Prezentuje stan literaturoznawczej wiedzy na temat przemian literatury pod wpływem mediów cyfrowych oraz problemy z nimi związane. Odwołuje się do koncepcji Sandy’ego Balwina, który w książce Internet Unconscious (2015) pokazuje nowe perspektywy badania wskazanych zjawisk, dowodząc, że nowe interaktywne medium nie tylko nie zagraża literaturze, lecz stanowi dla niej naturalny teren ekspansji. Wymaga to od badaczy literatury gotowości do podejmowania nowych wyzwań teoretycznych, a także technologicznych.
The author of the article presents the current situation and perspectives for future development of literary scholarship relating to the changing media environment and the development of new forms of writing activity on the Internet. She looks for answers to the question of where the borders of literariness online lie and how it is defined. The author further presents the current state of literary scholarship on the subject of the transformation of literature under the influence of digital media and related problems. The author cites a concept developed by Sandy Baldwin, who in the book Internet Unconsious (2015) shows new potential areas of study relating to these phenomena, demonstrating conclusively that this new interactive medium not only poses no threat to literature, but constitutes a natural area for its expansion. This calls for readiness on the part of literary scholars to embrace new theoretical and technological solutions.

The article concerns electronic literature and its place at the interface of traditional literature, technology and visual arts. This new genre of literature, associated with the development of digital media, shows that the boundaries of classical arts and disciplines in scientific research are blurring. This new phenomena require a new, transdisciplinary approach, combining literary and humanist competences with programming knowledge. The author presents a new literary phenomenon and indicates that literariness is a category which is more functional than literature in the case of studying e-literary. Literariness applies not only to literary works but also to other arts and phenomena in which it is the dominant feature of the work. This is exactly what happens in the case of electronic literature. It remains in the field of creativity in which the role of the word is the most important. At the same time, programming skills are required from the artist and the researcher, which do not fall within the scope of classical humanities. The author indicates that e-literary creativity is an area that opens up new perspectives for literary studies. It also sets new requirements for literary researchers.

The paper addresses the problem of mutual relation between form and function as exemplified by haiku. Focusing upon the structure of haiku conducive to epiphany, it discusses some general aspects, independent of the differences between Eastern and Western varieties of the form. The “literariness” of the genre is demonstrated with reference to dimensions of imagery (as defined in Langacker’s model of cognitive grammar), and to the strongly metonymic character of haiku. Finally, some shortcomings of “Polish haiku” are shown as a function of its culture-bound untranslatability.

Am Beispiel der Pitavalgeschichte des Marquis de la Pivardiere ist der Beitrag der asymmetrischen Verhorsituation im Inquisitionsverfahren gewidmet1. Untersuchungsrichter und Protokollant verdichten die Aussagen der Magde des Marquis zu einer juristisch belastbaren Erzahlung des Tathergangs. Gezeigt wird, wie sich in der Fassungsgeschichte (Gayot de Pitaval, Friedrich Schiller, Neuer Pitaval) der Wandel zum reformierten Strafprozess spiegelt. Der in den Akten dokumentierte Manipulationsvorwurf dient bei Gayot zur Mahnung an eine formstrenge Durchfuhrung des Verfahrens, wahrend Schiller darin einen anthropologisch verwertbaren Einblick in die Psyche des Tatersubjekts erkennt. Der neue Pitaval disqualifiziert das Inquisitionsverfahren im Ganzen, um ihm die preu.ische Rechtspraxis entgegen zu stellen.
Using the cause célèbre of the Marquis de la Pivardiere, the article is dedicated to the asymmetrical situation in the inquisitorial hearings of witnesses. The inquisitor and the transcript condense the testimony of the Marquis’ maids into a legally usable narrative. It is shown how the individual versions of this story (Gayot de Pitaval, Friedrich Schiller, Neuer Pitaval) reflect the historical change to the reformed criminal process. In Gayot’s case, the accusation of manipulation documented in the records serves as an admonition to conduct the trial with strict formality, while Schiller recognises in it an anthropologically revealing insight into the psyche of the delinquent. Der Neue Pitaval disqualifies the inquisition procedure as a whole to oppose the Prussian legal practice.

