Opis:: This paper presents recent approaches in soft computing to manage imprecision and uncertainty which appear in software reliability engineering. Firstly, recent approaches like imprecise probabilities, generalized intervals, fuzzy sets and intuitionistic-fuzzy sets are shortly described, and the usage of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers for system reliability computation is shown. Intuitionistic-fuzzy approaches for software reliability growth models are proposed and experimental results are given.

Opis:: In this paper we present some fuzzy modal operators and show their two possible applications. These operators are fuzzy generalizations of modal operators well-known in modal logics. We present an application of some compositions of these operators in approximations of fuzzy sets. In particular, it is shown how skills of candidates can be matched for selecting research projects. The underlying idea is based on the observation that fuzzy sets approximations can be viewed as intuitionistic fuzzy sets introduced by Atanassov. Distances between intuitionistic fuzzy sets, proposed by Szmidt and Kacprzyk, support the reasoning process. Also, we point out how modal operators are useful for representing linguistic hedges, that is terms like “very”, “definitely”, “rather”, or “more or less”.

Also we define pythagorean fuzzy subalgebra, pythagorean fuzzy ideal in BCK-algebra and investigate some properties of these ideals. Some interesting examples are given. Homomorphism of pythagorean fuzzy set in BCK-algebras are introduce. Moreover we combine the pythagorean fuzzy set and rough sets in BCK-algebras. The concept of rough pythagorean fuzzy ideals in BCK-algebras are introduce.

From the introduction: "In this article we attempt to use concepts of fuzzy set theory to formalize such ideas as `about 30', `approximately 5', few, many, etc. These ideas describe some numbers, but are not precise; hence, we call them imprecise, or fuzzy numbers. Despite their fuzzy character, one can perform various arithmetical and logical operations: X earns more than Y (even though both of them earn very little), Z earns as much as X and Y earn between them (a sum of two numbers), etc. The purpose of this paper is to define operations on these numbers so that they would reflect our intuitive ideas and would in some sense generalize corresponding operations performed on the `ordinary' real numbers. Attainment of the first objective is difficult because of its subjective character and the lack of formal criteria. For this reason, a large part of this article is devoted to the justification of this or that type of formalism.''

Opis:: There are two different concepts that are often used incorrectly - randomness and imprecision. The randomness is described on the basis of the theory of probability, whereas the analysis of the imprecision is a subject of research of the fuzzy sets theory. The theory of reliability uses the Hasofer-Lind's index for the assessment of probability of failure of structureswhich are risked by a stability loss. The limit state function in distinction of the classical one was described by applying the fuzzy sets theory. Three fuzzy areas were defined: desirable states, limit states and undesirable states. The suitable probabilities were calculated using the approximation method FORM. It enabled taking into account in the reliability analysis the weakening of a structure before appearing of the limit point on the equilibrium path.
Ocena stateczności konstrukcji w ujęciu teorii zbiorów rozmytych. Losowość i nieprecyzyjność są dwoma pojęciami o różnych, często mylonych znaczeniach. Losowość jest przedmiotem badań teorii prawdopodobieństwa, natomiast analizą nieprecyzyjności zajmuje się teoria zbiorów rozmytych. W pracy zastosowano teorię niezawodności przy użyciu wskaźnika Hasofera-Linda do oszacowania prawdopodobieństwa awarii konstrukcji narażonych na utratę statecznej postaci równowagi. W odróżnieniu od klasycznej analizy niezawodności funcję stanu granicznego określono jednak przy zastosowaniu teorii zbiorów rozmytych, formułując trzy obszary rozmyte: stanów pożądanych, stanów granicznych i stanów niepożądanych. Do obliczenia odpowiednich prawdopodobieństw użyto aproksymacyjnej metody FORM. Takie postępowanie umożliwia uwzględnienie w analizie niezawodności osłabiania się konstrukcji jeszcze przed osiągnięciem punktu granicznego na ścieżce równowagi.

Opis:: The article outlines how to use the convergence of collections to determine the position of a mobile device based on the WiFi radio signal strength with the use of fuzzy sets. The main aim is the development of the method for indoor position determination based on existing WiFi network infrastructure indoors. The approach is based on the WiFi radio infrastructure existing inside the buildings and requires operating mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. An SQL database engine is also necessary as a widespread data interface. The SQL approach is not limited to the determination of the position but also to the creation of maps in which the system dening the position of the mobile device will operate. In addition, implementation issues are presented along with the distribution of the burden of performing calculations and the benets of such an approach for determining the location. The authors describe how to decompose the task of determining the position in a client-server architecture.

