Opis:
We consider the skew product transformation T(x,y)= (f(x), $T_{e(x)}$) where f is an endomorphism of a Lebesgue space (X,A,p), e : X → S and ${T_s}_{s \in S}$ is a family of Lasota-Yorke type maps of the unit interval into itself. We obtain conditions under which the ergodic properties of f imply the same properties for T. Consequently, we get the asymptotical stability of random perturbations of a single Lasota-Yorke type map. We apply this to some probabilistic model of the motion of cogged bits in the rotary drilling of hard rock with high rotational speed.

We study Brownian zeroes in the neighborhood of which one can observe a non-typical growth rate of Brownian excursions. We interpret the multifractal curve for the Brownian zeroes calculated in [6] as the Hausdorff dimension of certain sets. This provides an example of the multifractal analysis of a statistically self-similar random fractal when both the spacing and the size of the corresponding nested sets are random.

Opis:
Necessary and sufficient conditions are found for the exponential Orlicz norm (generated by $ψ_p(x) = exp(|x|^p)-1$ with 0 < p ≤ 2) of $max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|$ or $|B_τ|$ to be finite, where $B = (B_t)_{t≥0}$ is a standard Brownian motion and τ is a stopping time for B. The conditions are in terms of the moments of the stopping time τ. For instance, we find that $∥max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|∥_{ψ_1} < ∞$ as soon as $E(τ^{k}) = O(C^{k}k^{k})$ for some constant C > 0 as k → ∞ (or equivalently $∥τ∥_{ψ_1} < ∞$). In particular, if τ ∼ Exp(λ) or $|N(0,σ^2)|$ then the last condition is satisfied, and we obtain $∥max_{0≤t≤τ}|B_t|∥_{ψ_1} ≤ K √{E(τ)}$ with some universal constant K > 0. Moreover, this inequality remains valid for any class of stopping times τ for B satisfying $E(τ^{k}) ≤ C(Eτ)^{k}k^{k}$ for all k ≥ 1 with some fixed constant C > 0. The method of proof relies upon Taylor expansion, Burkholder-Gundy's inequality, best constants in Doob's maximal inequality, Davis' best constants in the $L^p$-inequalities for stopped Brownian motion, and estimates of the smallest and largest positive zero of Hermite polynomials. The results extend to the case of any continuous local martingale (by applying the time change method of Dubins and Schwarz).

In this paper we present a result on convergence of approximate solutions of stochastic differential equations involving integrals with respect to α-stable Lévy motion. We prove an appropriate weak limit theorem, which does not follow from known results on stability properties of stochastic differential equations driven by semimartingales. It assures convergence in law in the Skorokhod topology of sequences of approximate solutions and justifies discrete time schemes applied in computer simulations. An example is included in order to demonstrate that stochastic differential equations with jumps are of interest in constructions of models for various problems arising in science and engineering, often providing better description of real life phenomena than their Gaussian counterparts. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of our approach, we present computer simulations of a continuous time α-stable model of cumulative gain in the Duffie-Harrison option pricing framework.

[17]) is formulated in a pure stress language similar to that of [12]. In particular, it is shown how $\underline{u}$ and $\underline{φ}$ can be recovered from a solution of the associated pure stress initial-boundary value problem, and how a singular solution corresponding to harmonic vibrations of a concentrated body couple in an infinite space can be obtained from the solution of a pure stress problem.

We present a method of numerical approximation for stochastic integrals involving α-stable Lévy motion as an integrator. Constructions of approximate sums are based on the Poissonian series representation of such random measures. Let E be a real, separable Banach space and denote by $L^0(Ω,E)$ the space of all E-valued random vectors defined on the probability space Ω. The following result is proved. There exists an extension ${\widetilde Ω}$ of Ω, and a filtration $({\widetilde ℱ}_t)_{t≥0}$ on ${\widetilde Ω}$, such that for every $X ∈ L^0(Ω,E)$ there is an E-valued, continuous $({\widetilde ℱ}_t)$-martingale $(M_t(X))_{t≥0}$ in which X is embedded in the sense that $X = M_τ(X)$ a.s. for an a.s. finite stopping time τ. For E = ℝ this gives a Skorokhod embedding for all $X ∈ L^0(Ω,ℝ)$, and for general E this leads to a representation of random vectors as stochastic integrals relative to a Brownian motion.

Opis:
Multi-robot systems have substantially increased capabilities over single-robot systems and can handle very large or peculiar objects. This paper presents a differential (incremental) motion planning algorithm for an m-robot system (m >or=2) to cooperatively transfer an object from an initial to a desired final position / orientation by rigidly holding it at given respective points Q[sub 1], Q[sub 2],..., Q[sub m]. One of the robots plays the role of a "master" while other robots operate in the "slave" mode maintaining invariant their relative positions and orientations during the system motion. The method employs the differential displacements of the end-effector of each robot arm. Then, the differential displacements of the joints of the m robots are computed for the application of incremental motion control. The algorithm was tested on many examples. A representative of them is shown here, concerning the case of three STAUBLI RX-90L robots similar to 6-dof PUMA robots. The results obtained show the practicality and effectiveness of the method, which, however, needs particular care for completely eliminating the cumulative errors that may occur.

The effect of wind influence upon swellings in river estuaries has been presented in this elaboration. The wind, which causes shear stresses at the water surface, changes the vertical profile of water flow velocity and therefore is a factor causing wind swell-ings. This problem is very important in the estuarial river sections, especialIy in river inflows to reservoirs (sea), when natural slopes of flowing water are smalI and com-ponents of gravity farce are not able to oppose the wind effect. Then wind backwater occurs.
