    Opis:
    Catholic Church promotes the dialogue with Judaism and encourages interfaith meetings aimed to mutual understanding and friendship. Obviously, prayer is and should be the main integrating factor, and the Lord’s Prayer fits the best to such a task. It was formulated in the context of Jewish mentality and prayer tradition and rabbis in general do not object its content. In the paper, the comparison of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew’s version with standard prayer book of today’s Jews is presented. It reveals how Christians may deepen their understanding of the familiar prayer with unfamiliar meaning, and how Jews may see the “Jewishness” of the very roots of Christian prayer and belief.

    The Johannine models, which present Mary’s dignity as the “Mother of God,” shed new light on the Lord’s prayer. Luke’s Our Father contains three requests concerning human needs and two requests directed towards God, which is reflected in the first Johannine model 3+2. Matthew’s Pater poster consists of five requests from Luke and two additional requests that only appear in the Gospel of Matthew. This corresponds to the second Johannine model 5+2. In light of the Johannine models, “Our Father” was used by Matthew, who supplemented Luke’s version.
    Wzory Janowe, które ujawniają godność Maryi jako „Matki Pana”, rzucają nowe światło na Modlitwę Pańską. Łukaszowy Ojcze nasz zawiera trzy prośby dotyczące ludzkich potrzeb i dwie prośby skierowane do Boga, co odzwierciedla pierwszy wzór Janowy 3+2. Mateuszowy Pater noster składa się z pięciu Łukaszowych próśb i dwóch dodatkowych próśb, które występują tylko w Ewangelii Mateusza. Odpowiada to drugiemu wzorowi Janowemu 5+2. W świetle modeli Janowych Łukaszowy Ojcze nasz był wykorzystany przez Mateusza, który uzupełnił wersję Łukaszową.

    The annonymous work called The Rule of the Master, in the so-called Thema, contains a commentary to the Lord’s Prayer. The Master, in his interpretion of invocation, touches the Christian doctrine. He analyse adopted sonship, which men is receiving by the Grace of God. This grace is a fruit of salvation given by Christ passover. Every Christian receives this grace in sacrament of baptism. First three request in Lord’s Prayer, although directed to God strictly, also refer to bound between man and Father. These prayers contains double dimension: theocentric and antropocentric. First, these three request are leading to the God, and from Him, return to man to realize to him the obligations which are connected with the status: the child of God. Four next requests concer the specific needs of man, such as daily food, forgiveness, defense against the devil and temptations. We can not admit, that these four are focusing only on man. We can find in it also a deep theocentric feature. By directing these request to God, says The Master, man expect suport and help.

    This note proposes a new hypothesis that ἐπιούσιος of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:11 and Luke 11:3 was an attempt to translate adequately rōzīq/g, the Middle Iranian loan word in Jesus' Hebrew / Aramaic, whose meaning was ‘nourishment provided by God's mercy day to day’, and not merely ‘daily [bread], needed for the day/for today’.

    Opis:
    The goal of the article is to provide a description of grammar and vocabulary-related differences in the fragments of Our Father in Polish medieval songs (until the 16th century). The fragments introduced into the texts are processed to varying degrees, from being quoted, to modified or involving a free reference to the Pater Noster. Modification was the most frequently employed form. There were four major types of modifications: lexical exchange, change in word order, adding an element and removing an element. This also indicated the reasons for introducing the changes: some of them stem from the way in which the excerpts were introduced into the text (formal changes), some are intentional (application of specific forms) and affected the form of the artistic song (rhyme, rhythm, phonaesthetics). The lack of stability of the adopted fragments is also related to the way song operated as an oral form, making it vulnerable to a variety of transpositions. At the same time, however, with all these modifications, one element remained unchanged: the expression from evil which became one of the “theological and poetic formulas” used in Polish religious poetry of the Middle Ages.

