Opis:
The recent years have seen numerous developments in the research and headway of graphene, the thinnest two-dimensional nuclear material. Graphene-based materials and their composites have promising applications in an extensive variety of fields; for example, gadgets, biomedical guides, films, adaptable wearable sensors, and actuators. The most recent investigations and movement in this branch of knowledge regularly deliver conflicting or uncertain outcomes. This article evaluates and outlines the distributed information in order to give a basic and complete diagram of the cutting edge. Initially, the particular basic nature of accessible graphene materials is illustrated as well as the distinctive generation methods accessible thus far. The appraisal at that point talks about the different composites that center diverse sub-practical routines; for example, mechanical and aggregate utilitarian applications (e.g., vitality, hardware biomedical, layers, and sensors). The use of graphene and its subsidiaries in the fabricate of nanocomposites with various polymer frameworks has been inspected. And finally, an ending and point of view are given to talking about the rest of the difficulties for graphene nanocomposites in useful science and building.

Opis:
Graphene is no doubt called a wonder-material due to its outstanding superlative traits. It has its application near about in every field. Its properties are extraordinary and different from any day-to-day material. Albeit bearing such qualities, its structure is rather simple than most individuals cerebrate of. It has a thickness of an atom. It is a two-dimensional carbon arranged in a honeycomb crystal structure. It could transmute the way we view, in numerous fields of science. Its applications can be an asset to a greener environment for which Graphene engineered cement/concrete composites have an immense potential in the present times when sustainable construction materials are the need of the hour. Graphene can act as a good adsorbent for pollutant abstraction due to its high surface area. Either alone or in coalescence with different materials, it very well may be used for the debasement or deliberation of a sizably voluminous assortment of contaminants through a few strategies. Incipient heights can be achieved as the list of operations for graphene is virtually illimitable. Utilization of graphene in the coming years will give inundating difference to current technologies. This paper fixates on the applications and developments of Graphene in fields like Electronics, Batteries, Filtration, Medicine, Construction, and Composites.

Visibility and simple optical diagnostics possibilities of graphene layers on dielectric and semiconductor substrates at the Brewster angle are analyzed. The analysis is based on a numerical simulation. Several oxide semiconductors (ITO, ZnO, TiO2), weakly absorbing Si, and strongly absorbing GaAs are considered. It is shown that at the Brewster angle the optical contrast of graphene flakes on a bare semiconductor substrate is actually strong enough to see them under an optical microscope and there is really no need to create an additional interference film on the substrate.

Opis:
Graphene applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices have been thoroughly and intensively studied since graphene discovery. Thanks to the exceptional electronic and optical properties of graphene and other two-dimensional (2D) materials, they can become promising candidates for infrared and terahertz photodetectors. Quantity of the published papers devoted to 2D materials as sensors is huge. However, authors of these papers address them mainly to researches involved in investigations of 2D materials. In the present paper this topic is treated comprehensively with including both theoretical estimations and many experimental data. At the beginning fundamental properties and performance of graphene-based, as well as alternative 2D materials have been shortly described. Next, the position of 2D material detectors is considered in confrontation with the present stage of infrared and terahertz detectors offered on global market. A new benchmark, so-called “Law 19”, used for prediction of background limited HgCdTe photodiodes operated at near room temperature, is introduced. This law is next treated as the reference for alternative 2D material technologies. The performance comparison concerns the detector responsivity, detectivity and response time. Place of 2D material-based detectors in the near future in a wide infrared detector family is predicted in the final conclusions.

Opis:
This study discusses the synthesis, characterization and development of self-healing nanocomposite of amino-terminated PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane), Epoxy (EPON828 ̧ Diethylenetriamine (DETA)), and Graphene Oxide (GO). GO was prepared using a modified Hummer’s method and was incorporated into the PDMS-Epoxy composite in various ratios (0.1 wt.%, 0.3 wt.%, and 0.5 wt.%) using toluene as the dispersing medium. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy was used for confirming the presence of the designed/prepared structures, and thermo-mechanical analysis was performed to test the change in glass transition temperature and initiation temperature of self-healing process. The composite resins were coated on mild steel substrates by curing freshly prepared resins over the substrates at elevated temperatures. The corrosion behavior of mild steel in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution before and after the coatings was studied using Tafel Electrochemical Polarization test. The self-healing properties of the materials were also studied by applying cuts on the material and letting them heal under elevated temperatures, and the results showed that the prepared coating demonstrated an effective corrosion resistance for mild steel for various marine applications

Opis:
Sulphur hexafluoride, SF₆ gas has excellent physical and chemical properties and insulation arc extinction performance. It has been widely used in electric power systems and other electrical equipment due to such advantages, as compact size and high reliability. SF₆, can be decomposed into different gases, when the equipment exhibits arc discharge, local heating of contactor, and partial discharge. It is important to detect decomposition of insulating gas SF₆, caused by partial discharges for gas-insulated switchgear. Partial discharge in gas-insulated switchgear can lead to the generation of multiple decomposition products of SF₆, and the detection and analysis of these decomposition products is important for fault diagnosis. The detection of decomposition components is needed to maintain on-line running state monitoring. Recently, interest in carbon nanotubes has been rapidly growing in various scientific and engineering fields, because of their faster response, higher sensitivity, lower operating temperature and a wider variety of detectable gas. In this paper, a molecular dynamics simulation software package, Materials Studio, is used to model accurately the processes by which single-walled carbon nanotubes could detect studied gases. All calculations were performed using the DMol³module of the Materials Studio. We compute the preferential adsorption sites, bonding configurations, and adsorption geometry for molecular adsorption. Results of analysis of electrical characteristics reveal that SWCNTs show different responses to the decomposed gases.

