    Pope John Paul II in his teaching code of politics guided by conscience. It is based on four pillars are: peace, justice, solidarity and freedom. According to the Pope, they indicate the priorities of political activity, such as the prevention of unemployment and social exclusion, care for families and people with disabilities, economic development. The key to the whole social question is job. The key to peace is dialogue, education and equitable distribution of wealth. Everything can be achieved if the appropriate law is established. That is the reason why World needs MPs who are people of conscience. To be impartial, competent and acting in a spirit of service should be the priority for them. Follow that way they give witness to their faith and impeccable ethical attitude.

    The experience the „Polish August 1980" was met with an interesting reflection and civic engagement on the part of Józef Tischner. This Cracovian philosopher and Catholic Priest is the author of the book „The Ethics of Solidarity". He introduced the concept of solidarity as a moral bond that occurs between people. Its implementation in times of communist oppression was associated with the concept of „bad policy." Tischner believed that in times of restored democracy (good politics) solidarity ties would be easier in practice, which turned out to be more complex. In the later period of reflection Tischner did not seem to appreciate the socio-political aspects of the ethos of solidarity, which would allow for the active participation of State.

    The main issue of the article is the great change in the regional policy of China in the 20th century. The author claims that this policy evolved from the ideology of sinocentrism, where border countries were assumed as „peripheral areas" more or less dependent on China. As soon as Mao Zedong took the power, sinocentrism was used in the communistic ideology and became the basis of expansive policy towards the border states. Chinese government perceived its influence on the world in the three concentric circles: the first - „robbed" areas, which mainly consisted of the border countries, the second - Asian countries which were potential subjects of the Chinese supremacy, and the third - the whole world with China as the global empire. The sinocentric ideology of three circles combined with communistic propaganda led straightly into regional wars. In the 80s of the last century the great change in the regional and border policy of China took place. The author claims that the main reason for this change is the evolution of Chinese conception of power from relying only on military potential towards creating the secure international surrounding of China. This conception stressed the worth of strong economical binds between China and border countries. Economical modernization of China resulted in the „good neighbourhood" policy. The new border policy of China can be divided into three periods: from the early 80s till 1989, from 1989 till 1997 and the last - after 1997. In the first period of the new regional policy the Chinese government neglected the ideology as the political factor. That was the time when economical reforms had already begun. The beginning of the second period is related with the event on the Tiananmen and the end of the cold war. Those facts forced China to adapt its regional policy to new reality In 1997 the great breakthrough in the regional relations between China and border states took place. The author mentions two reasons for this situation. The first was the economic crisis in Asia, when the Chinese government decided to offer great financial help towards neighbour states. This fact highly improved relations and helped to develop cooperation between countries in the surrounding of China. The second reason was creation of „New Conception of National Security of China", which was based on mutual trust and binds of common interests between regional countries. The regional and boarder policy of China has strongly developed during centuries. However in the last years the certain priorities of this policy has been defined. The Chinese government combined the new vision of „Great China" with the „good neighbourhood policy". After so many years China realized that military expansion and war is not the proper way to create long-lasting peace and national security. The best solution to ensure secure international surrounding is development of cross-border cooperation together with mutual trust and understanding of countries in region.

    Politics can fulfill its mission only if it's work of building and improving the new world will be based on the strong foundations, which guarantee proper understanding of the good. It is a about human good, especially the common good. This common good deter¬mines the final justification of improving or building the world. These presented reflections focus on an issue of whether and how can this improvement of the temporal reality, be revived by the spirit of the Gospel? Good is the integral part of politics. Politics, according to its ethical approach, can be defined as a prudent concern for the common good. However, a Christian involved in politics should have an awa¬reness that the common good, a basic category of politics, is not confined to the temporal reality. It is as well transcendental, spi¬ritual and supernatural. It finds it's ultimate explanation in personal human good. The good of a human being is expressed by the quality of relationship between man and Creator, as well as in his vocation to the eternal happiness, and in his communion with the Triune God. Prudent concern for this good determines the most important sense of the politics conducted in a Christian spirit. It makes that involvement in the political sphere becomes a selfless service to the human being and society. In this perspective, as a matter of priority must be considered a necessity to properly discern the themes of Christian presence in politics. The criteria for political involvement of Christians are also important in this matter. The discernment of these criteria largely depends on the political sense, which as such, is shared by all people. These are the basic ideas presented in this article. Their objective is to identify the qualified nature as well as the necessity of politics conducted in a Christian way.