    Tekst jest próbą ukazania wpływu duchowości i idei głoszonych przez księży zmartwychwstańców na kulturę i sztukę, w tym na architekturę i środowisko kulturowe ziem polskich w drugiej połowie XIX i początku XX wieku. Dla zgromadzenia szczególnie ważne były postulaty dotyczące potrzeby zmiany funkcjonowania społeczeństwa (w kierunku społeczeństwa obywatelskiego), pracy nad wzrostem znaczenia struktur parafialnych oraz wspólnot działających w obrębie lokalnych społeczności, a także starannego wykształcenia księży i odnowy życia liturgicznego. Zmiana myślenia w kierunku bliskim ideom zmartwychwstańców uwidoczniła się m.in. w tendencji szczególnie widocznej we wznoszeniu tzw. wiejskich katedr, czyli neogotyckich kościołów, które stawały się centrami odradzania się społeczności i podnosiły rangę okolicy poprzez dodanie odpowiedniej przestrzeni dla odnowy splendoru wspólnej liturgii i miejsca dla prac edukacyjnych oraz dzieł miłosierdzia. Przykładem osób, które świadomie podjęły idee zaangażowania świeckich w rozwój religijny Polaków, wzrostu obecności chrześcijańskich zasad w polityce, gospodarce, filantropii, edukacji, nauce i sztuce, a przez to ‒ w dalszej perspektywie ‒ odrodzenia państwowości polskiej, byli Feliks i Emilia Sobańscy, wywodzący się z Obodówki na Ukrainie, od 1865 roku osiadli w Guzowie na Mazowszu. Feliks Sobański szczególnie głęboko przeżywał swą wiarę w kontekście słów Modlitwy Pańskiej, która towarzyszyła mu przez całe życie i którą wprowadzał w czyn m.in. poprzez fundowane przez siebie dzieła miłosierdzia ‒ ochronki, przytułki, szpitale, a także obiekty kultu ‒ wpisujące się w krajobraz architektoniczny ziem polskich. Jego postawa wynikała z osobistych kontaktów z ojcami z zakonu zmartwychwstańców i czerpania z wykładów o. Piotra Semenenki poświęconych modlitwie Ojcze nasz. Poszczególne wezwania Modlitwy Pańskiej pojawiały się na fundowanych przez Sobańskiego obiektach kultu i miłosierdzia m.in.: kaplicy przy pałacu w Guzowie, na kapliczce przy Ochronce w Guzowie, nad wejściem do Sal Zajęć dla Chłopców w Warszawie, na budynku oficyny pałacu Sobańskich w Alejach Ujazdowskich w Warszawie. Stałe posługiwanie się fragmentami Modlitwy Pańskiej w celu oznaczania fundowanych przez siebie budynków było niezwykle świadomą manifestacją pobożności, prostoty i miłosierdzia. Feliks Sobański, umieszczając komunikat w przestrzeni publicznej, zapewne zakładał, że będzie on mógł być dekodowany przez wielu odbiorców, niemniej trudno wskazać konkretnych adresatów. Trwała (przynajmniej w założeniach) inskrypcja na budowli jest, a właściwie staje się, trwałym elementem przestrzeni, której powierzono zadanie przeniesienia wartości zawartych w inskrypcji i oddziaływania nimi na innych. Użycie fragmentów Modlitwy Pańskiej, tekstu podstawowego dla chrześcijaństwa i znanego (w czasie nadawania komunikatu) powszechnie, jest ciekawym użyciem pars pro toto, kiedy to „część” pobudza myślenie o „całości” oraz swoistym, wynikającym ze świadomego wcielenia postawy chrześcijanina według nauk ojców zmartwychwstańców, publicznym wyznaniem wiary Sobańskiego. Wydaje się, że koncept opatrywania budowli wezwaniami z Modlitwy Pańskiej, zastosowany przez Feliksa i Emilię Sobańskich, nie ma odpowiednika na ziemiach polskich, jak również nie udało się dotychczas wskazać podobnych semantycznie realizacji europejskich.  
    Il testo è un tentativo di presentare l‘influenza della spiritualità e delle idee predicate dai Padri Resurrezionisti sulla cultura e sull’arte, compresa l’architettura, e sull’ambiente culturale dei territori polacchi nella seconda metà del XIX e all’inizio del XX secolo. I presupposti relativi alla necessità di cambiare il modo in cui funziona la società (verso una società civile), di lavorare su un incremento delle strutture parrocchiali e delle comunità che operano all’interno delle società locali, così come sulla formazione approfondita dei sacerdoti e sul rinnovamento della vita liturgica, erano di particolare importanza per la congregazione. Il mutamento di pensiero a favore di idee vicine a quelle dei Resurrezionisti si manifestò, tra l’altro, in una tendenza particolarmente evidente nell’erezione delle cosiddette Cattedrali di Villaggio, o chiese neogotiche, che divennero centri di rinascita delle comunità e elevarono lo status del quartiere, fornendo uno spazio appropriato per il ripristino dello splendore della liturgia collettiva e uno spazio per le opere educative e caritatevoli. Feliks ed Emilia Sobański, originari di Obodówka in Ucraina, stabilitisi a Guzów in Mazovia dal 1865, abbracciarono consapevolmente l’idea di un coinvolgimento laico nello sviluppo religioso dei polacchi, dell’aumento della presenza dei principi cristiani nella politica, nell’economia, nella filantropia, nell’istruzione, nella scienza e nell’arte, e quindi – a lungo termine – della rinascita dello Stato polacco. Feliks Sobański sperimentò in modo particolarmente profondo la sua fede nel contesto delle parole del Padre Nostro, che lo accompagnarono per tutta la vita e che mise in pratica attraverso opere di carità – fondò orfanotrofi, case di accoglienza, ospedali, oltre a luoghi di culto – che entrarono a far parte del paesaggio architettonico delle terre polacche. Il suo atteggiamento derivò dai contatti personali