Sermons of Reverend Janusz Stanisław Pasierb have a distinct literary character. This may be due to the fact that the preacher was both a poet and essayist. The first part of the paper contains a methodological reflection on literariness, with particular emphasis on the location of the sermon as a specific genre of expression in relation to other forms of literary expression. In the further part of the text, the style and composition of sermons of Reverend Pasierb and their relationship with the poetry of this author are examined. Also, homilies from the funerals of art people are presented – in these works Pasierb contained a particularly large literary component. Reverend Pasierb is fully aware of what the art of word is, including the preacher’s word. He works towards a greater linguistic reflection, drawing artistic attention to the style of preaching. His preaching, with a metaphysical depth and clearly eschatological perspective, and at the same time adding value to worldliness, often tends to an essay and meditation. We are dealing with the individualization of a preacher’s message and a partial remodelling of a typical preacher’s formula.

The aim of the article is to indicate the assumptions which are the basis for setting satire against grotesque by Boris Eichenbaum in his study Jak jest zrobiony „Płaszcz” Gogola. By analyzing Eichenbaum’s argumentation, the author claims that the formalistic conception of literariness, which stresses the autonomous character of an artistic work, was conducive to the tendency for a depreciation of satire and ennoblement of grotesque.

In some measure, in opposition to the contemporary studies on Chopin’s letters emphasising their non-literary character, the aim of this study is to point at the multifaceted literariness of the correspondence of the author of the Revolutionary Etude. One of its crucial aspects would be the intertextual one: Chopin’s letters constitute an intriguing community of style, including, above all, the schemes of Fredro-like comedy and Henryk Rzewuski’s gawęda szlachecka (nobility tale). The idea of writing in the spirit of disciplined lightness, rigour of formulating thoughts in a casual, colloquial and easy manner, as Wiktor Weintraub put it, affects Chopin’s planned skill of self-creation and autothematical procedures, always in similar styles that use humour for the purpose of making thing unusual, or even obscene. The arguments collected in the article force one to withdraw Ryszard Przybylski’s conviction about Chopin’s epistolography as representing the language “serving life” only outside of literature and literariness.

Sprache und Literatur bzw. sprachliche und literarische Bildung sind in der Geschichte der Fremdsprachendidaktik in Italien sehr eng verbunden. Wenn man den Schulkontext am Beispiel von Deutsch als Fremdsprache in den staatlichen italienischen Schulen näher betrachtet, findet man eine komplexe und vielseitige Situation vor. Worin besteht das Spezifische eines fremdsprachlichen literaturorientierten Unterrichts im DaF-Unterricht und wie lässt es sich wissenschaftstheoretisch fundieren? Diese Frage, die in den 1970er- und 1980er-Jahren in der wissenschaftlichen Debatte von vielen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaftlern gestellt wurde, scheint heute im italienischen Schulsystem noch sehr aktuell und unbeantwortet zu sein. Obwohl sich mit dem im Jahr 2020 neu erschienenen Begleitband des Europäischen Referenzrahmens für Sprachen neue Perspektiven eröffneten, bleibt die Diskussion zur Rolle der literarischen Bildung und der Bedeutung eines literaturorientierten Unterrichts noch offen. Dies regt zur Entdeckung neuer Forschungswege an. Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über das italienische Schulsystem im DaF-Bereich, fokussiert dabei auf die Richtlinien für den Einsatz literarischer Texte im Unterricht. Es werden dann in groben Umrissen die Ergebnisse der bisher durchgeführten Studien zur Rolle der Literatur im DaF-Kontext präsentiert und ein Forschungsprojekt zum Thema Literarizität im DaF-Unterricht in Italien vorgestellt.
Język i literatura, czyli edukacja lingwistyczna i literacka, są ze sobą bardzo ściśle powiązane w historii nauczania języków obcych we Włoszech. Jeśli przyjrzeć się kontekstowi szkolnemu na przykładzie języka niemieckiego jako języka obcego we włoskich szkołach państwowych, można zauważyć złożoną i zróżnicowaną sytuację. Na czym polega specyfika lekcji języka niemieckiego jako języka obcego (DaF), zorientowanej na literaturę w języku niemieckim i jak można ją naukowo uzasadnić? To pytanie, zadawane przez wielu lingwistów i literaturoznawców w debacie naukowej w latach 1970. i 1980., nadal wydaje się być bardzo aktualne we włoskim systemie nauczania. Chociaż wydany w 2020 roku tom Europejskiego Systemu Opisu Kształcenia Językowego otworzył nowe perspektywy, dyskusja na temat roli edukacji literackiej i znaczenia nauczania zorientowanego na literaturę pozostaje wciąż otwarta, co stymuluje odkrywanie nowych ścieżek badawczych. Artykuł prezentuje przegląd włoskiego systemu nauczania w obszarze DaF, skupiając się na wskazówkach dotyczących wykorzystania tekstów literackich podczas lekcji. Następnie omówiono w zarysie wyniki przeprowadzonych dotychczas badań nad rolą literatury w kontekście nauczania języka niemieckiego jako języka obcego oraz przedstawiono projekt badawczy dotyczący aspektów literackości tekstów wykorzystywanych w nauce języka niemieckiego jako języka obcego na lekcjach we Włoszech.
Language and literature, or linguistics and literary education, in the Italian context, in the history of foreign language didactics, are very closely linked. If one takes a closer look at the Italian school system, using the example of German as a foreign language, a complex and varied situation can be observed. What is specific about a literature-oriented lesson in German as a foreign language and how can it be scientifically founded? This is a question, which was asked in the scientific debate in the German-speaking world, by many linguists and literary scholars in the 1970s and 1980s and it still seems to be unanswered in the Italian school context today. Although new perspectives have been opened up with the volume accompanying the European Framework of Reference for Languages, published in 2020, the discussion on the role of literary education and the importance of literatureoriented teaching still remains an open question and encourages the discovery of new research paths.

