This paper revisits the evidence on monetary policy transmission. It extends the existing literature in three dimensions. First, we attempt to internalise potential international channels of transmission by taking a global perspective. More specifically, we explore global aggregates covering a broader set of countries (ca. 70% per cent of the world economy) and a longer time span (from 1960 to 2013) than previous studies. Second, we broaden the set of transmission channels considered, notably by exploring interactions among monetary variables, inflation and asset prices (including residential property prices). Third, we look at the potential role of public debt in driving price developments, on the grounds underpinned by fiscal theories of the price level. On the basis of a VAR analysis, we find that: (1) global money demand shocks affect global inflation and global commodity prices (which, in turn, impact on inflation); (2) global asset price dynamics respond to financing cost shocks and (very modestly) to shocks to global money demand; and (3) positive house price shocks exert a significant influence on inflation. From a global perspective, the study suggests that an understanding of inflation requires recognition of the externalities that global commodity and asset price developments exert over domestic inflation.

In 1987 Meisters and Olech proved that the solution y(·) = 0 of the autonomous system of differential equations ẏ = F(y) is globally asymptotically stable provided that the jacobian of F is everywhere positive and the trace of the matrix of the differential of F is everywhere negative. In particular, the mapping F is then injective. We give an n-dimensional generalization of this result.

The relationship between human health and disease is neither a new concept nr a new subject. The outbreak of Covid-19 in Wuhan city of China in December, 2019 has turned out to be a global health emergency which triggers disastrous socio-economic and political crises in the infected countries. Covid-19, apart from becoming the greatest threat to global public health of the century, it has severely demobilized the global economy. It is against this backdrop that this paper examined the political economy of Covid-19 and its effects on the global economy. The paper argues that the measures taken to contain the epidemic in some countries appear as putting the nation under a state of siege. Some governments are adopting rather extreme measures - complete lockdown of the cities, the provinces and even the country itself, school closures, travel ban and cancellation of flights. The lack of responsible world leadership when it is most needed in terms of providing basic subsistence to the vulnerable especially in Africa has also proven problematic in the spread of the contagious disease. The paper concludes that the abuse of powers for narrow political motives exacerbate the spread of Covid-19 which brought considerable human suffering and economic disruption worldwide. The paper therefore recommends among others that the US government and the world leadership should strive to ensure effective and well-resourced public health measures to prevent infection and contagion, and implement well-targeted policies to support healthcare systems and workers, support low-income economies and protect the income of the vulnerable including social welfare payments to citizens while the monetary authorities offered loan relief to help businesses in the affected countries.
Relacja między zdrowiem a chorobami ludzi nie jest ani nowym tematem, ani nie stanowi nową koncepcję. Wybuch epidemii Covid-19 w mieście Wuhan w Chinach w grudniu 2019 roku przerodził się w globalny kryzys zdrowotny, który wywołuje katastrofalne kryzysy społeczno-gospodarcze i polityczne w zainfekowanych krajach. Covid-19, oprócz tego, że stał się największym zagrożeniem dla globalnego zdrowia publicznego stulecia, poważnie unieruchomił globalną gospodarkę. Na tym tle w niniejszym artykule przeanalizowano ekonomię polityczną Covid-19 i jego wpływ na gospodarkę światową. W artykule stwierdzono, że środki podjęte w celu powstrzymania epidemii w niektórych krajach wydają się wprowadzać kraje w stan oblężenia. Niektóre rządy podejmują raczej ekstremalne środki - całkowity zakaz opuszczania miast, regionów, a nawet samego kraju, zamknięcie szkół, zakaz podróżowania i odwołanie lotów. Brak odpowiedzialnego światowego przywództwa, gdy jest to najbardziej potrzebne w zakresie zapewnienia podstawowych środków utrzymania dla osób szczególnie narażonych, szczególnie w Afryce, również okazał się problematyczny w rozprzestrzenianiu się choroby zakaźnej. W artykule stwierdza się, że nadużycie władzy z powodu motywów politycznych zaostrza rozprzestrzenianie się Covid-19, co przyniosło znaczne cierpienia ludzkie i zakłócenia gospodarcze na całym świecie. W związku z tym w artykule zaleca się między innymi, aby rząd Stanów Zjednoczonych i światowi liderzy dążyli do zapewnienia skutecznych i dobrze wyposażonych środków ochrony zdrowia publicznego w celu zapobiegania infekcji i zarażeniu oraz wdrażali dobrze ukierunkowane polityki wspierające systemy opieki zdrowotnej i pracowników, wspierające gospodarki o niskich dochodach oraz chronili dochody osób szczególnie narażonych, w tym świadczenia socjalne na rzecz obywateli, podczas gdy władze monetarne oferowaliby ulgę kredytową, aby pomóc przedsiębiorstwom w dotkniętych krajach.

