In letzter Zeit ist das Interesse am Doktorandenstudium allgemein angestiegen, auch bei Germanistikstudenten. Infolgedessen ist die Nachfrage nach Lehrmaterialien für Doktoranden auch gewachsen. Mein eigenes Interesse am Studium auf der dritten Stufe hat mich dazu veranlasst, die Analyse im Bereich der für Doktoranden geeigneten Lehrmaterialien vorzunehmen. Das Ziel der Untersuchung war eines der verfügbaren, neulich veröffentlichten Lehrbücher für Studierenden der dritten Stufe zu analysieren, um den Inhalt dieser Publikation unter didaktischem und inhaltlichem Gesichtspunkt zu überprüfen. „Lehrmaterialien für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse“ (2021) ist eine der jüngsten Veröffentlichungen, weshalb sie der Gegenstand der Besprechung ist. Es hebt sich auch von anderen Büchern für Doktoranden der Germanistik ab, da es das Ergebnis der internationalen Zusammenarbeit zwischen drei Universitäten aus Polen, aus der Tschechischen Republik und der Slowakischen Republik ist. Es richtet sich jedoch an alle, die sich für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse interessieren, unabhängig von ihrem Herkunftsland. Kann das Buch gleichzeitig die Bedürfnisse von Dozenten und Doktoranden der Germanistik aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen (Literaturwissenschaft, Sprachwissenschaft, Kulturwissenschaft) erfüllen? Die Ergebnisse der Analyse zeigen, dass die Erstellung eines solchen thematisch umfassenden Buches dank internationaler Zusammenarbeit realisierbar ist. Nach der Analyse kann man zum Schluss kommen, dass es sich um ein Werk handelt, das für Studierende der Germanistik unabhängig von ihrer Spezialisierung von Nutzen ist.
Recently, interest in doctoral studies picked up in general, including among German studies students. As a result, the demand for teaching materials for doctoral students has increased. My own interest in third-level study has prompted me to undertake an analysis of certain teaching resources suitable for doctoral students. The aim of the research was to analyze one of the available, recently published textbooks for PhD students in order to review this publication from a didactic and content point of view. “Lehrmaterialien für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse” (2021) is one of the most recent publications, which is why it is the subject of the review. It also stands out from other books for doctoral students in German studies, as it is the result of international cooperation between three universities from Poland, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. It is aimed at anyone interested in doctoral courses of German studies, regardless of their home country. Is the book able to simultaneously meet the needs of lecturers and doctoral students of German studies from different academic disciplines (literature, linguistic and cultural studies)? The results of the analysis show that the production of such thematically comprehensive book is feasible thanks to international cooperation. After the analysis, it can be concluded that this is a work that is useful for students of German studies regardless of their specialization.

In this article, we will critically examine programmes in German at universities in Tirana and Shkodra. After a general, but historically-grounded, introduction to German Studies in Albania, we will discuss basic structural elements such as the content of the three-year programmes in Tirana and Shkodra. In this contribution, special emphasis is given to the current challenges for Programmes in German with respect to the law following the last university reform. Because of our many years of teaching activity and experience in this area, we aim above all to provide a multifaceted view of the problems, tendencies and prospects for Programmes in German in Tirana and Shkodra. Our considerations represent an attempt to continue or revive the international discussion on this topic.

Der Aufsatz diskutiert Wackwitz’ Romane und Essays im Kontext des Postkolonialismus und der Queer Studies um zu zeigen, wie der Autor mitteleuropäische Geschichte vom Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart als Kolonialgeschichte erzählt. Wackwitz entwirft in seinen Texten das Projekt einer Dekolonisation Mitteleuropas, das auch die Dekonstruktion der heteronormativen Geschlechterordnung als Dispositiv der Macht miteinschließt.
The paper discusses Wackwitz’s Novels and Essays with postcolonial and queer theories to point out how Wackwitz tells European history as a colonial history from the 20th century until today. Wackwitz designs the project of decolonization of Central and Eastern Europe including the deconstruction of the heteronormative gender order as a dispositive of power.