    Defining politics as prudent implementation of the common good has a long tradition. This is the spirit in which politics was understood by Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics and – later on – by the great Christian thinkers with Augustine and Thomas Aquinas as the most prominent examples. It was them that Father Professor Mieczysław Albert Krąpiec referred to in his dissertations on politics. His viewpoint on politics is marked by two elements. First, it is seeing the common good as the personal development of a human being. Only when understood this way, may the common good be real good for each individual person and at the same time – real good for the entire community. Second, it is acknowledging that the method of implementing the common good must be determined by the virtue of prudence. For it is prudence, including “past experience, the skill of reading and understanding the present in the context of other people and consideration for the consequences of one’s intended actions”, that enables one to choose such methods of organizing the social, economic and cultural life as well as any other public sphere, which will actually facilitate the self-improvement of a human being.

    The main aim of this paper is to point out that the concept of Tadeusz Kotarbiński’s praxeology is still valid. The so-called theory of efficient operation, which can also be specified as the theory of “good work,” can be treated as a tool for reflection in political science. In this text the Kotarbiński’s concept is applied to the study of politics. It turns out that the social and political activities can be interpreted as a kind of “good job.” Of course, they must be satisfied some conditions. First – Kotarbiński demands to determine the objective to be achieved. Second – on the basis of the objective to formulate specific and precise political plan. Thirdly – the plan must be effectively implemented. Detailed rules and recommended steps will be discussed in the text.
    Zasadniczym celem niniejszego tekstu jest wskazanie aktualności koncepcji prakseologii Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego. Teoria sprawnego działania, którą możemy określać również mianem teorii „dobrej roboty”, może być potraktowana jako narzędzie refleksji politologicznej. W niniejszym tekście koncepcja Kotarbińskiego zostaje zaaplikowana do badań nad polityką. Okazuje się, że również działalność społeczną i polityczną można postrzegać jako swego rodzaju „dobrą robotę”. Oczywiście muszą być spełnione odpowiednie warunki. Po pierwsze – Kotarbiński domaga się wyznaczenia celu działań, jakie mają być podjęte. Po drugie – na bazie niniejszego celu trzeba sformułować określony i precyzyjny plan polityczny. Po trzecie – plan ów trzeba w sposób skuteczny zrealizować. Szczegółowe zasady i wskazane etapy, o których mówi filozof, zostaną omówione w tekście.

Wynika to z właściwie rozpoznanej prawdy o naturze człowieka i społeczeństwa oraz świadomości roli polityki w realiach wspólnotowego życia zorganizowanego w ramach państwa. Domaganie się separacji dziedziny religii i polityki wynika bądź to z niewłaściwego rozumienia polityki, którą błędnie sprowadza się do działań mających na celu zdobycie i utrzymanie się przy władzy (często niemoralnych), bądź to z podejmowanych przez środowiska lewicowe prób krzewienia laicyzmu, maskowanych zazwyczaj postulatem neutralności światopoglądowej państwa.
    What is the proper relationship between religion and politics? If politics is understood as prudent concern for the common good, it follows that religion can and should interplay with politics. This conclusion derives from the properly recognised truth about the nature of man and the nature of society, and from the awareness of the role of politics in the human communities, organised in political units (states). Demands to separate religion and politics stem from incorrect understanding of politics merely as means (often immoral ones) for obtaining power and keeping it, or from the promotion of laicisation by leftist groups, usually under the guise of state ideological neutrality.