Celem rozważań jest wskazanie roli i znaczenia global governance (globalne zarządzanie) w drugiej połowie XXI wieku. Jest to okres kształtowania nowej relacji stosunków międzynarodowych i nowego ładu światowego przez wzrost roli i znaczenia, obok uwarunkowań militarnych, politycznych, gospodarczych, uwarunkowań społecznych, kulturowych (w tym kształtowania tożsamości), ochrony środowiska. Przejawem wpływu tych czynników jest powstawanie i rozwój wyspecjalizowanych organizacji, których oddziaływanie jest wzmocnione przez wzajemną współpracę. Zależność tę można wyjaśnić przez zastosowanie zarządzania międzyorganizacyjnego.
An aim of considerations is to indicate the role and importance of global governance in the second decade of the 21st century. This is the period of formation of a new relation of international relationships and a new global economic governance through the growth of the role and importance, besides the military, political, economic, social, cultural (inclusive of identity formation) determinants, and environmental protection. A symptom of the impact of these factors is the emergence and development of specialised organisations whose influence is reinforced by their mutual cooperation. This dependence can be explained by way of application of interorganisational governance.

A function g:V → [0,1] is called a global dominating function (GDF) of G, if for every v ∈ V, $g(N[v]) = ∑_{u ∈ N[v]}g(u) ≥ 1$ and $g(\overline{N(v)}) = ∑_{u ∉ N(v)}g(u) ≥ 1$. A GDF g of a graph G is called minimal (MGDF) if for all functions f:V → [0,1] such that f ≤ g and f(v) ≠ g(v) for at least one v ∈ V, f is not a GDF. The fractional global domination number $γ_{fg}(G)$ is defined as follows: $γ_{fg}(G)$ = min{|g|:g is an MGDF of G } where $|g| = ∑_{v ∈ V} g(v)$. In this paper we initiate a study of this parameter.

The emergence of globalization processes and transnational market integration has become a more and more challenging issue for scientific research in many fields, also and in particular within management science. Against this background the paper presents conceptualizations of globalizing networks based on theories and approaches such Global Commodity Chains, Global Value Chains and Global Production Networks. In particular, the paper aims to conceptualize and discuss globalizing networks with a specific focus on foreign direct investments (FDI) and special economic zones (SEZs). The article is based on heuristic approach and in-depth literature study. The text has been prepared based on heuristic approach and literature studies and it can make a small contribution to the conceptualization within in management science theory.
Postępująca globalizacja w połączeniu z wzrastającymi zjawiskami sieciowania stają się coraz większym wyzwaniem dla badań naukowych w wielu dziedzinach. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono konceptualizację globalizujących się sieci opartą na teorii, Global Commodity Chains, Global Value Chains and Global Production Networks. Celem artykułu jest przyczynek do konceptualizacji tych zjawisk i kontynuacja dyskusji naukowej na temat roli globalizacji sieci w globalnym środowisku gospodarczym. Ponadto artykuł odwołuje się do znaczenia FDI oraz specjalnych stref ekonomicznych w procesie globalizacji sieci produkcyjnych. Tekst został opracowany na podstawie podejść heurystycznych oraz studiów literaturowych.