Polish and German perspective in genre studies
Opis:
Drawing from both German and Polish linguistic and literary perspectives, the article attempts to examine genre changes within the genre pattern of the novel and decide whether Olga Tokarczuk’s Flights, described by the author herself as a novel, should be attributed to this genre. We assume that linguistic and literary tools will allow us to determine the most characteristic features of contemporary novel productions to decide on the nature of changes taking place within the studied genre. Looking at Tokarczuk’s work not through the prism of a single genre but, following Maria Wojtak, Kirsten Adamzik or Ulla Fix, from the perspective of inter-genre relations, allows not only to conclude that the analyzed material is located on the fringes of the genre pattern of the novel but also to see other inter-textual dependencies and consider the text under study as a genre in the form of a collection.

The article addresses the development of curricula for German study programs in Central Eastern European Countries over the past 70 years, from the post-war period to the present. These are shaped by social framework conditions and historical factors, such as the end of the war in 1945, and the years directly following, membership of the so-called communist Eastern Bloc, and membership in the EU in 2004 and 2007. The political changes of 1989/1990 marked one of the most important milestones; a period began in which western languages including the German language flourished in German departments; only with demographic change has enrolment dropped rapidly since the turn of the millennium. Already in the first decade of reunification, German institutes “lost” their graduates to careers that were not oriented towards the humanities, a phenomenon dominated by international companies with business contacts in German-speaking countries. Today, the majority of universities and German studies institutes are reacting to the pragmatic demands of the labor market and are modifying their range of courses, even if this is at the expense of traditional curricular content.

Obejmuje ono (w kontynuacji chronologicznej) kolejne obszary jego działalności organizacyjnej, dydaktycznej oraz naukowej, uporządkowane według następującej struktury tematycznej: 1) posłannictwo wykładów profesorów wizytujących, 2) nowe umowy w ramach programu Sokrates/Erasmus, 3) polsko-niemiecko-skandynawskie regionalistyczne konferencje naukowe, 4) Nowa Marchia – Terra incognita? – powstanie nowej polsko-niemieckiej serii wydawniczej „Badania Nowomarchijskie/Neumärkische Forschungen”. Również tutaj te wszystkie aktywności ujęte są w szerszym kontekście rozwoju Instytutu, w tym powstania w 2015 r. – jako wynik wspólnej działalności piszącej te słowa z dr. Andrzejem Talarczykiem – Zakładu Literaturo- znawstwa Porównawczego, który to rozwój jest tłem opisów i analiz. Swoją systemowością działania, wyrażającą się m.in. stopniowym przechodzeniem do coraz to nowej jakości współpracy transgranicznej, działalność dr. Talarczyka rozszerzyła również regionalistyczne spektrum oddziaływania. Ilustruje to najdobitniej trwająca ponad 20 lat współpraca z Akademią Bałtycką w Travemünde (Lubece) – od polsko-niemieckich podróży studyjnych po Pomorzu Zachodnim do wspólnych polsko-niemiecko-skandynawskich regionalistycznych konferencji naukowych z ich dalszym rozwinięciem w formie powstania serii wydawniczej w Wydawnictwie Naukowym US „Badania Nowomarchijskie/ Neumärkische Forschungen” wraz z ukonstytuowaniem przy niej wydawniczej Rady Naukowej, we współpracy z którą powstały projekty edycji kolejnych 10 tomów tej serii. Jest to uwieńczenie jego interdyscyplinarnej działalności, ponieważ w skład Rady Naukowej wchodzą m.in. jego profesorowie wizytujący, pracujący dydaktycznie i naukowo w najbardziej dynamicznie rozwijającym się w strukturze IFG Zakładzie Literaturoznawstwa Porównawczego. To uwieńczenie jest kolejną nową jakością w historii IFG i dopełnia działalność naukową dr. Talarczyka, który przeprowadził – jak wynika z przedstawionych w tym dwuczęściowym tekście zestawień – łącznie dziewięć międzynarodowych konferencji naukowych i opublikował ponad 60 publikacji, w tym dziewięć edycji książkowych, z których jedna monografia (na bazie dysertacji doktorskiej) otrzymała ministerialną nagrodę naukową III stopnia. Jest to w zakresie literaturoznawstwa w historii IFG jedno z największych osiągnięć. To wszystko oznaczało w edukacji akademickiej wychodzenie naprzeciw obecnie praktykowanemu nauczaniu, opartemu na metodologii badań regionalistycznych, określanemu w krajach anglosaskich terminem area studies i uzasadnia użycie w tym kontekście określenia „szczecińskiego modelu germanistyki kulturowego pogranicza”.
This text is the second part of the report on the mandate and work of Dr. Andrzej Talarczyk, coordinator at the Institute of German Philology at the University of Szczecin for cooper- ation with academic and non-academic institutions in Germany. It includes further areas of his organizational, teaching and research work according to the following subjects, in chronological order: (1) The message and mission of lectures, (2) New arrangements within the Socrates/Erasmus program, (3) Polish-German-Nordic regionalist academic con- ferences, (4) The Neumark / Terra incognita research project with the emergence of a new Polish-German book series “Badania Nowomarchijskie / Neumärkische Forschungen” (Neumark research). All these activities are embedded in the broader context of the Institute’s development. His engagement and joint efforts include support for the foundation of Chair of Compara- tive Literature. The work and development of this Chair form the background for the fol- lowing descriptions and analyses. With its systemic approach expressed, among other things, in the gradual transition to more and higher quality cross-border cooperation, work in the field of regional studies has continued to develop and expand thematically. This is most clearly illustrated by the cooperation with the Ostsee Academy in Lübeck-Travemünde which has lasted over 20 years – from Polish-German study trips through West Pomera- nia to joint Polish-German-Nordic (Scandinavian) regionalist academic conferences and the development of a series of books “Badania Nowomarchijskie / Neumärkische Forschun- gen”, published by the Szczecin University Press under his leadership. This resulted in draft editions of the next 10 volumes in this series. This is the culmination of this interdisciplinary activity, as members of this Council are visiting professors who have worked in teaching and research in the most dynamically developing organizational structure at the Institute of German Philology: the Department of Comparative Literary Studies. Moreover, this milestone marks another new quality in the history of this institute, and it rounds up and completes the academic activity of Dr. Talarczyk, as can be seen from this two-part series. Dr. Talarczyk has organized 9 scientific conferences, numerous student study trips as well as weekend seminars. He published over 60 publications, including 9 book editions, one of which, an independent monograph based on his doctoral dissertation, received a 3rd degree ministerial academic award. This is one of the greatest achievements in Comparative Literature over the entire history of the Institute of German Philology. For all the activities and achievements in regional research (area studies) described in this two-part report, it is legitimate to apply the designation “Szczecin Model for German Studies of the Cultural Border Region”. This model (in this personnel constellation) also merits a certain pioneering role, not only in the regional context.