As its point of departure the article takes the intensifying tendency of contemporary art to conjoin the so-called classical literacy with the refreshing capabilities provided by the new media. It is argued that both new media works and the classical literary ones adapted to them-along with new types of books such as audiobooks or e-books, and the new theories recognising their difference-result in a paradigm shift due to which the very category of medium might seem obsolete. Consequently, the article proposes to withdraw from it and privilege the interface instead. It is through this revitalising trope that material traits of liberary works may be affirmed in the way they influence the perceptive, temporal, spatial and sensory capacities of the “reader.” Following this observation, liberature may be regarded as the constitutive element of our epoch. Regardless of whether it is only a fashionable category or an actual break, liberature marks the importance of the material aspect of communication. This pioneering term in turn becomes the part of a greater set of phenomena constructing our already trans-medial everydayness.  
Punktem wyjścia niniejszego artykułu jest zyskująca na znaczeniu tendencja współczesnej sztuki do łączenia tzw. klasycznie rozumianegoczytelnictwa z innowacyjnymi możliwościami, jakie niosą nowe media. Zarówno dzieła nowomedialne, jak i klasyczne dzieła literackie zaadaptowane pod ich możliwości (nie wspominając już o nowych typach książki, takich jak audiobooki czy e-booki, a także o nowych teoriach rozróżniających ich inność) świadczą o zmianie paradygmatu, w perspektywie której pojęcie medium wydaje się anachroniczne. Tym samym, niniejszy artykuł proponuję zarzucić tę kategorią i skupić się na pojęciu interfejsu. Ten obiecujący trop pozwala nam dostrzec i afirmować materialne aspekty dzieła liberackiego, pozwalając nam dostrzec jego wpływy na percepcyjne, temporalne, przestrzenne i zmysłowe możliwości "czytelnika". W związku z tym, liberatura może zostać uznana jako konstytutywne element epoki, w której żyjemy. Niezależnie czy jest ona jedynie modną kategorią czy świadczy o właściwym przełomie, liberatura uwydatnia rolę materialnego aspektu komunikacji i staje się częścią większego zbioru zjawisk, konstytutywnych dla naszej już transmedialnej codzienności.

