The present paper is an attempt to discuss the issue of terminology management as a part of the translator or LSP training process as well as methods for its implementation in the MA programme “Linguistics in Specialised Communication”. The paper outlines the curricular approach to the teaching of terminology management through the delivery of a theoretical and a practical module. The latter includes three elements: conventional terminology work, terminology management and the integration of term bases prepared or made available in the process of translation with the aid of the TMS and CAT tools. The practical work was based on small and medium-sized terminology projects carried out by university students.

Artykuł koncentruje się na analizie korzyści i zagrożeń związanych ze stosowaniem zasad scrum w środowisku pracy zdalnej. Postawiony problem badawczy odnosi się do oceny pracy zdalnej w projektach realizowanych przy wykorzystaniu metodyki scrum. W toku rozważań zdefiniowano cztery główne pytania badawcze, dotyczące wydajności pracy zdalnej w scrum, stopnia skomplikowania prowadzonych w ten sposób projektów oraz dostrzeganych przez respondentów korzyści i zagrożeń wynikających z realizacji projektów zgodnie z metodyką scrum w porównaniu z pracą zdalną. W badaniu posłużono się metodą ankietową i zastosowano technikę ankiety internetowej. Dobór respondentów do badań był celowy ze względu na ich miejsce zatrudnienia – branża IT. Praca zdalna przy realizacji projektów informatycznych niesie ze sobą według respondentów wymierne korzyści w postaci komunikacji asynchronicznej, lepszej wydajności oraz zwiększonej odpowiedzialności za wykonywaną pracę. Z kolei największe zagrożenie to liczba i długość spotkań.
in a remote work environment. The research problem concerns the assessment of remote work in projects conducted using the Scrum methodology. Four main research questions were asked regarding the effectiveness of remote work in Scrum, the complexity of projects conducted in this way, and the benefits and threats of implementing projects using the Scrum methodology and remote work noticed by the respondents. The survey method was chosen as the research method and the online survey technique was used. The selection of respondents for the research was purposeful due to their place of employment, i.e. the IT industry. According to the respondents, remote work while implementing IT projects brings the most important benefits in the form of asynchronous communication, better efficiency, and increased responsibility for the work performed. In turn, the greatest challenge is the number and length of meetings.

The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of selected IT tools supporting the management of a distributed IT team in companies from the IT sector. The research was carried out using two methods: scientific experiment (implementation of a test project in the tested tools) and comparative analysis (assessment of tools from the side of management and contractors of a distributed team according to the proposed criteria). The research results were aimed at choosing the best solutions that could be implemented to manage a distributed team in IT sector companies.
Artykuł przedstawia wyniki analizy porównawczej wybranych narzędzi informatycznych wspomagających zarządzanie rozproszonym zespołem informatyków w firmach z sektora IT. Badania przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem dwóch metod: eksperymentu naukowego (wykonanie testowego projektu w badanych narzędziach) i analizy porównawczej (ocena narzędzi od strony kierownictwa i wykonawców rozproszonego zespołu wg zaproponowanych kryteriów). Wyniki badań miały na celu wybór najlepszych rozwiązań, jakie mogłyby zostać wdrożone do zarządzania zespołem rozproszonym w firmach sektora IT.

Although one of the education’s major goals is to find efficient ways to integrate web-based technologies with the traditional teaching methods applied in teaching-learning process, little research has been made in this area. The article provides the study of the educational value of Web Quests in teaching foreign languages at universities, their role in fostering students’ basic competencies and enhancing their critical thinking. Presented is a Web Quest created by first-year students of Vinnytsia Institute of Economics of Ternopil National Economic University with its further detailed description. Provided are some results of the experiment, which prove the didactic efficiency of Web Quests, integrated with other teaching methods, for improving students’ autonomous learning skills.