    The aim of the article is to indicate that there is quite strong support in the text of the Nicomachean Ethics for the argument that its inquiry is “political” rather than “ethical” in character – the textual evidence provides reasons to challenge the traditional belief that Aristotle separated ethics from politics and started the rise of ethics as a new branch of philosophy. In addition, one can posit a hypothesis (and this has already been done) that the reader, whom Aristotle had in mind while writing what we now know as the Ethics, was a politician-lawgiver (and not just any educated Greek or – which is even less probable – any human being). So the reader aimed at in the Ethics is the same as the reader aimed at in the Politics – a politician-lawgiver. The Ethics and the Politics are a two-part but inseparable compound that together make a textbook for a politician-lawgiver. Both parts should be read together because the one cannot be understood correctly (i.e. as closely as possible to the intentions of their author) without the other. Aristotle studies human good not from the point of view of the individual but from the point of view of the human community. The highest human good – the philosopher’s eudaimonia – is achieved not by individual effort (or not fundamentally by that) but as a result of good laws and a well-organized life in a polis.

    At its best education is dangerous because it offers young people and other actors the promise of racial and economic justice, a future in which democracy becomes inclusive and a dream in which all lives matter. In a healthy society universities should be subversive; they should go against the grain, and give voice to the voiceless, the unmentionable and the whispers of truth that haunt the apostles of unchecked power and wealth. Pedagogy should be disruptive and unsettling and push hard against the common sense vocabularies of neoliberalism and its regime of affective management.

    A political thought is an area of legitimate contribution of competitive ideas. Liberalism is often considered as one of the most significant and influential paradigm of our times. The common acceptance of liberal conception of negative liberty can be acknowledged as a proof of this tendency. At the same time clearly visible is the renaissance of republicanism and the conception of active participation in governance. The liberal and republican assumptions have similar roots but different social practices. The aim of this paper is to examine in contrast liberal and republican conceptions of freedom. The author discusses main categories of both political traditions: state, commonwealth, common good, citizen, individualism, law, limited power and freedom itself. The author attempts to compere republicanism and liberalism as the competitive political paradigms to show the dilemmas of modern states and societies where there is no common consensus referring to definition of liberty.

    Zagadnienie relacji między polityką i religią budzi szereg emocji i przeciwstawnych opinii. Analizowane jest zwykle na płaszczyźnie historycznej, socjologicznej lub politologicznej. W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę rozstrzygnięcia tytułowej kwestii w kontekście realistycznej antropologii filozoficznej. Uzasadnieniem wyboru tego aspektu jest przekonanie, że warunkiem właściwego ujęcia relacji „polityka – religia” jest rzetelne odczytanie prawdy o człowieku. Błędne ujęcia tej relacji dadzą się sprowadzić do trzech głównych postaci: 1) zatarcia granic między polityką a religią, przejawiającym się w sakralizowaniu polityki lub w upolitycznianiu religii; 2) ateizacji polityki, czyli dążenia do wyeliminowania religii ze wszystkich sfer ludzkiego życia; 3) „neutralności” traktującej religię jako sprawę prywatną i eliminującej ją ze sfery publicznej. U podstaw wszystkich tych ujęć można dostrzec jakąś postać błędu antropologicznego. Właściwe ujęcie relacji polityki i religii oddaje termin „autonomia”. Obejmuje strukturalną niezależność obu dziedzin oraz ich funkcjonalne podporządkowane dobru wspólnemu. Łącząca politykę i religię relacja dopełniania się w trosce o człowieka, wyznacza pole możliwego wzajemnego oddziaływania. Tworzy je sytuacja zagrożenia dobra wspólnego.
    The relationship between politics and religion is the subject of many heated debates, generating emotions and opposite views. It is usually analysed from the historical, sociological or politological perspectives. This article attempts to address it from the point of view of the realistic anthropological philosophy. The justification for such approach is the belief that the proper interpretation of this relationship is conditioned by the reliable reading of the truth about man. The mistaken interpretation of this relationship can assume the three main forms: 1) blurring the boundaries between politics and religion, leading to either the sacralisation of politics, or the politicisation of religion; 2) atheisation of politics, that is, the elimination of religion from every sphere of human life; 3) ”neutrality”, treating religion as a private matter and eliminating it from the public sphere. At the root of each of these forms lies one or another anthropological error. The proper interpretation of the relationship between politics and religion can be termed as ”autonomy”. It encompasses the structural independence of both subjects and their functional subjection to the common good. In their concern for man they play supplementary roles, which can determine their relationship, especially when the common good is in danger.

