Opis:
Using kinetic Monte Carlo method we simulate the dynamics of biatomic $Au_{0.3}Ni_{0.7}$ surface alloy separation on Ni(111) due to $Ni(CO)_4$ out-reaction. The experiment of Vestergaard et al. is modeled by counterbalancing dynamical processes and interactions between reactants. The simulations demonstrate step flow rate increase with CO coverage, $c_{CO},$ in qualitative agreement with the experiment only for $c_{CO}$ ≲ 0.45 monolayer. Moreover, we demonstrate both CO influence on reaction process and Au domain formation.

Opis:
As one of the most promising 3rd generation advanced high strength steels (AHSS), medium Mn steels attract much attention because of their exceptional mechanical property and reasonable cost. However, their application in the modern automotive industry is limited by poor weldability. In this study, 7Mn steel was welded by resistance spot welding (RSW), which was followed by high-temperature annealing to increase the cross-tension property. With this effort, enhanced cross-tension strength (CTS) with a partial interfacial fracture (PIF) mode was realized. During the annealing after RSW that produced martensite, austenitization was realized and then evolved into martensite by the following air cooling. This process produced structure homogeneity across the joint. With respect to the RSW joint, martensite remained the dominant structure after annealing while the diffusion of C and Mn solutes was triggered. With the increase of annealing temperature, the diffusion was enhanced, and the grain boundary embrittlement was reduced, leading to higher CTS.

Opis:
Studies on Baltic nodules have been undertaken since the1920s. In the 1970sand 1980s, the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute conducted researches on the bottom sediments of the Baltic Sea, which allowed identifying the regions of occurrence of Fe-Mn nodules in the southern part of the Baltic Sea (Mojski, 1989-1994). Nodules from the Polish Baltic Sea Zone are the least studied element of the marine environment. So far, there is a lack of information on environmental-geological conditions of formation and occurrence of nodules, their metal resources and deposit potential. The Fe-Mn nodules may be a valuable source of information on the contamination of the Baltic Sea water and bottom sediments. In cooperation between the Institute of Oceanography of the University ofGdañsk and the Polish Geological Institute-NRI, two research cruises were carried out in August and September 2020 on a 5 X 5 km testing ground in the Gotland-Gdańsk Threshold region. The seabed surface was profiled using multibeam echo sounders and a side-scan sonar. A hundred samples of Fe-Mn nodules, 25 samples of surface sediments associated with the nodules, and25 samples of clay rocks underlain by marine sediments were collected. The extensive documentary material will enable, for the first time, to estimate the nodule resources and determine the regularity of their occurrence.

Opis:
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) can be dangerous due to their genotoxic properties and the formation of DNA adducts in the target organs. The increasing number of environmental pollutants containing polycyclic aromatic compounds requires the use of inexpensive and relatively quick assays enabling evaluation of potential genotoxicity of chemicals. Therefore, the in vitro micronucleus assay (MN) has been developed as a rapid screening test based on measuring and counting the micronuclei in various cells subjected to the examined compound. Combined with the cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) technique and the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assay, it also enables classification of compound mutagenic activity into aneugenic or clastogenic categories, the identification of the mechanism of MNi formation and the estimation of malsegregations of chromosomes amongst the two nuclei in binucleated cells. The combination of these different approaches is very useful in performing risk assessments of PAH with threshold types of dose responses.

Opis:
The subjects of investigation are thin semiconductor $SnO_{x}$ films received by thermal oxidation. The influence of gas environments on electrical conductivity of films were investigated by a static way by measurement of kinetic and equilibrium isotherm of adsorption of trimethylamine, alcohol, hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. The communication between a type isotherm of adsorption, chemical nature of gas and temperature is shown.