A large example showing utility and helpfulness of using a probability calculus to evaluation of some economic problems. A comparison of different results by using different methods of probability proposals. Section 7. Final remarks
Praca ma ukazać zastosowanie prawdopodobieństwa zdarzenia rozmytego do oceny pewnych sytuacji ekonomicznych. W części wstępnej artykułu zarysowano ogólną ideę tak zwanego zbioru rozmytego wprowadzoną do nauki i praktyki przez L.A. Zadeha w 1965 r. Koncepcja ta wyrosła na podstawie rozwijającej się od początków XX wieku logiki wielowartościowej przy wybitnym wkładzie w tej dziedzinie polskich uczonych. Zainteresowanie tą teorią w Polsce było i jest duże, i to podniesiono w rozdziale 1. W rozdziale 2 omówiono pewne uogólnienie teorii Zadeha zaproponowane przez K. Atanassova. Ukazano zalety wprowadzenia do rozważań oprócz tzw. funkcji przynależności także funkcji nieprzynależności elementu do pewnego zbioru, a w konsekwencji pojęcia tzw. marginesu niepewności, co odpowiada wielu sytuacjom spotykanym w praktyce. Zilustrowano to przykładami. Zbiory tak scharakteryzowane nazywa się intuicjonistycznymi rozmytymi lub dwoisto rozmytymi. Rozdział 3 omawia prawdopodobieństwo zdarzenia rozmytego na podstawie prac własnych Rozdziały 4 i 5 przedstawiają inne koncepcje prawdopodobieństwa niedawno zaproponowane. Rozdział 6 stanowi ilustrację sposobu obliczenia prawdopodobieństwa według różnych koncepcji w odniesieniu do problematyki ekonomicznej. Daje to obraz zalety prognozowania opartego na wiedzy. Rozdział 7 zawiera uwagi końcowe.

Opis:: The Fuzzy SERVQUAL method enables to assess the service quality when the measurement results of the performance perception and expectations are expressed in the form of fuzzy numbers. The measurement results expressed in the form of fuzzy numbers are the results of applying the fuzzy conversion scales which are the most popular form of fuzzy scales. Fuzzy conversion scales assume that their points are expressed in the form of fuzzy numbers. The choice of fuzzy number parameters which describe the various points of measurement scales is most often subjective. The aim of the article is to assess the impact of the choice of the fuzzy conversion scale on the stability of the assessment results of the ser-vice quality using the fuzzy SERVQUAL method. The stability assessment was made both for the individual dimensions and the overall SERVQUAL score. The results of employee satisfaction surveys of the West Pomeranian Province local government were used for the purpose of the assessment. The results suggest that there is no significant impact of the form of fuzzy conversion scales on the stability of the assessment results of the service quality us-ing the fuzzy SERVQUAL method.

Opis:: The intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) have a more significant contribution to describing and dealing with uncertainty. The intuitionistic fuzzy measure is a significant consideration in the field of IFSs theory. However, Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) are an extension of the IFSs. PFSs are more capable of modelling uncertainties than IFSs in real-world decision-making scenarios. The majority of PFSs research has concentrated on establishing decision-making frameworks. A similarity measure is a key concept which measures the closeness of PFSs. IFSs-based similarity measures have been proposed in the literature. This type of similarity measure, however, has a drawback since it cannot satisfy the axiomatic definition of similarity by offering counter-intuitive examples. For this study, a similarity-based on logarithmic function for Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) is proposed as a solution to the problem. A decision-making approach is presented to ascertain the suitability of careers for aspirants. Additionally, numerical illustration is applied to determine the strength and validity of the proposed similarity measures. The application of the proposed similarity measures is also presented in this article. A comparison of the suggested measures with the existing ones is also demonstrated to ensure the reliability of the measures. The results show that the proposed similarity measures are efficient and reasonable from both numerical and realistic assessments.

