Autorka omawia - na podstawie literatury przedmiotu - główne kierunki przemian w procesie kształcenia doktorantów w krajach Unii Europejskiej. W centrum rozważań znajdują się zmiany w modelu kształcenia (przejście od modelu „mistrz-uczeń” do kształcenia grupowego), dywersyfikacja modeli kształcenia oraz czynniki generujące wyżej wymienione zmiany. W tym kontekście uwidoczniona została rola Procesu Bolońskiego w procesie przechodzenia do kształcenia na stopień doktora jako studiów III poziomu/stopnia/ na III szczeblu. Wskazano również na nowe tendencje i kierunki zmian w procesie kształcenia doktorantów, determinowane międzynarodową współpracą szkół wyższych i mobilnością uczonych.
By drawing on relevant literaturę, the author discusses key directions of change in doctoral education across EU member States. Her focus is on changes in the training models (atransition from the ‘master-apprentice’ model to group-based education), diversification of such models and drivers of change. In this context, the author shows the role of the Bologna Process in the transition towards doctoral training as third cycle education. The paper also mentions new trends and directions of change in doctoral training driven by international collaboration between universities and mobility of researchers.

The paper presented results of empirical research obtained by means of a survey questionnaire and concerning the perception of workaholism by current doctoral students of the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. There were 87 doctoral students from all years of study participating in the survey. Opinions of the doctoral students surveyed on the perception of the phenomenon of workaholism, both in relations to themselves and to other persons in their environment, were obtained. The factors which, as reported by the respondents, influence workaholism were determined. Additionally, the impact exerted by the addiction on social relations of workaholics as well as doctoral students' perception of workaholism were analysed. Conclusions concerning the justifiability of medical treatment with regard to persons affected with workaholism and the term of Adult Children of a Workaholic were formed. The results obtained in the study clarify the standpoint of doctoral students in relation to workaholism as an addiction and may form the grounds for further scientific research concerning the issue among young persons engaged in creative activity.

In 2006, in Romania was founded the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), an agency that required all universities to analyse themselves and to self-appraise themselves from the point of view of quality. The quality of education provided to the students by a certain faculty has as dimensions, among others, the quality of academic staff, a quality resulting from the analysis of three components: appraisal by the students, appraisal by the colleagues and appraisal by the institution's management. In this paper we aim to determine to what extent the picture created by the students of the professors can be superposed on the one resulting from the appraisal of the academic staff's emotional intelligence competence. This is possible due to the fact that in the research on the appraisal of academic staff by the students there has been used a questionnaire that targeted the quality of teaching, the quality of the employed evaluation methods, the communication and relationing competences, the empathy, the management of relationships, i.e. the components of emotional intelligence.
W 2006 roku w Rumunii powstała Rumuńska Agencja Zapewnienia Jakości Szkolnictwa Wyższego, agencja, która zleciła wszystkim uczelniom przeprowadzenie jakościowej samoanalizy i samooceny. Jakość edukacji w opinii studentów jednego z wydziałów została oceniona m. in. na podstawie jakości kadry akademickiej, jakości wynikającej z analizy trzech składników: oceny studentów, oceny kolegów oraz oceny dokonanej przez kierownictwo uczelni. W artykule określono zakres, w jakim obraz profesorów stworzony przez studentów można skorelować z obrazem kompetencji wynikających z inteligencji emocjonalnej pracowników nauki. Możliwe to jest ze względu na fakt, że w badaniach dotyczących oceny profesorów przez studentów wykorzystano kwestionariusz ukierunkowany na jakość nauczania, jakość zastosowanych metod oceny, kompetencje związane z komunikacją i nawiązywaniem relacji, zarządzaniem związkami, np. składniki inteligencji emocjonalnej.

This paper aims at analysing and achieving better understanding of the experience of international mobility of academic staff from the perspective of value creation process. Qualitative research methods are used: a combination of individual in-depth interviews and focus group interviews. We apply a customerdominant logic perspective in order to identify the drivers of value co-creation and emerging value types. The study identifies multiple types of value emerging from a mobility experience (e.g. individual and shared value, one-off and longitudinal value). Also, the value co-creation context is investigated and an influence of factors such as personality, previous experiences, situation at home and host institutions and their support are discussed. null The creation of the English-language version of these publications is fi nanced in the framework of contract No. 607/P-DUN/2018 by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education committed to activities aimed at the promotion of education.

