Writer Pavol Strauss is little known in Slovakia and Poland because there were several decades between his first collections of poetry written in the German language in the period between the two World Wars and his Slovak post-war essays, and then his other works (essays, diaries and aphorisms) published sporadically or after 1989 on the other. He published four collections of poetry in German: Die Kanone auf dem Ei (1936), Schwarze Verse (1937), Worte aus der Nacht (published bilingually in 2001) and Bruder Abel lebt ja noch (manuscript).After 1946 Pavol Strauss stopped writing poetry and stopped writing in German.

The issues addressed in the title of the work have been exemplified with Jan Simonides’s travelogue Incarceratio, liberatio et peregrination. The text is an exemplar of the dramatic experience of Slovak Protestants in 1674-1675, following by their liberation and forced emigration lasting till 1682. Unfortunately, the original text by Simionides from 1676 has been not maintained. It was edited down by Josef Minarik from eighteenth-century copies as Imprisonment, liberation and peregrination of Jan Simonides and his comrade Tobias Masnik. Referring to the epoch documents, letters, notes and authentic surnames and taking into account the chronicle requirements – strict dating and narrative time division according to the sequence of events, Simonides gives a recipient a sense of authenticity. He is not blind to his own confession but he is interested in dissimilarities. Although he most often uses a collective subject, paradoxically, he gives a recipient his individual experience.

The primary goal of the paper is to state the financial benchmark values for liquidity ratios in Slovak agriculture. Authors measured liquidity with current ratio, quick ratio and cash ratio which are the traditional way of liquidity measurement. Using descriptive statistics authors describe the liquidity performance of more than 1,100 enterprises in each period in 2004–2011. Based on the results authors can conclude that the common recommended values for liquidity ratios cannot be used for agriculture. The overall liquidity in agriculture is much lower and therefore the results presented in this article can be used as a benchmark for individual enterprises comparison.
Podstawowym celem pracy jest określenie finansowych wartości odniesienia dla wskaźników płynności w rolnictwie Słowacji. Płynność określono z wykorzystaniem wskaźników płynności bieżącej, szybkiej i natychmiastowej, które są tradycyjnymi miernikami płynności. Wykorzystując metody statystyki opisowej, autorzy określili płynność w ponad 1100 przedsiębiorstwach w poszczególnych latach w okresie 2004–2011. Na podstawie wyników można stwierdzić, że powszechnie zalecane wartości dla wskaźników płynności nie mogą być stosowane w rolnictwie. Płynność w rolnictwie jest znacznie niższa i dlatego wyniki przedstawione w tym artykule mogą być stosowane jako punkt odniesienia dla porównania poszczególnych przedsiębiorstw.

First the authors pay their attention to the issue of recodification of Slovak Criminal Code and Slovak Code of Criminal Procedure. They notice that for the first time was eliminated material element of factual ground of crime ( danger of crime to society) and now there is in the Slovak Republic pure formal conception of crime. The age limit of criminal liability was altered from 15 to 14 years as well. One of the results of the above mentioned contemporary formal conception of crime in the Slovak Republic is expanding of the special part of the Criminal Code, due to precising of factual grounds of crimes. In regard to Code of Criminal Procedure it is important to mention that after the recodification the term “bodies active in criminal proceedings” means merely the prosecutor and the police body. Into the main hearing were incorporated some contradictory elements. It subsequently brought up different opinions on course of main hearing forasmuch as the Code of Criminal Procedure does not determine this process precisely. At the end the authors notice that now, after receiving knowledge about various complications in Slovak criminal procedure it would by appropriate amend criminal law regulation in the Slovak Republic and eliminate known problems.

Subject of recodification of Slovak criminal law was institute of reduced sanity. In this report author analysis special provisions, which concern with this institute. Reduce sanity influences choice of sanction instruments with aim of security purpose of punishment. Court has duty to take account on fact of existence reduced sanity. In this issue, it is necessary to observe nature of mental illness or possible presence of habit forming substance. Asset of new legal regulation is unification of legal provisions of abandonment of punishment. Certain defect is absence of legal definition of reduced sanity.

In the first half of the 19th century a law of 1806 was still in force in the field of education in Hungary. This law defined the organisation and content of education and was based on the school reforms of Empress Maria Theresa (1740–1780). The state had strengthened its influence on education and adapted it to the changing needs of economic and social life. The political freedom of the Slovak nation, including its language and education system, naturally became a focus for Ľudovít Štúr, who at that time was a key representative of Slovak national life and a leading personality of the Slovak national revival, as well as his collaborators, who in Slovak history were called “Štúr´s followers”. But the Štúr generation did not wait for the state and the law to solve the school issue, but actively contributed to the building of Slovak education by the establishment of Sunday schools, libraries and reading societies. The introduction of Hungarian language as a teaching language in Slovak national schools, however, became a new factor in Hungarian school policy.