A dominating set S is a global offensive (respectively, defensive) alliance if for each vertex in V - S (respectively, in S) at least half the vertices from the closed neighborhood of v are in S. The domination number γ (G) is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set of G, and the global offensive alliance number γo(G) (respectively, global defensive alliance number γa(G)) is the minimum cardinality of a global offensive alliance (respectively, global deffensive alliance) of G. We show that if T is a tree of order n, then γo(T) ≤ 2γ (T) - 1 and if n ≥ 3, then γo(T) ≤ 3/2?a(T) ? 1. Moreover, all extremal trees attaining the first bound are characterized.

The minimum number of colors required for a global dominator coloring of G is called the global dominator chromatic number and is denoted by χgd(G). This paper initiates a study on this notion of global dominator coloring.

The author attempts to determine the specific role and tasks of the teacher in a global school and classroom. Nowadays, in a world that is growing smaller and flatter every day, the responsibility of a teacher gains particular importance. Teachers should perceive their students both as individuals and as members of heterogeneous, interdependent global community. In order to navigate the complexities of the 21st century, people need to be globally competent. The way to foster global competence at school is through cultural competence, transformational learning, and personalized education. Teachers who welcome and celebrate individual student differences in cultures, religions, languages, values and beliefs, interests and talents – simultanously create the climate of education that can support learning with others and among the others. Currently, cultural and global competences appear as teachers’ professional competences, as well as a purpose of classroom interactions.

Główne rezultaty dotyczące postawionych celów artykułu wynikają z analizy zbieżności procesów konwergencji kapitału fizycznego i ludzkiego oraz zasobów pracy. Cele te, w odwołaniu do endogenicznego modelu Mankiwa, kształtują zasadniczą część rozważań i nawiązują do spójności gospodarczej i społecznej różnych grup krajów. Istotna część artykułu koncentruje się na prezentacji zjawiska konwergencji wplecionego w określone, kontrowersyjne pod względem metodycznym pomiary, wynikające ze sposobu ujęcia szacowania PKB per capita, ale głównie ukazuje dodatkową zmienną, jaką jest kapitał wiedzy. Badania dotyczące konwergencji państw Unii Europejskiej są szeroko komentowane w literaturze, z tego względu nie poświęcono tej tematyce zbyt wiele uwagi. Zasadnicza część artykułu odnosi się do tła gospodarczego i politycznego współczesnego świata z istotną podstawą, jaką stanowią kapitał wiedzy i jego pomiar.
The main results concerning the set goals of the article concern the analysis of convergence with respect to convergence processes with the view of physical and human capital, as well as labour resources. They usually refer to the Mankiw model being a generalization of the neo-classical Solow model. The main purpose of the considerations conducted in the article may lead to the conclusion that the phenomenon of convergence raises some methodical controversies resulting from the inclusion of the very method of estimating GDP per capita, but mainly the additional Mankiw variable. Studies on the convergence of EU countries are widely commented in the literature. For this reason, too little attention has been devoted to this subject. One can only say with a high degree of probability that as a result of the transformation processes of the Central and Eastern European countries they gained the most in the context of the convergence processes in the rest of the world.