У публікації представлено спогади професора о. Юрія Мицика про українського радянського германіста Анатолія Зав’ялова. Свого часу Юрій Мицик працював на одній кафедрі разом із Анатолієм Зав’яловим у період 1974–1989 рр., а з 1975 р. виконував обов’язки його заступника. Академічне життя й викладацька кар’єра історика (1960–2000-ні рр.) були пов’язані з Дніпропетровським університетом. У цей час Зав’ялов активно вивчав сучасну йому історію Німецької Демократичної Республіки, став автором багатьох статей (зокрема і в провідних академічних журналах), навчальних посібників і видав дві монографії. Він був одним із небагатьох радянських германістів, який мав відрядження не лише до Німецької Демократичної Республіки, але й за «залізну завісу». Окрім того, історик здобув досвід викладання в зарубіжних університетах. На посаді завідувача кафедри всесвітньої історії докладав зусиль, щоб сформувати в університеті дослідницький напрям з історичної германістики. Під його керівництвом захищали дисертації переважно з німецької історії ХХ ст. Частина колишніх аспірантів-германістів залишилася працювати на кафедрі, що дозволило створити потужний осередок германських студій і перетворити кафедру всесвітньої історії на центр історичної германістики. Для забезпечення можливості публікувати дослідження з німецької історії у 1973 р. на кафедрі всесвітньої історії Дніпропетровського університету було засновано збірник «Вопросы германской истории», який згодом отримав статус між вишівського. У збірнику результати досліджень публікували історики-германісти з Радянського Союзу та Німецької Демократичної Республіки. Після падіння Берлінського муру та об’єднання Німеччини вивчення історії Німецької Демократичної Республіки фактично припинилося, і Зав’ялов спрямував свою дослідницьку увагу на історію німецької діаспори України. Він став вивчати політичну історію німецьких колоній початку ХХ ст. та питання історії колонізації у цивілізаційному вимірі. Останні роки життя історика були затьмарені різким погіршенням здоров’я, зниженням наукової активності.
The publication presents the memoirs of professor, Father Yuri Mytsyk about Soviet Ukrainian germanist Anatolii Zavialov. Yuri Mytsyk worked with Anatolii Zavialov at the same department from 1974 till 1989, and from 1975 carried out the duties of his deputy. Zavialov’s academic life and his teaching career in 1960s-2000s was connected to Dnipropetrovsk university. At that time Zavialov actively studied the contemporary history of the German Democratic Republic, he was the author of many articles, including texts in prominent scientific journals, tutorials and published two monographs. He was one of the few Soviet germanists, who had business trips not only to the German Democratic Republic, but also behind the “Iron Curtain”. Zavialov also had the experience of teaching in the universities abroad. As the head of the department of world history, Zavialov made efforts to form a research direction in historical German studies at the university. The majority of dissertations, defended under his scientific supervision, were devoted to German history of the XXth century. Some of his graduate students-germanists continued their career at the department, and it became possible to create a strong center of German studies and turn the department of world history into a center of historical germanistics. To provide the opportunities to publish research in German history, in 1973 the scientific edition “The Questions of German History” was founded at the department of world history of Dnipropetrovsk national university, later it received the status of inter-university scientific edition. Articles here were published by historians-germanists from Soviet Union and the German Democratic Republic. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, the study of the history of the German Democratic Republic went bankrupt and Zavialov turned to the history of German diaspora in Ukraine. He focused on political history of the German colonies at the beginning of the XXth century and the questions of the history of colonization in civilizational dimension. The last years of the historian`s life were over shadowed by a sharp deterioration of health and decline in scientific activity.

