    Tematem artykułu są obrazy azjatyckich dżungli zawarte w dwóch ściśle związanych ze sobą filmach Wernera Herzoga: dokumencie Mały Dieter chciałby latać (1997) oraz fabularnej Operacji Świt (2005), a także w powieści Zmierzchanie świata (2022). Autorka analizuje sposób, w jaki niemiecki reżyser przekształca pejzaż realnie istniejącego miejsca w ponadczasowy i uniwersalny krajobraz duszy. W tym celu dokonuje opisu dżungli jako lokacji, w której toczy się akcja dzieł omawianych w artykule, po to, by następnie pokazać, jak za pomocą charakterystycznych dla siebie środków formalnych reżyser przeobraża ją i podporządkowuje nadrzędnym estetycznym ideom swojego kina.
    The subject of the article is the images of Asian jungles presented in two closely related films by Werner Herzog: the documentary Little Dieter Needs to Fly (1997) and the feature film Rescue Dawn (2005), as well as the novel The Twilight World (2022). The author analyses how the German director transforms the landscape of a real place into a timeless and universal landscape of the soul. To do so, she describes the jungle as a location in which the films discussed in the article are set and then shows how using his characteristic formal means, the director transforms it and subordinates it to the dominant aesthetic ideas of his cinema.

    Werner Herzog’s films grow out of landscapes. The frames opening his works very often present landscapes whose role goes beyond illustrative or informative functions. Analyzing films such as Encounters at the End of the World, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, and Into the Inferno, the text reconstructs the meanings inscribed in Herzog’s underground and underwater landscapes. The journey beneath the surface of spaces dominated by nature usually constitutes an equivalent of the journey into culture in the director’s works. In a sense, they are films laced with reflection about experiencing landscapes. What is more, Herzog undertakes his reflections in the realm of documentary cinema, which is firmly entangled with the category of truth. Entering a landscape is therefore a way of reaching truth for the director—however, not objective but “poetic” and “ecstatic” truth, which, according to the creator, has a much more significant quality than mundane facts.

Były to: kantata dramatyczna Fedra na mezzosopran i małą orkiestrę (1976) Benjamina Brittena (1913-1976) do tekstu amerykańskiego poety Roberta Lowella; następnie opera Le Racine: pianobar pour Phèdre (1980) Sylvano Bussottiego (ur. 1931) do libretta naszkicowanego przez samego kompozytora i składającego się z prologu, trzech aktów i intermezza, oraz dwuaktowa opera koncertowa Phaedra (2007) Hansa Wenera Henzego (1926-2012) do libretta niemieckiego poety Christiana Lehnerta. Celem tego artykułu jest udowodnienie, że trzech homoseksualnych kompozytorów wybrało mit o kazirodczej – a przez to zakazanej – miłości, aby ukazać homoerotyczne pragnienie uznawane przez współczesne im społeczeństwo heteronormatywne za zwyrodniałe i przez to potępiane. Niniejsza praca rzuca światło na ukazane w najsłynniejszych literackich opracowaniach aspekty wpływające na wrażliwość gejów, oraz wykazuje, jak trzech twórców pojmowało swoją seksualność i wyrażało ją w swoich kompozycjach. Analiza trzech utworów pod tym względem wykazuje, że dyskurs o homoseksualizmie kształtuje się poprzez wzajemne oddziaływanie na siebie różnych aspektów dzieła, które obejmują opracowywanie źródeł literackich, uporządkowanie libretta, charakterystykę bohaterów czy inscenizację dzieła, które wraz z muzyką składają się na jego określoną interpretację.
    Three musical adaptations of the myth of Phaedra, in which the wife of King Theseus of Athens desperately falls in love with her stepson Hippolytus, were composed in the second half of the twentieth century by three homosexual composers: the dramatic cantata Phaedra for mezzosoprano and small orchestra (1976) by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) after a text by the American poet Robert Lowell, the opera Le Racine: pianobar pour Phèdre (1980) by Sylvano Bussotti (1931-) after a libretto drafted by the composer himself and consisting of a prologue, three acts, and an intermezzo, and, last but not least, the two-act concert opera Phaedra (2007) by Hans Werner Henze (1926-2012) after a libretto by the German poet Christian Lehnert. The aim of this paper is to prove that the three homosexual composers chose a myth about an incestuous—and thus censored—love in order to represent homoerotic desire, labelled as deviant by the coeval heteronormative society and hence condemned by it. The study sheds light on the aspects of the most famous literary elaborations that affect gay sensibility, and on how the three composers experienced their homosexuality and gave utterance to it in their other works. The analysis of the three works at issue demonstrates that the discourse about gayness takes shape through the interplay of numerous aspects. The elaboration of the literary sources, the organization of the libretto, the characters’ definition, and the mise-en-scène, together with the music, put the myth into that perspective.

