In the modern world, scientific and practical ergodesign activity on the development and use of drones, the concept of "human factor" is becoming more and more important. It is one of the main studies in improving the safety, efficiency and comfort of the "man - unmanned aerial vehicle" system operation. The most promising research is aimed at the application and development of new approaches to the evaluation of algorithms for unmanned aircraft maintenance and the organization of their operators` activities. The system of unmanned aerial vehicles ergodesign quality indicators developed and presented in a tabular form reflects practically all design and ergonomic properties of modern unmanned aerial systems. It is based on the existing normative documentation inUkrainedeveloped by the authors, harmonized with international and European standards. It allows the analysis and evaluation of unmanned aerial vehicles in order to take into account consumer interests at the beginning of their design reducing the assimilation time of products and preventing irrational production costs. The results of such an analysis underlie the development of technical documentation, standards, and specifications. They should be taken into account when putting products into production.

The objective of this paper is to estimate performance of a new approach for spectrum sharing and coordination between terrestrial base stations (BS) and On-board radio access nodes (UxNB) carried by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). This approach employs an artificial intelligence (AI) based algorithm implemented in a centralized controller. According to the assessment based on the latest specifications of 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) the newly defined Unmanned Aerial System Traffic Management (UTM) is feasible to implement and utilize an algorithm for dynamic and efficient distribution of available radio resources between all radio nodes involved in process of optimization. An example of proprietary algorithm has been described, which is based on the principles of Kohonen neural networks. The algorithm has been used in simulation scenario to illustrate the performance of the novel approach of centralized radio channels allocation between terrestrial BSs and UxNBs deployed in 3GPP-defined rural macro (RMa) environment. Simulation results indicate that at least 85% of simulated downlink (DL) transmissions are gaining additional channel bandwidth if presented algorithm is used for spectrum distribution between terrestrial BSs and UxNBs instead of baseline soft frequency re-use (SFR) approach.

Among the possible electric powerplants currently driving low-payload UAVs (up to around 10 kg of payload), batteries offer certain clear benefits, but for medium-payload operation such as aerotaxis and heavy-cargo transportation UAVs, battery capacity requirements restrict their usage due to high weight and volume. In light of this situation, fuel cell (FC) systems (FCS) offer clear benefits over batteries for the medium-payload UAV segment (> 50 kg). Nevertheless, studies regarding the application of FCS powerplants to this UAV segment are limited and the in-flight performance has not been clearly analysed. In order to address this knowledge gap, a feasibility analysis of these particular applications powered by FCS is performed in this study. A validated FC stack model (40 kW of maximum power) was integrated into a balance of plant to conform an FCS. As a novelty, the management of the FCS was optimized to maximize the FCS efficiency at different altitudes up to 12500 ft, so that the operation always implies the lowest H2 consumption regardless of the altitude. In parallel, an UAV numerical model was developed based on the ATLANTE vehicle and characterized by calculating the aerodynamic coefficients through CFD simulations. Then, both models were integrated into a 0D-1D modelling platform together with an energy management strategy optimizer algorithm and a suitable propeller model. With the preliminary results obtained from the FCS and UAV models, it was possible to ascertain the range and endurance of the vehicle. As a result, it was concluded that the combination of both technologies could offer a range over 600 km and an endurance over 5 h. Finally, with the integrated UAV-FCS model, a flight profile describing a medium altitude, medium endurance mission was designed and used to analyse the viability of FC-powered UAV. The results showed how UAVs powered by FCS are viable for the considered aircraft segment, providing competitive values of specific range and endurance.

Opis:
Technology of photovoltaic cells and lithium batteries is being developed rapidly. As a result, attempts to build solar High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) airplanes are more and more frequent. In the future, such airplanes may appear very useful for the economy because they may replace geostationary satellites in several applications. Unfortunately, data on altitude effect on photovoltaic cells and batteries performance are not easily available. Moreover, acquisition cost of cells is very high. Therefore, a tool for inexpensive testing of cells is needed. This article shows a study of very light unmanned airplane that could be used as a testbed for this purpose. Weight assumptions are presented together with concept of geometry and aerodynamic characteristics. Propulsion system is proposed, so also airplane performance is estimated. Finally, results are discussed leading to the conclusion. It appears that unmanned airplane with maximum take-off weight of 1.3 kg can climb to the altitude of 10 km within 4 hours during sunny summer day about the noon. However, only 30% of such days can be used because of strong winds blowing at high altitudes, quite small optimal airspeed of the airplane and constraints due to Air Traffic Management. Moreover, application of variable pitch propeller is recommended as well as some kind of take-off assist. For example, towing or take-off from the hill is desirable to avoid threats resulting from small climb rate.

