The article presents the results of research on ways of gaining knowledge required during classes, among Mechanical Engineering students at Lublin University of Technology. Obtained results will allow an identification of the type of educational resources most often used by students, as well as identification of the sources containing content-related mistakes.

The study deals with the topic of stylistic norms which have the character of tendencies in expressing particular types of messages. They are less binding than linguistic norms, although they do exist, and the creator as well as the receptor of texts are intuitively aware of them. They are shaped analogically, like linguistic norms, in the process of the creation of texts; and they are acquired in a similar way by generalization on the basis of previously known texts linked to a communicational situation. The process of the acquisition of stylistic norms is never finished because (in contrast to linguistic norms) the sources of their identification are very diverse, and their repertoire develops throughout the whole human life. In the study the author tries to present their general characterization, and consequently to characterize these norms for the traditionally mentioned primary and secondary functional styles. Even though the paper proceeds from the Czech situation and from the understanding of style and stylistics common in Czech linguistics, these are general norms applicable to the situation in various cultural environments, at least in the European cultural area.

In the era of Industry 4.0, the automation of processes in the life cycle of a product seems to be a necessity. Although programming CNC machines with CAM systems make it possible, it is necessary to effectively acquire knowledge about the programming process and technological requirements for effective automation. The paper presents a method for decomposition of knowledge about the CNC machine programming process based on acquiring knowledge from various sources, both from technologists as well as on the basis of analysis of archival CNC control programs. To decompose the programming process, it is proposed to apply the knowledge model described by various attributes. Verification of the method is shown in the process of knowledge decomposition for manufacturing special production tooling.

The deliberations contained herein concern the issues touched upon in a short work titled A philosophical discourse concerning speech written by Geraud de Cordemoy (1626-1684), a French philosopher and thinker who – in his own words – was a firm believer in the philosophy of Descartes and claimed to be a Cartesian. Apart from Logic and Grammar from Port-Royal, Cartesian literature of the 17th does not present a single other separate work devoted to the philosophy of language and the properties of speech. Aside from several interesting topics discussed by the author, one particular issue deserves special attention – namely, the occasionalistic interpretation of the mechanism of human communication. Still, this concept does not tower over other issues which, when reflected upon within the framework of Cartesian doctrine, gain new meaning in the context of contemporary discussion on the phenomenon of speech, its ontogenesis, and social functions. These include Coremoy’s thoughts on the social aspects of language and the mechanism of speech acquisition in children.

One of the most difficult tasks in the instruction of legal language is teaching highly specific legal terminology. Although some legal terms are widely used in ordinary language, there are some words and phrases which seem familiar, but have an unexpected meaning for a layperson. Additionally, there is a number of terms with specific legal meanings which presuppose some knowledge of legal content to be fully understood. On the other hand, since legal language is shaped by the legal system in which it is used, legal terms reflect particular legal systems and differences between them and are therefore inseparable from the law.This paper examines what implications this interconnection between language and law has on the process of legal language instruction and acquisition. How important is the knowledge of legal content for successful acquisition of legal terminology? What is the best approach to teaching such content-dependant language and what amount of background information needs to be taught? To answer these questions, the author analyses the results of a survey conducted among the law students attending legal language courses at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb and combines it with theoretical research and her teaching experience.

This article concerns selected changes, that have arisen for civil ways to purchase property from the introduction in 2015 – by amending the law on the protection of monuments and care of monuments – a new institution in the form of a national register of lost cultural property. At the same time by introducing changes to the Polish Civil Code there have been introduced the relationships between entering thing in such a register and some regulated by the Polish Civil Code ways to acquire ownership of movable property, generally excluding the possibility of acquiring ownership of things entered into this register. The article analyzes these issues against the background of art. 169 and 174 of the Polish Civil Code (this is in the context of the acquisition of movable from an unauthorized person, and by prescription), and considers the civil effects of deleting things from the aforementioned register, depending on the cause of this deletion.

