Opis:
W artykule dokonano analizy porównawczej metod stosowanych w rozwiązywaniu konfliktów wiedzy w odniesieniu do wieloagentowych systemów wspomagania decyzji.

Decision Support Systems are powerful tools to help support making decisions. However, they are known to be customized for a specific purpose and can rarely be reused. Moreover, they do not support complex situations sufficiently. Our work addresses this challenge and consists in building a DSS that aims to help emergency managers to manage cases of crisis. The DSS is designed to be flexible and adaptive, so that it may be applied on different subjects of studies and whose behaviour may change with the change of its environment. We endowed it therefore with a multiagent layered core whose role is to represent dynamically and in real time the current situation, to characterize it and to compare it with past known scenarios. The final result of the DSS will help decision-makers to analyze the current crisis and its possible evolution. The RoboCupRescue simulation system is chosen as a test bed to illustrate and to test this approach.

In this paper, we study a consensus problem in multi-agent systems, where the entire system is decentralized in the sense that each agent can only obtain information (states or outputs) from its neighbor agents. The existing design methods found in the literature are mostly based on a graph Laplacian of the graph which describes the interconnection structure among the agents, and such methods cannot deal with complicated control specification. For this purpose, we propose to reduce the consensus problem at hand to the solving of a strict matrix inequality with respect to a Lyapunov matrix and a controller gain matrix, and we propose two algorithms for solving the matrix inequality. It turns out that this method includes the existing Laplacian based method as a special case and can deal with various additional control requirements such as the convergence rate and actuator constraints.

Opis:
The article presents a proposition of a universal model of knowledge conflict resolving using consensus methods, which can be used in a multi-agent decision support system. Knowledge conflicts often appear, when individual agents generate different solutions of the same problem. It is very difficult for the user – decision-maker to make a good decision because the analysis of solutions generated by agents is very time-consuming and the decision must be made quickly. Moreover, selecting one of the decisions on the basis of the experience of the decision-maker is very risky, because he/she could choose the worst solution. Consensus methods, however, allow to agree, on the basis of the solutions generated by agents, one solution, which is a compromise. As a consequence, reducing the time and decreasing the risk level of the decision taking process, to enable the functioning of the enterprise in more flexible.

Opis:
Maritime shipping is a set of complex activities with a large number of actors involved. We focus on a subset of illegal maritime activities, such as armed robberies, maritime piracy or contraband smuggling. To fight against them and minimize their negative impact naval authorities typically introduce a number of countermeasures, such as deployed patrols or surveillance agents. Due to very high costs of countermeasures it is often beneficial to evaluate their impact using a simulation, allowing what-if analysis and evaluation of a range of scenarios before actually deploying the countermeasures. We introduce BANDIT, an agent-based computational platform, which is designed to evaluate scenarios with an accent on the modeling of different types of illegal behavior and on the interaction between agents. The platform consists of an agent behavior modeling system and a multi-agent maritime simulator. The platform allows the definition of a number of scenarios through a simple configuration and it offers the means to run these scenarios in a single or a batch mode and evaluate the results as single or aggregate data sets respectively. We demonstrate the usefulness of the platform on the scenarios of the drug smuggling problem in the seas surrounding Central America. Senario outcomes (e.g., heatmaps of activities, set of trajectories etc.) are subsequently used to help with the design of effective countermeasures, i.e., allocating naval patrols and planning their patrol routes.

Combining data from diverse, heterogeneous sources while facilitating a unified access to it is an important (albeit difficult) task. There are various possibilities of performing it. In this publication, we propose and describe an agent-based framework dedicated to acquiring and processing distributed, heterogeneous data collected from diverse sources (e.g., the Internet, external software, relational, and document databases). Using this multi-agent-based approach in the aspects of the general architecture (the organization and management of the framework), we create a proof-of-concept implementation. The approach is presented using a sample scenario in which the system is used to search for personal and professional profiles of scientists.