con i Padri dell’ordine dei Resurrezionisti e beneficiò delle lezioni di Padre Piotr Semenenko sulla preghiera del Padre Nostro. Le invocazioni individuali del Padre Nostro apparvero nei luoghi di culto e di carità fondati da Sobański, tra cui: la cappella del palazzo di Guzów, la cappella dell’orfanotrofio di Guzów, sopra l’ingresso delle aule per ragazzi a Varsavia e sull’edificio degli uffici del palazzo Sobański ad Aleje Ujazdowskie a Varsavia. L’uso costante di frammenti del Padre Nostro per contrassegnare gli edifici da lui fondati fu una manifestazione estremamente consapevole di pietà, semplicità e carità. Feliks Sobański, collocando il messaggio nello spazio pubblico, presumibilmente supponeva che potesse essere interpretato da molti, anche se è difficile identificare gli specifici destinatari. L’iscrizione indelebile (almeno nell’ipotesi) sull’edificio è, o meglio diventa, un elemento permanente dello spazio, incaricato di portare i valori contenuti nell’iscrizione e di influenzare altri con essi. L’uso di passaggi del Padre Nostro, un testo fondamentale per il Cristianesimo e ampiamente conosciuto (all’epoca della trasmissione del messaggio), è un uso interessante della pars pro toto, quando una ‘parte’ stimola il pensiero sul ‘tutto’ e una peculiare confessione pubblica di fede da parte di Feliks Sobański, risultante da un’incarnazione intenzionale dell’atteggiamento cristiano secondo gli insegnamenti dei Padri Resurrezionisti. Sembrerebbe che il concetto di contrassegnare gli edifici con invocazioni del Padre Nostro, applicato da Feliks Sobański ed Emilia Sobańska, non trovi una controparte nei territori polacchi, così come non è stato ancora possibile individuare realizzazioni europee semanticamente simili.
    The text is an attempt’ to present the influence of the spirituality and ideas preached by the Resurrectionist fathers on the culture and art, including architecture and the cultural environment of the Polish territories in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The postulates concerning the need to change the way society functions (towards a civil society), to work on an increase of parish structures and communities operating within local societies, as well as the thorough education of priests and the renewal of liturgical life, were of particular importance to the congregation. The change in thinking towards ideas close to those of the Resurrectionists became evident, among other things, in a tendency particularly prominent in the erection of so-called village cathedrals, or neo-Gothic churches, which became centers of community revival and raised the status of the neighborhood by providing appropriate space for the renewal of the splendor of the collective liturgy and space for educational and charitable works. Feliks and Emilia Sobański, originally from Obodówka in Ukraine, settled in Guzów in Mazovia since 1865, would consciously embraced the idea of secular involvement in the religious development of Poles, the growth of the presence of Christian principles in politics, economy, philanthropy, education, science and art, and thus – in the long run – the rebirth of Polish statehood. Feliks Sobański particularly profoundly experienced his faith in the context of the Lord’s Prayer words, which accompanied him throughout his life and which he put into action through charitable works – he founded orphanages, shelters, hospitals, as well as places of worship – that were part of the architectural landscape of the Polish lands. His attitude derived from personal contacts with the fathers of the Resurrectionist order and benefited from Father Piotr Semenenko’s lectures on the Our Father prayer. Individual invocations of the Lord’s Prayer appeared on places of worship and charity founded by Sobański, including: the chapel at the Guzów palace, the chapel at the Ophanage in Guzów, above the entrance to the Classrooms for Boys in Warsaw, and on the office building of the Sobański palace in Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw. The constant use of fragments of the Lord’s Prayer in order to mark the buildings he founded was an extremely conscious manifestation of piety, simplicity and charity. Feliks Sobański, by placing the message in public space, would probably have assumed that it could be decoded by many, nevertheless it is difficult to identify specific recipients. The permanent (at least in assumption) inscription on the building is, or rather becomes, a permanent element of the space, assigned to carry the values contained in the inscription and influence others with them. The use of passages from the Lord’s Prayer, a text fundamental to Christianity and widely known (at the time of the message’s transmission), is an interesting use of pars pro toto, when a “part” stimulates thinking about the “whole” and a peculiar public confession of faith by Feliks Sobański, resulting from a deliberate embodiment of the Christian attitude following the teachings of the Resurrectionist fathers. It seems that the concept of marking buildings with invocations from the Lord’s Prayer, applied by Feliks Sobański and Emilia Sobańska, has no counterpart in the Polish territories, as well as it has not yet been possible to point out semantically similar European realizations.