    Humanist Jerzy Werner – the alumnus of Kraków Academy Jerzy Werner (Georg Wernher) was born in the last decade of the 15th century in a Silesian town of Paczków. He obtained elementary and secondary education in Silesia, began university education at Wittenberg University and continued his studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He completed his studies in Kraków in 1519 and obtained a degree of Bachelor of Free Arts. At the beginning of 1520s following perhaps the example of other humanists, he moved to Hungary, which thus became his new homeland. At the beginning of 1524 he started working as a town clerk in Prešov (Eperies) and in 1526 he became a member of the town council as a town notary. During monarchical quarrels after the defeat at Moháč (Mohács), he became the follower of Ferdinand Habsburg. In 1533 Georg Werner was employed as an adviser to Hungarian Chamber. In 1538 he became the captain of Šariš (Sáros) castle, appointed by Ferdinand I. His most widely known work is De admirandis Hungariae aquis hypomnemation which describes the peculiarities of Hungarian waters and wells. He died in 1556 in Prešov (Eperies).

    W książce Ontologia i estetyka filmowych obrazów Wernera Herzoga (2014) autorka, Joanna Sarbiewska, posługuje się trzema strategiami badawczymi. Po pierwsze, bada twórczość niemieckiego reżysera, wykorzystując klucz romantyczno-ekspresjonistyczny, a choć używają go także liczni inni badacze Herzoga, analizy Sarbiewskiej przeprowadzone w tej optyce zawierają wiele pomysłów oryginalnych. Po drugie, dokonania artysty postrzega ona w duchu tzw. realizmu głębokiego czy realizmu istoty, podążając tu niejako tropem Herzogowskiej tzw. Deklaracji z Minnesoty. Wreszcie, po trzecie, Sarbiewska umieszcza filmy Herzoga w polu odniesień do nurtów filozofii współczesnej i te partie jej książki należą do najbardziej innowacyjnych. W poszukiwaniach adekwatnego narzędzia badań nad Herzogiem szczególne znaczenie ma dla Sarbiewskiej myśl Martina Heideggera, z którą dokonania Herzoga bywają niekiedy zestawiane.
    In her book Ontologia i estetyka filmowych obrazów Wernera Herzoga [Ontology and Aesthetics of Werner Herzog’s Film Images] (2014) Joanna Sarbiewska makes use of the three research strategies. Firstly, she explores the works of this German director using a romantic-expressionist key, and de- spite its being also used by many other researchers of Herzog’s output, Sarbiewska’s analyses conducted from this perspective contain many original ideas. Secondly, she perceives the artist’s achievements in the spirit of the deep realism or the essential realism, following somehow in the footsteps of Herzog’s so-called Minnesota Declaration. Thirdly, Sarbiewska places Herzog’s films in a set of references to the trends of contemporary philosophy, and those parts of her book belong to the most innovative ones. In search of an appropriate tool to conduct research of Herzog’s output, Martin Heidegger’s thought, with which Herzog’s achievements are sometimes compared, is of special importance to Sarbiewska.

    The paper is a modest attempt at a careful assessment of Werner Hamacher’s version of deconstruction as a reading strategy which centers upon the idea of the afformative caesura. In order to probe the potential and the possible limits of Hamacher’s strategy, the author presents a Hamacherian reading of one of Paul Celan’s poems, titled “Mauerspruch,” a poem brimming with references to Walter Benjamin’s work. In the first part of the paper the author shows the effectiveness of Hamacherian perspective. In the second part, however, following suggestions of the poem itself, the author shows that the perspective should be extended in order to include two crucial categories: the category of the image and the category of memory. Thus, ultimately, the assessment of Werner Hamacher’s strategy results in a praise and a modest proposal of its amendment.