We have fabricated superconducting 6 and 7 filaments $MgB_2//Fe//Cu$ tapes by ex situ powder-in-tube method using Cu-sheath without any intermediate annealing. Properties of two different multicore $MgB_2//Fe//Cu$ tapes annealed at 900C for 2 h in high purity argon gas atmosphere were compared. The samples were characterized using scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, electron dispersive spectroscopy, optical microscopy, critical transition temperature, transport critical current density, and magnetic measurements. Transport critical current densities of the 6 and 7 filaments tapes were found to be 450 A/cm^2 and 190 A/cm^2 at 20 K, respectively. From X-ray diffraction measurements, lattice parameters a and c were determined. From dc resistivity measurements, the connectivity between grains was investigated by using Rowell's connectivity analysis.

Opis:
This work describes the design of bi-functional α-Fe2O3/Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ using a two-step coating process. We propose a combination of pigments (α-Fe2O3) and phosphor (Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ ) glaze which is assembled using a layer-by-layer method. A silica-coated α-Fe2O3 pigment was obtained by a sol-gel method and a Zn2+ precursor was then added to the silica-coated α-Fe2O3 to create a ZnO layer. Finally, the Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ layer was prepared with the addition of Mn2+ ions to serve as a phosphor precursor in the multi-coated α-Fe2O3, followed by annealing at a temperature above 1000°C. Details of the phase structure, color and optical properties of the multi-functional α-Fe2O3/Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses.

The strong coupling or Eliashberg equations of superconductivity have been generalised to describe strongly correlated systems. Calculations show that d-wave superconductivity is stable for small hole doping. It also follows that in correlated systems one should define three different Eliashberg functions and corresponding electron- phonon coupling constants λ$\text{}_{N}$, λ$\text{}_{S}$ and λ$\text{}_{tr}$ (to describe normal (N), superconducting (S) and transport (tr) properties) each of which is measured in different kind of experiment.

Recent scanning tunneling microscopy measurements which indicate the formation of two-dimensional density modulations at some doping levels in cuprates were reviewed. A model of hard-core bosons which represent bound hole pairs in the two-dimensional doped antiferromagnet was discussed in the context of these experimental results. By means of an exact numerical diagonalization it was shown that the Coulomb repulsion between bosons brings about the formation of charge modulations.

The mechanism of pairing-symmetry selection in the weakly electron doped t-J model on the honeycomb lattice has been analyzed. The discussion of that problem has been motivated by some recent suggestions that due to charge ordering which may take place in the unconventional superconductor Na$\text{}_{x}$CoO$\text{}_{2}$· yH$\text{}_{2}$O at doping levels near x=1/3 the physics of CoO$\text{}_{2}$ planes may be effectively described in terms of a model for a weakly electron doped antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice. In the current publication the main emphasis has been put on reviewing experimental and theoretical work, the results of which support the scenario of charge order. In the calculation, the so-called string picture has been used. It has been demonstrated that spin fluctuations may induce in the honeycomb lattice the formation of an unconventional two-particle bound state. Upon the condensation of bound particles this mechanism may give rise to unconventional pairing. The critical value of the ratio J/t which is sufficient to induce binding has not been evaluated. It has been assumed instead that in the case of cobaltates some additional isotropic attractive interaction, for example phonon mediated, is active. Despite that the exchange of spin fluctuations is not a dominating interaction, it selects the symmetry of the paired state because it is anisotropic. C$\text{}_{3v}$ is the relevant point group for the t-J model on the honeycomb lattice. It has been shown that the bound state of two additional electrons doped to the half-filled antiferromagnetically ordered system has zero total momentum and p-wave symmetry of the irreducible representation E. The expected paired state is a mixture of a singlet and a triplet because the honeycomb lattice does not possess the inversion symmetry.