Biorąc pod uwagę ustawowe wymogi dotyczące personelu stawiane przez Narodową Komisję Uniwersytetów w Nigerii, opracowano model porównawczy struktury kadry akademickiej, która spełnia wymagania kadrowe. Podstawą teoretyczną modelu jest struktura łańcucha Markowa ze stanami pochłaniającymi. Graniczne stany struktury pojawiają się przy spełnianiu wymogów ustawowych. Dane empiryczne służą do wykazania przydatności modelu.
Considering the statutory staffing requirements by the National Universities Commission in Nigeria, this study develops a model to benchmark the academic staff structure that will meet the staffing requirements. The model utilises the absorbing Markov chain framework as its theoretical underpinning. An upper bound on the structure that will mature to meet the statutory staffing requirement is developed. Empirical data are used to demonstrate the utility of the model.

The article discusses desirable characteristics of a modern academic teacher. In the current discussion about the quality and necessary reform of higher education, the focus is on curricula, content and effects of education, along with financing and management of universities. Much less attention is given to the questions regarding personal and moral qualities of academic teachers. It is worth reflecting on and researching the desired characteristics of academics that would enable them to fulfil their social role.

Opis:
The goal of the article is to present an applied research project which sets an example of best practice in international academic cooperation for building an evidence-based prevention system in Western Ukraine. As a neighboring country, Poland is open to sharing its experience and achievements in attaining effective systematic solutions regarding alcohol and drug issues, which is of interest to Ukraine and is confirmed by the execution of the presented project, realized in cooperation with the academic staff of the Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University. The aim of the project is to develop a conceptual and educational module for courses preparing students for prevention work with children and the youth. The project was implemented by a team from the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, which has over twenty years of experience in preparing social educators for the implementation of preventive tasks. The article contains the empirical foundation, the need for the fulfillment of the project, the descriptions of its goals, subject, method of action and implementation stages. It discusses the difficulties encountered at the design and implementation stages, and the final results.
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie projektu badań stosowanych, będącego przykładem dobrej praktyki w zakresie międzynarodowej współpracy akademickiej na rzecz budowania systemu profilaktyki opartej na dowodach naukowych w zachodniej Ukrainie. Polska jako kraj sąsiadujący jest otwarta na dzielenie się doświadczeniami i osiągnięciami w wypracowywaniu skutecznych, systemowych rozwiązań dotyczących problemów alkoholowych i narkotykowych, którymi zainteresowana jest Ukraina. Potwierdzeniem tego jest prezentowany projekt, realizowany we współpracy z kadrą akademicką z Państwowego Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego im. Iwana Franki w Drohobyczu. Jego celem jest opracowanie koncepcji i modułu kształcenia dla kierunków studiów przygotowujących studentów do pracy profilaktycznej z dziećmi i młodzieżą. Realizatorem projektu jest zespół z Uniwersytetu Kazimierza Wielkiego w Bydgoszczy, który ma ponad dwudziestoletnie doświadczenie w przygotowywaniu pedagogów społecznych do realizacji zadań profilaktycznych. Artykuł zawiera empiryczne uzasadnienie potrzeby realizacji projektu oraz opisy jego celów szczegółowych, przedmiotu, metody działania i charakterystykę kolejnych etapów. Omówiono w nim trudności napotkane na etapie projektowania i realizacji oraz efekt końcowy.

Autor w artykule podejmuję kwestie dotyczące przekształcenia w 1967 r. szkół oficerskich w wyższe szkoły oficerskie. Na podstawie analizy źródeł archiwalnych, literatury przedmiotu oraz własnej refleksji opisuje kryteria dotyczące wyznaczania kandydatów na stanowiska nauczycieli akademickich w nowo utworzonych wojskowych uczelniach zawodowych. Zwraca uwagę na kształcenie doskonalące, a w szczególności na kształcenie pedagogiczne kadry dydaktycznej, podejmuje również próbę uzasadnienia konieczności owego kształcenia. Wskazuje także na proces rozwoju naukowego nauczycieli akademickich, w tym wojskowych nauczycieli akademickich, dostrzega i interpretuje mankamenty tego procesu.
In the article, the author deals with issues concerning the transformation of officer schools into military academies in 1967. On the basis of the analysis of archival sources, the literature of the subject and his own reflection, he describes the criteria for appointing candidates for the posts of academic teachers in newly established military vocational academies. He draws attention to training, and in particular to pedagogical education of teaching staff, and also attempts to justify the necessity of this kind of training. He indicates the process of scientific development of academic teachers, including military academic teachers, recognises and interprets the shortcomings of this process.