Za szczególnie zajmujący uznaje pomysł Kempnej-Pieniążek, by wpisać twórczość reżysera w różne strategie poznania, a spoiwem dla nich uczynić motyw ciemności. Jak zauważa autorka książki, Werner Herzog podczas prowadzonych „lekcji ciemności” stara się odkryć prawdę o rzeczywistości w stanie kryzysu.
    On the surface, the book Lekcje ciemności. Kino dokumentalne Wernera Herzoga [Lessons of Darkness: Werner Herzog’s Documentaries] (2020) by Magdalena Kempna-Pieniążek is a guide to the documentary cinema of the German director. Upon closer examination, though, the publication reveals its pioneering character. The reviewer draws attention to the author’s compelling attempt to place Herzog’s films in the context of Romantic gnoseology. He appreciates her idea to analyze the director’s work according to various ways of cognition and bind them together by the theme of darkness. As Kempna-Pieniążek notes, Werner Herzog tries to discover the truth about reality in crisis during his ‘lessons of darkness’.

Most of the works are thesis to gain qualifications. Their time frame extends from the end of the eighteenth to the beginning of the twenty-first century. Theyare considered in the context of the German academic system. In conclusion remarks are made on the current state of historical writing on Lithuanian matters in Germany and their perspectives.

Postrzegając kino dokumentalne Wernera Herzoga jako projekt epistemologiczny, badaczka zwraca uwagę na funkcję, jaką podniebna perspektywa pełni w poszukiwaniu nowych, „niezużytych” obrazów, czyli w procesie, który w opinii reżysera stanowi kluczowe zadanie ludzkości. Podążając za badaczami takimi jak Teresa Castro, Eric Ames, Brad Prager oraz Laurie Ruth Johnson, autorka dowodzi, że ujęcia tego typu mają w kinie Herzoga przede wszystkim funkcję poznawczą, służąc konstruowaniu „obcych geografii”, w których realnie istniejący pejzaż zostaje przekształcony w „krajobraz duszy”. Centralne miejsce w argumentacji zajmuje Biały diament (The White Diamond, 2004), będący metafilmem, w którym Herzog komentuje swoje praktyki wizualne, a także ujawnia zarówno powody oraz proces powstawania, jak i zysk płynący z przyjmowania perspektywy „aeronauty”.
    The author of the essay takes up the subject of characteristic Herzogian aerial shots. Understanding Werner Herzog’s documentaries as an epistemological project, she draws attention to the role of sky-high perspective in his search for new, “unused” images – that is, in the process which, in Herzog’s opinion, is mankind’s key task. Following researchers such as Teresa Castro, Eric Ames, Brad Prager, and Laurie Ruth Johnson, the author proves that Herzog's aerial shots have a cognitive function, and are used as a means of constructing “alien geographies” in which real landscapes are transformed into “landscapes of the soul”. The White Diamond (2004) is placed at the center of this discussion, being a metafilm in which Herzog comments on his own visual practices, and reveals both his motivations and the realization process, as well as the benefits of adopting the aeronautes’ perspective.

