Opis:
The canonization of Pope John XXIII, which took place on the 27th of April 2014, caused many commentators of the Church and theologians to reconsider his life and work. The greatness of this Bishop of Rome shows particularly in his work on the renewal of the Church. Owing to the Good Pope, as he was often referred to, the Church opened itself to the contemporary world and started a dialogue with it, but also met with it and offered a clear answer to the problems of individual people and the whole of mankind. Throughout his short, nearly 5-year-long pontificate (1958-1963) the Bishop of Rome managed to transform the image of the Church and propose concrete projects of the new organization of the society. There are two characteristic and closely related elements of the ecclesial renewal in the papal teachings: the modernization of the Church and reading the signs of the times. Without permanent modernization the Church cannot effectively fulfil its mission of continuing Christ’s work and preaching the Good News of salvation. John XXIII looked optimistically on contemporary processes and perceived God’s intentions revealed through them – the signs of the times which are the characteristic features of an epoch transpiring in the course of history. Discerning the signs of the times is a necessary condition for the Church to understand the ever changing reality of the world to which it is sent. The most important event of John XXIII’s pontificate was the preparation and convention of the Second Vatican Council.

Opis:
The beginning of the 16th century in western Christianity’s history was marked by the appearance of its third tendency, i.e. the Protestantism. In its two main confessional variants (Lutheranism, Calvinism) the protestant theology phrased different models of understanding of a church. The Lutheran ecclesiology was defined in The Augsburg Confession, Art. 5: “That we may obtain this faith, the Ministry of Teaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments was instituted”. Teaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments are thenceforth notae ecclesiae, i.e. constitutive marks of a church. In the 16th century and later the bond between autonomous, national Lutheran churches had only a spiritual character. Bringing the Lutheran World Federation to life in 1947 was a result of a long process of looking for a deeper bond between the Lutherans all over the world. LWF’s ecclesiology was developed on consecutive General Assemblies. In 1984 in Budapest the member churches’ delegates accepted the “pulpit and altar fellowship”, understood as a principle of membership and relations between LWF’s member churches. 1990 the Assembly in Curitiba (Brazil) introduced a change to the status, describing the Federation as a communion of churches. In the 21st century the communion of Lutheran churches is based on the Reformation’s idea of spiritual communion of believers, gathered around the common teachings of Gospel and altar, aiming at closer cooperation in the world, with advanced autonomy and possibility to formulate opinions independently or to continue local traditions. It is a completion of Reformation’s ecclesiological vision and an alternative model to integralist visions.

Great East-West Schism
Opis:
This article above could be called as a supplement to the History of the Church – it has been written not to present in a narrative way the common-known course of the East-West Schism which began in the 11th century, but to give some remarks and to present some little known details, which could be helped to create a new dimension of reflexion, and even of discussion on problems included in this article. The event of the 1054th in modern historiography are treated as absolutely end of the “Church unity indivisibility period”. This point of view does not divide the Author of this article, so he decided to present a new- quality-reflexion, thanks of it the described events could be recognized as the consequence of earlier revealing trends. The Author also shows, that the Church unity is not so clear, because in the Church History you can meet some separatist tendencies. It is but very important, that no one of them could foil the principal ecclesiastical hallmark, the Unity. This Unity could situate the reality of Church in the God’s Plan of Salvation, making it independent from human decisions, disagreement cases or arrogance. The unity reflexion based both on the biblical and patristic analysis, permit us in new way treat the events of 1054th. Their “schismatic” character, especially in context of the patristic texts seems to by rather a heated discussion, in which both interested parts desire in cooperation to respond their epoch challenge. It was, after all, the great epoch of the Gregorian Roman Catholicism reform and of “theological Byzantine golden age”. So it should be better, when we treat the Schism simple as a division, and in the rough Hierarchy’s declarations we find signs of Church responsibility. This way of thinking is justified by creating Normans’ power and increasing problems with Caesaropapism tendencies. The conclusion of this article is clear: in consequence of the 1054th events “Byzantine Golden age” was about to be broken, but the Church Unity remained untouched…

Opis:
The first part of the article concerns the topic of the title of the church from the ancient times of christianity to the Code of Canon Law promulgated by Pope John Paul II. The second part of the article presents legal aspects of dedication of the church and shows that not every church was allowed to be dedicated. In that case such church should be blessed before it had been allocated to the cult. The third part of this article deals with legal norms concerned with celebration of the title of the church usually called parish indulgence. Subsequently, the article presents titles of churches of Żurawica in the historical order. The three first of them were the parishes of St. Catherine from Alexandria, The Virgin and Martyr and St. Matthew the Apostle. On the other hand, the present church has been dedicated to Immaculate Conception of The Most Holy Virgin Mary. The issue of churches in Żurawica being dedicated is discussed in the final part of the article. The three first were not solemnly dedicated. Only the fourth one was dedicated in 1905. The last chapter discusses the indulgence’s diplomas given by the Holy See to churches of Żurawica and presents possibilities of gaining the complete indulgence by visiting the church in the given location.