The concept of global mindset has recently received significant attention in the fields of international business and international entrepreneurship. A strong relationship between the global mindset and firms’ internationalization behavior has also been found in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); however, in the context of Polish research, the phenomenon has not been examined in depth. Thus, the purpose of this article is to broaden our understanding of antecedents of the global mindset and its significance for internationalization outcomes (performance and behavior) of small and medium-sized Polish firms operating in a low-tech but fairly internationalized sector. The study findings indicate that the global mindset is a key capability relevant for explaining the international performance of SMEs, but its impact on firms’ international behavior is somewhat equivocal. Moreover, often employed individual-level predictors of the global mindset are statistically insignificant, as is length of firm international experience. The paper concludes with a discussion of the implications and limitations of the findings.
W ostatnich latach wyraźnie wzrasta zainteresowanie badaczy mentalnością globalną (global mindset) zarówno w obszarze międzynarodowego biznesu, jak i przedsiębiorczości międzynarodowej. Związek zachodzący między globalną mentalnością a międzynarodowym zachowaniem przedsiębiorstwa został zauważony także w odniesieniu do małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw (MŚP), jednakże w kontekście polskich firm zjawisko to nie zostało jeszcze szeroko zbadane. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest poszerzenie wiedzy na temat: (1) czynników wspierających mentalność globalną oraz (2) jej znaczenia dla wyników internacjonalizacji MŚP. Badaniami objęto polskie przedsiębiorstwa działające w branży meblarskiej, która należy do grupy branż niskich technologii, będąc jednocześnie wysoce umiędzynarodowioną. Otrzymane wyniki potwierdzają, że mentalność globalna jest kluczową kompetencją wyjaśniającą wyniki osiągane przez MŚP w procesie internacjonalizacji, ale jej wpływ na międzynarodowe zachowanie przedsiębiorstw nie jest jednoznaczny. Ponadto często uwzględniane czynniki indywidualne jako predyktory mentalności globalnej okazały się statystycznie nieistotne, podobnie jak długość międzynarodowego doświadczenia firmy. Artykuł kończy się omówieniem wniosków oraz ograniczeń prezentowanych wyników.

Celem artykułu jest analiza i dekonstrukcja pola problemowego określanego mianem „edukacji globalnej” oraz krytyczna refleksja nad jej podstawami teoretycznymi. W artykule wskazane zostały liczne dylematy teoretyczne związane z rozumieniem edukacji globalnej, jej teoretycznych założeń ontologicznych i epistemologicznych oraz pojęć nieodłącznie związanych z edukacją globalną, takich jak rozwój, kultura, globalne obywatelstwo, globalna edukacja obywatelska. Konkluzją artykułu jest twierdzenie o heterogeniczności edukacji globalnej, wyrastającej z odmiennych założeń teoretycznych, odmiennej tradycji edukacyjnej, ideologii i stawianych jej celów.
This article contributes to the debates on global education. Its aim is to analyze the field of global education and to critically reflect upon its theoretical fundaments. This article indicates numerous conceptual and theoretical dilemmas concerning the field of global education, such as the notions of culture, development, global citizenship and global citizenship education. The article finishes with a conclusion about the heterogeneity of global education being the result of its different theoretical assumptions, pedagogical traditions, ideological beliefs and major goals being advocated for it.

The subject of the article is Peter Singer’s „ethics of globalization” presented in his book of year 2002 One World. The Ethics of Globalization – translated into Polish language in year 2006 – towards contemporary proposals of dealing with ethical problems of globalization. Singer’s reflection on global problems solutions, eg. climate changes, disparities of economic development, etc. brings many valuable observations on moral condition of the contemporary world. In terms of normative sphere, it appears to be profoundly less constructive. The concept of the global government as an ethical subject, which he develops at the end of his observations, does not take into account negative experiences of UN. In such aspect, it constitutes a step back towards alterglobalistic concepts, which did not create satisfying theories of a new social ethical subject, but put emphasis on a problem of forceless and seeming actions of contemporary political elites. Peter Singer seems to avoid noticing such problem.

The author of article proves that in the era of the globalization the institutional order of national economy is influenced by the distorted competition which results in domination of the managers and technicians of great corporations. It is their businesses that define the economic policy. In the world of asymmetric information, oligopolistic competition, political market and progressive commercialization of the axiological sphere the rules of thinking and acting are merely reduced to the strategy of self-advantage. This situation results in ineffective institutional protection at the global, regional and national levels. To remove social inequalities effectively it is necessary to have control over the dominating groups in society and to develop coherent norms of institutional protection. There is also a need for the development of human capital and its modernization as a common notion of moral values of society and the individual.