    In this article the assumptions of one of the versions of the commongood concept in terms of the dispersion of knowledge and uncertainty areanalyzed. The article also aims at showing the consequences in regard to moralattitudes in politics and economics which are drawn on the basis of the conceptsof this type. In the first part I expound the ontological assumptions which are thebasis for the analysis. In the second part the concept of common good in terms ofits own assumptions and in relation to the ontology developed in this article isdiscussed. In the third part I consider some general thoughts about the structureof the ethical tales and their reference.

    Z punktu widzenia teologii katolickiej istnieje pewien wpływ wyznawanej religii na działalność polityków. Ma on jednak wyraźne granice. Polityk katolik swą działalność winien realizować poprzez dbałość o zachowanie w prawie państwowym i praktyce życia społecznego obiektywnych norm moralnych, wypływających z prawa naturalnego, oraz przez roztropną troskę o dobro wspólne. Wierność tej zasadzie jest jedną z granic wpływu wyznawanej przez polityka religii na jego działanie. Drugą granicę winien dostrzegać w ciągłej świadomości odpowiedzialności za swą działalność, którą to odpowiedzialność ponosi nie tylko wobec społeczeństwa i sądów, ale nade wszystko wobec Boga.
    According to Catholic theology, religion has a certain role to play in politics, but within the strict confines. Catholic politician should advocate the inclusion and preservation of the objective moral norms, derived from the natural law, in the civil law and social life, and act prudently for the common good. His adherence to this rule marks one of the boundaries within which his religious convictions influence his political activities. He should be aware at all times that he is accountable not only to society and courts, but, first and foremost, to God.

    Jest to wykład, który został wygłoszony w Sejmie RP 15 kwietnia 2011 r. z okazji beatyfikacji Jana Pawła II. Wykład obejmuje dwie grupy zagadnień. Pierwsza grupa dotyczy prerogatyw, w których głos w sprawach polityki zabierał papież Jan Paweł II. Druga grupa obejmuje główne wątki problemowe w jego licznych wystąpieniach skierowanych do polityków. Papież zwrócił uwagę, że politycy w swoich działaniach powinni kierować się zasadą dobra wspólnego człowieka, zasadą pomocniczości, solidarności, sprawiedliwości i ochroną praw człowieka.
    This is the lecture which was presented at the seat of the Polish parliament on the 15th of April 2011 on the occasion of the beatification of John Paul II. The lecture contains two groups of issues. The first group concerns the prerogatives on which the Pope John Paul II took a voice in matters of politics. The second group includes the major problematic topics in his many speeches addressed to the politicians. The Pope pointed out that politicians in their activities should be guided by the principle of the common good of the human being, the principle of subsidiarity, solidarity, justice and protection of human rights.

