Purpose: The aim of the study is to discuss the problems related to consumer time valuation and its implications. This domain remains relatively unexplored in marketing literature. Methodology: The author approached the time valuation problem in a synthetic and interdisciplinary way. To facilitate the analysis of time characteristics as a consumer resource and temporal decisions, the comparison with money was applied, which is an approach well established in the literature. Findings: Time can be a source of value only to selected consumers, as not all perceive time as scarce. Mental accounting for time is difficult; hence consumers tend to use heuristics to arrive at their temporal decisions and prefer immediate discounting of temporal benefits. Contrary to a popular adage, time is not money, at least in the context of the majority of consumers’ decisions. Research limitations/implications: Despite growth in the number of publications, knowledge of temporal aspects in consumer behavior is limited and fragmented. Less is known about how to turn the perceived value of time into customer value. Further investigation is needed to identify consumer groups that truly value time. Practical implications: The knowledge of temporal aspects of consumer behavior, and how consumers value time, would be of particular use in the service industry, where the “when” of customer value is usually provided in the form of “convenience”. Originality: This study sheds light on research gaps in the literature in an under- investigated subject, examining the link between the perceived value of time and possibilities to generate value based on temporal benefits.

Knowing the standard operating times of technological operations is essential element in the business operations of every production enterprise. It is the basis for establishing the production capacity, planning the production schedule, or even calculating costs. The article presents a variety of methods used in the calculation of standard worktime of technological operations. An especially important distinction was made between calculating the total machining time and the actual cutting time. The article focuses on relationship between time perspective and place of residen-ce. Five hundred and eleven Ukrainian participants completed the Zimbardo Time Per-spective Inventory [Ukrainian language version by Oksana Senyk (Senyk, 2012)] and a questionnaire that included the question about participants’ current place of residence and their place of residence in childhood. Answers to the questionnaire made it possible to consider in the research respondents’ change of residential place and its relation to the formation of different time orientations. The results have shown that the individu-al’s time perspective is influenced not by the specific life situation represented by his past or current place of residence, but upon his whole life story that includes changing different residential settlements. The research has also indicated that among all types of settlements rural settlements most significantly contribute to the development of time orientation towards a positive past.

The stability analysis for discrete-time fractional linear systems with delays is presented. The state-space model with a time shift in the difference is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for practical stability and for asymptotic stability have been established. The systems with only one matrix occurring in the state equation at a delayed moment have been also considered. In this case analytical conditions for asymptotic stability have been given. Moreover parametric descriptions of the boundary of practical stability and asymptotic stability regions have been presented.

Family is the most important educational environment. It is in the family that a child discovers the world of values. The opinions and attitude are shaped, traditions are recognized. A properly functioning family fulfils the basic needs for safety, love, security, and trust. Family shapes one's interests as well as securing and organising leisure time for children. The research conducted was to find an answer to the question: How does a family organize the leisure time of its children? The acquired data confirms the hypothesis that family organises the leisure time of its children and allows for the development of interests that foster the development of personality and introduce one to the world of values. Furthermore, a proper organisation of leisure time prevents the demoralisation of children and youth.

One of the basic conditions of human life (and the ways of experiencing it) is that it is temporal and the our lifetime is limited. Today we observe fast technological changes, access to a lot of information and frequent necessity to execute tasks quickly, which is why many people experience limits of time necessary to perform their action. Conscious of their own mortality, people also experience the limits of their own lifetime. In this context, the question, what would it mean for a given individual “to make proper use of time” seems to be quite important. Research was conducted on a group of 127 students. The objective of the research was to obtain answers to exploratory questions: What are the individual concepts of that, what does “proper time use” mean for students (both in short-term perspective and lifetime perspective). In order to discover the individual concepts of “proper time use”, a questionnaire containing open questions was constructed. Th e questions were connected with three time use perspectives: a week of study, a week of holidays and the whole life. It corresponds with the division made by Popiołek (2010) into two perspectives, in which time is captured by the man: every day time and lifetime. Answers were categorized. The most frequent criteria of “proper time use” were: attaining objectives (74%), pleasure and seeking sensations (61%), relations with other people (49%), personal development (34%) and life satisfaction (30%). Definite majority of the answers were general and pointed to a lack of deeper reflection on their lives, on “how I would like to make use of my lifetime”. The results obtained may have application value – based on them, initial postulates were proposed for work on increasing self-consciousness of students in the respect of time management.