This paper aims to answer the question whether use of the designation of “global elite” to describe persons experiencing multiple migrations is theoretically justified. The author analyzes the situation on the examples of Polish students who study at universities abroad. El presente trabajo aborda el fenómeno del calentamiento global como consecuencia de la actividad de una civilización que basa su desarrollo en el uso de los combustibles petrofósiles. Por lo tanto, el análisis abarca los siguientes temas: la globalización, las ciudades, el ambiente, las acciones contra del calentamiento global, el proto colo de Kyoto, la negativa de los Estados Unidos a suscribirlo, así como ejemplos específicos de los esfuerzos de reducir las emisiones de gases perjudiciales a la atmósfera por parte de algunos suscriptores. Se ejemplifican algunos efectos del calentamiento global en el área de la seguridad alimentaria, la salud, la biodiversidad.
This paper analyzes global warming as a result of the activity of a civilization that depends in its development on the use of fossil fuels. Therefore, the author undertakes and discusses the following topics: globalization, cities, environment, actions against global warming, the Kyoto Protocol, the U.S. refusal to sign it, as well as specific examples of efforts to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by some protocol subscribers. A few examples of the effects of global warming in the areas of food security, health and biodiversity are also briefly analyzed in the text

The article discusses the rationale for global public policies and the role of international organisations in their designing, implementation and evaluation. It commences with the recognition of the growing global interdependencies and the usefulness of the concept of global public goods in identifying the areas of common problems. Then, it points to the need for global collective actions to solve global problems and sees multilateralism as a principle helping to guide global collective actions. Subsequently, international organisations are discussed as agents serving to stabilise global collective actions in their multiple, and differentiated forms.
Artykuł analizuje uzasadnienie dla globalnych polityk publicznych i rolę organizacji międzynarodowych w ich projektowaniu, wdrażaniu i ewaluacji. Opracowanie wskazuje na rosnące globalne współzależności i pokazuje użyteczność pojęcia globalnych dóbr publicznych w identyfikacji obszarów potencjalnej współpracy. Następnie, pokazana jest specyfika globalnych działań zbiorowych, które są niezbędne dla rozwiązania globalnych problemów. Multilateralizm jawi się jako zasada przewodnia dla zorientowanych na globalne problemy publiczne działań zbiorowych. W konkluzjach opracowanie wskazuje na rolę organizacji międzynarodowych w stabilizowaniu globalnych działań zbiorowych w ich wielu, różnorodnych postaciach.

The article is focused on global regionalization as one of the most important development trends of the modern world. It presents levels of global regionalization processes and their influ-ence on possible changes in the world (macro, meso, microlevels). The paper seeks to study the regional aspects of the post-bipolar world and shows modern form of international and regional economical integration. At the same time, the attention turned to possible directions for a country to counteract the global financial threats by means of regionalization.
Artykuł koncentruje się na globalnej regionalizacji jako jednym z najważniejszych trendów rozwoju współczesnego świata. Przedstawia on poziom globalnych procesów regionalizacji i ich wpływ na ewentualne zmiany w świecie (makro-, mezo- i mikropoziomów). Artykuł ma na celu zbadanie aspektów regionalnych podwubiegunowego świata i pokazuje nowoczesną formę międzyna-rodowej i regionalnej integracji ekonomicznej. Jednocześnie zwrócono uwagę na możliwe, poprzez regionalizację, dla kraju kierunki na przeciwdziałanie globalnym zagrożeniom finansowym.

There is a continuing debate in the field of perceptual organization as to whether the locus of global processing is early or late perceptual, as previous studies have yielded contrary results. The conducted behavioural study explored this issue with the paradigm of collating global processing with other process of perceptual organization, namely illusory contours processing. Interaction between these two processes of perceptual organization would indicate that global processing has an early perceptual locus, whereas the lack of such interaction would suggest the late perceptual locus of global processing. In experiment 1, the effect of global dominance was obtained with the use of a compound figure composed of geometrical shapes with real edges. Results showed that the processing of the figure at the global level was faster and that it disrupted the processing of the figures from the local level. In experiment 1b, the compound figure was composed of local geometrical shapes generated with the use of the line-end induced illusory contours (Ehrenstein illusion). Local elements with illusory contours did not affect the processing of the hierarchical structure and the effect of global precedence occurred without any changes. In experiment 2a, a global advantaged effect within a compound figure with local elements with real edges was obtained in the paradigm of attention divided between levels of the hierarchical structure. When illusory contours of local elements of a compound figure were introduced to this paradigm (experiment 2b), this again had no effect on the perceptual global advantage. The results demonstrate the lack of interaction between global processing and illusory contour processing, indicating that the locus of global processing is rather late perceptual.