    Przedmiotem niniejszej publikacji jest określenie znaczenia, jakie posiada dialog w ramach wspólnot politycznych. Ewangelizowanie stanowi obowiązek uczniów Chrystusa, którzy w ten sposób wchodzą w dialog ze światem, przepełniając doczesność wartościami transcendentnymi. Dialogiczna relacja chrześcijanina ze światem jest przedmiotem analiz teologii a także nauk społecznych. Dialogiczność struktur politycznych, ukształtowanych na fundamencie uwarunkowań osobowych, realizuje się nade wszystko w miłości społecznej. Obywatele inwestują w pewnym stopniu swoje zdolności i dobra na poczet wspólnoty. Artykuł jest podzielony na dwie części. Pierwsza z nich zawiera charakterystykę wartości dialogu w realiach społecznych. Przekaz informacji, mający na celu wypracowanie wspólnych rozwiązań, jest uwarunkowany zarówno nauką Chrystusową, jak też powstałą na jej kanwie teologią sytuowaną w ramach rzeczywistości społecznej. Główny temat części drugiej stanowi zagadnienie dialogiczności wspólnot politycznych, wynikającej z dobra wspólnego i miłości społecznej realizowanej w państwie.
    This paper analyses the importance of dialogue within political communities. The effort of evangelisation is a duty of all Christ’s followers and a mean to enter into a dialogue with the world by supplementing the domain of the mundane with transcendental values. The dialogic character of the relationship between Christian individuals and the world is one of the key foci of both Theology and the Social Science. The dialogic nature of the political structures whose basis are the interpersonal relationships is manifested above all in the social charity. Individuals make a kind of investment of their personal abilities and goods for the sake of their community. The article is divided into two chapters. The first one accounts for the importance of the dialogue in the social context. Participation in the process of sharing information and knowledge in order to reach an agreement for the sake of the communal benefit is a practical consequence of Christ’s message and the social theological thought it inspires. The latter chapter deals with the dialogic character of political communities as a consequence of pursuing the common good and the social charity.

    Polityka informacyjna uczelni publicznej spełnia dwa główne cele: służy wypełnianiu obowiązku informacyjnego oraz jest elementem kształtowania wizerunku i marki. Odnośnie do zarządzania uczelnią i wyzwań dobrego rządzenia, kształtowanie tej polityki wymaga pogodzenia postulatu skuteczności i efektywności z postulatem racjonalnego harmonizowania praktyki operacyjnej z potrzebami interesariuszy oraz otoczenia. Warto rozważać to w kontekście zrównoważonego zarządzania, w trzech ujęciach: ładu korporacyjnego, zrównoważonego rozwoju oraz harmonijnego doboru metod zarządzania. Zarówno znane przykłady, jak i luka pomiędzy praktyką a oczekiwaniami uzasadniają poszukiwanie modelu satysfakcjonującej polityki informacyjnej. Uczelnie publiczne są szczególnym przykładem takich potrzeb i dobrym polem do prowadzenia badań. W odróżnieniu od podmiotów administracji publicznej, które cechuje monopolistyczna pozycja, uczelnie konkurują między sobą i ich marka ma wpływ na popularność wśród interesariuszy zewnętrznych.
    Information policy of public university meets two main objectives: fulfilling an obligation to provide information and being a part of image and brand development. For the management of the university and in the context of challenges of good governance, the shaping of this policy requires a reconciliation of the postulate of the efficiency and effectiveness of the postulate of rational harmonizing operational practices with the needs of stakeholders and the environment. It should be considered in the context of sustainable management from three perspectives: corporation harmony, balanced management and harmonious selection of methods of management. Both publically known examples as the gap between practice and expectations justify search for a model of satisfactory information policy. Public universities are a particular example of such needs and a good field of research. In contrast to government entities, which are characterized by monopolistic position, universities compete with each other and their brand has an impact on the popularity among external stakeholders.