In the text, the author poses several questions regarding the status of Slovak in the family of Slavic languages. No continuous language records have been preserved from 10th – 15th centuries, i.e. the period of the internal history of Old Slovak. Merely individual words, such as proper names (of places and persons) have been preserved in records written in Latin. Based on this incomplete and fragmented material, old linguistics, applying the principles of the Junggramatiker (Young Grammarian) School, was not able to provide a systemic description of Old Slovak. Only much later, modern linguistics, applying the basic principles of structuralism and modern research methods, used Slovak dialects to reconstruct the early history of Slovak. The author, later on, provides an overview of old as well as more recent phenomena of Proto-Slavic origin, which are, traditionally, considered so-called “Yugoslavisms” or phenomena of non-western Slavic origin in Old Slovak
W tekście autorka postawiła kilka pytań dotyczących miejsca języka słowackiego w rodzinie języków słowiańskich. Z okresu od X do XV wieku, tj. z czasu historii wewnętrznej języka starosłowackiego nie zachowały się zwarte zabytki językowe. Zachowały się tylko pojedyncze wyrazy, nazwy własne (miejscowe i osobowe) w zabytkach pisanych po łacinie. Starsze językoznawstwo, opierające się na podstawowych zasadach szkoły młodogramatycznej, nie mogło przedstawić systematycznego opisu najstarszych dziejów języka słowackiego na postawie tego niepełnego, fragmentarycznego materiału. Dopiero nowoczesne językoznawstwo, oparte na podstawowych zasadach strukturalizmu i wykorzystujące nowe metody badawcze włączyło do rekonstrukcji najstarszych dziejów języka słowackiego badanie dialektów słowackich. W dalszej części artykułu autorka prezentuje zestaw starszych i nowszych zjawisk pochodzenia prasłowiańskiego, które tradycyjnie uważane są za tzw. jugoslawizmy czy zjawiska pochodzenia niezachodniosłowiańskiego w języku starosłowackim.

The author of this paper deals with the issue of the referendum in the Slovak legal order, which has long been the subject of numerous professional debates in the Slovak Republic. It is a legal institution that is relatively problematic in Slovakia because the legal regulation concerning the referendum is written in many respects vaguely and raises many questions from a practical-application point of view. For this reason, in the first chapters, the author examines the legal regulation of the referendum in the Slovak Republic in general and outlines the questions to which Slovak legal science does not have clear answers. At the same time, the author analyses the latest decision of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, which has enriched the issue in question with some new and necessary answers.
Autor niniejszego artykułu zajmuje się kwestią referendum w słowackim porządku prawnym, która od dawna jest przedmiotem licznych debat specjalistów w Republice Słowackiej. Jest to instytucja prawna, która na Słowacji jest stosunkowo problematyczna, ponieważ regulacja prawna dotycząca referendum jest pod wieloma względami napisana niejasno i rodzi wiele pytań z punktu widzenia praktycznego jej stosowania. Z tego powodu w pierwszych częściach artykułu autor analizuje ogólnie regulacje prawne dotyczące referendum w Republice Słowackiej i stawia pytania, na które słowacka nauka prawa nie daje jasnych odpowiedzi. Jednocześnie analizuje ostatnie orzeczenie Trybunału Konstytucyjnego Republiki Słowackiej, które wzbogaciło omawiane zagadnienie o kilka nowych i niezbędnych odpowiedzi.

Artykuł prezentuje zasadniczy przegląd problematyki źródeł prawa Republiki Słowackiej. Ukazuje poszczególne rodzaje źródeł prawa na Słowacji i ich konstytucyjnoprawne umocowanie, przy czym obejmuje także krytyczną analizę elementów procedury ustawodawczej i konstytucyjnej. Przybliża podstawowy kształt krajowego systemu prawnego, który w zamyśle tradycyjnej koncepcji ma kształt piramidy, a wierzchołek jej stanowi Konstytucja i ustawy konstytucyjne. Te tradycyjne rozumienie jest konfrontowane z rozwojem stosunków prawa międzynarodowego, prawa europejskiego i prawa krajowego na tle teorii międzysystemowego (intersystemowego) pluralizmu prawnego. W artykule także skupiono się na wytyczenie miejsca umów międzynarodowych w porządku prawnym Republiki Słowackiej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pozycji Europejskiej Konwencji o Ochronie Praw Człowieka i Podstawowych Wolności oraz Karty Podstawowych Praw i Wolności UE. W tym celu przybliżone zostało odpowiednie orzecznictwo Sądu Konstytucyjnego Republiki Słowackiej i podniesiono problematykę stosunku słowackiego prawa krajowego i prawa wspólnotowego UE. Jako graniczne kryterium uznawania zasady pierwszeństwa prawa UE na pierwszy plan wysuwa się niepisane materialne jądro słowackiej Konstytucji.
The article gives a comprehensive overview of the issues of sources of law in the Slovak Republic. It describes the different types of sources of law of Slovak Republic and their constitutional and legal regulation and also focuses on the analysis of the critical moments of constitutional and legislative process. The text explains the basic form of the national legal system, which in the traditional terms takes the form of a pyramid, the top of which are the Constitution and constitutional acts. This traditional concept is confronted with the current development of relations of the systems of international law, European law and national law, on the background of the theory of inter – system legal pluralism. The article is focused on the definition of the status of international treaties in the legal order of the Slovak Republic, with particular emphasis on the status of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (European Convention on Human Rights) and the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of the European Union. For this purpose the relevant case-law of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic is demonstrated, and the issue of the concept of the relationship between the national law of the Slovak Republic and the European Union is raised. The unspoken material core of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic is to be considered as a criterion of recognition of the principle of the primacy of European Union law.

September 1999.These institutions modified these former laws concerning enforcement of tax payments through this tax pursuance. The author ́s main focus in this article is centered on tax execution pursuance and on the legal principles of law and the foundation of tax execution. In this connection we will concentrate on rules regarding right exclusivity and the process of carrying out tax execution pursuance and also the beginning of fulfilment of tax execution pursuance communique and the obligation to investigate fulfilment of conditions for implementing this pursuance adequacy to the extent of tax execution and so on.
