    The maritime industry is multinational and multicultural. Understanding which leadership skills that are effective in such environments is necessary to be a successful leader. Work experience in multinational companies will give a different insight into which management practices are seen as desirable for future maritime leaders within a global industry. According to trait theories there are properties that can be trained and some that are linked to personality, which are not easily trainable. Since leadership skills are a combination of both trainable and not so trainable skills, it is necessary to understand what types of skills are seen as endorsed, and not endorsed by the future maritime managers. The present paper shows results from a questionnaire study using the GLOBE Leadership questionnaire where 52 master of maritime management students (i.e. maritime managers of the future) rates 112 different leadership skills according to which degree these skills support outstanding leadership or not. The results show which leadership skills the maritime leaders of the future believe will support outstanding leadership. Contrasts between participant with and without work experience form multinational corporations will be shown – giving an indication of how the perception of leadership is changed through work experience in a multi-cultural context. The result will give an insight in how future management practices should be. Knowledge of the universally endorsed maritime leadership skills can be used as a guideline in the recruitment process for maritime managers.

    Modern organisations that are the object of research on security sciences do not remain unchanged over time. However, there are continual categories such as the common good and trust. The security world is not about whether stakeholders are more or less willing to trust other people, but about whether members of the organisation rely on trust, creating interpersonal relationships, in their activities, building a culture of security. Then the common good becomes less exposed to the effect of the "tragedy of the commons". Building the trust can, therefore, mitigate this effect. This fact is facilitated by the use of cooperative leadership style, by shaping values, norms and patterns cultivating the concern for "common good". The development of this issue is the subject of this paper.

    Western philosophers formulated ethical theories such as egoism, virtue, existentialism, deontology, contractualism and utilitarianism, and illustrated how these are applicable in benefitting individuals and societies in building a complete moral life. Interestingly, there existed some societies that had little or no contact with the West but which have also developed morally acceptable ideas of living. Such are, for example, the Muslims that have established kingdoms and empires all over Asia, Middle East and Africa. The ethical principles developed by these societies may be what we can call a divine command theory, which of course also exists in the West. It is a theory which follows religious beliefs and sources. The Muslims, who practice the religion of Islam, have intellectuals, scholars and thinkers who were philosophically inclined. This paper demonstrates that the Sokoto Caliphate scholars, trailing the classical Islamic philosophers, used the highest book of authority in the religion, the Qur’an, to explain life. The Qur’an is closely supported by the hadith [sayings, actions and approvals of the Prophet of the religion]. For the fact that the Sokoto Caliphate scholars, especially the triumvirates of Uthman ibn Fodiye, Abdullahi and Bello lived a practical life as religious and political leaders, some of their divine command ethics centred on leadership. They explain the foundation and qualities of leadership, good governance, management of public affairs and struggle against corruption. We shall attempt to apply an analytical, though historical lens to point out and analyse the ethical foundations of leadership articulated by the triumvirates.

    Obecnie niemożliwe jest rozumienie organizacji działających w sferze bezpieczeństwa oraz współczesne zarządzanie nimi bez uwzględniania kategorii współdziałania. Niezbędna jest w tym względzie rola kierownicza. W formacjach mundurowych rola przywódcy jest o wiele bardziej skomplikowana, niż w sektorze prywatnym. Czy można w nich mówić o stylu kooperacyjnym i czy jest on zależny od płci? Rozwinięcie wspomnianego problemu stanowi przedmiot niniejszego tekstu.
    It is impossible to understand organizations operating in the security field and manage them without considering cooperation. Today's efficiency means taking advantage of opportunities in the environment and eliminating threats. The feature is connected to implementing classic management functions through various types of dependencies, with particular emphasis on the coordination of activities to achieve a common goal making a managerial role necessary. In uniformed entities, the leadership role is more complicated than in the private sector. The paper evaluates whether it is possible to talk about a cooperative style and whether it is gender-dependent. The development of this problem is the subject of this text

    The article presents an attempt to identify and systematize methods and techniques used to solve problems in the field of organization and management and which can be adapted to support crisis management. Systematics of methods has been carried out in the scope of three processes supporting the implementation of the risk management process in crisis management, which include relations with employees, leadership and partnership.

