOx, CO and HC) emitted during the flight of a business jet on the route whose cruise phase was assumed 1000 km long was determined in the article. The aircraft used in the research was Gulfstream GIV, powered by two Rolls Royce TAY 611-C engines, for which a cruising altitude of 10 km and a flight speed of 0.8 Ma were assumed. The thrust necessary for the flight at these cruise parameters was set, and then the engine thrust appropriate for the flight and the corresponding specific fuel consumption were determined. On this basis, based on the available ICAO data, the emission of selected pollutants in tis engines exhausts was determined for windless conditions. Next, the analysis of the impact of wind - its magnitude and direction – on the emission of these pollutants was made. The results of the conducted analyses are presented in diagrams and discussed in the conclusions.

Celem poniższej pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na ważną̨ gałąź́ transportu, jaką jest transport lotniczy. Przedmiotem rozważań podjętych przez autora jest określenie roli transportu lotniczego w łańcuchu dostaw.
Air transport is currently one of the major branches of transport both in national and global economies. It is one of the fastest, most expensive, but at the same time also most effective types of transportation. It plays a very important role in global economy, particularly in transcontinental carriage of goods and passengers. Its availability and quality constitute a powerful driving force for country’s development. In view of the vast scope of the subject, the issues in the study were elucidated mostly on the basis of existing airports.