Theoretical background: The growing importance of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the development of competences in selected areas of project management prompted the authors to conduct research on a group of 82 respondents working remotely on projects at the Project Management Institute Poland Chapter (PMI PC).Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to show the impact of remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of competences in selected areas of project management. The study is theoretical and empirical in nature. The theoretical part shows the factors influencing the development of competences and the conditions of remote work. In the empirical part of the survey, employees' opinions on the impact of remote (online) work during the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of competences in selected areas of project management were presented. Five areas of project management were analysed, including: working time, communication, labour costs, risk and conditions for teamwork.Research methods: Literature review and critical analysis of web research. Factor analysis was used for statistical analyses. To isolate the analysed factors, the principal components method was adopted, and the VARIMAX procedure was used as the rotation method.Main findings: The conclusions of the research confirm the hypothesis that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on remote work, in particular on employee competences, work time and costs, motivation, effective communication and mutual relations between employees. The results of the research broaden the knowledge on the impact of various factors on remote work and the development of competences in selected areas of project management.

It has become almost impossible to have engineering and construction projects completed within the initial time and cost; this is a result of many factors the industry is being plagued with ranging from estimating time and cost. This paper presents strategic methodology that fosters effective engineering and construction projects management with respect to duration/time - cost. The project success is a two-faced phenomenon. On the one hand, project success can be approached from a triangular point of view of project objectives. Performance, cost, time, quality, and safety of a given particular project should be in accordance with the strategic objectives of work logics and methodology at the workflow organization. The main objective of this research is to develop methodology that will help company or individual construction practitioners achieve profitable objectives in the execution of construction projects. For this reason, use of multiple methods of work organization and their competitive model involving several considerations of a wide range of factors, (besides profit maximization and competition) that affect the margin-size decision; use of qualitative and subjective appropriate work organization, to more realistically capture the decision-making process were suggested. The defined optimum construction project works duration should be made in view of all major influential factors as pointed out in this paper (determinate and indeterminate) resulting into deviation of the estimated time and budget cost. At the consideration of the factors the most likely project duration time and it corresponding cost should be regulated (controlled) and some part of the estimates should be saved in form of insurance, and consequently profitable project would be achieved despite the influences of all factors affecting the project.

Much research supports the everyday therapeutic and deeper socialneurophysiological influence of singing songs alone and in groups (Austin, 2008; Cozolino, 2013; Sacks, 2007). This study looks at what happens when Japanese students teach short English affirmation songlet-routines to others out of the classroom (clandestine folk music therapy). I investigate 155 student-conducted musical case studies from 7 semester-long classes (18 to 29 students per class) over a 4-year period. The assignments, their in-class training, and their results are introduced, with examples directly from their case studies. Each class published their own booklet of case studies (a class publication, available to readers online for research replication and modeling). Results show that most primary participants enjoyed spreading these positive songlets as they became “well-becoming agents of change” in their own social networks. “Well-becoming” emphasizes an agentive action or activity that creates better well-being in others, an action such as the sharing or teaching of a songlet. The qualitative data reveals a number of types of well-becoming such as social and familial bonding, meaning-making, teaching-rushes, and experiencing embodied cognition. The project also stimulated wider network dissemination of these well-becoming possibilities and pedagogical insights.

Screenplay is a multifunctional project written by screenwriter or screenwriters for preparing next phases of film production. Changing and many times transformed forms of screenplay belong to the nature of screenwriting. Literary vision of film changes several times being result of synergy and typical work in progress: from general idea and high concept, through story, treatment, scalette, first draft and certain number of drafts, to final draft, director’s draft and shooting script. Marek Hendrykowski’s study describes and explains these terms as forms of literary film creation in three complementary aspects: creative re-vision, rewriting and remodeling.

Opis:
Media literacy is one of the basic elements of a foreign language teacher’s workshop. Foreign language teaching recommends using media in the classroom not only because it facilitates learning and teaching, but also because it fosters learner autonomy, stimulates creativity and lowers the affective filter. Taking this into account, the authors consider how to develop the media competence of future teachers of English and German as foreign languages from both theoretical and practical perspectives. In the empirical part of the paper the authors present the aims, participants, stages and results of an e-tandem project that targeted a group of Polish and German students.

