Opis:
Features of web-based recommending systems can be considered both from the perspective of providing access to certain options or from the commercial applications and marketing. Due to different applications different objectives and criteria for their evaluation, and application areas can be distinguished here. In the case of online platforms focused on business goals recommending interfaces play an important role that provide matching products to customer preference. Research areas related to recommending systems have usually focused on algorithmic layer and mechanisms of selection of offers. More and more often, attention is also drawn to the way of visualization offers and presentation layer. The article examines the design of recommending interfaces focused on certain acquisition-oriented interaction with a receiver, and the use of mechanisms of selection of the level of influence and persuasion. The solution enables the selection of design options, and multi-criteria assessment of the effects, which is meant to take into account both business purpose and customer satisfaction level.

This paper presents a multi-objective extended optimization methodology applied in the machining of a randomly oriented GFRP rod. Design of Experiment (DOE) has been selected based on a L9 orthogonal array design with varying process control parameters like: spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Multiple surface roughness parameters of the machined FRP product along with the Material Removal Rate (MRR) of the machining process have been optimized simultaneously. The Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) has been proposed for providing feasible means for the meaningful aggregation of multiple objective unctions into an equivalent single performance index (MPCI). This Multi-Performance Characteristic Index (MPCI) has been optimized using the Taguchi method. The approach adapted here is capable of overcoming limitations/assumptions of existing optimization methodologies available in the literature.

Opis:
This article describes a novel approach to realtime motion assessment for rehabilitation exercises based on the integration of comprehensive kinematic modeling with fuzzy inference. To facilitate the assessment of all important aspects of a rehabilitation exercise, a kinematic model is developed to capture the essential requirements for static poses, dynamic movements, as well as the invariance that must be observed during an exercise. The kinematic model is expressed in terms of a set of kinematic rules. During the actual execution of a rehabilitation exercise, the similarity between the measured motion data and the model is computed in terms of their distances, which are then used as inputs to a fuzzy interference system to derive the overall quality of the execution. The integrated approach provides both a detailed categorical assessment of the overall execution of the exercise and the degree of adherence to individual kinematic rules.

Wyniki autorskiego algorytmu do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych porównano z jedną z istniejących metod do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych.
Nowadays, mass spectrometry is widely used in proteomics for confident and precise identification of the protein. One of the most important steps in the signal analysis is deisotoping because some peaks in the spectrum are not the unique compound, but there are members of an isotopic envelope. Although the mass spectrometry is present in proteomics for a long time already, the problem of isotope peaks identification is not solved yet. The existing algorithms, usually designed for the particular type of spectrometer, are semi-supervised and do not give satisfactory results. We propose a new algorithm based on fuzzy inference systems that can accurately identify the isotopic envelopes in the spectrum of the complex structure.

The Volumetric Capnography (VC) is the plot of amounts of expired CO₂ within one tidal breath. The estimation of physiologic parameters derived from the VC is useful in the study of respiratory physiology, clinical anesthesia and critical care medicine. In this work we propose the use of a function based on a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model and a functional approximation based on the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to approximate the VC, with the goal to compute two variables of interest: the airway dead space (VDaw) and the slope of the so-called Phase III (SIII). These models presented a good performance in those capnograms that showed difficulties to be modeled with traditional medical analysis.

This paper presents comparison of two methods for assessment of hazards to ship power plant operator, used in the preliminary stage of ship power plant design process: the matrix method and that based on fuzzy logic. And, it reports this way results of realization of the research projects [1, 2] financed by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The assessment of hazard to ship power plant operator, carried out at preliminary design stages meets certain difficulties resulting from that information connected with his safety are scarce or associated with high uncertainty. Therefore fuzzy logic was decided to be used to safety assesment. It was found out that at preliminary design stages application of the fuzzy-logic-based assessment yielded better results as compared with the classic matrix method.