Recenzentka omawia zawartość i konstrukcję książki, wskazując najważniejsze kwestie, którym współautorzy tomu poświęcili swe artykuły. W opinii Włodek wieloautorskość tej publikacji jest jej niewątpliwą zaletą, ze względu na różne punkty widzenia, ale zarazem rodzi groźbę powielenia pewnych kwestii. Recenzentka zauważa, że o ile analizy wypełniające trzecią część publikacji rzeczywiście wprowadzają wątki dla książki raczej nowe, o tyle w niektórych syntezach można znaleźć wiele powtórzeń, zwłaszcza tych obejmujących rozległe tematy rozpisane na wiele filmów. Włodek rekonstruuje też podskórnie obecną w książce tezę mówiącą o tym, że Hanna Schygulla przez długi czas tkwiła w pułapce Fassbindera, uwalniając się z niej właściwie dopiero po śmierci reżysera, choć i tak do dziś jest postrzegana przede wszystkim jako stworzona przez niego ikona Nowego Kina Niemieckiego. Recenzentka podkreśla także, iż publikacja jest cenna również z tego względu, że oferuje wszechstronną i bogatą analizę aktorstwa Schygulli.
    A book review of Kino Hanny Schygulli [Cinema of Hanna Schygulla] (2015), a volume edited by Andrzej Gwóźdź. The reviewer presents an overview of the content and construction of the book, and points to the most important issues taken up by the authors of the articles. According to Włodek the fact that this publication has many authors is an advantage, in that sense it presents a variety of points of view, and yet it stands behind the repetitions that appear in the book. The reviewer notes that although the analysis presented in the third part of the book introduces new topics, in a number of syntheses one may find repetitions, especially those dealing with wider themes spread over several films. Włodek reconstructs the thesis implicit in the book, that is that Hanna Schygulla was for a long time a “prisoner” of Fassbinder, and only freed herself following the death of the director. Even so, to this day she is primarily seen as an icon, created by Fassbinder, of the New German Cinema. Włodek points out that the publication is also valuable, because it offers a comprehensive and rich analysis of Schygulla’s acting.

    Opis:
    What is a Medium?At the beginning the author expresses his opinion that there is a national confusion which nowadays prevails about the nation of medium. His explications, in which he reminds his readers about the indirectness of media communication, are of historical character and expose numerous examples of notional abuse. One of the these states that without defining, in the broadest possible way, the notion of medium, which is a crucial one for media studies, it appears tha any systematic scientific reflection is impossible. As a remedy for the notional confusion, acceptance of the realistic definition of medium which was worked out by Werner Faulstich and based on the theoretical concept of Urlich Saxer („media are systems which solve problems”) is suggested. Therefore, that definition, four dimensions of which define the bases of empirical media studies, means the symbolic „patricide” of the main founder of modern media studies Marshall McLuhan and makes empirical, functional history and theory of the media possible.

    Opis:
    Since the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957 to the end of the 60s the European Economic Community (EEC) Member States have been focused their efforts primarily on the creation of the customs union, the common agricultural policy and the common market. The history of European monetary integration began with the announcement of the Werner Report in 1970. Since then, the have been a permanent preparation for the introduction of the euro in cash, which took place in the first twelve countries on January 1st, 2002. Inter alia, there have been published programs and analyzes, as well as normative acts, which deepened the European communities integration and became the foundation of the third stage of the Economic and Monetary Union. The key documents belonging to the first of these groups include: the Werner Report, the report of the Jacques Delors Committee and the Waigel Plan, to the second one: the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community, the Maastricht Treaty, the Stability and Growth Pact and the Resolution on multistage achieving the economic and monetary union.

    Lebenslanges Lernen ist heute eine allgemeine Forderung angesichts der rasant sich verändern-den Weltverhältnisse, denen sich kein Land entziehen kann. Erst recht nicht keine zeitgenössische Theorie der Bildung. Diese muss somit die Erwachsenenbildung und das lebens-lange Lernen konzeptionell einbeziehen. Zudem ist der Staat gefordert, die Notwendigkeit des lebenslangen Lernens anzuerkennen durch die Bereitstellung öffentlicher Weiterbildungsangebote wie Volkshochschulen. Es ist ein sog. „Vierter Bildungsbereich“ zu fördern, wo allerdings eine der Selbstkompetenz des erwachsenen Menschen entsprechende Bildungsfreiheit in Themen und Methoden des Lernens herrschen muss. Tatsächlich ist diese moderne Forderung lebenslangen Lernens erstmals in systematischer Form von Comenius aufgestellt worden bereits im 17. Jh.: in der Pampaedia, dem mittleren (vierten) Teil seines Hauptwerks „Allgemeine Beratung über die Verbesserung der menschlichen Angelegenheiten“ („De rerum humanarum emendatione con-sultatio catholica“ - wobei „catholica“ bedeutet: universell, allgemein).Dieser Aufsatz ist dem Gedenken an den 10 jährigen Todestag von Werner Korthaase im Mai 2018 gewidmet, der die Pampaedia bezeichnet hat als „die Gründungsurkunde der Disziplin der Erwachsenenbildung“.