Frequent information in the media about offences of the Catholic clergy without mentioning similar misdeeds of laity makes one challenge the Church’s claim of holiness and demand expulsion of a sinner from her. This article shows a theological, i.e. the original understanding of the Church holiness, which consists in the presence of Christ in her and of his grace which sanctifies sinners. The requirement of highly ethical Christian behaviour is only the consequence of baptismal grace – and in its realism – means growth in grace and constant conversion. Fundamentality of this baptismal relationship with the Church lasts despite sins of the baptized but it implies their attitude of constant conversion. The notion “sinful Church” does not exclude her holiness as it expresses the truth that – like Christ – she is indeed burdened and carries the faults of her members. A derivative of the Church historical dimension is a constant and regular need to verify and renew her structures, taking into account pastoral fruitfulness.

In the light of sources seniores laici appear as the integral part of the organization both the Church of Donatist as and Catholic in Northern Africa. Represented sources are a sufficient proof on their existence. In Church communities they took place between the Church hierarchy and the faithful people. They were chosen by the people. Fulfilling their own duties by them were collaborated with bishops in administering and the safing of the church property. Heretic (gr. αἵρεσις – choice, purpose) movements are mentioned for the first time in the Catholics documents just a few centuries after Christ. They are related mostly to Manichaean movements which were created by Manes who believed that there are two elements in the world, Good and Evil who are still fighting with each other. Manichaeans rejected everything related to flesh and earth, but accepted only spiritual matters, because only those things were good in their opinion. It was a strong and very influential movement whose basic ideas became the fundamentals of many posterior philosophies, most of which were later deemed as heretic. An adjective ‘Manichaean’ became so negative over time that every new movement that wasn’t accepted by the Catholic Church was defined as ‘Manichean’.

Opis:
Inicjuje go wprowadzenie do właściwego, nieredukcyjnego, rozumienia pojęcia „tożsamość Kościoła”, po czym omówione zostały główne tychże Kościołów rodzaje tożsamości wraz z ich komponentami: tożsamość teologiczna (tożsamość w Bogu, tożsamość eklezjologiczna, teologiczna auto-tożsamość, tożsamość personalistyczna, pastoralna, tożsamość w znakach wiarygodności, tożsamość w kontekście aktualnych wyzwań), tożsamość historyczna (geneza, główne okresy dziejów, tożsamość stanowiona, ogólna tożsamość historyczna, aktualna tożsamość historyczna), tożsamość etyczno-moralna, tożsamość kulturowa i inne (tożsamość religijna, aktualna auto-tożsamość, tożsamość komparatywna).
According to the Catholic faith the Church established by Jesus Christ subsistit in the Catholic Church as the Universal Church (Ecclesia universalis, Catholica). This Church is also communio Ecclesiarum and subsistit in local and particular Churches, and in community among them. Joseph Ratzinger, following the teaching of the Catholic Church, reminds that a local Church (Ecclesia localis) means a patriarchy or a `specific community of traditions and rites' and a particular Church (Ecclesia particularis) means a community of believers subjected to one bishop (a diocese). Post-conciliar Catholic ecclesiology has been mostly focused on the Universal Church. Such `universal' ecclesiology earned mature methodologies. But meantime, the Universal Church has also been present in local and particular Churches which are making their own history and identity day by day. For example, in 2016 the Catholic Church in Poland celebrated 1050th Jubilee which itself offered an opportunity to describe its main dimensions and identity. So-called young Churches are on their way to establish their identity. By no means, in our times and eyes the `identity' becomes one of the key-words in theological refection on the Church. The more secular the modern world and culture become, the more clearly one can see the difference between them and the Church. This paper offers a methodological outline of the identity of local and particular Catholic Churches. Its purpose is to name and shortly describe main kinds of such identity (theological, historical, ethical-moral, cultural) and their components. But first, making some remarks as introduction is very much required.

The period of the Enlightenment within the context of the Polish cultural history commenced as late as in the 2nd half of the 18th century and corresponds with the time of the reign of king Stanislaus August Poniatowski (1764-1795). His patronage created favourable conditions for the development of literature and arts, including the music. There are three genres of music characteristic of this period: vocals (religious, secular, patriotic, festive and idyllic songs), vocal-instrumental pieces (operas, cantatas, oratories, church sonatas, solo sonatas with accompaniment) and instrumentals (symphonies, chamber music and piano concertos). When it comes to the style of the Polish Enlightenment music, it drew from the early Classicism and the native musical folklore. In those days there was a tendency to render the home art more ‘national’. The church music from the Polish Enlightenment period does not match in its artistic value that of Baroque. However, it has earned a prominent place in the history of the sacred music in Poland.