Autor stawia sobie za cel namysł nad granicznością Smutku tropików wychodząc od pewnego tropu literackiego, a raczej literackiego mitu. Lévi-Strauss za jedną z wymarzonych, ale nienapisanych książek uznaje… Smutek tropików. Przyznaje się bowiem do ogromnej fascynacji Josephem Conradem, którego określa swoim ulubionym pisarzem; antropolog stwierdza nawet, że chciałby napisać jego książki. W efekcie Smutek tropików miał być pierwotnie „conradowską” powieścią; antropolog planował opisać klasyczną, można by powiedzieć, dla angielskiego pisarza intrygę: tubylcy zwodzeni są przez białych dźwiękiem patefonu jako głosem duchów. Z planowanej powieści zostały ostatecznie w książce tylko fragmenty opisujące zachód słońca, a zatem równie klasyczny „conradowski” fragment. Artykuł odpowiada na pytanie, w jakim kierunku prowadzą nas dylematy przez ów zachód słońca przedstawione; pokazuje, że zostały one wyrażone już we wcześniejszych rozdziałach książki francuskiego antropologa i powracać będą w następnych. Realne zagrożenie zapowiadane przez ułudę przedstawienia może przyjmować różne fabularne imiona i formy: mogą to być Indianie Munde, tak dzicy, że aż niepoznawalni; może to być „pogoń za mocą” prowadząca nas ku granicom po to jedynie, byśmy mogli później pochwalić się albumem fotosów; jest to też „entropologia” badająca w istocie procesy dezintegracji kultur i przestrzegająca przed nimi.
Author’s aim is to contemplate the boundaries of Tristes Tropiques starting with one of the literary trails, or rather literary myths. Lévi-Strauss considers Tristes Tropiques to be his one of the dream but unwritten books. He admits to his fascination with Joseph Conrad, and describes him as his favorite writer; the anthropologist even claims that he would like to write his books. As a result Tristes Tropiques at the beginning was meant to be a “Conrad-like” novel. He planned to describe, let’s say, an intrigue that would be classical for an English writer: the natives are misled by white people using the sounds made by a pathé that resemble those made by ghosts. From the planned novel there are only fragments describing sunsets which are classical “Conrad-like” fragments. The article answers the question in which directions the dilemmas presented by the sun set lead us; shows that they were already expressed in the previous chapters of the book and that they will be coming back in the next chapters. Real threat announced by the deception of presentation may have different fiction names and forms: they can be Munde Indians that are so wild that they aren’t recognizable; it can be a “chase after power” leading us to the boundaries just in order to give us the opportunity to boast with a great album of photographies; it is also “enthropology” examining the processes connected with disintegration of cultures and warning against them.

Punktem wyjścia artykułu jest tytułowa metafora, której Douglas Hofstadter używa, mówiąc o przekładzie. Hofstadter opisuje zadanie stojące przed tłumaczem, zwłaszcza w przypadku tekstu literackiego, jako dzieło budowniczego mostu, spinającego dwa brzegi kanionu oddzielającego oryginał od przekładu. Konstrukcja, która jest z początku jedynie chwiejną kładką, stopniowo zmienia się w solidny most, w miarę jak tłumacz odkrywa coraz głębsze warstwy znaczeń. Ten proces, nieuchronnie subiektywny, wymaga skupienia uwagi na rozmaitych aspektach przekładanego tekstu. Są one uderzająco podobne do wymiarów obrazowania w modelu gramatyki i języka naturalnego stworzonym przez Ronalda Langackera. W szerszej perspektywie ta zbieżność stanowi argument przemawiający za transdyscyplinarnym podejściem do problematyki przekładu. Pracą tłumacza kierują jego kompetencja, wyobraźnia i empatia, ale jednocześnie podlegają one restrykcjom tytułowej „krótkiej smyczy”: ograniczeniom stwarzanym przez język, ale także przez wymogi określonego kontekstu. Jako ilustrację, autorka przytacza przykłady zaczerpnięte z własnego warsztatu tłumacza. Jest to tekst, w którym różne, a czasem wzajemnie sprzeczne, tożsamości bohaterki wymagają od tłumacza szczególnej uważności wobec leksykalnych i stylistycznych detali. To one tworzą smycz, jednocześnie umożliwiając tłumaczowi budowanie mostu.
The inspiration for the paper was the metaphor that Dougles Hofstadter applies to translation. He defines the task of the translator – with particular reference to translation of literary texts – as that of the builder of a bridge that spans the canyon, joining its two sides: the original and the translation. An initial rickety foot-bridge, it gradually turns into a sturdy construction with the translator’s repeated attempts at discovering ever-deepening layers of meaning. Inevitably subjective, the building process requires the translator’s concentration upon individual dimensions of the translated text. These dimensions, or aspects, come strikingly close to what is defined as dimensions of imagery in Ronald Langacker’s model of grammar and natural language. In a wider perspective, the convergence is an argument for transdisciplinarity as a valid approach to translation studies. The translator is led by his own competence, imagination and the feeling of empathy, but at the same time they are constrained by “a short leash”: restrictions imposed by languages, cultures and the peculiarities of individual context. To illustrate the point, the author discusses a text (taken from her own translator’s dossier) in which multiple, and sometimes conflicting, identities of the protagonist require particular attention to lexical and stylistic minutiae. It is such details that constitute the leash, at the same time enabling the translator to construct the bridge.