Opis:: This paper proposes a modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm that can be used to solve a variety of fuzzy nonlinear equations, i.e. fuzzy polynomials and exponential equations. Fuzzy nonlinear equations are reduced to a number of interval nonlinear equations using alpha cuts. These equations are then sequentially solved using the proposed methodology. Finally, the membership functions of the fuzzy solutions are constructed using the interval results at each alpha cut. Unlike existing methods, the proposed algorithm does not impose any restriction on the fuzzy variables in the problem. It is designed to work for equations containing both positive and negative fuzzy sets and even for the cases when the support of the fuzzy sets extends across 0, which is a particularly problematic case.

Opis:: The article proposes application of artificial intelligence methods to assess students of technical universities. The level of achieved educational goals can be assessed using measurements based on the idea of Fuzzy Intuitionistic Sets (IFS). A classification algorithm was developed and an exemplary distribution of the criteria values using IFS was presented. The application of the proposed approach in online education can enrich the student evaluation process with additional information related to the uncertainty or lack of data.
W artykule proponuje się do oceny studenta uczelni technicznych użycie intuicjonistycznych zbiorów rozmytych, które znajdują zastosowanie w metodach sztucznej inteligencji. Poziom osiąganych celów edukacyjnych można ocenić za pomocą miar opartych na idei rozmytych zbiorów intuicjonistycznych (IFS). Opracowano algorytm klasyfikacji oraz zaprezentowano przykładowy rozkład wartości kryteriów z wykorzystaniem IFS. Zastosowanie proponowanego podejścia w kształceniu online może wzbogacić proces oceny studenta o dodatkowe informacje związane z niepewnością lub brakiem danych.

Opis:: When dealing with multi-criteria decision making problems, the concept of Pareto-optimality and Pareto-dominance may be inefficient (e.g. generally multiple solutions exist), especially when there is a large number of criteria. Our paper considers the fuzzy multi-criteria decision making problem based on Zadeh’s linguistic approach to P-optimality and P-dominance. The construction, analysis and application of a model of multi-criteria decision making using a fuzzy preference relation are considered. The paper is dedicated to the problem of modeling preferences in terms of fuzzy binary relations and provides an introduction to the important problem of forming fuzzy preference relations to analyze models of multi-attribute decision making. The key features of the multi-criteria evaluation, comparison, choice and ordering of alternatives in a fuzzy environment using fuzzy preference relations have been introduced.

Opis:: Managing occupational safety in any kind of industry, especially in processing, is very important and complex. This paper develops a new method for occupational risk assessment in the presence of uncertainties. Uncertain values of hazardous factors and consequence frequencies are described with linguistic expressions defined by a safety management team. They are modeled with fuzzy sets. Consequence severities depend on current hazardous factors, and their values are calculated with the proposed procedure. The proposed model is tested with real-life data from fruit processing firms in Central Serbia.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono garść rozważań nad rozmytym podejściem do analizy niektórych zjawisk, wynikającym z nieostrych granic definiujących dotyczące ich pojęcia. W celu lepszego zobrazowania rozmytego charakteru stosowanych procedur oraz ich wyników wykorzystano przykład empiryczny.
The paper presents an investigation within the subject of fuzzy methodology concerning some phenomena, which is the consequence of their fuzzy nature. In order to illustrate some fuzzy procedures and their results an empirical example is included.

To validate the model, we performed a simulation using dengue transmission-related data in Sri Lanka’s Western Province. Opis:: Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a rapidly emerging technology with a wide range of impact and still not fully exploited potential applications. The impact of RFID is not limited to the area of its direct application. There are many possible benefits to be gained from RFID application, but it must be preceded with careful analysis as its implementation is not always reasonable. A new method for an assessment of RFID technology was presented and explained on the case of a white goods manufacturer. There was a lack of such a method allowing for relatively quick and flexible assessment, which is important for decision makers, who do not want to become involved in very sophisticated and time-consuming analysis at the early stage of decision making. The method supports early phases of decision making related to RFID implementation. Conclusions derived from the analysis of the case study confirmed that the method applied allows for rationalizing decision making and answers whether RFID could generate strategic advantage, in which area RFID should be applied, how RFIDsupported processes will be executed and what benefits would be expected. previous papers focused only on answering specific questions from the above list, without showing a holistic approach. the approach to answer questions about execution of processes and benefits was not considered earlier at all. The paper illustrates details of using a new method of an assessment of RFID technology (ART) using a real industrial example.