A subset S ⊆ V(G) is a connected global offensive k-alliance of the connected graph G, if G[S] is connected and |N(v) ∩ S | ≥ |N(v) -S | + k for every vertex v ∈ V(G) -S, where N(v) is the neighborhood of v. The connected global offensive k-alliance number $γₒ^{k,c}(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a connected global offensive k-alliance in G.
In this paper we characterize connected graphs G with $γₒ^{k,c}(G) = n(G)$. In the case that δ(G) ≥ k ≥ 2, we also characterize the family of connected graphs G with $γₒ^{k,c}(G) = n(G) - 1$. Furthermore, we present different tight bounds of $γₒ^{k,c}(G)$.

The concept of global education is based on the recognition of the world as a network of interdependencies and on realizing the fact that the current direction of the development of civilization is leading to environmental and humanitarian disaster. On the other hand, there is a belief that there is still a chance to change this state of affairs by means of education. The purpose of education is recognized as not only a transfer of knowledge, but also as a transfer of morals that are able to generate a shift in attitudes. In order to strengthen the impact of the global education project, it is necessary to provide a coherent description and axiological analysis of the values behind it. In the paper, we argue that ethicists should work on building philosophical arguments for the development and implementation of global education programs. We argue further that such a philosophical framework should be based on the ideas of new humanism (proposed by Aurelio Peccei) and global responsibility (formulated by Hans Jonas).

The Treaty of Lisbon gave new institutional ideas regarding EU external actions which were the basis for taking further steps in strengthening the effectiveness of the EU as an international actor. The EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy – EUGS (2016) was prepared as a response to the need for a stronger Europe in times of crisis. The new strategic document together with its institutional framework places a question over EU diplomatic capability in its implementation. The aim of this paper is to analyze relations between the assumptions of the EUGS and EU diplomatic potential, with special emphasis on the European External Action Service. The author poses the following research questions: what are the institutional challenges in implementing the EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy? What are the capabilities of the EU diplomatic system in responding to global threats and challenges? What are the roles of the European External Action Service and member states in implementing EUGS priorities?

Soldiers are the backbone of any armed force. They usually lose their lives due to the lack of medical assistance in emergency situations. Furthermore, army bases face problems due to the inability to track soldiers’ locations in the field. Hence, this paper proposes an interactive graphical user interface module (IGUIM) for soldiers’ bioinformatics acquisition and emergency reaction during combat, a global positioning system (GPS) is used to track soldiers’ locations through a device carried by the soldier. Soldiers’ bioinformatics are gathered using health monitoring biosensors, bidirectional communication between the soldiers and the army base is established via a global system for mobile (GSM). The proposed interactive module aims to enumerate the soldiers on the battlefield within a database that easily facilitates health monitoring, position tracking and bidirectional communication with each soldier through their identification number. The proposed IGUIM will increase the rate of soldiers’ survival in emergencies, which contributes to preserving the human resources of the army during combat.

Global Citizenship Education at university has been developed in Spain with the continued support of the Official Development Assistance and collaboration of Non-Gobvernment Organizations. In recent years, this assistance is suffering a drastic decrease in funding. Due to this situation, Spanish nonprofits and the University must enhance their collaboration in order to make a better use of the resources available. This article details a method for determining the collaboration factors in activities of Global Citizenship Education at university through the prioritization of experts’ preferences of collaboration. For this, it uses a quantitative technique called the Analytical Hierarchy Process on a sample of Global Citizenship Education professionals all over Spain. The results provide criteria that may help to establish a most suitable and collaborative action plan for Global Citizenship Education in the university space in the new changing reality.

