    Four methods of forecasting: „no-change", LOESS, local linear regression and Holt-Winters were applied to annual minimum water levels observed at ten cross-sections of two tributaries of the Vistula river. The 1-, 2-, ..., 5-year forecasts were made for each year after some initial year, and four quality measures: bias, root mean square error, mean absolute error and maximum absolute error were calculated for each time series and lead time. The naïve model turned out to be always the worst in it bias and almost always very good, sometimes the best regarding the other measures.

    Opis:
    This article presents improving the existing system of planning finished products sales volumes. The influencing factors of the sales volumes in modern economic conditions have been determined: falling world oil prices, the reduction of pipe consumption in the domestic market, the global pandemic. The algorithm of planning finished products sales volumes has been constructed. Calculations based on the Holt forecasting method has been done, which allows to make forecast with trend. Calculations based on real data have been conducted, the model has been adapted to modern pandemic conditions, and impact factors have been identified. The plan of finished products sales volumes with factors of influence has been made. Forecast results obtained have been corrected and presented on periods and on markets. System of planning finished product sales volumes at industrial enterprises in modern economic conditions has been improved.
    W artykule zaproponowano usprawnienie istniejącego systemu planowania sprzedaży wyrobów gotowych. Określane są czynniki wpływające na wielkość sprzedaży we współczesnych warunkach ekonomicznych: spadek światowych cen ropy naftowej, zmniejszenie zużycia rur na rynku krajowym, globalna pandemia. Konstruowany jest algorytm planowania wielkości realizacji wyrobów gotowych. Obliczenia dokonywane są w oparciu o metodę prognozowania Holta, która pozwala na wykonanie prognozy z uwzględnieniem trendu. Przeprowadzono obliczenia na podstawie rzeczywistych danych, model dostosowano do współczesnych warunków pandemii i zidentyfikowano czynniki wpływu. Sporządza się plan wielkości produkcji z uwzględnieniem czynników wpływu, koryguje otrzymane prognozy oraz przedstawia wyniki okresowe i według rynków. Usprawniono system planowania wolumenów sprzedaży wyrobów gotowych w przedsiębiorstwach przemysłowych w nowoczesnych warunkach ekonomicznych.

    The intensive use of water resources and the transformation of natural landscapes under the influence of human economic activity have led to changes in the natural water balance of river drainage basins. The negative processes thereof are intensified by climatic changes that have significantly disturbed the hydrological regime, determined by changes in water content and river flow dynamics. The retrospective study and prediction of the flow of the Dnieper River was carried out using multivariate statistics and adaptive methods of nonlinear time series analysis. The anomalous features were identified and the main periods of changes in the water regime of the river for 190 years (1818–2008) were determined using the standard root-mean-square deviation and wavelet analysis. As a result of non-linear prediction, it was determined that if the tendency of anthropogenic and climatic formation of the water regime of the Dnieper River sustains, there is a 90% probability of insignificant but steady trend and cyclical reduction of the average annual flow by 1.6 m3/s per year to 1120 ± 270 m3/s by 2040. The results of the detailed retrospective analysis for 190 years and the prediction of the probability of changes in the flow of the Dnieper river confirm the previous conclusions of many scientists regarding the significant transformation of the ecosystem of the transboundary river and provide new knowledge regarding the main stages of formation of the water regime and the probability of further regulation of the flow of the Dnieper river if the current conditions of the negative impact of economic activities are maintained in the transboundary basin.

    Opis:
    Forecasting future values of economic variables are some of the most critical tasks of a country. Especially the values related to foreign trade are to be forecasted efficiently as the need for planning is great in this sector. The main objective of this research paper is to select an appropriate model for time series forecasting of total import (in taka crore) of Bangladesh. The decision throughout this study is mainly concerned with seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model, Holt-Winters’ trend and seasonal model with seasonality modeled additively and vector autoregressive model with some other relevant variables. An attempt was made to derive a unique and suitable forecasting model of total import of Bangladesh that will help us to find forecasts with minimum forecasting error.

    Zasadniczym celem niniejszego artykułu było wyznaczenie prognozy miesięcznego średniego kursu kupna USD. Zrealizowano go, opierając się na szczegółowych badaniach dotyczących analizy porównawczej jakości prognoz wyznaczonych różnymi metodami. Do badania wykorzystano dane od stycznia 2010 do września 2012 roku, pochodzące ze strony internetowej Narodowego Banku Polskiego. Początkowo je przeanalizowano, dokonano dekompozycji analizowanego szeregu czasowego. Następnie wyznaczono prognozę miesięcznego średniego kursu kupna USD, wykorzystując między innymi takie metody, jak zmodyfikowany model metody naiwnej oraz model Holta. Dalej przeprowadzono ocenę jakości otrzymanych prognoz i dokonano rekomendacji zbudowanych modeli prognostycznych.
    The principal aim of the paper was to determine the forecast of monthly average USD buying rate. However, the specific objective of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the quality of forecasts obtained with different methods. In the study data from the period from January 2010 to September 2012, from the website of the National Polish Bank were used. First, the data were collected, then the analyzed time series was decomposed. Next, the forecast of monthly average USD buying rate was determined with the usage of such methods as the modified model of naive method and the Holt model. Afterwards the assessment of the quality of the forecasts and recommendations of forecasting models were built.

    The article discusses forecasting as one of the special scientific research areas which contribute to the assessment of tourist activity development prospects, the identification of key tourism development factors and effective management decision criteria. The study provides an overview of modern research methods used in Russia and other countries for making forecasts in the field of tourism. It aims at assessing the predictive capabilities of adaptive modeling, not frequently used currently in tourism research, for the quantitative analysis of tourist flows using the example of Barcelona, a major urban tourist destination in the pre-pandemic period. An example of a forecast for tourist numbers based on adaptive models is proposed, one of the key indicators showing tourist region success which have proven successful in the study of processes with a dynamic but unstable character.
    Autorki omawiają prognozowanie jako szczególny obszar badań naukowych, który pomaga ocenić perspektywy rozwoju aktywności turystycznej, zidentyfikować kluczowe czynniki procesu zmian zachodzących w turyzmie oraz kryteria efektywnego zarządzania. Artykuł zawiera przegląd nowoczesnych metod badawczych stosowanych w Rosji i w innych krajach do sporządzania prognoz w dziedzinie turystyki. Celem opracowania jest ocena predyktywnych możliwości modelowania adaptacyjnego, obecnie niezbyt często stosowanego w badaniach turystycznych, do przeprowadzania ilościowej analizy ruchu turystycznego. Na podstawie danych dotyczących Barcelony – dużego miejskiego centrum turystycznego w czasach przed pandemią – opierając się na modelach adaptacyjnych, przedstawiono przykład prognozy liczby podróżnych. Jest to jeden z głównych wskaźników sukcesu turystycznego ujawnionego w trakcie badania procesów o dynamicznym, lecz niestałym charakterze.