The essay faces up to the topic of “crisis” from the perspective of historical and sociological semantics. Troublesomeness of the crisis is a permanent fixture in any philosophy of historical time. One of the essential elements of work technology assessment is task performance time. In the working day structure, production times are crucial; however, under certain conditions, complementary work times can have a share of up to 30%. Accurate determination of the time structure of a work shift is very time consuming and requires time measurements using the methods of cumulative timing or snapshot observations. For this reason, the overall share of complementary work times in a work shift is usually estimated roughly, equally for all timber harvesting conditions. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of selected working environment factors on the share of complementary work times in a work shift, in technologies on the manual-machine and the machine levels. The analyses were carried out in 33 forest districts of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Wrocław. Among forest contractors, surveys were carried out to analyse the time structure of a working day. For each forest district, analyses of environmental factors potentially relevant to the share of complementary work times in a work shift were carried out; these included field features, dispersion of stands, features of timber, area accessibility. The total share of complementary work times in the machine-level technology variant amounted to approx. 40% and was higher than the manual-machine technological variant, where this share amounted to approx. 35%. The models developed for standardization of the share of variability of complementary work times, in the case of the manual-machine technology level, took into account the share of timber assortments with the length of over 2.5 m as well as the share of upland and mountain sites. In the case of timber harvesting at the machine technology level, the standardization model included as significant the factors such as the share of coniferous forest sites, the number of forest complexes with an area of over 100 hectares, and the total length of roads. Therefore, the above features could be selected as decisive for the share of the complementary work time category out of the full set of environmental variables taken into consideration in the estimation of the time-consumption of timber harvesting processes.

Celem artykułu są rozważania na temat czasu w konsumpcji. Służą one przedstawieniu wybranych zagadnień z zakresu interpretacji czasu – ich miejsca i znaczenia w analizie konsumpcji oraz istoty gospodarowania czasem jako niefinansowym środkiem konsumpcji będącym w dyspozycji jednostki. Prowadzą do stwierdzenia, że czas w konsumpcji jest tą kategorią, która z jednej strony ma charakter instytucji społecznej, regulatora zdarzeń społecznych, właściwości ludzkiego działania – jest integralną częścią porządku społecznego; z drugiej – jest cennym dobrem, ograniczonym zasobem jakim gospodarują jednostki w celu zaspokojenia potrzeb egzystencji (podstawowych), potrzeb samorozwoju i społecznych (wyższego rzędu).
The aim of this article is a reflection on the time in consumption. They serve as a presentation: selected issues in the field of interpretation of time – their place and significance in the analysis of consumption; the economy sometimes acts as a nonfinancial means of consumption at the disposal of the individual. They lead to the conclusion that time in consumption is the category which, on the one hand, is the social institution, the regulator of social events, the characteristic of human activity – is an integral part of the social order; on the other hand, it is a valuable asset, limited by the resources that the individual manages to meet the needs of existence (basic), needs of selfdevelopment and social (higher order).

Since 1972 , a leap second has been added, approximately once a year, into UTC, the world’s atomic time scale used for civilian purposes, to keep it in phase with the Earth’s rotation. Leap seconds ensure that the Sun remains over the Greenwich meridian at noon, with the accuracy of approximately 1 s. The issue of adding the leap second has been debated since 2000 by different working groups of various international organizations, especially ITU-R WP 7A. The main question remains whether the need for the leap second still exists, as its introduction is associated with numerous technical inconveniences. An overwhelming opinion that prevails in those groups is that it would be more beneficial to let the atomic time run its course and accept that the world’s civilian time scale is bound to slowly diverge from the rotation of the Earth. The National Institute of Telecommunications has become, in recent years, one of the leaders of this process. This article provides a brief history of the current UTC-related practices and outlines various potential solutions to the problem.

Testing and reasoning are two main closely related diagnostic activities. Diagnostic testing is realized in Newtonian (short) time while diagnostic reasoning - in (long) Bergsonian time. Both sort of time are used to analyze different kinds of problems in diagnostics and reliability of technical objects. Newtonian and Bersonian time differentiation needs some expert knowledge. In this paper, considerations are based on observation that Newtonian time of diagnostic testing is related to object maintenance (adjustment) and Bergsonian time is related to object is reliability. A significant change of the object’s technical condition (signals or parameters of the state) causes changes of its regulation state (quality indicators change) and the characteristics of reliability. As it is required for the operation and reliability to be always appropriate and permanent, the control should be adjusted to functional needs of the object, and the use should be adapted to the current characteristics of reliability. Therefore, change of the settings of the control device (made during the handling of the object) represents the change of technical condition and state of reliability. It is presumed that, during the operation of a technical object, the selection of the control settings for damaged object is impossible. This fact, when predicted, becomes the basis for the prediction of the object reliability.

Contemporary socio-cultural situation based on globalization make that many categories, concepts and theories required decontextualization, then recontextualization and redefinition. This process also applies to so intuitively obvious category, which is time. The specificity of the „survival” of time, perception and understanding have changed significantly influenced by current trends of modern times, such as the primacy of pleasure, the cult of success, mainstream consumerism, mass media influence. Because of these issues important and necessary it seems that re-thinking on modern understanding of time as a sociocultural category, which characterizes the quality and style of life of individuals as it exists in the current, post-modern space-time. This article provides theoretical considerations on the nature and specificity of everyday time and festive time in the context of current sociocultural based globalization processes. Assuming that the time and its fulfillment, or lifestyle are subject to the relationship of interdependence, the analysis will undergo a proposition about the consistency / heterogeneity of the individual’s life style presented in the context of the division of temporal existence of the unit on time everyday and festive time. Considerations will address today’s youth. It results from the specific lifestyle of this age group, which is due to the peculiarities of the development phase and the „soak” contemporary trends, in particular understands everyday / celebrating.
