При переводе художественных произведений с одного языка на другой нередко перед переводчиком возникает ряд трудностей. Это связано, прежде всего, с различиями менталитета наций.  Особая область национального менталитета – это представления о трапезе, застольях, составляющих одну из центральных сфер жизни человека. Понимание своеобразия этих процессов является непростой задачей для переводчиков, носителей иной культуры. Сравнивая русскую, греческую и французскую традиции застолья, мы обнаруживаем множество несовпадающих элементов как в последовательности поступления блюд на стол, так и в составе блюд, в наборах посуды и сервировке стола и т.п. Именно об этих фрагментах текста, часто вызывающих вопросы у переводчиков, и пойдет речь в данной статье.
Przekładając literaturę piękną z jednego języka na drugi, tłumacz często napotyka na trudności. Wynika to przede wszystkim z różnic w mentalności narodów.  Szczególnym obszarem mentalności narodowej jest pojęcie posiłku, biesiadowania, które jest jedną z centralnych sfer życia człowieka. Zrozumienie specyfiki tych procesów nie jest łatwym zadaniem dla tłumaczy, nosicieli innej kultury. Porównując rosyjskie, greckie i francuskie tradycje biesiadne, znajdujemy wiele elementów dysonansowych zarówno w kolejności potraw na stole, jak i w kompozycji dań, w zestawach naczyń, podawaniu do stołu itp. Właśnie o tych fragmentach tekstu, które często budzą wątpliwości tłumaczy, będzie mowa w niniejszym artykule.
When translating novels from one language into another, a translator faces a number of difficulties. This is primarily due to the differences in the mentality of nations. A special area of the national mentality is the idea of a meal, feasts, which are some of the central spheres of human life. Understanding of the identity of these processes is not an easy task for translators from a different cultural background. Comparing the Russian, Greek and French traditions of the meal, we find many divergent elements in the sequence of the arrival of dishes on the table, in the composition of dishes, in the sets of dishes and table setting, etc. This article considers these fragments of text, which often cause difficulties for translators.

The aim of the article is the forgotten dispute regarding the world-view value of Thomism, taking place in the early 1960s in the Polish Catholic press. I attempt to present and evaluate the theses and arguments of both sides (critics as well as advocates of Thomism). My claim is that the dispute anticipated the loud discussion with Thomism initiated by J. Tischner in the 1970s and designated the areas of confrontation, as well as, the content and the character of the arguments for and against Thomism.
Przedmiotem artykułu jest zapomniany spór na temat światopoglądowej wartości tomizmu, toczący się na początku lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku w polskiej prasie katolickiej. Próbuję przedstawić tezy i argumenty obu stron oraz dokonać ich oceny. Twierdzę, że spór ten antycypował głośną dyskusję z tomizmem, podjętą przez J. Tischnera w latach siedemdziesiątych – wyznaczył obszary tej konfrontacji oraz treść i charakter argumentacji za i przeciw.

Polska gospodarka rozwija się w zadawalającym tempie, a perspektywy na przyszłość są nad wyraz optymistyczne co w połączeniu z niezaspokojonymi potrzebami mieszkaniowymi i sprzyjającą koniunkturą doprowadziło w szybkim tempie do wzrostu popytu w segmencie rynku nieruchomości i tendencji wzrostowej ich cen. Historia jak i teraźniejszość ukazują przed wyborem jakże trudnych decyzji w zmiennej i skomplikowanej rzeczywistości stają konsumenci, którzy ignorując przeszłość oraz lekceważąc przyszłość pod wpływem niedoskonałej wiedzy, emocji, impulsów i pułapek czyhających we współczesnym świecie finansów, podejmują wybory irracjonalne, z konsekwencjami których mierzą się przez wiele lat czy nawet pokoleń. Poznanie i odpowiednie zinterpretowanie informacji płynących z otoczenia zewnętrznego dalszego, ale także najbliższego, w dzisiejszych czasach zdaje się być kluczem do właściwego podejmowania decyzji finansowych. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie zagrożeń płynących z rynku nieruchomości mieszkaniowych w Polsce. Na potrzeby artykułu zastosowano hipotezę z której wynika, iż rynek nieruchomości jest dobrym miejscem lokowania kapitału, ale też niesie za sobą wiele zagrożeń, o których konsument lokujący środki finansowe powinien wiedzieć i traktować z dużą atencją.
Currently, all over Poland, one can observe a significant recovery in the residential real estate market, the situation of which has not been present on the market since the global financial crisis that was initiated in the United States by 2008-2009 subprime mortgages, and which then gradually gained control over other countries with greater or lesser intensity. Polish economy is growing in strength, which is influenced by, among others, private consumption and investments. The record low interest rates maintained at the same level since 2014 constitute the impulse stimulating the economy and the real estate market. To consumers, the declining price of money on the Polish Interbank Market (WIBOR) results in an easier access to loan financing than previously, low monthly installments, which, to a large extent, translates into the growth in the sales of residential real estate and a recovery in the construction sector. The aim of the article is to portray the threats attributed to the residential real estate market in Poland. For the purpose of the article, the hypothesis was proposed that the real estate market is a good place for investing one’s capital, yet it also carries a lot of risk, which the investing consumer should be aware of and treat such hazard with great deference.