Play games for children under a hundred years, that is the Przygody kota Murmurando Agnieszka Kuciak The author of The Adventures of Murmurando the Cat is a literature studies specialist, a translator of Dante’s Divine Comedy and a poet. Her book for children has a reader-friendly, but the same time quite trivial and therefore untoward design. However it offers quite sophisticated literary entertainment. The aim of the article is to introduce the most important elements of this charade, which include the Agnieszka Kuciak’s book into so called doubleaddress literature. The first issue is connected with the autothematism and meta-literariness. The most interesting aspect is the editorial fiction created within the text and the ‘mouse signature’ being its result. The other issues are the linguistic games, the relation between the metaphore and the literalness, the juggling with the generic conventions (horror and detective story) and intertextuality. I will also show the connection between The Adventures of Murmurando the Cat and the works of Emily Dickinson.

Focusing on Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik’s “model” liberary piece entitled Oka-leczenie ((v)eye/olation, first published in 2000), the article argues that the widely-understood physical shape of a liberary work is inevitable for its proper reading and comprehending. In this paper liberature is discussed as a total literature because of the fact that not only the text and additional visual elements are essential for the reading process, but also because the physical aspects of a work, e.g. empty or cut places, convey the message and express certain senses by means of their silent presence. The liberary body is described as one which may be hurt, destroyed, or even dead. Moreover, liberature is presented as a literature which not only records and conveys a certain content but also shows it through its very specific body and the content that was inscribed in it.
Niniejszy artykuł skupia się na modelowym tekście liberackim, Oka-leczenie autorstwa Zenona Fajfera i Katarzyny Bazarnik, opublikowanym w 2000 roku i pokazuje, iż szeroko rozumiana fizyczność dzieła liberackiego jest niezbywalnym elementem czytania i rozumienia go. Tym samym, liberatura jest tu opisywana jako literatura totalna, nie tylko dlatego, że zarówno tekst, jak i elementy wizualne są kluczowe dla procesu czytelniczego, ale także  dlatego, że fizyczne aspekty dzieła, np. puste lub wycięte miejsca, są nośnikami znaczenia i wyrażają określone sensy za pomocą swojej cichej obecności. Ciało liberackie to ciało, które może być zranione, zniszczone, czy nawet martwe. Co więcej, liberatura pokazana zostaje jako literatura, które nie tylko przechowuje i komunikuje określoną treść, ale także dosłownie pokazuje ją za pomocą nośnika - ciała - na którą treść została naniesiona.

This is the second and final part of Ricardo Piglia’s essay, “Writer as Reader”. The author continues his reflections on Gombrowicz’s essay “Przeciw poetom” (“Against Poets”) and its implications for defining literariness. Piglia also outlines parallels between circulation of poetry and circulation of money.

Artykuł przedstawia pisarstwo Ziemowita Szczerka w kontekście gatunkowych kwalifikacji jako reportaż podróżniczy. Twórczość tę można odczytać jako przykłady reportażu literackiego, w związku z czym zaprezentowano kwestie sporu o referencyjność i literackość gatunku, inspiracje dzieł Szczerka nurtem gonzo journalism oraz zabiegi twórcze problematyzujące kwestię fikcjonalności w reportażu poprzez odniesienie do problematyki geografii wyobrażonej (E.W. Said), kulturowych auto- i heterostereotypów oraz relacji intertekstualnych. Prowadzi to do stwierdzenia, że reportaże literackie Szczerka, podobnie jak pisarstwo podróżnicze Andrzeja Stasiuka, zanurzone są w fikcjotwórstwie, co tylko podnosi wartość literacką tej twórczości.
This article discusses the writing of Ziemowit Szczerek in the context of its genre credentials as travel reportage. Because Szczerek’s work can be read as literary reportage, this article addresses the controversy over the genre’s referentiality and literary status. It also discusses gonzo journalism, which was a source of inspiration for Szczerek, as well as creative devices that problematize issues of fictionality in reportage in reference to themes of imagined geography (E. W. Said), cultural self-stereotypes and hetero-stereotypes, and intertextual relations. The argument leads to the claim that Szczerek’s literary reportage is deeply embedded in creative fiction, perhaps in the vein of Andrzej Stasiuk’s work, and that this only enhances the value of his work.
