Opis:
The tidal measurements at the Astro-Geodetic Observatory in Jozefoslaw began in 1993 with LaCoste&Romberg G model. Nowadays the Observatory is equipped with ET-26 spring gravimeter. The use of results depends on correct determination of the scale of tidal records which should have relatively high accuracy. The most frequently used method for calibration of tidal gravimeters with more or less regular drift is comparison to the absolute measurements. The repeated absolute gravity measurements with the FG5 No. 230 gravimeter at the Observatory in Jozefoslaw were used for computing calibration factors of the tidal gravimeters using least-squares fitting. The scales of the tidal gravimeters were determined from 8 2-day absolute campaigns performed between October 2006 and May 2007 with the accuracy of about 10%.

Opis:
Joint inversion is a widely used geophysical method that allows model parameters to be obtained from the observed data. Pareto inversion results are a set of solutions that include the Pareto front, which consists of non-dominated solutions. All solutions from the Pareto front are considered the most feasible models from which a particular one can be chosen as the final solution. In this paper, it is shown that models represented by points on the Pareto front do not reflect the shape of the real model. In this contribution, a collective approach is proposed to interpret the geometry of models retrieved in inversion. Instead of choosing single solutions from the Pareto front, all obtained solutions were combined in one “heat map”, which is a plot representing the frequency of points belonging to all returned objects from the solution set. The conducted experiment showed that this approach limits the problem of equivalence and is a promising way of representing the geometry of the model that was retrieved in the inversion process.

In the article the requirements to system for airborne gravimetry are formulated. A system for airborne gravimetry must consist of fivefunctional subsystems for 1) specific force measurement, 2) geometric stabilization, 3) terrestrial navigation, 4) altimetry, and 5) computation. The general error of measurements of gravitational anomalies does not exceed 10 mgal. The accuracy requirement to main bodies of the block diagram of system for airborne gravimetry are determined based on analysis of errors of measurements.

Opis:
Propellants consisting of nitrocellulose and/or other nitric esters are inherently chemically unstable and undergo decomposition even under standard storage conditions. Decomposition of such compounds can be inhibited or nearly stopped when stabilizers are used. However, conventional stabilizers form nitrosamines that have toxic and carcinogenic effects. A nitrocellulose based propellants contained new nontoxic stabilizers were prepared on this account. The new stabilizers are epoxidized oils (soybean oil, linseed oil and mixture fatty acids, C14-22). The chemical structure of the new stabilizers and their decomposition products should prevent the formation of toxic N-nitrosamines. We prepared double base propellants and these powders were investigated using Microcalorimetry, Conventional Stability Tests and Sensitivity Tests. The results were compared with propellants containing the conventional stabilizer akardite II. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were also performed. These analyses are very important next to the Conventional Stability Tests and Sensitivity Tests. Therefore, this paper presents qualitative and quantitative analyses results of the new substances as stabilizers for propellants. We studied options of oils stabilizers determination and mechanism of stabilization of propellants by oils. Paper describes quantitative analyses results of other substances in propellants (nitroglycerin and solvents) too and options of samples modifcation before analyses.

Pomerania Gravity Low
ideal body analysis
northern Poland
Opis:
The large negative residual Bouguer gravity anomaly in northern Poland called the Pomerania Gravity Low (PGL) was analysed using Parker's ideal body theory. A residual gravity anomaly along the profile was inverted to find bounds on the density contrast, depth, and minimum thickness of its sources. As the ideal body reaches the surface, the greatest maximum negative density contrast is -0.038 g/cm3, while the body itself has a thickness of 52 km. If 8 km is taken as a depth to the source body top, the density contrast must correspond to at least -0.092 g/cm3, with a maximum allowable thickness of 18 km. The ideal body inversions show that the depth to the body top cannot exceed 15 km. Assuming a geologically reasonable maximum density contrast as small as -0.2 g/cm3, the source body top can be no deeper than 11.5 km, and its thickness greater than or equal to 6 km, assuming it extends up to the Earth surface, or greater than or equal to 7 km, when its top is below 8 km depth. It can be hypothesized that the main source of the negative gravity anomaly is reIated to a predominance of felsic rocks in the Paleoproterozoic Dobrzyń Domain of the East European Platform basement.

Artykuł jest kontynuacją i rozwinięciem badań autora prowadzonych w latach 2008-2012. Publikacja zawiera interpretację anomalii grawimetrycznych w rejonie zlikwidowanych szybów górniczych z wykorzystaniem modelowania i analizy odwrotnej. Do przeprowadzenia badań wybrano zlikwidowany szyb „Wschodni” i „Władysław”.
This paper is a continuation and development of the author´s tests conducted in 2008-2012 (Kortas, 2008, 2012). It includes an interpretation of gravimetric anomalies in the area of the closed mine shafts with modeling and reverse analysis. The closed “Wschodni” shaft and “Władysław” shaft were used in the research. The analysis of the registered anomalies used model research in order to find the best possible matches of the modeled gravity effect to the measurements´ results. Matching in case of “Wschodni” shaft was less satisfactory, mainly because of the incorrect selection of traverse. The results of modeling in the case of “Władysław” shaft were close to the measuring data. In indicates the usability of the presented method in the interpretation of gravimetric data. The last part of this paper presents the resulting recommendations during exploration of the post-shaft void by use of gravimetric method.

