Opis:
Chlorogenic acids (CQAs), the esters of caffeic acid and quinic acid, are biologically important phenolic compounds present in many plant species. Nowadays much is known from their pro-health properties, including anti-cancer activity. Yet, the supposition that they may be helpful in fighting obesity and modify glucose-6-phosphatase involved in glucose metabolism have led to a revival of research on CQAs properties and their natural occurrence. Much attention is also paid to the proper analysis of CQAs content in plants and plant products due to the fact that the main CQAs representative in nature i.e. 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid (5-CQA) is commonly employed as a quality marker in the control of various natural products. The common procedures used so far for CQAs determination in plants involve conventional long lasting solvent extraction realized at higher temperatures prior to chromatographic analysis. The drawbacks associated to the conventional extraction techniques have led to the search for new alternative extraction processes that additionally could improve extracts quality. The latter is particularly important as regards CQAs applications, and the fact that these compounds easily transform/degrade to others. According to reports, the conventional heating of 5-CQA in the presence of water causes its isomerization and transformation. The reports prove that 5-CQA not only isomerizes to 3- and 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid, but also undergoes other transformations such as esterification and reactions with water. Hence, in the attempt to improve the process of chlorogenic acids extraction and to make it more effective and environmentally friendly, innovative so-called "enhanced" techniques of extraction have been recently developed and applied. To guarantee the proper analysis of compounds with very similar properties forming the chlorogenic acids family and their numerous transformation/degradation products, hyphenated techniques, in particular LC-MS, are currently being used.

Adequate nutrition of ruminants and physiologically correct assessment of the nutritional value of feed rations need additional knowledge about the quantitative transformation of the main components of any particular feed in diff erent parts of the digestive tract. The study of the principles of substrate energy use is necessary in each particular case to defi ne the actual need in substrates, which determines the effi ciency of their use for implementing biosynthesis and physiological functions. The determination of the infl uence of the energy supply of the diet of young cattle aged 7-12 months on the effi ciency of energy use in the organism. Effi ciency of the use of metabolizable energy of diets for calves with the increased level of energy nutritional value by 5.0% (MEC is equal to 9.6 MJ/kg) promoted the increase of energy deposition and weight gain synthesis by 10.04%, weight gain energy by 19.50%, the effi ciency of the use of metabolizable energy for weight gain by 3.81%.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a biological humic preparation - “HUMIN PLUS”, made from natural raw materials - environmentally friendly lake sapropel on the biological development of agricultural crops. The study consisted in obtaining information and assessing the effect of a biological product on the dynamics of seedlings development, planting density, as well as crop productivity. To assess the preparation, as well as to identify the effect on the stages of plant ontogenesis, the physicochemical parameters were studied, including the content of humates, and trace elements in the sapropel extract. To interpret the effect of the growth regulator on the seed germination energy, an adaptive-neural inference system was used. To establish the nature of the action of preparation on the development biology of plant, in the conditions of Kazakhstan, a series of experiments were carried out at different stages of ontogenesis of agricultural crops. It was found that the action of the “HUMIN PLUS” preparation significantly increases the content of essential and nonessential amino acids. The findings have established that the sapropel extract “HUMIN PLUS” affects the biological activity of plants, accelerating the seed germination and increasing the productivity of agricultural crops in Kazakhstan.

The paper presents some aspects correlating thermal stability of RNA folding and the occurrence of structural motifs in natural ribonucleic acids. Particularly, the thermodynamic stability of 2'-5' and 3'-5' linked RNA and the contribution of unpaired terminal nucleotides (dangling ends) in secondary (2D) and tertiary (3D) structures of RNA are discussed. Both examples suggest that during evolution nature selected sequences and structures of RNA which are the most thermally stable and efficient for their biological function.

The atomic structure of minerals and organic molecules is remarkably similar. In particular, between minerals and amino acids, which are the building blocks of life on Earth. The hypothesis tested here is the possibility of energy transfer from minerals to amino acids, in the form of solar energy. The experiments tested the theory that the brighter intensity of light in the early Earth may have kick -started the chemical reactions needed for life. The scenario under investigation is that of light reacting with quartz sand grains exposed at the surface. The quartz grains contain water within the pore spaces, which has basic amino acid structures within in. The experiments determined that the vibration of piezoelectric quartz altered the structure of amino acid molecules.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to assess the dynamicsof changes in the content of hop bitter acids during long-termstorage of cones that vary in maturity degree under differenttemperature conditions. The impact of the degree of maturityof hop cones on the stability of bitter acids during storage islittle known so far, and it is important, because due to the systematicincrease of the hop growing area on individual farms, thecone harvesting period is extended beyond the optimal phase oftechnological maturity. Hop cultivars belonging to two groupswere included in the study: bitter (Magnat, Magnum) and aroma(Puławski, Sybilla). Cones were collected on a few dates duringvegetation season, starting from the phase in which they reachedmaximum size until the beginning of physiological maturity. The dried cones were stored at +5 °C and +20 °C for 12 monthsand tested every three months for alpha and beta acid contentusing HPLC. Studies have shown that too early a hop harvestadversely affected bitter acid content. Storage temperature hadsignificant impact on the degradation of alpha and beta acids. Ata higher temperature the decrease in the content of these compoundswas greater. The tested hop cultivars were characterized bydifferent stability of bitter acids. The highest stability of alphaacids was observed for Sybilla, while the lowest for Magnat. The stability of alpha and beta acids during long-term storageof the raw material, especially at + 20oC, depended on the degreeof cones maturity. The aging rate of hop cones was not thesame throughout the storage period. For the first 3–6 months ata temperature of +5oC, the bitter acid content remained at a levelsimilar to the initial one, later a relatively rapid decrease in thecontent of these metabolites occurred. At higher temperatures, the bitter acid stabilization period was shorter.