    Polish King Augustus II’s stay in Gdańsk in 1698 provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen his existing friendly relations with Elector Frederick III. To this end, representatives of the Elector of Brandenburg, Gottfried Werner and Adam Bogislav Rubach, the former staying in Gdańsk temporarily and the latter residing there permanently, established a network with key members of the Saxon-Polish court. During the talks, a number of issues were addressed, not only those that arose in Brandenburg-Prussian-Polish, but also Brandenburg-Saxon relations. These included the Courland issue, the sale of Saxon estates, issues with postal organization, and above all, arranging the meeting of the two aforementioned rulers. Although the latter was not successfully concluded (something that Augustus II particularly cared about), intensified contacts between the monarchs resulted in a meeting in June 1698 in Pisz. In addition, the Elector’s representatives took to Berlin information relating to matters of internal importance to August II at the time, such as the campaign against the Ottoman state and the conflict in Lithuania, as well as the course of action in the Sejmiks before the April Sejm. A detailed insight into the negotiations between the diplomats is possible thanks to a careful analysis of the correspondence between the deputies and Frederick III, which is kept at the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin-Dahlem.

    The article presents the history of Alma Mater Jenensis from its inception in 1548 untill the early 20th century. The University of Jena, also known as Salana (after the river Saale, on which Jena lies), is one of the oldest German universities. Since the 16th century, it has been a centre of Lutheran thought. In the end 17th and 18th centuries prominent professors such as mathematician Erhard Weigel, historian Johann Andreas Bose, physician Werner Rolfinck, historian Friedrich Schiller, philosophers Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel conducted research or taught here. Since the 19th century, the University has cooperated with the Zeiss company manufacturing optical equipment. The author also discussed the collections of the Collegium Jenense and generally of the University.

    F. B. Wernher, known also as Werner, is the author of many different drawings depicting the views of European towns and urban settlements. These drawings were analyzed multiple times by specialists representing different fields of art and science. The author of this article aims to describe the connection between Wernher's freehand drawings with the methods used in graphical description of constructions. In the article there will be discussed only chosen kinds of drawings and their examples will be presented. Separately, in planned second part of the study, cases of the Wernherian perspective will be discussed.
    F. B. Wernher (1690-1776), znany również jako Werner, jest autorem wielu rysunków przedstawiających widoki europejskich miejscowości i założeń urbanistycznych. Rysunki te były wielokrotnie analizowane przez specjalistów z różnych dziedzin sztuki i nauki. Autorka artykułu podejmuje próbę opisania związku odręcznych rysunków Wernhera z metodami wykreślnymi stosowanymi w graficznym zapisie konstrukcji. W artykule omówione zostaną jedynie wybrane rodzaje rysunków i przedstawione ich przykłady. Osobno, w planowanej drugiej części opracowania, zostaną omówione przypadki „wernherowskiej perspektywy".

    Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje temat kierunków rozwoju sonaty gitarowej po 1950 roku. Historia kształtowania się formy to proces niezwykle dynamiczny, a każda epoka przynosi wiele różnorodnych, często wzajemnie sprzecznych, punktów widzenia. W tym kontekście przeanalizowane zostały pod względem formalnym cztery sonaty gitarowe, reprezentatywne dla omawianego okresu: F. Werthmüller – Sonata A-dur op. 17, A. Ginastera – Sonata op. 47, M. Tippett – The Blue Guitar, H.W. Henze – Royal Winter Music. Jako kryterium doboru dzieł przyjęto możliwość przekrojowego omówienia głównych nurtów i spojrzeń na formę cyklu sonatowego, obecnych w literaturze gitarowej drugiej połowy XX i XXI w. W toku badań wykrystalizował się obraz sonaty jako cyklu, który daje współczesnemu kompozytorowi narzędzia do realizowania indywidualnych poszukiwań artystycznych, przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu pewnych niezmiennych cech charakterystycznych formy. W niniejszej pracy podjęto próbę zdefiniowania, czym jest owa niezachwiana tożsamość sonaty.
    This article explores the directions of development of the guitar sonata after the year 1950. The development of any given form is a highly dynamic process with each period bringing a wide variety of, frequently contradictory, points of view. In this context, the author performed a formal analysis of four guitar sonatas representative of the period in question: Sonata in A major Op. 17 by F. Werthmüller, Sonata Op. 47 by A. Ginastera, The Blue Guitar by M. Tippett and Royal Winter Music by H.W. Henze. The criterion for selecting the works was to allow a thorough overview of the main trends and views on the sonata cycle form present in guitar music of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. During the research, an image of the sonata as a cycle emerged which presents the contemporary composers with tools that allow them to pursue their artistic vision while maintaining certain immutable features of the form in question. This article attempts to define this immutable identity of the sonata.

    Drei große Grünewald-Ausstellungen, die in Colmar, Karlsruhe und Berlin zwischen Dezember 2007 und Juni 2008 stattfanden, zeigten den Organisatoren und Besuchern erneut, wie zeitgemäß, lebendig und eindrucksvoll die Kunst Grünewalds ist. Obwohl sie aus dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert stammt, bleibt ihre Ausstrahlungskraft immer noch stark und lebhaft. Das Genie der Grünewaldschen Gemälde ist in der symbolisch-expressionistischen Bildsprache eingewurzelt. Aufgrund der rein malerischen Ausdrucksmittel vermag der spätgotische Maler einerseits die schrecklichste Naturalität und Hässlichkeit wiederzugeben, doch anderseits auch die tiefe Atmosphäre des Mystizismus. Diese dualistische Wirkung, die insbesondere in den Kreuzigungsszenen präsent ist, leistete einen Beitrag dazu, dass seine Malerei zur Ikone der Gewalt und Brutalität, aber zugleich der Religiosität und Spiritualität in der Kunst wurde. Eine solche Ikone gehört nicht mehr dem Maler, sondern befindet sich im Besitz der breiten visuellen Kultur und ist tief in den Erinnerungsspeicher vieler Künstler, Kunsttheoretiker und Kunstliebhaber eingeschrieben. Dieser Aufsatz bildet den Versuch einer Präsentation, die darstellt, wie und auf welch unterschiedlichen Gebieten sowohl die Künstler als auch die Interpreten aus der visuellen (hier aufs Grünewalds Werk bezogenen) Kultur schöpfen. Nach Ausführungen zu Grünewalds symbolisch-expressiver Bildsprache werden acht zeitgenössische Werke präsentiert, in denen klare Beziehungen zu seiner Malerei auszumachen sind. Die Interpretation der präsentierten Werke ist jedoch nicht in ihnen allein angelegt, sondern sie entsteht im Laufe eines intertextuellen Perzeptionseffekts, in welchem das Gemälde von Grünewald seine Relevanz behält. Der Sinn eines zeitgenössischen Werkes wird hier also auf der Basis des spätgotischen Werkes Grünewalds konstruiert. So entstanden zwei Interpretationsperspektiven. In der ersten Gruppe sind die sozial und politisch orientierten Bilder von Gert Wollheim, Hans Grundig, Werner Tübke und Maciej Bieniasz anzusiedeln; sie gelten als Werke einer sozial engagierten Kunst, die in einem konkreten politisch-historischen Kontext stehen. Zu der zweiten Gruppe gehören Bilder von Zbylut Grzywacz, Horst Janssen und Arnulf Rainer, also Werke, die einen universalen und überhistorischen Bedeutungssinn tragen.

    Hegel criticizes the mode of reflection that is typical of the transcendental philosophy of his age. The present article explores the relevance of Hegel’s criticism with regard to contemporary transcendental philosophy, in particular that of Werner Flach. Christian Krijnen shows that, despite substantial modifications of Kant’s conception of transcendental philosophy, not least inspired by Hegel, contemporary transcendental philosophy absolutizes the logic of essence. More precisely, from the perspective of its mode of reflection, contemporary transcendental philosophy basically is an absolutized form of external reflection.