The goal of the paper is to present growing influence of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the shape of military doctrine. Author, in the first part of article, presents terminology and classifications of the UAVs, as well as, the main criteria of the classification which are: thrust, purpose, weight, and range/endurance. The second part of the article is dedicated to military technology. In that part of the article, author presents possible kind of utilization of the UAVs, presenting in the more details military drones. In description of the drones is also part of initial conclusions addressing to the challenges new doctrine and battlefield strategy. In the conclusion author presents the expecting changes in a military doctrine, caused by employing of a new military technology, a specially the new kind of drones on the battle field.

Jednym z podstawowych zadań wykonywanych przez bezzałogowe statki powietrzne jest rozpoznanie powietrzne. Odgrywa ono wiodącą rolę zarówno w czasie pokoju, kryzysu, jak i wojny. Dzieje się tak, ponieważ bez wiarygodnych i aktualnych danych planowanie działań jest znacznie trudniejsze, mniej skuteczne, a w wielu aspektach wręcz niemożliwe. W aspekcie militarnym zadaniem rozpoznania powietrznego jest pozyskanie danych o przeciwniku, jak również ocena rezultatów prowadzenia działań wojsk własnych. Celem niniejszego artykułu była identyfikacja parametrów taktyczno-technicznych charakteryzujących bezzałogowe statki powietrzne wykorzystywane w Siłach Zbrojnych RP, przeznaczone do prowadzenia rozpoznania powietrznego. Mając na uwadze powyższe, w pierwszej kolejności opisano istotę rozpoznania powietrznego, następnie ustalono rolę i miejsce BSP w rozpoznaniu powietrznym, scharakteryzowano platformy użytkowane przez polskie wojsko, a w dalszej części zestawiono oraz porównano je pod względem takich parametrów, jak: rozpiętość skrzydeł, maksymalna masa startowa, prędkość przelotowa, prędkość maksymalna, długotrwałość lotu oraz zasięg operacyjnego działania. Pozwoliło to zobrazować różnice w ich budowie, określić pewne zależności i właściwości oraz sporządzić wnioski końcowe. W artykule posłużono się takimi metodami badawczymi, jak: analiza, synteza, uogólnienie oraz porównanie
One of the main functions of unmanned aerial vehicles is aerial intelligence reconnaissance. It plays a leading role in time of peace, crisis or war. The reason for this is that without reliable and up-to-date data, planning of operations is much harder, less effective and, in many aspects, even impossible. In the military aspect, the aim of air intelligence is to provide data about the enemy, as well as to judge the results of the operations conducted by own forces. The purpose of this article is to identify tactical and technical parameters characterizing unmanned aerial vehicles used in the Polish Armed Forces, intended for air reconnaissance. With this in mind, the article firstly describes the essence of air reconnaissance, then establishes the role and place of UAV in air reconnaissance, characterizes the platforms used by the Polish military, and then compares and contrasts them in terms of such parameters as wingspan, maximum takeoff weight, cruising speed, maximum speed, flight duration and operational range. It helped to illustrate the differences in their construction, identify certain relationships as well as characteristics and draw final conclusions. In the article have been used methods of research such as analysis, synthesis, generalization and comparison.

This elaboration shortly presents the use and history of unmanned aerial vehicles, the motivations of designers and inventors, and the more or less successful results of their actions. The study contains both the first projects, often unsuccessful, and structures that got up into the sky. The whole study is closed by the latest military constructions equipped with advanced navigational and combat systems which perform assigned missions successfully. The development directions of UAV platforms and sub-systems close the entire publication.

The work presents the concept of the application of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used in the process of direct reaching of ground targets (radio location stations, combat vehicles or even tanks). The kinematic model of UAV motion takes into consideration particular phases of the mission realised by the vessel, i.e. programmed flight during target search, follow flight after the encounter of the target as well as during the process of self directioning onto the target. Control laws for the automatic UAV combat pilot are presented and the dynamic model of automatically steered UAV is developed. In the examinations solutions of analytical mechanics for holonomic settings within the relative system tightly connected with the moving object are incorporated.
W pracy przedstawiona została koncepcja zastosowania bezpilotowego aparatu latającego (BAL) do bezpośredniego rażenia celów naziemnych (stacje radiolokacyjne, wozy bojowe czy też czołgi). Model kinematyczny ruchu BAL uwzględnia poszczególne etapy realizowanej przez aparat misji, tj. lot programowy podczas wyszukiwania celu, lot śledzący po wykryciu celu oraz lot podczas samonaprowadzania na cel. Przytoczono prawa sterowania dla pilota automatycznego bojowego BAL. Opracowany został dynamiczny model ruchu automatycznie sterowanego BAL przy zastosowaniu równań mechaniki analitycznej dla układów holonomicznych w układzie odniesienia sztywno związanym z poruszającym się obiektem.

