    Dystrybutor filmowy jest bardzo ważną figurą w cyklu życia filmu. To on angażuje własne środki w rozpowszechnianie oraz promocję utworu i wraz z producentem podejmuje decyzję o tym, kiedy film ma trafić do kin, w jaki sposób będzie prowadzona kampania marketingowa, a także do kogo będzie adresowana. Jako że rynek dystrybucji kinowej w Polsce jest wciąż słabo rozpoznany przez badaczy akademickich, celem niniejszego artykułu jest uzupełnienie tej luki i przybliżenie czytelnikom specyfiki polskiej branży dystrybucji kinowej. Ponieważ wyniki przeprowadzonego przez autorki badania nad funkcjonowaniem rynku dystrybucji kinowej w Polsce w latach 2002-2018 dostarczają dowodów empirycznych na to, że polska branża filmowa pozostaje pod silnym wpływem dużych amerykańskich firm dystrybucyjnych, w artykule został opisany także wpływ współczesnej branży hollywoodzkiej na rodzimy przemysł filmowy.
    The film distributor is a very important figure in the life cycle of a film. It is the distributor who engages his own resources in the dissemination and promotion of the film and, together with the producer, decides when the film should hit the cinemas, how the marketing campaign will be conducted and who it will be addressed to. Since the cinema distribution market in Poland is still underexamined by academic researchers, the purpose of this article is to fill this gap and familiarize readers with the specifics of the Polish cinema distribution industry. Because the results of the research carried out by the authors on the functioning of the cinema distribution market in Poland in 2002-2018 provide empirical evidence that the Polish film industry is strongly influenced by large American distribution companies, the article also describes the impact of the modern Hollywood industry on the local film industry.

    The aim of the article is to present the contemporary Polish cinema as the integrated economic, cultural and legal system, to quote dispersed data and to present the data generated by the author, which is her own contribution into the development of the film science. Step by step, the author describes the process of achieving the results, problems with the methodology, the decisions about applying specified methods of calculating or presenting the data and the application of exceptions. The situation of the Polish cinema today is influenced and determined by the Law on Cinematography which was introduced in 2005. Its real effects were observed in 2007. The number of Polish feature films increased from 20-25 in2000-2005 to 40-55 in2007-2011.  The author cites the methodology keys to estimate the number of the feature films in the defined year.

    Recenzowaną książkę Michała Piepiórki Rockefellerowie i Marks nad Warszawą. Polskie filmy fabularne wobec transformacji gospodarczej (2019) autor uznaje za inspirującą i kompetentną próbę zbadania, jak rodzime kino fabularne (z lat 1989-2013) opowiadało o polskiej rzeczywistości po roku 1989, czyli po przełomie ustrojowym. Autor recenzji przedstawia założenia metodologiczne badacza, precyzuje jego zainteresowania tematyczne (skupione wokół kwestii gospodarczych), sugeruje też pewne uzupełnienia dotyczące bibliografii. Za jeden z największych atutów książki Piepiórki recenzent uznaje jego założenie, by właściwie całkowicie zrezygnować z estetycznego wartościowania dzieł filmowych na rzecz zdystansowanej interpretacji tych wszystkich tytułów, które wydają się istotne w kontekście przedsięwziętego działania badawczego.
    Michał Piepiórka’s book Rockefellerowie i Marks nad Warszawa. Polskie filmy fabularne wobec transformacji gospodarczej [The Rockefellers and Marx over Warsaw: Polish Feature Films Vis-a-vis the Economic Transformation] (2019) is reviewed as an inspiring and competent attempt to investigate how domestic feature movies (from the period of 1989 to 2013) reflected Polish reality after 1989 (i.e. the time of political transformation). The reviewer presents Piepiórka’s methodological premises, specifies his adequately restricted thematic interests (which revolve around economic issues) and offers some bibliographic suggestions. Piepiórka’s decision to abandon the aesthetic evaluation of the movies (in favour of a rigorous interpretation of all works that seem relevant for his research task) is considered as one of the most important merits of his book.

Książka Elementarz Wytwórni Filmów Oświatowych (2018) Michała Dondzika, Krzysztofa Jajki i Emila Sowińskiego, oparta na imponującym materiale dokumentarnym, uwzględnia tę perspektywę, ale stanowi również kolejną pozycję w katalogu filmoznawczych opracowań poświęconych Łodzi – najważniejszemu filmowemu miastu w Polsce. Kilkadziesiąt lat WFO to też kilkadziesiąt karier reżyserskich, eksperymentowanie z gatunkowymi wariantami filmu oświatowego, rywalizacja na zmieniającym się rynku usług audiowizualnych. To także postawione na końcu liczącej ponad 400 stron monografii pytanie: co dalej? Elementarz Wytwórni Filmów Oświatowych, pomimo że jest debiutem książkowym autorów, jest jedną z najważniejszych pozycji filmoznawczych wydanych w ostatnich miesiącach.
    The history of the Educational Film Studio is as old as the post-war history of Polish cinema. The book Elementarz Wytwórni Filmów Oświatowych [The Primer of the Educational Film Production Company] (2018) by Michał Dondzik, Krzysztof Jajko and Emil Sowiński, based on impressive documentary material, takes into account this perspective, but is also another item in the catalogue of film studies works devoted to Łódź – the most important film city in Poland. Several decades of the Educational Film Production Company’s existence also means dozens of directing careers, experimenting with genres of educational film, competition on the changing market of audiovisual services. This is also the question posed at the end of the more than 400 pages of the monograph – what next? The Primer of Educational Film Production Company, despite being the authors’ book debut, is one of the most important film studies published in recent months.