    Kościół przyjmuje rozumienie polityki jako służby człowieka i społeczności ludzkiej na rzecz, zadanej przez Boga, celowości poszczególnych ludzi w relacji do całej społeczności ludzkiej oraz celowości poszczególnych grup społecznych i całej ludzkości. Dodaje jednak od razu, że troska o dobro wspólne nie może wykluczać wpływu na władzę polityczną, czyli zdobycia i posiadania jej, a co więcej – wyraźnie do niej zobowiązuje. Ta odpowiedzialność za świat wpisana jest w liturgię kosmiczną i w konkretną celebrację liturgiczną, zwłaszcza eucharystyczną. W niej bowiem człowiek obdarowany życiem Bożym jest nieustannie wzywany do przemiany świata w duchu Ewangelii na drodze osobistego nawrócenia. Jak stwierdził Jan Paweł II: „«Głoszenie śmierci Pana aż nadejdzie» (1 Kor 11, 26) zakłada, iż wszyscy uczestniczący w Eucharystii podejmą zadanie przemiany życia, aby w pewnym sensie stało się ono całe eucharystyczne” (EdE 20). Chrystus, stając się pokarmem w Eucharystii, umocnienia wiernych w uczynieniu ich całego życia, osobistego i społecznego, liturgią, czyli miejscem uwielbienia Boga. Celebracja liturgiczna nie jest jednak miejscem i sposobem walki o władzę polityczną, co więcej – czynienie z niej trybuny politycznej, sprowadzanie do roli narzędzia konkretnej partii, niszczy całkowicie jej wymiar nadprzyrodzony i eschatologiczny. Liturgia, podobnie jak Kościół, jest miejscem i sposobem miłowania każdego człowieka przez Boga niezależnie od jego przynależności partyjnej.
    The Church defines politics as service for the good of man and mankind. The goal is to integrate the teleological dimension of the lives of individuals, as assigned to them by God, within the functioning of mankind as a whole, as well as the teleological dimension of community life in relation to mankind as a whole. The Church also adds that care for common good cannot preclude exerting influence on political power, that is on gaining and sustaining it. Moreover, the Church expresses an overt obligation that the faithful participate in political activities. This kind of responsibility for the world is part of cosmic liturgy and of each concrete liturgical celebration, especially that of the Eucharist. It is through the Eucharist that man is granted a chance to participate in the life of God and is constantly called to engage in changing the world in the spirit of the Gospel through individual metanoia. As stated by John Paul II: “Proclaiming the death of the Lord “until he comes” (1 Cor 11: 26) entails that all who take part in the Eucharist be committed to changing their lives and making them in a certain way completely ‘Eucharistic’” (EdE 20). Christ, making his presence in an Eucharistic meal, empowers the faithful to make their whole lives – personal and social—a liturgy, that is a meeting space for God and man. Nevertheless, liturgical celebration can never be an arena and a means of political strife. When liturgy becomes a tool in the hands of a particular political party its supernatural and eschatological dimension is completely destroyed. Similarly to the Church, the liturgy is a space and a method of God's granting His love to each man, irrespective of their political orientation.

    Solidarität Gottes mit dem Menschen ist Vorbild für die zwischenmenschliche Solidarität. Die in Polen entstandene Arbeiterbewegung „Solidarność” ist einerseits ein Ausdruck einer Gabe Gottes an jene Menschen und andererseits aber auch eine Gabe des Menschen an den anderen. Jene konstruktive Bewegung verdankt ihre Existenz u.a. dem Papst Johannes Paul II., der in exzellenter Weise das kommunistische Regime und seine materialistische Ideologie gekannt hat. Angesichts dessen war für die „neue Bewegung der Solidarität nicht nur Solidarität zwischen den Arbeitern notwendig, sondern auch Solidarität mit den Arbeitern”. Der Solidarität als einer „christliche Tugend” liegt die Friedensfrage zugrunde. Bereits Aristoteles erblickte in dem bonum commune das eigentliche Ziel des Staates. Sowohl in der griechischen als auch in der römischen Rechtstradition umfasste das Gemeinwohl inhaltlich sowohl alles existierende Gut des Staates und seiner Institutionen als auch den Menschen als Menschen und natürlich das höchste Gut, nämlich Gott selbst. Durch die Dehumanisierungs-, Säkularisierungs- oder um mit Heidegger zu sprechen durch die Temporalisierungsprozesse geriet das Verständnis vom bonum commune − in eine prinzipielle Krise. Als höchstes Gut galt nicht länger mehr das bonum commun0e, sondern entweder der „menschliche Verstand”, „die Materie”, „das Kapital”, „die Rasse” oder wie in der Neuen Linken die „totale Verweigerung”. Eine Rückkehr zum klassischen Verständnis des Gemeinwohls scheint heutzutage notwendiger denn je zu sein. Sehr hilfreich sind dabei die Werke des polnischen Humanisten Goslicius, der im XVI. Jahrhundert lebte. Er knüpfte an die zur damaligen Zeit noch vorherrschende klassische Rechtstradition an,, die in Gott die eigentliche Rechtsquelle und damit auch das höchste Gut sah, an dem sich das menschliche Streben nach dem bonum commune ausrichten soll. Deshalb war er der Überzeugung, dass ein guter Politiker „gütig”, „barmherzig”, „großzügig”, „freundlich”, „gastfreundlich”, „bescheiden”, „geduldig” und „beständig im Ertragen von Leid” sein soll, wenn er eine solidarische, d.h. an dem Gemeinwohl ausgerichtete Politik betreiben will. Goslicius betonte den höheren Rang des „bonum commune und der Dignität des Staates” gegenüber der „Macht und dem privaten Nutzen” des Politikers, der deshalb nicht „leichtsinnig”, „jähzornig”, „ungerecht”, „barbarisch”, „korrupt” sein darf. Joseph Ratzinger warnt in ähnlicher Weise heute die Politik vor der „Verabsolutierung der Macht, die dann anstatt dem Gemeinwohl zu dienen, letztlich zur Zerstörung des Rechts und der Moral führt”. Ein gutes Beispiel des dem Gemeinwohl mit Hingabe dienenden Politikers ist Robert Schuman († 1963), der ganz bewusst auf der Grundlage der „christlichen Moral” die Einigung Europas förderte. Welchen Lohn kann ein guter Politiker im Grunde erwarten? Nach Goslicius kann er sowohl ein irdisches als auch ein ewiges Glück erlangen. Denn, wenn der Mensch von Gott herkommt, dann kehrt er nach der Erfüllung seines Dienstes auf Erden zu ihm zurück. Der Lohn für einen treuen Dienst an das bonum commune ist also recht groß.

