Opis:
Recently Taguchi methods are used to decide optimum processing conditions with narrow dispersion for robust design. On the other hand, innovative development with short-term, low cost, labor and energy saving is also required in the world. In this study, the software for development of a product with optimum condition using Taguchi methods is developed and evaluated. There are two trials in the software using Taguchi methods. First trial investigates rough functions regarding all levers of all control factors, then important control factors and meaningless control factors were sorted with the several comments for the second trial. At that time, maximum, intermediate and minimum values for each lever of each of the control factors should be used for pursuit of all possibilities. In the first trial, the relationship between each level value of each of the control factor and the desired property is also decided by the function, then the optimum combination using each level of each of the control factors were calculated for the second trial by using the function. The second trial is confirmed for the best combination using the estimated optimum level values. For example of an application, the optimum design for the paper craft “airplane” was investigated for evaluating this software in the experiment. It is concluded from the result that: (1) The proposed software was useful for developing with short-term and lower cost, (2) This tool could quickly and exactly decide the optimum design condition and (3) The paper craft “airplane“ with most long flying length is manufactured by using the developed software.

The cement process is one of the industries where energy is consumed intensively. High levels the amount of carbon dioxide emission reaches since the nature of the raw materials used in its production. At this point, using industrial wastes and by-products containing oxides such as calcium, silica, alumina, and iron oxides blended cement reduces energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. In this study, the effects of using ceramic sanitary ware waste (CSW) instead of clinker on the cement grinding stage were investigated. The grinding tests were carried out with clinker in a ball mill, according to grinding parameters as ball filling ratio, ball diameter, and grinding time by using Taguchi method for optimization of cement grinding condition. The reference and blended cements with CSW were determined compressive strength.

Opis:
Zinc coatings obtained by immersion metallization are an effective and economical way to protect against corrosion also for high carbon steels, foundry iron alloys. However, the difficulties encountered in surface preparation due to oxide contamination, as well as the presence of carbon (graphite) from the casting process or cast iron sludge, make cast irons zinc-plated by manufacturers reluctantly. The technological properties of the zinc baths and the technological properties of the coatings obtained vary considerably depending on the various impurity and alloying additives. The effect of zincing time significantly affects the thickness of zinc coatings and is dependent on the mass and thickness of the sample. The submerged object heats up faster or slower, depending on the thickness, and its temperature first reaches and then exceeds the melting point of the zinc. However, to avoid zinc over time, it is appropriate to respond to the current ISO standard EN 1461:2009, which specifies the minimum thickness of zinc coatings on steel substrate. The subject of the study was the optimization of parameters metallization using the Taguchi Method. The analysis took into account the influence of the immersion time and temperature of the bath of molten zinc on the thickness of the zinc coating. The test was conducted for three different times, i.e. 30, 60 and 150 seconds and for three different values of the temperature of the bath: 440, 460, 480 [°C]. In order to predict the thickness of the coating, multiple regression analysis was applied, which showed that the experiment was carried out correctly and falling within the limits of tolerance error.

Opis:
In order to meet the advent of the high-definition liquid crystal display (LCD) era, in addition to the high-quality panel manufacturing technology, how the backlight module can provide a uniform backlight with higher uniformity for a better experience in viewing, is a very important and urgent issue. In this study, the 15.6-inch side-in backlight module was used as the benchmark, and the Taguchi method was applied to find the high uniformity. The matching of the fishbone diagram affects the optical uniformity factor of the backlight module, such as the size of the light guide plate dot, the color of the plastic frame, the color of the fixed gel of the light guide plate, and the difference of the reflection surface. The optical analog software LightTools is used according to the orthogonal table. The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the average uniformity characteristics is obtained, then it is converted into the best response factor of the factor response table and the factor reaction diagram. The homogeneity at 13 points is as high as 90.12%, which is 4.72% higher than the original design factor. The contribution of the four factors to the uniformity can be obtained by using the variance analysis. Finally, the influence of each factor level on the uniformity is discussed.

Opis:
Using the pad welding technique it is possible to regenerate machine parts or improve surface properties such as abrasion, corrosion and aging resistance. To ensure optimum processing conditions and economic efforts should be made, while providing a high deposition efficiency for the small amount of metal in the pad weld substrate. The pad welding process for the test subject should be carried out by preheating to evaporate the moisture and reduce the porosity of the weld. This treatment is required depending on the carbon equivalent. The article presents the results of corrosion tests of multi-groove pads made with the MIG method on a steel substrate. The samples were made of C45E steel. The additional material was a wire made of stainless steel with the factory name CASTOMAG 4554S. The results of previously performed tests allowed determining the optimal process parameters at which we obtain the smallest share of the base material in the padding. Steel samples were prepared and preheated to 300ºC. The hardfacing process was carried out with constant parameters, i.e. current intensity, arc voltage, surfacing speed). Two protective gases were used to apply the additional material: CO2 and argon. The samples were subjected to corrosion tests in two environments (3.5% sodium chloride solution and 0.001 sulfuric acid solution). The assessment of corrosive properties was made on the basis of constant current measurements (potentiodynamic method). The influence of shielding gas on corrosion properties was demonstrated based on the tests.

Opis:
The culture conditions for the production of carrageenase were optimized using one-factor-at-a-time method combined with orthogonal array design. With the one-factor-at-a-time method revealed optimal conditions for carrageenase production were 24 h of fermentation period, 28 °C incubation temperature at pH 8.0 with NaNO3 as nitrogen source and carrageenan as carbon source in MMS media. Further optimization of carrgeenase production by using orthogonal experimental design L9 (34) with four factors, temperature, pH, NH4NO3 and carrageenan with their relevant levels revealed optimised conditions for carrageenase production were temperature of 28 °C, pH 8.0, 2 g L-1 NaNO3 and 2 g L-1 carrageenan. The order of the factors affecting the fermentation process was found to be temperature > pH > NaNO3 > carrageenan. The temperature played a significant role on the carrageenase production. Higher carrageenase yield with activity of 0.542 ±0.045 U ml-1 was obtained in the optimised medium when compared to those of basal medium. Carrageenase hydrolysed products of carrageenan were identified by LC-ESI-MS as neocarrabiose, neocarrabiose-4 sulfate, neocarratetraose, neocarratetraose-4 sulfate, anhydrogalactose, galactose, galactose-4 sulphate and sulphate.

The braking system is one of the most important systems in any vehicle. Its proper functioning may determine the health and life the people inside the vehicle as well as other road users. Therefore, it is important that the parameters which characterise the functioning of brakes changed as little as possible throughout their lifespan. Multiple instances of heating and cooling of the working components of the brake system as well as the environment they work in may impact their tribological properties. This article describes a method of evaluating the coefficient of friction and the wear speed of abrasive wear of friction working components of brakes. The methodology was developed on the basis of Taguchi’s method of process optimization.

Opis:
Typical textile waste water contains a high concentration of spent dye that can pose serious destructive impact on aquatic environment. Therefore, treatment of textile industry effluents is strictly imposed by the relevant government authorities and environmental protection agencies. During present studies, spent dye was removed using potato starch, an environmental friendly, biodegradable and cost effective coagulant, through coagulation/flocculation process. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed that indicated the interaction of process parameters. It was observed that the interaction of temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were the most significant parameters that can affect the coagulation/flocculation process. So, temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were optimized by Taguchi optimization technique. The results indicated that maximum dye (about 27%) was removed when temperature, pH and coagulant dosage were kept at 55°C, 10 and 0.5% (w/v), respectively.
