Opis:
The scientific concept of human needs has an interdisciplinary nature and is associated with the standards of living and development, health and disease status, quality of life, and life satisfaction. Research results indicate that systematic physical activity at any ontogenesis period is of vital importance for optimal development and maintenance of physical efficiency, fitness, and health. Therefore, it has been assumed that physical activity is a health need of each man. The aim of the study is to find relationships between physical activity and health needs. The analysis was intended to reveal the importance, functions, and consequences of the impact of physical activity on the psychophysical condition of man based on examples from available literature. The relationships between physical activity and health needs have been presented from the perspective of public health and promotion targeted at improvement of public health in a way to ensure the best fulfilment of conscious and unconscious needs. According to WHO, health needs are disturbances in the health status or social well-being that require intervention measures such as treatment, rehabilitation, or social assistance as well as prevention measures. Systematic moderate physical activity is one of the most important factors with a beneficial effect on human physiological processes and improves the quality of life. The National Health Programme for 2016–2020 recommends increased physical activity among children, adolescents, and the elderly.

Opis:
The paper presents a view on aims of science based on the conviction that science, being essentially a human enterprise, should be grasped philosophically as grounded in an anthropological conception. Accordingly, aims of science are viewed here as being emerged from human needs. In particular, a special, superior role played by cognitive needs, and the problem of cognitive versus utilitarian aims are considered.

The paper includes a detailed water need forecasting analysis of fruit plants: apple trees, pear trees, cherry trees and plum trees, for the area of Poland with particular water deficits. The assessment was carried out for the multiannual period of 1989-2018, using three methods developed by Press, Grabarczyk and Rzekanowski, and Treder. The greatest water needs in the multiannual period (1989-2018) were demonstrated by apple and plum trees. The average water needs of apple trees in the multiannual period were 485 mm (Press method), 599 mm (Rzekanowski and Grabarczyk) and 558 mm (Treder), respectively. The average amount of water needs of plum trees was 506 mm (according to Press), 590 mm (Rzekanowski and Grabarczyk) and 548 mm (Treder). In practice, each of the methods presented should be used to forecast the water needs of fruit plants. This will minimise the risk of water shortages and will also enable determination of irrigation doses.

The paper presents a study performed in two universities in Poland and Romania. It aimed to identify learners’ needs and difficulties when learning ESP, and also what common needs students in the two universities have, in spite of the fact that they study different branches of ESP–English for Economics and Medical English, respectively. For this purpose, we designed a questionnaire containing 14 open and closed questions. The participants in the study were 100 students at the Koszalin University of Technology in Poland and 100 students from the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The results of the study showed that, in spite of their different fields of training, there were many similarities between the responses of the students, but also certain differences that derived mostly from the different background and specific language needs of learners. Therefore, we may conclude that university students who study sciences, in particular Business and Medicine, might have certain similar needs when learning Professional English. Moreover, being aware of the students’ needs and difficulties, as revealed in the present study, might help their teachers to adjust the sy

CONFLICT
INTERESTS
NEEDS
VALUES
Opis:
Currently, the issue of conflict is having a great impact on social sciences. This is disclosed in research and publications. In management theory, conflict means a dispute over deficient resources or inconsistency of objectives and values. At the same time, controlling diversity and transforming conflict into cooperation are the main basis of management that helps various organizations survive and develop. Conflicts that make their appearance in the healthcare services are encoded in the scenery of contradictory interests. However, in light of process of the aging of society and problems of healthcare service financing, it should be emphasized that their significance and intensification is increasing. Research on organizations indicates four fields of conflicts-interpersonal, intergroup, inter-organizational, and conflict-tender. A typology of conflicts existing in healthcare service institutions, their roots, consequences, dynamics, and management styles are introduced in this paper. System conditions, large numbers of stakeholders, complexity of structures, relationships in healthcare service organizations, and a severe shortage of resources affect both potential and revealed conflicts in the National Health Service. This is why they are so frequent, complex, sensitive, and difficult to solve.
Z kolei panowanie nad różnorodnością i przekształcenie potencjalnego konfliktu we współpracę stanowią istotę zarządzania, pozwalającą różnym organizacjom przetrwać i rozwijać się.