    Przedmiotem analizy są zawarte w dziennikach kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego poglądy na temat chrześcijańskiej służby Bogu, bliźnim i ojczyźnie z punktu widzenia czasu jego życia i działalności oraz ich ponadczasowej aktualności. Zwrócenie uwagi na socjalizacyjne oraz społeczno-polityczne źródła i głębię mądrości Prymasa Tysiąclecia pozwala na zrozumienie uwikłania jego życia w złożoność konfliktów społeczno-politycznych w dziejach powojennej Polski. Jest to zarazem szansa na przywrócenie w dyskursie naukowym roli chrześcijańskiej pedagogiki i nauczania społecznego Kościoła katolickiego w świetle ustawicznie eksponowanych przez zmieniające się siły politycznej władzy różnice światopoglądowe obywateli oraz potrzeby budowania jedności państwa dla dobra wspólnego. Konieczna jest refleksja na temat skutków sporów politycznych, w które uwikłana jest także pedagogika i praktyka wychowawcza różnych środowisk społecznych.
    Pedagogy of Christian service to God, neighbor and the homeland of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński. The subject of the analysis are the views contained in the diaries of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński on the subject of Christian service to God, neighbor and homeland from the point of view of his life and activity, and their timeless topicality. By paying attention to the socialization and socio-political sources and the depth of wisdom of the Primate of the Millennium, it is possible to understand the entanglement of his life in the complexity of socio-political conflicts in the history of post-war Poland. It is also a chance to restore the role of Christian pedagogy and social teaching of the Catholic Church in the scientific discourse in the light of the world-outlook differences among citizens constantly exposed by the changing forces of political power and the need to build the unity of the state for the common good. It is necessary to reflect on the effects of political disputes, which are also involved in pedagogy and educational practice of various social environments.

    Taking into account and responding to two sets of objections to Thomas Aquinas’ credentials as political philosopher, the essay examines his political philosophy, its presupposed understanding of human nature, and its portrayal in his philosophy of law. Analysing the defining features of law in Aquinas places before the reader features of human nature, namely, rationality, relationality and religiosity. These traits enable one to find responses to what Charles Taylor has identified as “three malaises” of contemporary society and culture, namely, individualism, instrumental reason, and the political consequences of both.