The article presents the diagnostic and analytical results of the research on higher school teachers’ competence at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine). Theoretical and methodological analysis is carried out and the content of three competence profiles of lecturers in higher education is defined: professional and pedagogical, social and personal, academic, reflecting the main areas of the lecturer’s activity. Diagnostic tools of qualitative assessment of teachers’ competence components in each of the profiles are developed. The study allowed for revealing the development of certain lecturer competences according to the identified profiles: innovative, digital, management (professional and pedagogical profile), leadership, civic (social and personal profile), research, international cooperation, and scientific PR (academic profile). The results of the diagnosis are the basis for the development and implementation of a system of measures for increasing the quality and standardization activities of higher education lecturers at the institutional, national and European levels. The article provides appropriate recommendations.

In dem Beitrag werden Profile des Forschungs- und Lehrpersonals vorgestellt, die zur wissenschaftlichen und didaktischen Entwicklung des Lehrstuhls für frühkindliche Bildung und Medienpädagogik der Schlesischen Universität in Katowice wesentlich beigetragen haben. Während seiner vierzigjährigen Tätigkeit arbeitete der Lehrstuhl mit vielen herausragenden Wissenschaftlern aus regionalen, inländischen und ausländischen akademischen Zentren zusammen. Derzeit betreibt er ein intensives Forschungsprogramm, unterrichtet Studenten im Lehrerberuf und nimmt an Promotionen zum Doktor und habilitierten Doktor teil.

The second volume of „Pedagogy Forum” is dedicated to Professor Dietrich Benner. In connection with this, the Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogical Studies at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw first draws a historical sketch of the institution’s founding, and then characterises pedagogy as a field of study and the department itself, which has only existed as a separate entity since 2008. The presentation includes the organisational structure (departments, number of students, specialisations), the academic staff, academic activities (publication series: Educatio and Labor, books by faculty employees, membership of national and foreign academic societies), awards and prizes received, and international cooperation. In conclusion, the Dean recalls how Professor Benner came be employed, and thanks him for the contribution he has made and continues to make in shaping the academic life of the Faculty.

Jego główne pytanie badawcze brzmi: w jakim stopniu teoretyczny model kolegialności pasuje do rzeczywistości polskich uniwersytetów, przebadanej na próbie ponad 3 700 polskich reprezentantów kadry akademickiej? Odpowiedź jest kontekstualna i relatywna: pokazujemy polskie uniwersytety w kontekście uniwersytetów funkcjonujących w 10 krajach zachodniej Europy (Austria, Szwajcaria, Irlandia, Holandia, Niemcy, Finlandia, Włochy, Norwegia, Portugalia i Wielka Brytania). Wyłaniający się z badań konflikt między wizją uniwersytetu podzielaną przez wspólnotę akademicką (czyli instytucjonalistycznym modelem „wspólnoty badaczy”, opartym na tradycyjnych wartościach akademickich) a jego wizją podzielaną przez wspólnotę reformatorów i decydentów politycznych (czyli modelem instrumentalnym) ma znaczenie fundamentalne dla losu reform szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce.
The author of the text is analysing the organizational patterns of the Polish higher education using international empirical data gathered in 11 countries of Europe (N = 17 212, projects of academic EUROAC and CAP academical staff research). His main research question reads as follows: in what extent does the theoretical model of the joint authority fit into the reality of Polish universities, examined on above 3700 Polish representatives of the academic staff? The reply is contextual and relative: we are presenting Polish universities in the context of universities functioning in 10 countries of Europe (Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Great Britain). The emerging from the examinations conflict between the vision of a university seen by academic community (i.e. an institutional model of the “community of researchers”, based on academic traditional values) and his vision shared by the community of reformers and political decision-makers (i.e. the instrumental model) has a fundamental meaning for the fate of the reforms of higher education in Poland.