Food constitutes the basic human need. Without food it is impossible to meet other needs. Changes in the modern world indicate that the problem of food security will steadily grow in importance in the future. The key question is therefore how to provide it, how to govern it. Despite its importance food security constitutes one of the less researched areas within international governance debate. It has never been ensured on the global level despite amazing progress of science and technology. What is more, the changing nature of threats to food security makes this goal even more distant. There are two contrasting views on that issue. In the first, the states are responsible for food security governance. This view is supported by the uniqueness of the agriculture, as a sector responsible for ensuring food. However, the growing limitations of states’ ability to decide on its own agriculture and food policy due to globalization processes make this vision disputable. According to the second view, in the face of globalization processes the best way to ensure it is to enhance the global food security governance. This vision also is confronted with criticisms, however, there are strong arguments which support it. The paper deals with the problem of food security governance. Its main assumption is that national governance becomes ineffective to address all food security dimensions under the globalization processes. That is why new modes are needed. The main argument of the paper is that the global governance model can fill the governance gap in food security area at the national level.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The goal of the paper is to explain the essence of megatrends, to show global trends most often perceived as megatrends, and also to present some implications of these phenomena. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem can be expressed in the form of questions: Are megatrends as phenomena important? Can the method which is appropriate for conducting global trends be determined? The paper has a conceptual character; the main research methods that are applied include literature studies, the method of analysis, the method of comparative analysis and the descriptive method. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The disquisition is composed of three major parts. The first concerns conceptualisation of megatrends: definitions, the nature of the phenomenon and also identification of phenomena approached as megatrends. The second part provides explanation why research of megatrends is important. The third part presents foresight as the most often applied research method of the discussed phenomenon. RESEARCH RESULTS: With respect to definitions concerning megatrends there are no significant divergences. However, they occur at the attempt of classification of a particular phenomenon as a megatrend. Megatrends have the nature of permanent trends that in a growing degree permeate all areas of human life. Megatrends increase complexity, uncertainty and risk and accelerate feedback within and between economic, social, political, technological and environmental systems. Therefore it is necessary to monitor and assess these phenomena. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Prediction of megatrends can be an important element of the potential of an organisation, the key to economic decision-making, as well as for planning and building the strategy on different levels of economic and social area, from micro to global level. However research of megatrends is associated, among others, with the problems resulting from ambiguous classification, dynamic character of these phenomena, uncertainty they are accompanied by, and also application of an adequate research method. It is important to contribute to the development of a more innovative research agenda for effective projection of megatrends.Keywords: megatrends, global economy, globalisation, foresight.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an extraordinary and growing role in global business. It can provide a firm with new markets and marketing channels, cheaper production facilities, access to new technology, products, skills and financing. For a host country or the foreign firm which receives the investment, it can provide a source of new technologies, capital, processes, products, organizational technologies and management skills and as such can provide a strong impetus to economic development. The sea change in trade and investment policies and the regulatory environment globally in the past decade, including trade policy and tariff liberalization, easing of restrictions on foreign investment and acquisition in many nations, and the deregulation and privatization of many industries, has probably been the most significant catalyst for FDI’s expanded role.

This article focuses on art, the aesthetic, and the body as a medium for self and social change in developing some thoughts on this issue of globalization and dance. The article explores how art, and specifically dance, can be a vehicle for aesthetic activism that emphasizes the importance of social justice and compassionate community. Drawing on critical and feminist pedagogies the author links pedagogy and aesthetic activism to social integration and cohesion, a sense of belonging and interdependence, and a sense of shared consciousness. The choreographic process described centers on the body as a site for self and social awareness and a critical understanding of the context of women’s lives. The aesthetic here is understood as that domain in which dominant meanings are disclosed and possibilities for social change can be imagined and realized. The author describes a community dance process in Cape Town South Africa in which notions of embodied knowledge and critical understanding come together to create a dance performance. This pedagogy suggests ways in which meaning and purpose within a changing global context can be grounded in an ethics of social justice, human rights and inclusive community.