Opis:
The purpose of this investigation was to examine the influence of sodium hyaluronate (HA) solution on contact lens dehydration and the distribution of water in lens materials. These parameters were measured with gravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry. Five commercial soft contact lenses were used. They represented four FDA (Federal Drug Administration) groups: Air Optix Night&Day Aqua and Acuvue Oasys (I FDA group), Proclear 1-Day (II FDA group), PureVision (III FDA group) and 1-Day Acuvue Moist (IV FDA group). All materials were investigated with two preservative-free HA solutions 0.1% and 0.3%. HA solutions influenced the water content and the dehydration rate of some examined lenses. For three lenses (Oasys, Proclear, Moist) water content of HA lenses was greater than control. Significant slowdown of dehydration rate under HA during the first 20min was observed only for Proclear. PhaseI of dehydration increased significantly with HA solutions in case of Moist and Proclear. For Night&Day and Oasys phaseI appeared under HA solution while it was not present for control lenses. Duration of the phaseI was strongly correlated with water content of the lenses (R2=0.844). The amount of freezable and non-freezable water depended strongly on characteristics of lens material and its interaction with HA molecules. Proclear seems to be the most prone to attach HA molecules which affect changes in dehydration characteristics and water behavior in the polymer. PureVision might be considered as the most resistant to HA in terms of dehydration dynamics and water distribution. All measured parameters seem to be dependent more on material properties than HA concentration.

Opis:
For last two centuries the role of gravity measurements in geodesy was continuously growing with the development of physical geodesy, growing needs for precise geodetic products and progress in technology. A very condensed historical review of gravimetric surveys with their uncertainty characteristics is given in the paper. It starts with single gravity measurements using simple pendulum through the application of reversible pendulum up to four-pendulum apparatus. Superiority of relative gravity survey over absolute gravity survey using pendulum has been highlighted. Further, the development of static spring gravimeters is briefly presented followed by precise ballistic gravimeters that provide more accurate gravity than relative gravity survey and become a valuable tool for geodynamic research. The concept of superconducting gravimeter and its role in geodynamic research is highlighted. Special emphasis is given to the portable free-fall gravimeter A10 designed for field survey. Also the achievements in the direction of developing atomic absolute gravimeters are briefly mentioned. The evolution of the concept and realization of the gravity control is discussed on the background of the progress in gravimetry, paying special attention on its scale and gravity level. It is illustrated with some examples of evolving Polish national gravity control. Finally an attempt to formulate the concept of modern gravity control is presented.

The inhibition of mild steel corrosion in 1 M sulphuric acid media by ethanolic extracts of Ipomoea batatas was investigated using the gravimetric and gasometric methods. The extracts recorded an inhibition efficiency of 61.1 % and 52.6 % at room temperature for the gravimetry and the gasometry respectively. The inhibition process was initiated by the physical adsorption of the inhibitor extracts to the metal surface and the data obtained fitted very well into the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Activities of the Polish research gSDroups concerning gravity field modelling and gravimetry in a period of 2015–2018 are reviewed and summarised in this paper. The summary contains the results of research on the evaluation of GOCE-based global geopotential models (GGMs) in Poland and geoid modelling. Extensive research activities are observed in the field of absolute gravity surveys, in particular for the maintenance of national gravity control in Poland, Sweden, Denmark, the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland as well as for geodynamics with special emphasis on metrological aspects in absolute gravimetry. Long term gravity variations were monitored in two gravimetric laboratories: the Borowa Gora Geodetic-Geophysical Observatory, and Jozefoslaw Astrogeodetic Observatory with the use of quasi-regular absolute gravity measurements as well as tidal gravimeter records. Gravity series obtained were analysed considering both local and global hydrology effects. Temporal variations of the gravity field were investigated using data from GRACE satellite mission as well as SLR data. Estimated variations of physical heights indicato the need for kinematic realization of reference surface for heights. Also seasonal variability of the atmospheric and water budgets in Poland was a subject of investigation in terms of total water storage using the GLDAS data. The use of repeatable absolute gravity data for calibration/validation of temporal mass variations derived from satellite gravity missions was discussed. Contribution of gravimetric records to seismic studies was investigated. The bibliography of the related works is given in references.

Opis:
The article presents the results of measurements of gravity performed in the Astronomical and Geodetic Observatory Józefosław. Time series have been verified for parameters related to celestial bodies, atmospheric pressure changes and metrological factors. The analysis of these changes includes geodynamic and hydrological aspects taking into account global and local changes in groundwater levels. The aim of the article is to indicate the interpretation of contemporary measurements of gravity field against the contemporary accuracy of such measurements and to indicate the need for information on the level of groundwater (collected by the Polish Hydrogeological Survey) in procedures for the elaboration and interpretation ofgravimetric measurements and supportfrom hydrogeologists. Contemporary the gravity measurements with use of absolute gravimeters gives possibility determination of gravity value with uncertainty of the order 10-8 ms-2. Such accuracy corresponds to a vertical displacement of a point of less than 1 cm or a change in the water level of 2.5 cm. Use of gravimetric methods in the broadly understood Earth sciences must be supported by information related to changes in mass distribution around the measuring station, mainly related to the groundwater level changes. This allows to see the role of hydrogeological information related to the monitoring of groundwater as an indispensable information describing changes in the Earth’s gravity field.