The main subject of Sir 6:18-37 is acquisition of wisdom. The pericopemay be divided into three parts: vv. 18-22 present the prerequisite for the acquisition of wisdom, namely undergoing wisdom formation; vv. 23-31 deal with one’s submission to wisdom, while the last fragment (vv. 32-37) focuses on the means necessary to obtain wisdom. The present article constitutes an analysis of the first part of Sir 6:18-37, that is Sir 6:18-22. Two sections may be distinguished within this excerpt - in the first one (vv. 18-19) the sage makes use of agricultural imagery to encourage his disciple to make a patient effort to seek wisdom, since the acquisition of wisdom is a long-lasting process that requires a lot of discipline (the process spans a person’s whole life; cf. Sir 6:18). The author emphasizes, however, that those who seek wisdom and undergo wisdom formation will soon be able to take advantage of its fruit. In the second section (vv. 20-22) the author describes a person who refuses to undergo wisdom formation as uneducated (cf. 6:20a) and devoid of intellectual abilities (literally, heartless; cf.6:20b). Lacking patience, such a person refuses to make an effort to receive wisdom education and rejects wisdom altogether. Thus, they will never become wise. Even though wisdom is the province of the few only (cf. 6:22), it is accessible to anyone, regardless of the person’s origin, social status or other external conditions. There is, however, one vital prerequisite, namely, a person’s inner attitude or disposition, their willingness to make an effort and their patience. Only few people fulfil these conditions and acquire wisdom.

Nabywanie nieruchomości przez cudzoziemców nie jest zjawiskiem specyficznym tylko dla Polski. Zgodnie z regulacjami Unii Europejskiej obywatele państw członkowskich powinni mieć zagwarantowana swobodę: przepływu pracowników najemnych, prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej (przedsiębiorczości), świadczenia usług oraz przepływu kapitału. W praktyce jednak wiele krajów – podobnie jak Polska – stosuje ograniczenia w tym przepływie, w tym także w nabywaniu przez cudzoziemców nieruchomości. Aktywność inwestycyjna cudzoziemców jest niezwykle ważna dla gospodarki kraju przyjmujacego, gdyż wiąże się z zainwestowaniem określonych, często znacznych, kapitałów, co sprzyja dynamizacji wzrostu gospodarczego, tworzeniu nowych miejsc pracy czy też wprowadzaniu nowych rozwiazań technologicznych. Jednak – na co wskazuja autorzy niniejszego opracowania – inwestorzy zagraniczni sa skłonni zainwestować swój kapitał w danym kraju pod warunkiem, że ich oczekiwania zwiazane z tą decyzja zostaną przynajmniej częściowo spełnione. Wśród tych oczekiwań można wyróżnić m.in. stosunkowo niską cenę nieruchomości w Polsce, co skłania do ich nabywania.
Acquisition of real properties by foreigners is not a Poland-specific phenomenon. According to the EU regulations, free flow of labour, freedom of conducting business activities (entrepreneurship) and providing services, as well as a free flow of capital should be guaranteed to citizens of all Member States. In practice however, many countries, including Poland, apply limitations to those freedoms, also to the acquisition of real properties by foreigners. The investment activities of foreigners are extremely important to the economy of the receiving country, since they are connected with investing specific, often large capitals, thus contributing to the namization of the economic growth, provision of new jobs, or introduction of new technological solutions. Still, foreign investors will be willing to invest their capitals in a given country (and the authors of the paper emphasise that) on condition that their expectations related to such a decision are at least partly met. Those expectations include, among other things, relatively low prices of real properties in Poland, which induce to buy them.

Marceli Chlamtacz was one of the representatives of the Lviv school of Roman law. One subject of his interests was the issue of fruits. He devoted an extensive monograph to the acquisition of fruits by a holder in good faith, entitled O nabyciu owoców przez posiadacza w dobrej wierze w klasycznem prawie rzymskiem z uwzględnieniem prawa cywilnego austriackiego i niemieckiego (On the Acquisition of Fruits by a Holder in Good Faith in Classical Roman Law, with a Consideration of Austrian and German Civil Law), where he attempted to demonstrate the interpolation of the rule of bonae fidei possessor fructus consumptos suos facit. The aim of this article is to present the Lviv scholar’s views regarding this issue. The author also includes the polemics of other Romanists with Marceli Chlamtacz’s views.
Marceli Chlamtacz war einer von den Vertretern der Lemberger Schule des römischen Rechtes. Er interessierte sich u.a. für Problematik des Nutzens, der er eine detaillierte Monografie Zum gutgläubigen Erwerb der Gewinne vom Besitzer laut dem klassischen römischen Recht mit Rücksicht auf österreichisches und deutsches Zivilrecht gewidmet hat. Darin versuchte er, die Interpolation der Regel bonae fidei possessor fructus ˂consumptos˃ suos facit nachzuweisen. Der vorliegende Beitrag bezweckt, die Ansichten des Lemberger Gelehrten zu diesem Thema zu präsentieren. Der Verfasser stellt überdies die von anderen Romanisten aufgefassten Polemiken mit den von Chlamtacz vertretenen Ansichten dar.