The objective of the research was testing the effect of the level of concentration of health needs in the countries of the, so called, New European Union in terms of income and education on the level of health inequality. When planning the study, the following research hypothesis was put forward: H1: there is a relation between meeting the self-reported health needs and the level of education or income of populations of New UE countries. The formulated hypothesis was explicitly confirmed during the analysis of the concentration of the three traits of health care accessibility, which showed that the highest level of concentration indicating a conscious need for taking advantage of specialist medical examinations necessary for the improvement of health was observed in social groups with high education (ED5_8) and income (Q80_100), Q60_80).

Executive functions in older adults of various level of educational needs In old age the decrease of cognitive performance connected with natural ageing processes is observed. The deterioration primarily affects memory and attention functions (Jagodzińska, 2008; Oberauer, 2006). It was indicated that the level of cognitive competences is strongly connected with learning (Brooks, Weaver, Scialfa, 2006). People in old age who are more intellectually active have less problems in cognitive functioning (Jagodzińska, 2008). The article presents results of studies conducted to verify hypothesis concerning the relation between the level of educational needs and efficiency of their executive functions. 25 people, aged 71-88, participated in the study. Educational needs and four aspects of executive functions: plasticity, inhibition, working memory and planning were measured. Results confirms the relationship between educational needs of seniors and two aspects of executive functions: plasticity and working memory, while the most significant relations concerns plasticity.

In this text, I argue that sociology can only really understand the social impact of marketing by theorizing it as a powerful system of practices legitimized by a comprehensive cultural concept. In the first section, I discuss the specific time and place of the birth of marketing. In the second part, I discuss the essence of that truly Copernican revolution (Keith 1960). In the third section, I present the ‘need-related’ industry that emerged in the frame of the founding idea. Finally, I discuss a basic marketing tool: segmentation. Selecting the target group for a branded offer is one of the key marketing commandments and reaching that group is the key marketing task. Hence, marketing engages in (re) creating and bringing to light target groups, which it then supports, talks with, and listens to. This means that marketing has taken the role of advocating and mediating groups’ existence (Latour 2005), engaging in this task over one trillion US dollars annually.

The scope and nature of the proposed course content is tailored to the specific needs of a student. The analysis of these needs is based on interviews and questionnaires. There are many examples of such tools, but none of them are universal or exhaustive, nor can they be. The purpose of this article is to propose a set of parameters to facilitate investigation of the educational context, which could be a starting point for the development of questionnaires tailored to specific education needs.

The study investigates the relationship between English Philology students’ motivation for studying Business English and their actual knowledge of business terminology, some underlying economic concepts and basic rules of business correspondence. It is hypothesized that students who have higher motivation also possess more extensive knowledge of Business English, yet motivation alone is not enough but must be accompanied by a real effort put in studying the language. The study consisted of a test focusing on business terminology, the correction of errors in a business letter, and a test of selected economic concepts, followed by a questionnaire. As the results show, both the students’ motivation and knowledge of Business English are varied. In particular, their knowledge varies between years of studies and areas of terminology or skills. In fact, some of the terms proved difficult even for relatively advanced students. Thus, even though motivation does play a role, its role does not seem to be decisive, as Business English is a complex field whose mastery requires extensive study and a lot of sustained effort. However, their awareness of their language needs is quite high, so they are likely to remain motivated and to attain a high level of competence in Business English.

A growing number of arts therapists around the world work in schools, but information on their practices is limited. The aim of this work is to examine the theoretical influences and therapeutic trends prevalent in Czech educational institutions. Data obtained from 142 respondents were collected using the “Practice of Arts Therapies” questionnaire. Based on a statistical analysis of the responses, the results show that therapists prefer predominantly humanistic trends with a wide range of other therapeutic influences based on assimilative integration tendencies. Contrary to the initial assumptions, it was found that there is little difference in the preferences for trends in different work environments. The results can be used for international comparisons of arts therapies in the educational environment, as they seem to be an important area of interdisciplinary practice associated with education.

Social security is an element of the broadly understood state security system. A centralized approach to managing social needs does not take into account the local and regional differentiation of a population’s preferences, and, as a result, does not allocate resources in an optimal fashion. Decentralisation contributes to improving efficiency by way of more effective adaptation of public services to social needs, which is achieved by gaining a wider and deeper knowledge about the needs of local communities. Greater power of local authority bodies inspires innovative solutions and stimulates activity and competition between territorial units. It contributes to the rational allocation of resources at the disposal of local authorities, which leads to the conclusion that they are dominant with regard to exercising the social function of the state.