Opis:: This paper is devoted to the evaluation of conditions involving aggregates in the context of flexible querying of relational databases. An example of such a condition is "the maximum salary of young employees is high", where the aggregate max applies to a fuzzy set of salaries. At first, we consider the evaluation of quantified statements where the aggregate count (the cardinality) is implicitly used. We extend this result to conditions involving the aggregates average, maximum or minimum. The contribution of this paper is to propose a new theoretical background for their evaluations based on an arithmetic on gradual numbers (Nƒ,Zƒ,Qƒ).

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to present the possibilities and purposefulness of the application of fuzzy set theory to the valuation of real options. Owing to temporal fluctuations in the market, some input parameters in a model of a real option cannot always be expressed in a precise sense. Therefore, it is natural to consider them as a fuzzy numbers. Such an approach allows us to keep more information about the possible value of real options. A hybrid (fuzzy-stochastic) model for valuing a switch option is presented. Under these assumptions, the value of a switch option will be a fuzzy random set. This article assesses the incremental benefit of product switch options in steel plant projects. Such options are valued by Monte Carlo simulation and modelling the prices of and demand for steel products using fuzzy geometric Brownian motion. Finally, the value of a product switch option is defined by the upper and lower probability distribution function.

Opis:: In the paper two kinds of uncertainty: randomness and imprecision are proposed to be considered in a structure description. Imprecise experts' opinions can be described using fuzzy numbers. As a results, the reliability analysis of a structure can be based on the limit state function with fuzzy parameters. As a consequence, the structural failure or survival can be treated as fuzzy events. The probabilities of these fuzzy events can be the upper and the lower estimations of the structural reliability. They can be achieved using well-known reliability methods (e.g. Hasofer-Lind index and Monte Carlo simulations). They can be used as a base for the calibration of partial safety factors in desing codes.
W niniejszej pracy proponuje się uwzględnić w opisie konstrukcji dwa rodzaje niepewności: losowość i nieprecyzyjność. Nieprecyzyjne oceny ekspertów dotyczące konstrukcji proponuje się opisywać za pomocą liczb rozmytych. W rezultacie, niezawodność konstrukcji określać się będzie w oparciu o funkcję stanu granicznego z rozmytymi parametrami. W konsekwencji, awarię konstrukcji lub jej brak traktować się będzie jako rozmyte zdarzenia losowe. Prawdopodobieństwa tych zdarzeń stanowić będą dolne i górne oszacowanie niezawodności konstrukcji. Można je wyznaczać za pomocą metod stosowanych już w niezawodności (np. wskaźnik Hasofera-Linda lub metody Monte Carlo). Mogą one służyć jako podstawa kalibrowania częściowych współczynników bezpieczeństwa w normach projektowych.

Opis:: The use of software tools in the teaching process allows us to enrich the traditional methods. Graphics and animation complement the text and create positive associations related to the presented content. Recent research shows that using the visual methods in teaching leads to better scores obtained by students. The aim of the paper is to present the dynamic visualisations of selected concepts taught in mathematics and other “quantitative” subjects at university. Our dynamic visualisations can be used during lectures to help students to better understand difficult ideas and dependencies, for example the derivate of a function, the concept of fuzzy sets and the operations on these sets as well as the concept of the best solution in multi-objective programming problems. Visualisations of these issues are prepared in GeoGebra, which combines algebra and geometry and allows for the dynamic visualisation of concepts with a mathematical background.

Opis:: An industrial gauge for measuring thickness of a gold coating layer deposited on a steel base through detection of the backscattered beta particles has been described. 3H, 14C and 63Ni pure beta emitters have been tested as the radioisotopic sources of the system individually in a fixed geometry. Analytical calculations have been performed in each case. Furthermore, simulations based on Monte Carlo stochastic technique (MCNP) have been processed. The obtained results from both methods have been compared to define the sensitivity of the system in each case. Finally for the first time, fuzzy TOPSIS method has been used for choosing the best source in the defined geometry for manufacturing, considering the following three criteria: (a) saturation thickness, (b) precision and (c) sensitivity. Results have shown that 3H source is the best alternative to the introduced measuring system.