    Autor w swoim artykule prezentuje sylwetkę niemieckiego socjologa Wernera Sombarta. Koncentruje się zasadniczo na kierunkach jego kariery naukowej. Omówione zostały zasadnicze etapy kształtowania się tego procesu w oparciu o publikacje Sombarta. Wskazuje się również na uwarunkowania polityczne panujące w Niemczech na przełomie XIX i XX wieku i wpływające na obraz tej kariery. Ukazane zostały ponadto pewne aspekty charakterologiczne bohatera artykułu, które nie pozostawały bez wpływu na przebieg opisywanego zjawiska.
    The author in his article presents the figure of the German sociologist Werner Sombart. Focuses basically on the directions of his scientific career. The basic stages of this process are discussed based on Sombart’s publications. It also indicates the political conditions prevailing in Germany at the turn of the 19th and 20th century that affect the image of this career. In addition, some characterological aspects of the hero of the article are shown. However, they did not affect the course of the phenomenon described.

    Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit der Rezeption der legendären Krakauer Fürstin Wanda in der deutschsprachigen Literatur des 19. Jahrhunderts. Dabei steht die geschlechtsspezifische Darstellung Wandas als Figur der Überlegenheit und deren Transformation von einer heroischen Jungfrau zu einer erotischen Despotin im Zentrum. In Entwürfen von Weiblichkeit als Jungfrau, Gefährtin und Herrin wird die Figur der Wanda in Texten von Werner, Schiller, v. Arnim, Hauff, v. Chézy, Heyse, Sacher-Masoch, May, Fontane und Jürgens untersucht.
    Tematem artykułu jest recepcja legendy o krakowskiej księżniczce Wandzie w literaturze niemieckojęzycznej XIX w. Autor koncentruje się na przedstawieniu Wandy w kategoriach specyfiki płci jako uosobienia wyższości oraz jej przemiany z bohaterskiej dziewicy w erotyczną despotkę. Przedmiotem analizy są teksty Wernera, Schillera, von Arnima, Hauffa, von Chézy’ego, Heysa, Sacher-Masocha, Maya, Fontana i Jürgensa oraz występująca w nich postać Wandy w różnych formach kobiecości: jako dziewica, towarzyszka życia oraz despotyczna i wodzowska pani.
    The article deals with the adoption of the legendary Wanda, Princess of Krakow, in the German-speaking literature of the 19th century. It focuses on the gender-specific modelling of Wanda as a character of superiority and her transformation from a heroic virgin to an erotic despot. In terms of femininity, such as virgin, companion and mistress, the character of Wanda is discussed in texts by Werner, Schiller, v. Arnim, Hauff, v. Chézy, Heyse, Sacher-Masoch, May, Fontane and Jürgens.

    Artykuł opisuje spór sądowy z lat 1373–1383 między klasztorem św. Macieja we Wrocławiu, zakonu krzyżowców z Czerwoną Gwiazdą, a kanonikiem wrocławskim Wernerem von Czettritz o prawo do korzystania z rzeki Oławy. Proces toczył się najpierw we Wrocławiu, a po apelacji trafił do Roty Rzymskiej (1375–1383) i pozostał po nim wyjątkowy komplet źródeł. Omówiono dokumenty związane z procesem, zarówno te wytworzone w samej Rocie (dokumenty audytorów), jak i te związane z postępowaniem egzekucyjnym, a także przeanalizowano wartość różnych typów dokumentów z punktu widzenia historyka.
    The article describes the lawsuit of 1373–1383 between the monastery of St Matthias in Wrocław belonging to the Brethren (Knights) of the Cross with the Red Star and a Wrocław canon Werner von Czettritz over the right to use the Oława River. The suit was first filed before the court in Wrocław, and then, after an appeal, it was brought to the Roman Rota (1375–1383); it has left an outstanding set of written sources. The author discusses the documents related to the lawsuit, both those issued by the Rota (auditors’ documents), and those related to the enforcement proceedings, and he analyses the value of various types of documents from the historian’s perspective.