The article analyzes the possibility of India becoming a global power. This vast, highly populated and strategically located country already has great potential - economic, military, political, cultural and scientific. While a lot has been written about „the elephant's" economic boom and its foreign affairs with other countries, the author was eager and devoted to present the current situation and the necessary developments which will enable India to achieve glo¬bal power status within the next four decades. The analysis of the potential of this country is made by studying its internal affairs. The author describes advantages and chances contributing positive¬ly to India's power aspirations, as well as obstacles and threats curbing development. She also provides characterization of India and its people, and analyzes specific features and phenomena of the nation and the state - both strengths and weaknesses relevant in the endeavor to gain power status. The main part of the paper outlines social, cultural, religious, political, economic and ecological problems facing that country. The conclusion states that India can become a global power - only if it effectively overcomes its internal challenges.

In reflection summary it can be stated that social policy is both a possibility and a barrier in the development of a new corporate culture-civilization, referred to as globalization. Main forces shaping the new global reality, and the face of social policy are: technical and scientific progress, international laws and education focused on raising awareness of global change. Quick pace of civilization reveals an inability to adapt to a wide range of society the realities of the world of IT and information, and consequently the phenomenon of exclusion and widening of social pathologies. The image shaping social policy sets out the special role of participatory unit. The implementation of the project of European integration reveals a large gap between the assumptions and practice of social life. Standards of social policy remain in the realm of vision, a declaration of hope, the boundaries between the real world and virtual information and disinformation and manipulation. An important role in this regard play the media, which in its action shall submit to the effectiveness of the delivering authentic information about contemporary social realities and social policy pursued in its various structural dimensions.

Complicated history, philosophy and more than three thousand years of civilization is a reason of many paradoxes in modern China. Learning more about Chinese culture, traditional way of thinking and history of the state is necessary to understand present internal politics, as well as Chinese way of thinking about foreign policy and international relations. As People's Republic of China becomes a global power, understanding the reasons of its international behavior might be an important issue for the rest of the world. Conviction of domination of Chinese civilization was one of the main pillars of traditional perception of the world order, preserved in cosmogony, rituals, law and philosophy of the state since the first dynasties. Chinese domination in the region, as well as its huge impact on the neighborhood areas was indisputable basically until the age of arising of Western imperialism, which is the reason why present Chinese foreign policy's goal is to play a crucial role in the South-Eastern Asia region. The crisis of Chinese sovereignty and political independence in the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century was a traumatic experience which still recalls in Chinese attitude towards international relations and demand for respect of self-determination of states. The question is, whether China as a global power, dominating in the region respects other countries rights to political independence.

China’s dynamic economic growth at the turn of twenty/twenty-first century is accompanied by an unprecedented development of higher education and university education. Development of economic structures of the country gave birth to a sharp increase in demand for highly qualifi ed personnel with broad international experience. That triggered a rapidly growing process of “student emigration” to foreign universities, making China the main animator of the process of globalization of higher education. In 2007 Chinese students represented 15,1% of all international students in the world higher education system. They became largest foreign minority at the universities in the USA (16.6% of total number of foreign students), UK (14.1%), and in the case of Japan they accounted for the record 63.7% (2007). At the same time number of foreigners studying in China is dynamically growing (with 39 000 in 1970 to 195 000 in 2007). It is expected that due to the expansion of the Chinese economy and the increasing interest in the culture and art by 2020 more than half million of foreign students will undertake their education in China.

Tematem niniejszego opracowania jest kryzys migracyjny, jaki dotknął Unię Europejską w 2015 roku. Na artykuł składa się część statystyczna pokazująca skalę zjawiska, wskazanie problemu dysproporcji rozwojowych i ich krótka charakterystyka oraz opis aktualnych deficytów w global governance, które są przyczyną kryzysu. Jego celem jest ukazanie problemu kryzysu migracyjnego w szerszej perspektywie. Autor, odwołując się do koncepcji globalnego kierowania (global governance), wskazuje zaniedbania na szczeblu globalnym jako główną i pierwotną przyczynę tego problemu. Korzystając z dorobku ekonomii rozwoju, studiów nad Afryką, a także bazując na informacjach statystycznych i raportach organizacji międzynarodowych, ukazano czynniki, które w opinii autora finalnie doprowadziły do wielu zjawisk określanych jako kryzys migracyjny. W artykule wykorzystano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa naukowego oraz metodę opisową.