Cities are increasingly recognized for their ability to play a catalytic role in addressing climate and energy challenges using technologically innovative approaches. Since energy used in urban areas accounts for about 40% of total EU energy consumption, a change of direction towards renewable energy is necessary in order to alleviate the usage of carbonized electricity and also to save money. A combination of IT and telecommunication technologies is necessary to enable the energy and resources saving. ICT based solutions can be used to enable energy and money saving not only for a single building, but for the whole community of a neighborhood. In this paper a model for the energy cost minimization of a neighborhood together with an agent-based interaction model that reproduces the proposed formal representation is presented. Furthermore the authors present a prototype implementation of this model and first experimental tests.

Opis:
The paper introduces a stochastic model for a class of population-based global optimization meta-heuristics, that generalizes existing models in the following ways. First of all, an individual becomes an active software agent characterized by the constant genotype and the meme that may change during the optimization process. Second, the model embraces the asynchronous processing of agent’s actions. Third, we consider a vast variety of possible actions that include the conventional mixing operations (e.g. mutation, cloning, crossover) as well as migrations among demes and local optimization methods. Despite the fact that the model fits many popular algorithms and strategies (e.g. genetic algorithms with tournament selection) it is mainly devoted to study memetic algorithms. The model is composed of two parts: EMAS architecture (data structures and management strategies) allowing to define the space of states and the framework for stochastic agent actions and the stationary Markov chain described in terms of this architecture. The probability transition function has been obtained and the Markov kernels for sample actions have been computed. The obtained theoretical results are helpful for studying metaheuristics conforming to the EMAS architecture. The designed synchronization allows the safe, coarse-grained parallel implementation and its effective, sub-optimal scheduling in a distributed computer environment. The proved strong ergodicity of the finite state Markov chain results in the asymptotic stochastic guarantee of success, which in turn imposes the liveness of a studied metaheuristic. The Markov chain delivers the sampling measure at an arbitrary step of computations, which allows further asymptotic studies, e.g. on various kinds of the stochastic convergence.

In this paper cluster consensus is investigated for general fractional-order multi agent systems with nonlinear dynamics via adaptive sliding mode controller. First, cluster consensus for fractional-order nonlinear multi agent systems with general form is investigated. Then, cluster consensus for the fractional-order nonlinear multi agent systems with first-order and general form dynamics is investigated by using adaptive sliding mode controller. Sufficient conditions for achieving cluster consensus for general fractional-order nonlinear multi agent systems are proved based on algebraic graph theory, Lyapunov stability theorem and Mittag-Leffler function. Finally, simulation examples are presented for first-order and general form multi agent systems, i.e. a single-link flexible joint manipulator which demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed adaptive controller.

The current concept of air traffic control based on human work was created many years ago and is now approaching the limit of its performance. Therefore, new concepts for air traffic control are being sought. One of the ideas is to delegate the responsibility for ensuring separation between aircraft to aircraft crews. The issue of self-separation is quite a difficult task. Analysis of the literature concludes that the transition from one phase to another will occur in stages. This paper focuses on the transition period. The concept of a method of ensuring separation when changing traffic organization was proposed. A vital element of the separation method in the transition period is to define the negotiation and communication process between aircraft, which was presented in this paper.

Opis:
The research, presented in this paper, concernes the controllability of a multi-agent network with a directed, unweighted, cooperative, and time-invariant communication topology. The network’s agents follow linear and heterogeneous dynamics, encompassing first-order, second-order, and third-order differential equations over continuous time. Two classes of neighbour-based linear distributed control protocols are considered: the first one utilises average feedback from relative velocities/relative accelerations, and the second one utilises feedback from absolute velocities/absolute accelerations. Under both protocols, the network’s agents achieve consensus in their states asymptotically. We observe that both of the considered dynamical rules exploit the random-walk normalised Laplacian matrix of the network’s graph. By categorising the agents of the network into leaders and followers, with leaders serving as exogenous control inputs, we analyse the controllability of followers within their state space through the influence of leaders. Specifically, matrix-rank conditions are established to evaluate the leader– follower controllability of the network under both control protocols. These matrix-rank conditions are further refined in terms of the system matrices’ eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The inference diagrams presented in this work provide deeper insights into how leader– follower interactions impact the network controllability. The efficacy of the theoretical findings is validated through numerical examples.