The article is dedicated to the reception of Mykhailo Hrushevsky’s academic achievements in German science and journalism during the first third of the 20th century, in the years of World War I and the interwar period. The authors emphasize that German scientists were generally honest about the achievements and activity of the Ukrainian historian. Despite their scepticism towards M. Hrushevsky’s Anti-Normanism ideology, they followed closely the emergence of his major scientific works. In the reception of the Ukrainian historian’s work, the academic motivation definitely dominated over the political one, although the latter indirectly appeared in many statements devoted to him. The authors prove the vivid presence of Hrushevsky’s thought in the German Slavic discourse of the period.
Artykuł poświęcony jest recepcji twórczości Mychajły Hruszewskiego w niemieckiej nauce i publicystyce w pierwszym trzydziestoleciu XX w., w latach I wojny światowej i w okresie międzywojennym. Autorzy podkreślają, że niemieccy komentatorzy na ogół rzetelnie odnosili się do dorobku i działalności ukraińskiego historyka. Pomimo sceptycznego nastawienia M. Hruszewskiego do antynormanizmu, uważnie śledzili pojawianie się jego głównych prac naukowych. W recepcji twórczości ukraińskiego historyka motywacja akademicka zdecydowanie dominowała nad polityczną, chociaż ta ostatnia pośrednio pojawiała się w wielu poświęconych mu wypowiedziach. The topic of this paper is so-called Partitive Genitive (PG) as a verbal compliment, which is one oft the most characteristic syntactic constructions of the Polish language and of the others Slavic languages. PG is typical of spoken language and compatibel only with restricted class of perfective verbs. Different frames and a short characteristic of the subject in the Polish linguistic literature were presented. Reflections in the main part of the article are limited to a selected morphological, syntactic and semantic phenomenon of PG with perfective and imperfective verbs. The possible equivalents of Polish PG in German were also presented.

