In this paper we undertake an attempt to assess an impact which levels of education and vocational skills both have on the individuals’ position in the labor market. This position we define on the basis of probability of loosing a job by the employed and odds of finding a job by the unemployed. Celem artykułu jest uchwycenie wpływu poziomu wykształcenia i kwalifikacji zawodowych na pozycję jednostek na rynku pracy. Pozycję tę określamy w oparciu o prawdopodobieństwo utraty pracy przez osoby pracujące oraz szanse znalezienia pracy przez osoby bezrobotne. Podstawą analiz empirycznych, podjętych w artykule, są dane jednostkowe, pochodzące z badań aktywności ekonomicznej ludności (BAEL) z roku 2002.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań, których celem było ustalenie relacji występujących pomiędzy typami konsumpcji żywności ekologicznej a cechami psychograficznymi, kształtującymi zachowania żywieniowe polskiego konsumenta, z wykorzystaniem metody regresji logitowej jako narzędzia analizy ilościowej wyników tych badań. Analiza wyników regresji logitowej pozwoliła na wyznaczenie określonych modeli zachowań konsumentów na rynku żywności ekologicznej za pomocą cech psychograficznych.
The article presents the results of the study which aim was to establish the relationship between the types of ecological food consumption and psychographic features which shape the nutritional behaviours of Polish consumers, using logit regression method as a tool of quantitative analysis of these results. Analysis of the results of logit regression allowed for the designation of specific models of consumer behaviors on ecological food market using psychographic features.

The problem of monetary aspect of welfare in employees’ household was undertaken in this paper. In order to identify the households in danger of poverty, the binary logit models approach was applied. It was found that the estimation of models without the interaction terms results in misspecification error. Due to this, the interaction terms, between the socio-economic factors of households were included in the model. The obtained results can have significant importance in the aspect of social policy in Poland.

W pracy przedstawiono metodę szacowania parametrów strukturalnych modelach prawdopodobieństwa wybranych zmiennych losowych. W metodzie wykorzystuje się ich dystrybuanty odwrotne, które przy zadanych wartościach empirycznych parametru p zmiennej losowej o rozkładzie Bemoulli’ego pozwalają wyznaczyć wartości zmiennej zależnej. Prowadzi to w konsekwencji do odpowiednich modeli liniowych, które umożliwiają uogólnioną metodą najmniejszych kwadratów wyznaczyć poszukiwane parametry strukturalne. Modele takie zostały zbudowane dla rozkładów: jednostajnego, normalnego, logistycznego i wykładniczego, przy czym w przypadku rozkładów jednostajnego i wykładniczego uwzględniono także ich parametry. Postępowanie to pozwoliło na sformułowanie ogólnej procedury estymacji parametrów rozważnych modeli.
In the paper, on the selected distributions o f probability there were given models allowing for estimation of structural parameters by the generalized least squares method, by applying various types of function of the independent variable in models. It allowed a uniform perspective of the method of estimation of structural parameters and forecasting the value of parameter p, presented in the final part of the article.

In this article an attempt was made to use logistic models to measure and evaluate the economic situation of individual farms. Research was based on source data from 656 Polish farms that were keeping the accounts in 2001. The estimated model can be used by banks in order to evaluate the credibility of individual farms. 
W pracy podjęto próbę zastosowania analizy logitowej do pomiaru i oceny sytuacji ekonomicznej indywidualnych gospodarstw rolnych. Badania zostały oparte na danych źródłowych pochodzących z 656 gospodarstw z terenu całej Polski, prowadzących rachunkowość w 2001 roku. Prezentowany model logitowy może być zastosowany jako narzędzie diagnozowania sytuacji ekonomicznej indywidualnych gospodarstw rolnych. Pozwala również ocenić stopień wiarygodności kredytowej poszczególnych gospodarstw. Charakteryzuje go wysoka statystyczna istotność wyników klasyfikacji. Największą wiarygodnością kredytową charakteryzują się gospodarstwa jednokierunkowe, wykazujące dochód rolniczy netto na poziomie zysku netto oraz bardzo dużą towarowość produkcji.

Celem artykułu jest zbadanie czynników wpływających na mobilność społeczną w Polsce w latach 1992-2008. Wykorzystane zostały dane pochodzące z badania ,,Polski Generalny Sondaż Społeczny” zrealizowanego przez Instytut Studiów Społecznych Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego na reprezentatywnej próbie dorosłych członków gospodarstw domowych. Zbiór ten zawiera wywiady przeprowadzone w latach 1992-2008 i obejmuje 16 234 respondentów. Wykorzystując modele logitowe sprawdzono, co decyduje o tym, jaką pozycję w społeczeństwie zajmuje osoba badana oraz jakie czynniki wpływają na awans lub degradację społeczną. Pod uwagę wzięto zarówno cechy indywidualne respondenta, jak i te związane z jego pochodzeniem społecznym.
This article is aimed to examine the factors affecting social mobility in Poland in the years 1992-2008. The data used in the study comes from research “Polish General Social Survey” carried out by the Institute of Social Studies at Warsaw University on a representative sample of adult household members. This collection contains interviews conducted in the years 1992-2008 and includes 16,234 respondents. Logistic regression models are used to test what determines the position a person occupies in the society and what factors affect upward or downward social mobility. Both the individual characteristics of the respondent as well as those related to his social background were taken into account.

