Opis:
The concept of normalization was associated with the peace process with Israelis, in both, Arab and Palestinian context. The term has different interpretations depending on context, and it becomes more complex when referring to a direct relationship between the colonized and their colonizers in the context of the settler colonialism in Palestine, therefore, it is a highly controversial concept. The political debates over the concept, mostly describe it as a term that refers to recognizing the state of Israel and conducting normal relations with Israelis. The term ‘normalization’ has been used by Michel Foucault in describing the processes of psychological dominance imposed by an authority’s penal role in modern societies and its influence on human groups. One of the most prominent purposes of “Post-modern” theories is to resist the colonial dominant narratives by discovering the Scattered Historical Contingencies. Given this premise, this paper has the following objectives: To offer a critical, deconstructivist analysis for the concept of normalization in the context of the settler-colonial regime, and to study the genealogies of this concept (Généalogie) by investigating the relevant historical hypotheses: 1) there are historical differences regarding the appearance of the expression phonologically and its practice (political, official, and public practice); and 2) there are historical epistemological transformations that took place with regards to Arabs’ perceptions, and the political reflection, which shaped the image and the relationship with the colonizer, due to the practice of the concept normalization in politics. I will analyse these historical hypotheses by using a synthesis of settler colonial theoretical frameworks and those of socio-political psychology such as Frantz Fanon’s theoretical contributions, to investigate political discourse, including discourse in peace treaties, politics related to the Palestinian and Arab national identities, and the relevant political discourses used by politicians who reject normalization.

Opis:
Research on temporary agency work emphasizes that temporary agency workers (TAWs), particularly those in low-skilled jobs associated with precariousness and low social prestige, are likely to be exposed to poor treatment, as well as stigmatization. On the contrary, stigmatization of TAWs in high-skilled jobs has not been treated in much detail in previous studies. Literature provides an incomplete picture of stigmatization within the broader field of temporary employment regarding the focus on low-skilled jobs. Hence, the present qualitative study is based on data from interviews of a heterogeneous sample of TAWs employed in low- and high-skilled jobs in Germany. By using and modifying Boyce and colleagues’ (2007) model of stigmatization, the study shows that stigmatizing treatment towards TAWs occurs across all skill levels, although the intensity and form of those experiences, as well as coping strategies, differ. Thereby, this study contributes to a more differentiated and skill level-specific understanding of how TAWs perceive and cope with stigmatization linked to their employment status. It also provides an important opportunity to advance Boyce and colleagues’ (2007) complex model of TAW stigmatization with empirical underpinnings.

Opis:
The article aims at exploring the significance of political negotiations for regulating group relations. The authoress wonders to what extent sociology can be useful for the understanding of what is actually occurring during negotiations. She attempts to present a multi-level analysis, taking into account both interactive characteristics as well as the influence of structural factors on negotiation processes. It is organized along the subsequent lines: initially elementary situations were discussed, in which only individuals participate. Next, the authoress presents negotiations of individuals in social networks, negotiations of group representatives, intergroup relations, and finally, the place of negotiation processes in democratic systems. The complex nature of a negotiation situation is noted by the participants, and it causes some decision-making dilemmas which, in turn, shape the situation in question. The analytical approach to this problem can assist in explaining the behavior of actors and the end results of the negotiation process.

Opis:
We współczesnym dyskursie publicznym dotyczącym II wojny światowej rzadko wspomina się o masowych powojennych ruchach ludności w Europie, o przesiedleniach Polaków z Kresów Wschodnich II Rzeczypospolitej, wysiedleniach Niemców i przesiedleniach ludności ukraińskiej. Procesy „wymuszonej mobilności, jak i wymuszonej osiadłości”, stanowiące codzienność tamtych lat zaowocowały upadkiem wielu lokalnych mikroświatów, powstaniem nowych ojczyzn, nowych społeczności i nowych tożsamości.
Major, post-war transfers of populations in Europe, the displacements of Poles from the former Eastern Lands of the Republic of Poland, the expulsions of Germans and the resettlements of Ukrainians are rarely mentioned in the contemporary public discourse on the World War II. The processes of “enforced mobility” as well as of “enforced settlements”, that constituted everyday life for the people back then resulted in the fall of many local microworlds, the formation of new homelands, new communities and new identities. The confrontation of culturally different worlds of “hosts” and “guests”, intergroup conflicts and aspirations for a better life, among others, became a source of “the new mobilities”, that still last. This article attempts to answer a question about the social consequences of these events for local communities and individuals’ identities, and in particular indicates still forming patterns of intergroup relations in ethnically diverse communities.

Social and political opposition, which is based on the existence of contradictions and conflicts explicit interregional, inter-state and global, can cause direct physical and psychological violence. Globalization and historical changes in the social structure of most European countries, especially the Ukrainian- Russian conflict, brought socio-historical ideology of confrontation to a new level, resulting in the need to review the scientific foundations of the problem. Socio-psychological phenomenology of social conflict connected with external attribute personality traits, which is included in the system of social relations (race, gender, nationality, etc.). In the context of social phylogeny of the human community awareness of the existence of differences from the other is in the contrast between «I» certain «They» that leads to the formation of a consolidation group «We». Integration and globalization of the XXI century, which despite everything is a humanistic movement, shape society sharp, clearly negative attitude to physical violence. In a society built on a matrix model to be the most representative group «we» had to meet all the necessary conditions of role. Each member of the community is the bearer of a unique experience and unique properties. If the role variability impossible, it can lead to a critical accumulation representative of this or that social group segments and generate degradation. Social differentiation is a natural process, the essence of which is the union of a community of people with common interests to defend and leads to the formation of a group «they». In the coordinate system of social relations «we» and «they» are on different sides of the plane of the bipolar, but the disappearance of a reorganization one of them prevents the existence of the other. Resources information environment used to implement the common perception models which reconstruct a picture of the world in the collective consciousness and create a uniform public relation to the phenomena of objective reality. In order to consolidate the group in the information environment of broadcast information, which unites the community in the fight against some of «they». In the evolution of public relations is a gradual reorganization of intergroup relations, which can store role variability. The social hierarchy of interpersonal relationships in modern society can simultaneously be representative of the diverse group of cells (to carry out various social roles) that create the possibility of finding common interests and opportunities of cooperation and mutual interaction between people in a globalized world.

Opis:
This article examines the nature of group identity in order to gain insight into the character and quality of intergroup contacts, particularly the conditions for positive contacts between members of different ethnic groups. An important conception underlying the discussion is that identity is not a stable construct or fixed essence, but rather is discursive in nature and turns upon how individuals and collectivities distinguish themselves in their relations with other individuals and collectivities. Both resemblance and difference are thus essential principles of social identity, while ethnic identity is distinct from culture and may be analyzed as a form of social organization. This heightens the importance of the degree of permeability of group boundaries, and of one’s relation with their own ethnic group, in minimizing prejudice and fostering interethnic relations. Analysis of field interviews with members of Bulgarian and Bulgarian Turkish ethnic groups provided the basis for the theoretical discussion concerning intergroup contacts. The interviews also serve to illustrate the inverse relationship between intergroup contacts and prejudices, as well as the fact that insofar as intergroup ethnic conflicts and perceived differences occur between narrative constructs, they can be transformed and resolved through openness towards differences and dialogue.
