    For many years, tokens from Witalis Dąbrowski’s bakery have been incorrectly linked with Kielce. The aim of this article is to show that these tokens in fact were used in Reden (now a district of Dąbrowa Górnicza). Additionally, the author of the article, based on archival sources and newspapers of that time, tries to reconstruct the life and career of Witalis Dąbrowski.

    Count Frederick William von Reden is mostly known as the founder of Upper Silesian industries based on the development of iron foundry and coal mining, whereas he was also engaged in the implementation of a certain agricultural reform in Prussia. While visiting Great Britain he became interested in landscape gardening. Shortly before he was granted the title of Count, he had purchased a large estate in Bukowiec in Silesia which he then turned into a modern profitbringing agricultural enterprise. He commissioned an architect to rebuild his newly bought manor house as well as to construct new stables, barns and outhouses. He also hired gardeners to create a landscape garden ornamented with picturesque huts, some glass houses and a tea pavilion. After his death in 1815 his widow Countess Frederick von Reden inherited the farm land. She continued the work initiated by her husband almost till the end of her life in 1854. The author of the paper tries to reconstruct the process of transformation of an old-type manor estate into a modern ornamented farm.
    Hrabia Fryderyk Wilhelm von Reden jest znany przede wszystkim jako założyciel przemysłu górnośląskiego, bazującego na hutnictwie żelaza i wydobyciu węgla, tymczasem był on także zaangażowany w przeprowadzenie pewnego rodzaju reformy agrarnej w Prusach. Przebywając w Wielkiej Brytanii, zainteresował się zakładaniem parków krajobrazowych. Na krótko przed uzyskaniem hrabiowskiego tytułu nabył rozległe dobra w Bukowcu na Śląsku, które przekształcił w nowoczesne i dochodowe gospodarstwo rolne. Zatrudnił architekta w celu przebudowy nowo nabytego dworu oraz wystawienia nowych budynków folwarcznych. Wynajął też ogrodników, by założyć park krajobrazowy, ozdobiony malowniczymi chatami, szklarniami i pawilonem herbacianym. Po jego śmierci w 1815 roku dziedziczką dóbr została jego żona hrabina Fryderyka von Reden. Kontynuowała ona dzieło zainicjowane przez hrabiego niemal aż do swej śmierci w 1854 roku. Autorka artykułu usiłuje zrekonstruować proces przekształcania dawnego majątku w nowoczesną farmę ozdobną.

    Opis:
    Der Kampf um die Durchsetzung bestimmter Deutungsmuster im gesellschaftlichen Kollektivwissen erfolgt mittels Sprache, d.h. das kollektive Wissen und Gedächtnis, sowie bestimmte Bedeutungen werden u.a. sprachlich konstruiert. Insofern kann ein „Streit um Sache“ als ein „Streit um Worte“, also als ein semantischer Kampf (Felder, 2006, S. 1) betrachtet werden. In diesem Sinne wird Macht auch über Semantik ausgeübt. Das Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags ist die Analyse des Begriffs naród/Volk, seiner Bedeutungen und der daraus entstandenen Einzelnarration über das wahre Volk im politischen Diskurs polyphoner Ich-Erzähler. Das umfangreiche Analysekorpus umfasst 100 politische Wahlreden der polnischen und deutschen Rechtspopulisten.
    The struggle to establish certain patterns of interpretation in collective social knowledge is fought by means of semantics. Collective knowledge and at the same time certain meanings are linguistically constructed. In this respect, a “dispute about the matter” can be viewed as a “dispute about words”, that is, a semantic battle (Felder, 2006, p. 1). In this sense, power is exercised through semantics. The subject of this paper is the analysis of the right-wing patterns of interpretation in the political discourse of the 21st century, in fact polyphonic first-person narrators, an attempt at capturing its typical features and at reconstructing the right-wing political narrative on the nation/Volk promoted by politicians during their meetings with voters.

    Multisegmentale Kurzwörter (vor allem Buchstabenkurzwörter) sind unentbehrliche Bestandteile von öffentlichen Texten. Bezeichnungen von Parteien, Organisationen, Institutionen usw. erscheinen im Allgemeinen in der Kurzform. Aber nicht immer. Wodurch wird die Wahl zwischen Kurzform und Langform in Reden an die Öffentlichkeit, in Wortmeldungen im Parlament usw. beeinflusst? Ist das nur eine Frage der praktischen Kürze? Höchstwahrscheinlich nicht. Der Kurzwortgebrauch wird durch einen Komplex von mehreren Aspekten motiviert, von denen im Beitrag nur einer, die Sympathie, die Zuneigung (wie z. B. die politische Nähe) untersucht wird. Es wird versucht, auch der Frage nachzugehen, ob die diesbezüglichen Motive der Kurzwortverwendung sprachgebunden sind.
    Multisegmental short forms (especially acronyms) are indispensable components of public texts. Terms of parties, organisations, institutions etc. generally appear in abbreviated form. But not always. How is the choice between short form and long form influenced in speeches to the public, speeches in Parliament, etc.? Is this just a question of practical brevity? Most likely not. The use of short words is motivated by a complex of aspects, only one of which will be examined in the presentation: sympathy/affection (such as political closeness).

    Anhand einer Reihe von autobiographischen „Selfies“ wird ein Leben als eine Folge von aufgeschnappten Meinungen konfrontiert. Vor allem mit dem, was Gerd Antos in und mit der Linguistik im Laufe sejner Karriere dazugelernt hat. Linguistik sozusagen als ein lebenslanges learning by doing.
    Through a series of autobiographical snapshots the author confronts his life as a sequence of picked‑up views. The emphasis will be on the new things Gerd Antos learned with and within linguistics over the course of his career. Linguistics as a life‑long ‘learning by doing’ as it were.