Początek XX wieku był świadkiem wielu wydarzeń na arenie politycznej, gospodarczej i naukowej. Do grona najważniejszych wydarzeń odrodzonej Rzeczypospolitej można zaliczyć powstania śląskie. Zwycięstwo militarne i polityczne powstań śląskich umożliwiło przyłączenie istotnej części Górnego Śląska do Polski. Z punktu widzenia gospodarczego fakt ten miał kapitalne znaczenie dla polskiej gospodarki. Na niwie naukowej bardzo istotnym wydarzeniem było utworzenie w 1919 roku Akademii Górniczej w Krakowie. W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę oceny wzajemnej zależności pomiędzy przemysłem górnośląskim a nowo powstałą Akademią Górniczą.
In the beginning of the 20th century many events in the political, economic and scientific arena took place. The Silesian uprisings can be included among the most important events of the reborn Polish Republic. The military and political victory of the Silesian uprisings enabled annexation of a significant part of Upper Silesia to Poland. From the economic point of view, this fact was of great importance to the Polish economy. In the scientific area, the creation of the Mining Academy in Krakow in 1919 was a very important event. This paper the author attempts to assess the interdependence between the Upper Silesian industry and the newly established Mining Academy.

Metallic glasses, in contrast to its crystalline counterparts, exhibit unique mechanical and structural properties, which make them attractive for practical applications. Especially Ni-Ti-Zr metallic glass is a promising alloy for micromechanical systems because of its known shape memory properties. Shape memory effect is connected with structural phase transformation. In this paper, the ambient-temperature-structure of Ni-Ti-Zr metallic glass is investigated using transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron X-ray diffraction, the surface and chemical analysis is documented using scanning electron microscopy. Thermal stability of the alloy has been determined using differential scanning calorimetry.

One of the key roles in the cinematic image of Łódź (the centre of Polish film production in the 1950s and 1960s) was played by “Se-Ma-For” Film Studio. The political and economic changes that Poland underwent at the beginning of the 1990s resulted in the liquidation of most state-owned companies. Se-Ma-For studio managed to operate until 1999, when it was closed. Th is text elaborates on the circumstances that resulted in the liquidation of the studio in 1999.

Opis:
Propagation of acoustic waves in the sea, in particular in shallow sea, depends on several factors. The basic of them are source power and frequency of acoustic waves, spatial distribution inhomogeneous medium in which acoustic wave propagates, and distributions of speed of sound and density of seawater. The coastal conditions, which limit water medium from above (free surface of the sea) and from bottom (the seabed), are no less important. In this paper we will consider the examination of the layer structure of the seabed by the means of the acoustic methods. By the notion of acoustic methods we mean use of phenomena in the field of nonlinear hydroacoustics. Based on this, the parametric sonar was constructed and was used to the seabed sounding. This parametric sonar is commonly called sub-bottom profiler. The selected results of extensive experimental research, that have been performed in waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk in the years 2008-2010, will be presented in this work.

Article presents results on the analysis of secondary phases formed in the medium-term static isothermal ageing welding joints of a SUPER 304H (675°C/2×10⁴ h). The investigations of the precipitates were focused on the occurrence of σ-phase because its formation leads to significant deterioration of mechanical properties. The microstructure was investigated on microscopic level by scanning/transmission electron microscopy. The distribution and quantification of brittle σ-phase were studied on macroscopic level by color etching method using light optical microscopy. The effect of microstructural changes (σ-phase formation) on the impact strength of an aged base material was investigated. For comparison impact tests on received state material were also performed. The results showed that long-term ageing led to the significant reduction of impact strength as a result of the formation of the σ-phase. It was found that the σ-phase distribution is influenced by welding process. The influence of brittle σ-phase on long-term durability of the degraded steel regarding its insufficient impact strength has been discussed.

Opis:
Academic writing, which necessitates a coordination of multiple higher-level cognitive skills, poses a challenge to graduate students. The heightened cognitive demands often cause negative emotions, such as stress, frustration, discouragement, but can also evoke positive ones, such as pride, satisfaction, and a feeling of accomplishment. This article reports the findings of a longitudinal qualitative study which aimed at exploring the emotions experienced by the participants, eleven students in an MA seminar, in the process of working on their theses, and the affective strategies they used. The data were collected through diaries kept by the participants over one academic year in which they recorded the emotions that accompanied them during the writing task. The data revealed a fluctuating and dynamic nature of the negative and positive emotions, out of which frustration and satisfaction were the most frequently experienced by the participants. Moreover, a range of affective strategies to control emotions and persist in writing were identified in the diary excerpts. The study illuminates the need to cater to the emotional side of graduate students’ thesis writing by providing them with support and appropriate training in self-regulation.

