Opis:
Supervision of the financial markets has become over the last twenty years or so, an increasingly important element of the financial system. It is progressively moving away from passive compliance checks, towards becoming a real and active influence of the financial markets. It is encompassing a growing range both of issues and entities and is undertaking an ever-deeper insight. Financial supervision is also increasingly acquiring regulatory powers through the extensive application of self-produced ‘soft’ regulatory norms as well as accumulation of resources. (proliferating particularly after the recent global financial crisis). The goal of this article is to provide a systematic review of principal challenges currently facing financial supervision. The article is split into three parts. Its first part discusses the theoretical foundations of the supervisory system trying to indicate the sources of its powers, including its societal role. It deserves more attention in view of the unprecedented powers acquired by supervisors over supervised institutions and the financial markets. In the second part we take a close look at the changing supervisory paradigm in its current form. The third part reviews the new challenges facing financial supervision in its search for innovations which adapt to new requirements, and the available opportunities in the development of its new toolkit.

Opis:
Integration of production planning and logistics is currently becoming more and more widespread in many companies. The role and tasks of production logistics in a company are dependent on many factors as well as on an appropriate definition of logistics. The development of the concept of the supply chain has resulted in a broader view of logistics. The primary goal of production logistics can be formulated as expansion of the capabilities for the implementation and reliability of deliveries with the lowest logistical and production costs. In such an approach production systems are those in which input quantities are temporally and spatially transformed into products. With logistical supply networks at the input and distribution networks at the output of the system, production and logistics are closely linked. The approach proposed within the framework of Lean enterprises is interesting. It requires first defining a stream of values, then mapping and improving it. The methods appearing in the literature under the name Lean toolbox can be used to improve a company"s productivity indices.

Many methods and techniques exist for improving the material flow and increasing productivity and efficiency of manufacturing systems. This article discusses a selection of proposals for improving the flow of a convergent manufacturing structure model. The fragmentary results presented are a result of examining the production structures displaying swiftness and flexibility. Due to the final products customization options the discussed line manufactures its range exclusively in the MTO (make – to – order) strategy. For customers of such a structure order execution time is paramount, which is why the main criteria indicating low efficiency were the occurring stoppages.

Social science research methods are being increasingly taught in an online setting. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a major driver of this trend recently. Although there has been extensive research on online teaching and learning in general, very few studies focus on how this needs to be done specifically in social science research methods (SSRM). This literature review summarizes the most current research evidence on SSRM teaching in an online setting. Such information can facilitate setting up future online teaching and learning activities regarding social science research methods. In addition, the article discusses how this knowledge can be transferred to a practical SSRM online teaching and learning tool (a toolbox in the Navigating Social Worlds project).

Opis:
SFMToolbox is an ArcGIS Python toolbox developed in ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) to perform preprocessing tasks for the automatic creation of maps of soil fertility parameters. Through SFMToolbox, users can automatically produce 12 soil fertility parameter maps as a batch at one time. It is easy to use, where users can only provide input; the output files are automatically created from the name of the sample point and saved in the defined workspace. During the execution of the tools, various processes, such as Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) – a technique of interpolation, reclassification, adding color, merging, projection, area calculation, and legend are done automatically for all 12 parameters at the same time. The SFMToolbox was validated as part of the following case study: village – Kashipur, tehsil – Balrampur, district – Balrampur, state – Uttar Pradesh, Country – India. The results show that the user can quickly generate maps and save time, improve accuracy, and reduce human intervention and ensure uniformity among maps. This toolbox also applied to Cycle II data from the Government of India’s Soil Health Card (SHC) scheme and timely produced 12-parameters soil nutrient maps for 630 districts in a uniform format. The toolbox may be used by public and private organizations to make timely decisions on agricultural and environmental issues.

The second part of the article “Feedback: an attempt to map the phenomenon”. The first one, published in issue 174 of Didaskalia, is an attempt to systematize knowledge on the theory of feedback and to indicate it as a tool to support, organize and discipline the process of creative work and artistic education. In the second part published below, the author creates a feedback toolbox, discussing possible methods and structures of feedback developed by the business, artistic education and individual creative practices of people working both in Poland and in other European countries and in the United States of America. Mira Mańka puts her reflections on feedback in two contexts: interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of psychology, sociology, education, theory and practice of business, and lived knowledge resulting from going through the university and artistic path of education in Poland. Referring to her own work and the experiences of other creators, she constructs an author’s and open selection of reflections, recommendations and directions for the development of feedback, both in the perspectives of Polish theater pedagogy and individual artistic practice.

Innovation is a vital factor in today's markets and can dramatically change a company's competitive position. Despite its importance, innovation can also be a high risk adventure for companies due to the high level of uncertainty it entails. This article describes how well structured procedures can help companies guide through the whole innovation process, from idea generation to market launch. Furthermore, it illustrates how the decision making process regarding innovation management can be supported by appropriate software. First, currently existing innovation process models are investigated. How they support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in their innovation activities is analysed and a modification Thom's well known process model is presented. Furthermore, a description of useful methods and instruments and their use within the innovation process is provided in the form of the innovation tool box. The innovation tool box helps companies both select and implement appropriate methods for the context at hand. A discussion of core factors and basic conditions for successful innovation management in SMEs rounds out the paper. A software tool for innovation management is then presented. Such software systematically supports innovation management and decision making throughout the whole innovation process. Furthermore, by demanding specific description and guidance of innovation methods it can additionally help companies in executing their innovation projects. How the database within the software can also be used to help companies distribute relevant information effectively is also described.

Opis:
Maps are very useful for understanding unknown places before visiting them as maps represent spatial relationships between various objects in a region. Using robots for map construction is an important field these days as robots can reach places which may be inaccessible to human beings. This paper presents a method to use the data obtained from a single ultrasonic sensor mounted on a robot, to construct a map and localize the robot within that map. Map of the previously unknown environment is created with the help of a mobile robot, built using Lego Mindstorms NXT assembled in a modified TriBot configuration. The robot is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor and is controlled from a computer system running a MATLAB program, which communicates with the NXT over a USB or Bluetooth connection and performs complex calculations that are not possible for the NXT itself. After the map construction, the robot finds its position in the map by using a particle filter. Implementation has been done in MATLAB programming environment using RWTH – Mindstorms NXT Toolbox and has been successfully tested for map construction of a room and localization within that room with the use of a TriBot.