This article is about the Trinitarian theology of St. Ambrose of Milan concluded in De fi de, the most important and most complex bishop’s work of dogmatic. It focuses in particular on the innovative and original aspects of the theological thought of the Father of the Church. The fi rst point is given status quaestionis of Ambrosian theology. In the past, used to be attributed to Ambrose opinion good “politics” church, but poor theologian. More recent studies show one-sidedness of this opinion. In the second section are therefore discussed the aspects of Trinitarian theology Doctor of the Church, which show the specifi city and originality of his theological refl ection. They include: a new understanding of the role of the Emperor in matters of religion; relationship between faith and ecclesial interpretation of Scripture, the new interpretation of the term homoousios used by the Council of Nice, a development theme of unity of the Trinity by reference to the unity of the nature and operation of divine Persons, and not only in based on the idea arché, deepening the understanding of the mystery of the Incarnation; Christ as the center of Ambrosian spirituality, and fi nally, the relationship between faith in the Holy Trinity and the unity of the Church. In light of these issues emerges own and original theological “personality” of Bishop of Milan, and in this way it becomes possible to more comprehensive assessment of and appreciation for his contribution to the refl ection of the Trinity.

German Synodal Way
Christianity in Europe
the crisis of the Church
self-destruction of the German Church
necessary reforms in the Catholic Church
Opis:
Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, the closest associate of Pope Benedict XVI, theologically as if his Alter-Ego, is certainly one of the best experts in the Catholic Church in Germany. And it is he who compares the present condition of this Church to the catastrophe of such a huge and luxurious Titanic, which, however, is slowly sinking, because those responsible turned out to be reckless and did  not predict the worst. Indeed, so far the application of almost all criteria that apply to the evaluation of a religious community has shown that, in fact, since the Second Vatican Council, this Church has been losing its vitality and shrinking. However, the so-called Synodal Way has deteriorated even more dramatically in recent times. Its agenda includes goals and demands that are contrary to both Revelation and the Tradition of the Church, and that are contrary to common sense. These are the goals and demands that  have been made by even extreme left and atheistic ideologues and politicians, and which are now to move to the center and  foundations of church teaching. It seems that just as almost all English bishops in the 16th century succumbed to the state violence of King Henry VIII and betrayed  Christ and the Church, today the vast majority of German clergymen succumb to ideological violence in the area of culture and the state and thus betray their own faith and betray Church and Christ. It seems that many of them are close to the ideas of Georg Wilhelm Hegel, who considered himself wiser and greater than all, also than Christ, and the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche, who wanted to replace the crucified Messiah with Dionysus – a patron of, among other things, debauchery. It seems that many of the faithful and clergy in Germany also want to carry out a sexual revolution in the Church as if the second Reformation, perhaps even more catastrophic than the first. It seems that they are putting gender theory in place of Revelation and Christianity. And gender is, in fact, another neo-Marxist pansexual ideology which elevates eroticism as if it were the most important value, more important  especially than God and one’s own salvation. One has to ask, how could such a great spiritual catastrophe of a Church that was once so numerous, so strong, so faithful and creative? We must ask what to do so that no more Church would destroy itself so that such a spiritual disease would not spread to other Churches. This article tries to answer these fundamental questions. It does so by analyzing the cultural, historical, national, economic, spiritual and religious conditions of German society that led to such an advanced process of self-destruction of the  Church.

Opis:
This article presents the activities of the of Pontifical Commission for Cul-tural Heritage of the Church. The Commission was established in 1993 with John Paul II's Motu Proprio Inde a Pontificatus Nostri Initio, substituting the Pontifical Commission for the Conservation of the Artistic Patrimony of the Church, created five years earlier within the Congregation for the Clergy with Apostolic Constitution Pastor Bonus. The Commission for Cultural Patrimony thus became an independent or-ganization with duties: presiding over the guardianship of the historical and artistic patrimony of the entire Church, collaborating in the conservation of this patrimony with the individual Churches and their respective episcopal organi-zations; and promoting an ever greater awareness in the Church about these riches. Throughout the year the Commission for Cultural Patrimony maintains contacts with international organizations. The representatives of the commis-sion participate in congresses and meetings on issues concerning ecclesiastical cultural goods. The Commission published Letters-Documents, in which guidelines for intensifying the commitment of the ecclesial community to protection and promotion of its goods of culture and also calls greater attention to the care and appraisal of the cultural patrimony of the Church in evangelization.