Many construction projects contain several identical or similar units, such as floors in multistory buildings, houses in housing developments, sections of pipelines or highways. Repetitive processes arise from the subdivision of a generalized construction process into specific activities associated with particular units. In many cases it is possible to perform individual processes (repeated in each units) in alternative ways (modes). Regardless of the construction project procurement system, duration and cost are the key factors determining project’s economic efficiency and fulfillment of the owner’s needs and requirements. Minimizing project duration and cost are the most important criteria for schedule optimization. Processes that repeat from unit to unit are realized by specialized crews. Uninterrupted resource utilization becomes an extremely important issue for scheduling repetitive processes to minimize employment costs. In this paper, the problem of selecting appropriate modes and minimizing the total project cost and with a constraint on project duration is presented with respect to the continuity of the crews’ work. The paper uses the mixed integer linear programming to model this problem and uses a case study to illustrate it.

W maju bieżącego roku polem ich poszukiwań stał się Lublin. W odpowiedzi na tę potrzebę zespół z Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II zorganizował czterodniowe spotkanie, podczas którego zagraniczni goście, studenci, doradcy metodyczni z Lublina, dyrektorzy różnych placówek edukacyjnych (państwowych i niepublicznych) oraz nauczyciele mieli okazję wymienić się doświadczeniami i efektami swoich działań w zakresie mentoringu.
Promentors is an international project. Its participants look for inspiration to improve the quality of teacher education based on the principles of the various mentoring models. In May this year, the field of their research became Lublin. In response to this need, a team from the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin organised a four-day meeting during which foreign guests, students, methodological advisors from Lublin, directors of various educational institutions (state and non-public) and teachers had the opportunity to exchange experiences and effects of their mentoring activities.

Projekt MATLAS PL0259, realizowany w ramach Mechanizmu Finansowego EOG/Norweskiego Mechanizmu Finansowego, w Obszarze Priorytetowym "Konserwacja Europejskiego Dziedzictwa Kultury", został z powodzeniem rozpoczęty w lipcu 2008 r. Naukowe cele projektu obejmują opracowanie metod diagnostyki powierzchni dzieł sztuki wykonanych z metali (stopów) w celu ich bezpiecznej renowacji laserowej, opracowanie systemu laserowego zdolnego do generacji impulsów o wymaganym w renowacji, kontrolowanym kształcie i czasie trwania oraz analizy zjawisk indukowanych przez impulsy laserowe na powierzchni obiektów historycznych. Artykuł przedstawia uczestniczące w projekcie ośrodki naukowe, projekt i wykonanie laserowego systemu czyszczącego oraz metodykę badań eksperymentalnych. Podsumowuje on również najnowsze wyniki projektu oraz przedstawia metalowe dzieła sztuki wybrane do badań, wraz z ich analizami historycznymi i strukturalnymi.
MATLAS project PL0259 successfully started in July 2008 under the EEA Financial Mechanism/ Norwegian Financial Mechanism and in the Key Priority Section "Conservation of European Cultural Heritage". The scientific aims of the project include: development of diagnostic methods for analysis of metal (alloy) artworks surfaces for safe laser renovation; development of a laser system capable of generating pulses with controlled shape and time duration required for renovation, and analysis of phenomena induced by laser pulses in the treated surfaces of historical objects. The paper presents participating scientific teams, design and realization of laser cleaning system and methodology of experimental investigations. It also summarizes the latest project results and presents metal artworks selected for examination with their historical and structural analysis.

The education towards the job of a social employee requires the learning of specific knowledge that ensures the interdisciplinary and versatile preparation of a future professional. In this aspect, social projects are of particular importance as due to their multitasking requirements they stimulate student activity, allow for the combination of knowledge with action and activate reflexive behaviour, which allows for the evaluation of the designed activities. The preparation and implementation of projects are related to the necessity to assume a number of roles, creating the opportunity to test oneself in new activities and to determine the degree of self-readiness to do/perform the job. The aim of the article is to highlight the educational values of designing and presenting the structure of social projects realized at the Social Work Unit at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Silesia. The text also points out the difficulties that occur during the specific stages of project work and provides tips in order to avoid such difficulties.