    Autorka przedstawia w swoim artykule problem postrzegania wartości moralnych i wynikających z nich kompetencji moralnych, które są niezbędne zarówno w procesie zarządzania, jak i dowodzenia. Przedmiotem jej analiz jest między innymi proces odpodmiotowienia człowieka, wynikający z faktu ekonomizacji ludzkiej egzystencji i traktowania ludzi jako tak zwanego kapitału ludzkiego. Wprawdzie precyzyjnie zaplanowana egzystencja człowieka nie toleruje przypadkowości, która nie sprzyja użyteczności, ale mimo to twórcy teorii zarządzania muszą liczyć się z tak zwanym czynnikiem humanistycznym. Bowiem ekonomia i zysk ufundowane są także na wartościach moralnych i zaufaniu. W artykule rozważa się różne strategie zarządzania, które muszą respektować wartości moralne w zarządzaniu i dowodzeniu, zwane często „emocjonalną logiką” mobilizującą do działania opartego na sprawiedliwym i rzetelnym traktowaniu zarówno pracowników, jak i pracodawców. Takie postawy menadżerów, dowódców i liderów budują kulturę organizacji.
    The article discusses the problem of moral competences in the processes of management and leadership. In contemporary theories of capital, every individual is concerned with the accumulation of means which may be used to achieve competing goals based on the supply and demand mechanism. Human life requires precise planning, however, to account not only for individual needs, but also those related to common good and public good. This makes it necessary for managers to display moral competences which introduce the categories of trust, responsibility and justice into interpersonal relationships.

    The purpose of this study is examines the impact of entrepreneurial leadership and good governance of the entrepreneurs to the operational performance through business process management. The object of this research is SME of Batik product, one of the fastest growing SME in Indonesia. The method of this study is explanatory research, analyze the relationship of entrepreneur leadership, good governance to operational performance and business process management as an intermediate variable. This research conducted in 67 batik entrepreneurs in the center of batik industry in Surabaya and surrounding. The results indicated that entrepreneurial leadership and good governance affect business process management and operational performance. Finding revealed that business process management has no direct impact on operating performance. Based on these findings, concluded that it is important for entrepreneurs to develop entrepreneurial leadership and build a good governance as well in managing their business.
    Celem tego badania jest zbadanie wpływu przywództwa przedsiębiorczego i dobrego zarządzania przedsiębiorców na wyniki operacyjne poprzez zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi. Przedmiotem tych badań jest MŚP produktu Batik, jednego z najszybciej rozwijających się MŚP w Indonezji. Metodą tego badania są badania wyjaśniające, analiza relacji kierownictwa przedsiębiorcy, dobrego zarządzania do wyników operacyjnych i zarządzania procesami biznesowymi jako zmiennej pośredniej. Badanie przeprowadzono u 67 przedsiębiorców batikowych w centrum przemysłu batikowego w Surabaya i okolicach. Wyniki wskazują, że przywództwo w zakresie przedsiębiorczości i dobre zarządzanie mają wpływ na zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi i wydajność operacyjną. Odkrycie wykazało, że zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi nie ma bezpośredniego wpływu na wydajność operacyjną. Na podstawie tych ustaleń stwierdzono, że ważne jest, aby przedsiębiorcy rozwijali przywództwo w przedsiębiorstwie i budowali dobre rządy w zarządzaniu swoją firmą.

    The study presents a discussion on the subject of the Canon Law, which defines the requirements for spiritual directors in seminars and formational religious houses. The study concerns the obligation to respect relevant secrecy of information, discretion, the seal of confession, respecting one’s good name or the right to intimacy as well as the issue of protecting personal data. The seal of confession is respected in the Polish state law. It should be reminded that appropriate discretion is due to the information derived in the course of providing non-sacramental spiritual direction. The director is called to protect the good name and privacy of the people whom he serves. A new challenge in this context is the protection of digital documents and information, as well as the issue of spiritual direction through the Internet. This subject requires further study.