In this work we report on the atomic structures, elemental distribution, defects and dislocations of three types of semiconductor nanowires: ZnTe, CdTe, and complex ZnTe/(Cd,Zn)Te core/shell hetero-nanowires grown by a molecular beam epitaxy on (111) Si substrate using a vapor-liquid-solid mechanism. The structural properties and the chemical gradients were measured by transmission electron microscopy methods. The nanowires reveal mainly sphalerite structure, however wurtzite nanowires were also observed.

Takemitsu Tōru jest jednym z najbardziej znaczących kompozytorów japońskich dwudziestego wieku. W artykule opisane zostały jego kariera, twórczość oraz inspiracje. Kompozytor zasłynął z łączenia elementów tradycyjnej muzyki japońskiej z zachodnią kompozycją. Styl ten nie zawsze jednak był jego znakiem rozpoznawczym, a powstał dopiero po latach poszukiwań i rozważań na temat estetyki i teorii muzyki. W ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiona została estetyka twórczości Takemitsu, która podkreśla jego, odmienny do zachodniego, japoński sposób pojmowania muzyki.
Takemitsu Toru is one of the most prominent and recognizable Japanese contemporary composers. The composer is famous for his skill of combining the elements of traditional Japanese music with Western style composition. The article presents his career, inspirations, Japanese aesthetics such as ma and sawari. His perception of music and his relation to Japanese music and traditional instruments in comparison to the Western music traditions is also described.

With the increasing demand for efficient and economic energy storage, tin disulfide (SnS2), as one of the most attractive anode candidates for the next generation high-energy rechargeable Li-ion battery, have been paid more and more attention because of its high theoretical energy density and cost effectiveness. In this study, a new, simple and effective process, mechanical alloying (MA), has been developed for preparing fine anode material tin disulfides, in which ammonium chloride (AC), referred to as process control agents (PCAs), were used to prevent excessive cold-welding and accelerate the synthesis rates to some extent. Meanwhile, in order to decrease the mean size of SnS2 powder particles and improve the contact areas between the active materials, wet milling process was also conducted with normal hexane (NH) as a solvent PCA. The prepared powders were both characterized by X-ray diffraction, Field emission-scanning electron microscopeand particle size analyzer. Finally, electrochemical measurements for Li/SnS2 cells were takenat room temperature, using a two-electrode cell assembled in an argon-filled glove box and the electrolyte of 1M LiPF6 in a mixture of ethylene carbonate(EC)/dimethylcarbonate (DMC)/ethylene methyl carbonate (EMC) (volume ratio of 1:1:1).

Opis:
Celem pracy jest analiza twórczości filmowej rosyjskiego reżysera i scenarzysty Kantemira Bałagowa. Na podstawie dwóch pełnometrażowych produkcji – Bliskości (2017) oraz Wysokiej dziewczyny (2019) zwrócono uwagę na formalny aspekt wymienionych filmów, rolę feminizacji narracji historycznej, a także złożoną sieć inspiracji (kinowe klasyki i rosyjska literatura). Istotnym dla twórczości Bałagowa jest kontekst społeczno-polityczny Rosji, który służy omawianemu twórcy jako narzędzie rewizji narodowych mitów. Uzupełnieniem rozległego portretu reżysera jest charakterystyka twórczości Aleksandra Sokurowa, wprowadzająca istotny dla badań aspekt prawosławnego ikonopisarstwa. Autorka wskazuje, że kluczy interpretacyjnych dla twórczości Sokurowa i Bałagowa należy poszukać właśnie w symbolice prawosławnych ikon. Ambicją niniejszej pracy jest poszerzenie aktualnego stanu badań nad filmografią Kantemira Bałagowa, który obecnie ogranicza się do premierowych recenzji oraz festiwalowych wywiadów.
The aim of the work is to analyse the artistic legacy of the Russian director and screenwriter Kantemir Balagov. Attention was drawn to the formal aspect, the role of feminisation of historical narration, and the complex network of inspirations (cinema classics and Russian literature) on the basis of two full-length productions – Closeness (2017) and Beanpole (2019). The social and political context of Russia is important for the Balagov’s work, which serves the artist in question as a tool for revising national myths. The extensive portrait of the director is complemented by the characteristics of Alexander Sokurov's work, which introduces an aspect of Orthodox iconocratic writing that is important for research. The author of this work indicates that the interpretation keys for Sokurov's and Balagov's films should be sought directly in the symbolism of Orthodox icons. This work therefore aspires to expand the present state of research on Kantemir Balagov's filmography, which is currently limited to premiere reviews and festival interviews.