The design process is mostly connected with a proper selection of construction materials. Newly designed UAVs must undergo assessment in terms of performed tasks, range or fuel consumption. A significant influence upon the selection of materials, which are long lasting and resistant to damage, is exerted by the conditions of work of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. They mainly execute their tasks at high altitudes with high speeds, where temperature and pressure differences may extensively damage not only the airframe skin, but also the equipment and the propulsion system itself. The aim of this study is to present the characteristics of materials currently used as well as their assessment in employed construction elements of UAVs. Polymer composites are superior to Al and Ti alloys, steel within the parameters of tensile strength and stiffness. As for the density gradient, polymer carbon fibre composites exceed glass fibre composites, also under cyclically variable loads. Glass fibre composites during tensile testing show higher values and a higher capability of absorbing energy under static and dynamic forces. Polymer matrix composites, reinforced with Kevlar, are less stiff than carbon-fibre composites, due to lower values of elasticity modulus, however they demonstrate higher impact load. Strength tests provide valuable data concerning the properties of a given material, such as tensile modulus E [MPa], tensile strength UTS [MPa], or resistance to high temperatures. It must be noted that these properties significantly affect the functioning of the airframe and its components.

In this paper a model of the dynamics of four-rotor flying robot is described in details. Control design must be preceded by the modeling and subsequent analysis of the robot behavior in simulator. It is therefore necessary to develop the mathematical model as accurate as it is possible. The paper contains a detailed derivation of the mathematical model in the context of physics laws affecting the quadrocopter. The novelty of presented notation is an extention of Coriolis forces in linear acceleration and the gyroscopic effect on angular acceleration. In the validation phase, the mathematical model was verified with the use of proposed control algorithms. Simulation studies have demonstrated the adequacy of a MATLAB model to properly reflect the real quadrocopter dynamics. This would allow for its use in the simulator and afterwards to implement and verify of control laws on the real fourrotor flying robot.

Drones are entering the maritime sector and have successfully increased safety and security. They can effectively replace humans, and where life and health are at risk during operations such as tank or hull inspections, they can be used in a fully remote capacity. They are used to transport spare parts, documents, medicine, etc. between land and ships at sea or on the roadstead, which may increase safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Drones can control traffic and the emission of pollutants from ships, detect pirates, monitor areas, and support operations. They are used in search and rescue missions and also provide modern technologies like 5G and others. Drones are reliable and effective, and their use minimizes costs and reduces time. This paper presents a current review of the state of knowledge on the use of drones in the maritime sector. It takes into consideration the opportunities of their utilisation and presents possibilities and examples of successful drone exploitation by various entities such as classification societies, shipyards, search and rescue (SAR) missions, and others. The benefits and limitations and a roadmap for drones in shipping are also analysed. An application forecast for the Polish maritime sector in the West Pomeranian and Pomeranian Regions is also delivered in the paper. Desk research methodology was used to review the literature to identify the set goals by analysing literature reports, articles, and materials published by beneficiaries using drones successfully, as well as inquiries and market offers.

The Department of Geoinformatics and Cartography of the University of Wrocław, Poland, is host in¬stitution of a project, financed by the National Science Centre in Poland, whose objective is to predict riverflow in real-time. If inundation is predicted, the problem of the verification of the overbank flow prognosis arises. This verification can be attained by utilizing an unmanned aerial vehicle that may be used for remote sensing applications. The unmanned aerial vehicle in question can take sequential photos with the unprecedented resolution of 3 cm/pix. Both the resolution and the opportunity for frequent flights – due to the low cost of the entire operation – allow us to compare prediction maps showing the forecasted overbank flow during an extreme hydrological event with the true observation obtained from the air. Although such verification is site- and event-specific, it can provide us with an objective technique for checking our system in a spatial domain. The main part of the system, known as HydroProg, produces multimodel ensemble hydrograph predictions and compares single-model prognoses; visualizations of them are then published in a web map service. The spatial predictions, along with the aerial orthophoto images, will also be presented online so that the user is able to observe the functioning of the system. Regular research flights have been carried out in Kłodzko County since 2012. The study areas correspond to sites where our Partner, the County Office in Kłodzko (SW Poland) – owner of the Local System for Flood Monitoring in Kłodzko County – has automatic gauges, and thus spatially reflect the hydrologic observation network. The aforementioned aerial module is experimental and will be incorporated into the entire system.

In the paper the typical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) used to monitor and for surveillance were presented. There also exist some solutions that allow to attack and destroy military targets.