The mechanism of superconductivity generation by spin fluctuations in the electron doped canted antiferromagnet on the triangular lattice was analyzed. The underlying assumption is that the formation of the bound state is the prerequisite of pairing. The outcome of this analysis is also valid if an additional isotropic attraction is active but the anisotropic spin-fluctuation mediated force decides on the symmetry of the two-particle bound state. When the canted antiferromagnetic state is generated, the symmetry of the point group $C_{6v}$ for the triangular lattice is lowered to the symmetry of $C_{3v}$. It is demonstrated that spin fluctuations definitely favor the p-wave bound state, which transforms according to the E representation of $C_{3v}$. Since the inversion is not an element of $C_{3v}$, the parity is not a good quantum number and thus the predicted paired state will be a mixture of singlet and triplet. Such a scenario may be relevant to physics of superconducting triangular cobaltates or organics.

We argue that three gaps observed in underdoped cuprates can be attributed to the formation of antiferromagnetic spin polarons and bipolarons. Within the spin polaron scenario the antinodal pseudogap at he high energy scale originates from the change of the Fermi surface topology, induced by antiferromagnetic correlations. That change gives rise to the diminishing of the spectral weight at the antinodal region near the Brillouin zone boundary. We demonstrate that effect by analyzing effective models of doped antiferromagnets. The second type of pseudogap appearing at the intermediate energy scale originates from the phenomena which are precursory to superconductivity and predominantly concern the portion of the Fermi surface near the nodal region. In order to analyze the latter phenomenon we use the negative U Hubbard model, in which many details typical to spin polaron physics are neglected, but which contains the essential ingredient of it, that is the strong short range attraction. The lowest energy scale is related to the true superconducting gap which develops with doping, although both types of pseudogap diminish with doping. This behavior can be explained by the fact that the spin polaron band is empty in the undoped system and therefore the formation of the superconducting state in the system is forbidden. Due to a pedagogical character of this report, we present in the introduction a short overview of mostly recent experimental results which are related to the gap-pseudogap physics.

In this paper we focus on the anomalous temperature dependence of the in-plane conductivity and symmetry mixing of the superconducting order parameter observed in various experiments on cuprates. We show that the one-band Hubbard model is not capable of describing the physics of cuprates because the kinetic energy is lowered in this model in the superconducting state, which contradicts experimental observations. The proper model to investigate doped, short-range antiferromagnets is the t-J model, for which our results agree with experiments. We analyze a spin polaron model, that is an effective model for a doped antiferromagnet. In the framework of this model we also study the superconducting order-parameter symmetry-mixing phenomenon. We show that the expected mixing of d-wave symmetry with p-wave symmetry takes place in the superconducting order-parameter at a finite value of the doping parameter. This symmetry mixing brakes the time-reversal symmetry.

Opis:
Two modes of electron gas injection in resonant tunnelling through GaAs/AlGaAs double-barrier heterostructures were revealed while studying their current-voltage characteristics. Examining peculiarities of the characteristics within the temperature range 4-350 K and under a high magnetic field, we were able to distinguish the contribution to resonant tunnelling of ballistic electrons injected from a three-dimensional electron gas in the emitter contact and that of electrons injected from a two-dimensional electron gas in the accumulation layer formed near the emitter barrier.

The Church constantly responds to the call to evangelize as it is aware of its missionary duty. Theological reflection on the mission of the Church was the main topic of the encyclical of John Paul II Redemptoris missio. This article attempts to examine the extent to which this papal teaching is undertaken in the preaching of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The author points to the thematic areas of the encyclical that the Oblates refer to in their preaching, and presents issues that are missing in the published texts of the sermons.
Kościół nieustannie odpowiada na wezwanie do ewangelizacji, ponieważ jest świadom obowiązku misyjnego. Teologicznej refleksji dotyczącej misji Kościoła została poświęcona encyklika Jana Pawła II pt. Redemptoris missio. W niniejszym artykule została podjęta próba zbadania, w jakim zakresie to papieskie nauczanie jest podejmowane w kaznodziejstwie misjonarzy oblatów Maryi Niepokalanej. Autor wskazuje na obszary tematyczne encykliki, do których nawiązują w swoim przepowiadaniu oblaci, i prezentuje zagadnienia, których wyraźnie brakuje w publikowanych tekstach kazań.