Andrzeja Talarczyka, koordynatora w Instytucie Filologii Germańskiej US w zakresie współpracy z instytucjami akademickimi i nieakademickimi w Niemczech. Obejmuje ono cały okres istnienia tej placówki organizacyjnej, to znaczy lata 1985–2019 oraz pierwszy rok akademicki działaności nowopowstałego Instytutu Literaturoznawstwa i Nowych Mediów. Opis tej części dotyczy następujących instytucji: 1) Ambasada RFN w Warszawie; 2) Uniwersytet w Rostoku; 3) Akademia Sankelmark w Oeversee; 3) Uniwersytet im. Christiana Albrechta w Kilonii; 4) Uniwersytet Lipski w Lipsku; 5) Uniwersytet im. Ernsta Moritza Arndta w Greifswaldzie; 6) Akademia Bałtycka w Lubece-Travemünde; 7) Europejska Akademia Meklenburgii/Pomorza Przedniego; 8) Fundacja Konrada Adenauera, filia w Rostoku, Niemiecki Parlamentem Deutscher Bundestag w Bonn i Berlinie; 9) Teatr Gripstheater w Berlinie, Teatr Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt; 10) Muzeum Krajoznawcze im. Ehma Welka w Angermünde; 11)Wkrzańskie Towarzystwo Literackie w Angermünde. Opisane są również wyprawy studyjne do Niemiec Północnych śladami pisarzy niemieckich. Te wszystkie aktywności ujęte są w szerszym kontekście rozwoju Instytutu, który jest tłem tych opisów i analiz. Swoją systemowością rozszerzyły one regionalistyczne spektrum oddziaływania nie tylko na całą Alma Mater Stetinensis, Euroregion Pomerania, ale również na dalszych zaodrzańskich partnerów z Meklenburgii/Pomorza Przedniego, Meklenburgii oraz Szlezwiku-Holsztynu. Poczynania te były nowatorskie nie tylko w odniesieniu do transgranicznych kontaktów, ale również w skali ogólnopolskiej germanistyki.
This text is the first part of the report on the mandate activities of Dr. Andrzej Talarczyk, the coordinator at the Institute of German Philology at the University of Szczecin in the field of cooperation with academic and non-academic institutions in Germany. It covers the entire period of the existence of this organisational unit, i.e. the years 1985–2019 and the first academic year of the work of the newly established Institute of Literature and New Media. The description of this part concerns the following institutions: (1) German Embassy in Warsaw, (2) University of Rostock, (3) Sankelmark Academy in Oeversee, (4) Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, (5) University of Leipzig, (6) University of Greifswald, (7) Ostsee Academy in Lübeck-Travemünde, (8) European Academy Mecklenburg/Vorpommern in Waren, (9) Konrad Adenauer Foundation, branch in Rostock, (10) Grips-Theatre in Berlin, (11) Theatre Uckermärkische Bühnen in Schwedt, (12) Ehm Welk and Local History Museum in Angermünde, (13) Uckermärkische Literaturgesellschaft in Angermünde, (14) Academia Baltica in Oeversee, (15) Visitor Service of the German Bundestag in Bonn and Berlin (16), Euroregion in Szczecin. Study trips to northern Germany in the footsteps of German writers are also described. All these activities are presented in a wider context of the Institute’s development which forms a background to these descriptions and analyses. With their systemic nature, they extended the regionalist spectrum of impact not only to the whole Alma Mater Stetinensis, Euroregion Pomerania, but also to the other partners beyond the Oder – from Mecklenburg/Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein. These projects were innovative not only in terms of cross-border contacts, but also in terms of German studies in Poland as a whole.

The constantly evolving job market in Poland demands professional development from employees, which is increasingly associated with modern foreign languages or even technical language learning. This creates not only a great demand for new employees, but also a demand for well-qualified teachers who can train the company’s employees in foreign and technical languages. Therefore, not only the employers, but also the universities, face a major challenge. The aim of this article is to examine the extent to which Polish universities prepare students to teach languages for specific purposes.

The purpose of this article is to fill in the gap in knowledge about early academic work on tourism which had developed first of all in Europe. The author has tried to achieve this aim by conducting a retrospective analysis of chronological and institutional-methodological aspects of the evolution of tourism studies. As a result, he has distinguished two aspects (each divided into two): 1) chronological: a period of precursors and a formal academic period; 2) methodological: research within one discipline and interdisciplinary research. The results enabled the author to formulate general conclusions for critical discussion. It primarily concerns the domination of the English language and the Anglo-American tradition in the literature which is the reason why the global picture of achievements in tourism studies is incomplete and thus imperfect. The accomplishments of smaller, yet well-established, “national schools” are often ignored and remain almost unknown internationally. The author hopes that the article will be an encouragement to undertake research on early tourism studies in individual countries and to publish its results internationally as this will broaden knowledge of the origins of academic work in tourism.