This article presents methods of acquisition of information from vehicle electronic components, with the purpose of its use to control the additional devices. These additional devices can comprise an LPG fitting, which was installed on a tested vehicle. Also, the way of modifying the contents of the engine control unit has been shown in order to examine the influence of the serial settings of the injection timing. Information that can be obtained from the CAN (Controller Area Network) allow for the lack of interference with the original manufacturer wiring, not disturbing the analogue signals at the same time. Modification of controller memory contents enables the improvement of performance parameters, especially in the case of the compression-ignition engine being fuelled with the addition of LPG. In the Summary section, the dynamometer test results of the modified vehicle have been presented. The tests were conducted for different control parameters during powering with Diesel fuel exclusively, as well as with the addition of LPG.
W artykule przedstawiono metody pozyskiwania informacji z elektronicznych podzespołów pojazdów w celu wykorzystania ich do sterowania dodatkowymi urządzeniami. Tymi dodatkowymi urządzeniami może być instalacja LPG, która została zainstalowana w badanym pojeździe. Przedstawiono również sposób modyfikacji zawartości jednostki sterującej silnika w celu zbadania wpływu seryjnych nastaw kąta wyprzedzenia wtrysku. Informacje, które można pozyskać z sieci CAN pozwalają na brak ingerencji w fabryczną instalację elektryczną, nie zakłócając tym samym sygnałów analogowych. Modyfikacja zawartości pamięci sterownika pozwala na poprawę parametrów użytkowych, zwłaszcza w przypadku zasilania silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym dodatkiem LPG. W podsumowaniu zaprezentowano wyniki badań hamownianych modyfikowanego pojazdu. Badania przeprowadzono dla różnych parametrów sterowania podczas zasilania wyłącznie olejem napędowym jak również z dodatkiem LPG.

Nauka jest nie tylko procesem pozyskiwania wiedzy, ale również sposobem realizacji potrzeby poznawczej jednostki. Podstawowym jej celem jest tworzenie czegoś nowego. Poznanie naukowe przebiega w umyśle samego badacza, a jego kluczową cechą jest interdyscyplinarność. Dyskusja na temat odróżniania poznania naukowego od nienaukowego jest aktualna zwłaszcza w dziedzinie nauk ekonomicznych. Celem artykułu jest analiza istoty poznania i wybranych kanonów naukowych w odniesieniu do ekonomii. Autorzy zakładają, że stosowanie kanonów nauki i predyspozycje samego badacza determinują wynik procesów poznawczych. Opracowanie obejmuje opis pojęć, takich jak: poznanie, wyjaśnienie naukowe, rodzaje metod i procesów poznania naukowego, paradygmat. Ma to ułatwić rozwiązywanie problemów w sposób naukowy, przede wszystkim badaczom nauk ekonomicznych.
Science is not only a process of knowledge acquisition, but also a way in which individuals fulfill their cognitive needs. Its main aim is creation, construction of something new. Scientific knowledge takes place in the mind of a researcher and its key feature is an interdisciplinary character. The debate on distinguishing scientific from non-scientific cognition is still valid, especially in the field of economic sciences. The aim of this paper is to analyze the essence of cognition and selected scientific canons with regard to economics. The author assumes that the use of the canons of science and the capacities of the researcher determine the outcome of cognitive processes. The study includes a description of such concepts as cognition, scientific explanation, types of methods and processes of scientific cognition, and paradigm. This is designed to make it easier to solve problems in a scientific manner, primarily for all the researchers in the field of economics.

Opis:
Article presents the laryngeal contrast of homo¬ organic plosives in Polish and Korean and its acquisition in Polish by Korean students. There are three laryngeal series of stops in Korean: fortis (tense), lenis (lax) and aspirated. All of them are phonologically voiceless, alt-hough the lenis series typically becomes voiced intervocalically. The three¬ way laryngeal contrast among voiceless stops is very unusual and Korean is regarded as the only language which makes use of such distinction. Polish, to obtain the phonological contrast between stops having the same place of articulation, exploits the binary system of presence or ab-sence of laryngeal vibration during the closure stage of stop production. The results of the present study show that so¬ called long prevoicing of Polish voiced stops in word¬ initial position is difficult to acquire by Koreans. Polish word¬ initial voiced stops were produced by some Korean speakers as Korean lenis stops but by the majority of speakers as stops with intermediate VOT between typical values of VOT in L1 and L2. Koreans usually pronounce Polish voiceless stops with aspiration in order to contrast them with Polish voiced stop series which is unfortunately devoiced in word¬ initial position by these speakers.