This paper presents the results of preliminary tests on specimens made from mixtures of dendritic copper powder (CuE) with the graphene-coated copper powder (CuG) in a range from 20% to 100% (CuG). The properties of the powder mixtures, green compacts and sinters were determined. To study the properties of the powder mixtures, the following tests were carried out: a measurement of the CuG powder grain size after the grinding process, measurements of the bulk density and tap density of the prepared powder mixtures. The porosity of the produced green compacts and the sinters was calculated as well as the densification capabilities of the powder mixtures by die pressing, cold isostatic pressing and sintering in a reducing atmosphere were tested. Moreover, the nature of the porosity formation was analysed using an optical microscope and the Brinell hardness was determined. The measured Brinell hardness was in the range of 17 HB for sinters made from CuG to 34 HB for sinters made from a 20% CuG powder mixture. More than six hundred measurements that were made in this study show that the high CuG content in the powder mixture reduces the hardness of the sinters as well as increase their porosity.
W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki wstępnych badań próbek wykonanych z mieszanin proszku miedzi dendrytycznej (CuE) z proszkiem miedzi pokrytym strukturą węglową zawierającą grafen (CuG) w przedziale od 20% do 100% (CuG).

Opis:
Badano adsorpcję dynamiczną trzech barwników: oranżu metylowego (OM), oranżu II (OII) i błękitu metylenowego (BM) z roztworów wodnych na czterech materiałach węglowych. Były to: zredukowany tlenek grafenu (rGO) otrzymany metodą chemiczną, mikroporowaty węgiel otrzymany z prekursora polimerowego – sulfonowanej żywicy styrenowo-diwinylobenzenowej (AC-SDVB), mezoporowaty, uporządkowany materiał węglowy otrzymany metodą miękkiego odwzorowania z żywicy fenolowo-formaldehydowej (OMC-PF) oraz handlowy węgiel aktywny (AC-F400). W dynamicznych badaniach kolumnowych wyznaczono krzywe przebicia tych adsorbentów, a do opisu krzywych przebicia złoża węgla wykorzystano równania Thomasa oraz Yoona-Nelsona. Wykorzystane równania Thomasa i Yoona-Nelsona dobrze opisywały krzywe przebicia złoża węgla (R2=0,97÷0,99).
Dynamic adsorption of three dyes was studied: methyl orange (OM), orange II (OII) and methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions on four carbon materials. These were: reduced graphene oxide (rGO) obtained by the chemical method, microporous carbon prepared from a polymeric precursor – sulfonated styrene-divinyl benzene resin (AC-SDVB), ordered mesoporous carbon material obtained by soft templating from phenol-formaldehyde resin (OMC-PF) and the commercial activated carbon (AC-F400). Breakthrough curves for the above adsorbents were determined in dynamic column experiments and Thomas and Yoon-Nelson equations were used to describe them. Dynamic dye adsorption values were high, especially for AC-SDVB microporous activated carbon and reduced graphene oxide. The highest dynamic adsorption was demonstrated for the reduced graphene oxide, rGO, which adsorbed 706 mg/g of orange II. The equations of Thomas and Yoon-Nelson well described the breakthrough curves for the carbon bed with correlation coefficients R2 = 0,97÷0,99.

Opis:
Purpose: The paper presents the issues of designing the maintenance of materials and products in accordance with the idea of Industry 4.0. The author's views on the need for augmentation of the Industry 4.0 model were also presented, as well as the author's original concept that hybrid activities in predictive maintenance and condition-based maintenance should be preceded by designing material, maintenance & manufacturing 3MD at the stage of the product's material designing and technological designing. The 3MD approach significantly reduces the frequency of assumed actions, procedures and resources necessary to remain the condition of this product for the longest possible time, enabling it to perform the designed working functions. Examples of own advanced research on several selected, newly developed materials, used in very different areas of application, confirmed the validity of the scientific hypothesis and the relationship between the studied phenomena and structural effects and the working functions of products and their maintenance and indicated that material design is one of the most important elements guaranteeing progress production at the stage of Industry 4.0 of the industrial revolution. Design/methodology/approach: The author's considerations are based on an extensive literature study and the results of the author's previous study and empirical work. Each of the examples given required the use of a full set of research methods available to modern material engineering, including HRTEM high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Findings: The most interesting intellectual achievements contained in the paper include presentations of the author's original concepts regarding the augmentation of the Industry 4.0 model, which has been distributed so far, which not only requires augmentation but is actually only one of the 4 elements of the technology platform of the extended holistic model of current industrial development, concerning cyber-IT production aided system. The author also presents his own concept for designing material, maintenance and manufacturing 3MD already at the stage of material and technological design of the product, eliminating many problems related to product maintenance, even before they are manufactured and put into exploitation. Detailed results of detailed structural researches of several selected avant-garde engineering materials and discussion of structural changes that accompanying their manufacturing and/or processing are also included. Originality/value: The originality of the paper is associated with the novelty of the approach to analysing maintenance problems of materials and products, taking into account the requirements of the contemporary stage of Industry 4.0 development. The value of the paper is mainly associated with the presentation of original issues referred to as findings, including the concept of augmentation of the Industry 4.0 model and the introduction and experimental confirmation of the idea by designing material, maintenance and manufacturing 3MD.