This paper centres to the presentation of analyzed potential relations between the determinants of purchasing decisions regarding insurance products and socio-demographic variables, i.e. age, gender, place of residence, income, occupational status, and number of people in the household. The authors also examined whether making financial decisions in a household determines purchasing decisions concerning insurance products. The main hypothesis is: from the perspective of an elderly customer, inherent features of an analyzed insurance product are more vital than aspects regarding the sales process. The analysis was conducted using the ordered logit model, where factors determining purchases of insurance products were used as dependent variables.

Dividend smoothing is a well-known empirical fact in developed countries. It is influenced by many factors. In this paper we analyse the relevance of dividend smoothing in the construction companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2000-2014. It is assumed that it is possible to estimate the level of dividend smoothing and to identify the factors determining this level. The implementation of the purpose and verification of the hypotheses required applying econometric models. The findings suggest that the Lintner model can be applied for construction companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange because the smoothing effect was statistically significant in most cases. However, it was not possible to identify statistically significant smoothing factors, although these factors can be useful in order to estimate the logit model which is used to predict whether the company will pay a dividend or not

Celem artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie, poprzez wykorzystanie modelu ekonometrycznego, determinantów powstawania zewnętrznych struktur organizacyjnych, nazywanych także strukturami międzyorganizacyjnymi. Problem rozwiązań strukturalnych jest podstawowym zagadnieniem na gruncie nauki o zarządzaniu. Proces umiędzynarodowienia organizacji, jak również rozwój technologii informatycznych powodują rozwój przedsiębiorstw, a w konsekwencji ewolucję struktur. Zasadna więc wydaje się analiza nowoczesnych form zorganizowania pracy.
The purpose of the article is to identify, by using the econometric model, the determinants of external organizational structures, also called interorganizational structures. The problem of structural solutions is a fundamental issue in the field of management science. The process of internationalization of the organization, as well as the development of information technology, lead to the development of enterprises and, consequently, the evolution of organizational structures. So it seems reasonable to analyze modern forms of organizing work.

In the present elaboration an attempt has been made to build the logit model which makes it possible to specify the probability of diagnosing the ovarian carcinoma in the female patients with pathological lesion in the ovary. Based on sampling of 210 patients treated and diagnosed at the Teaching Hospital of Operative Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology of Women and Girls of the Pomeranian Medical University, the evaluations of the parameters of two logit models were determined and the estimation of the quality of obtained models was made. The obtained results may contribute to supporting of the ovarian cancer diagnostics.

The aim of the paper was to assess differentiation of the occurrence of households’ income affluence in Poland between subregions. An analysis was conducted using two-level logit models without explanatory variables (null model) and with explanatory variables at household level (random intercept model and random slope model). The variables were related to the characteristics of the household and its head. The conducted analysis allowed to state that the occurrence of affluence is differentiated between subregions in the null model as well as in the model with explanatory variables.

The main objective of this paper was to determine the factors that affect the livelihood strategies of resettled smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe. The study was conducted in Manicaland Province in Zimbabwe, and the respondents were stratified into four groups. These were smallholder farmers resettled under the A1 and A2 models, as well as tobacco and non-tobacco smallholder farmers. The two models differ in how they were implemented and supported, which might lead to them having different livelihood strategies. A total of 300 respondents were surveyed, consisting of 114 tobacco and 149 non-tobacco farmers and 24 off-farm and 13 wageearner households in Manicaland province. The study used a Multinomial Logit model to investigate the factors influencing a household’s decision to choose different livelihood strategies. In the model, the dependent variables included four livelihood strategies, while the explanatory variables included various household social-economic and institutional factors. The results obtained from the multinomial logistic regression model established that gender and land size were significant at a level of 1%, and education, household size, access to credit and access to inputs were significant at 5% in the adoption of tobacco farming, access to credit and gender were significant at a 1% level in the adoption of non-tobacco farming, while education was significant at a 10% level in adopting off-farm were found to be significant in determining the adoption of the tobacco farming in the study area up to less than 10% probability level in adopting off-farm activities. Smallholder farmers who did not adopt tobacco farming indicated that limited land size, shortage of labour and access to tobacco inputs were the major impediments to adopting tobacco farming. The government should support the efforts of smallholder farmers to increase their livelihood strategies through unveiling credit lines for farming activities. Access to inputs for smallholder farmers should be made a priority by the government through the provision and fair distribution of adequate agricultural inputs.

The main objective of the study is to identify determinants of income satisfaction in Poland. For this purpose, income situation of households in relative terms is analyzed. The effects of the relative deprivation on income satisfaction in various socio-demographic groups of households are also examined. The method of partially generalized ordered logit models is used in the paper. The empirical investigation is based on data from Household Budget Survey carried out by the Polish Central Statistical Office in 2009.

The labour market in any field becomes more and more demanding and specialized, professional. For a more efficient absorption of graduates, the professional environment requires both advanced theoretical knowledge and practical abilities. During the study period, based on rational mechanisms, students form a perception related to the probability of finding an adequate job. In this article we model the constructed perceptions through Ordered Logit models. The application regards 88 students from two Romanian universities. The programme they are involved in is called “The Audit and Financial Management of European Funds”. The results obtained are in accordance with the logical mechanisms evidenced in the theoretical part. The explanatory variables that are statistically significant relate both to the scholarly results and to the student’s status on the labour market. The conclusions drawn are not limited only to the evaluated sample. They are easy to generalize, with necessary changes, to any university specialization.