Opis:
In hydrology and water resources engineering, predicting the flow coefficient is a crucial task that helps estimate the precipitation resulting in a surface flow. Accurate flow coefficient prediction is essential for efficient water management, flood control strategy development, and water resource planning. This investigation calculated the flow coefficient using models based on Simple Membership functions and fuzzy Rules Generation Technique (SMRGT) and an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) model. The fuzzy logic methods are used to model the intricate connections between the inputs and the output. Statistical parameters such as the coefficient of determination (R2), the root mean square error (RMSE), the mean absolute error (MAE), and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) were used to evaluate the performance of models. The statistical tests outcome for the SMRGT model was (RMSE:0.056, MAE:1.92, MAPE:6.88, R2:0.996), and for the ANFIS was (RMSE:0.96, MAE:2.703, MAPE:19.97, R2:0.8038). According to the findings, the SMRGT, a physics-based model, exhibited superior accuracy and reliability in predicting the flow coefficient compared to ANFIS. This is attributed to the SMRGT’s ability to integrate expert knowledge and domain-specific information, rendering it a viable solution for diverse issues.

Opis:
This study attempts to find a fuzzy logic system for assessing the quality of water in water treatment plants (WTPs) providing water for irrigation purposes in the Basrah Governorate (South of Iraq). Each month, samples are taken in each of six major WTPs to measure electrical conductivity (EC), and the content of sodium, magnesium and calcium. The calculated value which is the sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) is plotted with EC on the Richard diagram. SAR and EC values are combined together in a fuzzy inference system (FIS) to find out a quality number called the fuzzy irrigation water quality index number (FIWQI) which ranges from zero to one. The higher the value of the index, the better water quality. The Richard diagram, which helps to classify irrigation water, is used to adjust FIS components. Results show that the FIWQI for all WTPs changes depending on location and season. It ranges between 0.114–0.170, 0.120–0.190, 0.114–0.170, 0.114–0.202, 0.118–0.500 and 0.46–0.500 for Al-Bradhaia 1, Al-Jubaila 1, Shatt Al-Arab, Garmmah 1, Al-Rebat, and Old Shauaibah WTPs, respectively. The results indicate that WTPs effluent drawn from the Shatt Al-Arab River has poor water quality for irrigation purposes, except for an Old Shauaibah which receives water from another source called a sweet water canal. FIS results are compared with values obtained from the Richard diagram and 96% degree of compatibility between the two methods is attained. This indicates that FIS is an acceptable method for water quality classification.

The use of Multi Agents Systems (MAS), Cloud Computing (CC) and Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) in e-commerce has increased in recent years. The purpose of these systems is to enable users of electronic markets to make transactions in the best conditions and to help them in their decisions. The design and implementation is often characterized by the constant manipulation of information, many of which are imperfect. The use of the multi-agent paradigm for the realization of these systems implies the need to integrate mechanisms that take into account the processing of fuzzy information. This makes it necessary to design multi-agent systems (MAS) with fuzzy characteristics. For the modeling and realization of this system, we chose to use the FMAS model. This paper deals with the presentation of the use of the Fuzzy MAS model for the development of a management and decision support application in a virtual market with high availability. After the presentation of the system to be realized in the first section, we describe in the second section the application of the model FMAS for the design and the realization of this system. We then specify the JADE implementation platform and how the fuzzy agents of our model (Expert, Choice and Query) can be implemented using this platform.

Fuzzy inference using the conjunctive approach is very popular in many practical applications. It is intuitive for engineers, simple to understand, and characterized by the lowest computational complexity. However, it leads to incorrect results in the cases when the relationship between a fact and a premise is undefined. This article analyses the problem thoroughly and provides several possible solutions. The drawbacks of uncertainty in the conjunctive approach are presented using fuzzy inference based on a fuzzy truth value, first introduced by Baldwin (1979c). The theory of inference is completed with a new truth function named 0-undefined for two-valued logic, which is further generalized into fuzzy logic as α-undefined. Eventually, the proposed modifications allow altering existing implementations of conjunctive fuzzy systems to interpret the undefined state, giving adequate results.

Opis:
This paper concerns fuzzy neural networks and fuzzy inference neural networks, which are two different approaches to neuro-fuzzy combinations. The former is a direct fuzzification of artificial neural networks by introducing fuzzy signals and fuzzy weights. The latter is a representation of fuzzy systems in the form of multi-layer connectionist networks, similar to neural networks. Parameters of membership functions (centers and widths) play the role of neural network weights. In this paper, fuzzy inference neural networks with fuzzy parameters are considered. Neuro-fuzzy systems of this kind utilize both approaches: fuzzy neural networks and fuzzy inference neural networks. They also pertain to fuzzy systems of type 2 since membership functions with fuzzy parameters characterize type 2 fuzzy sets. Various architectures of these networks have been obtained for fuzzy systems based on different fuzzy implications. By analogy with fuzzy inference neural networks with crisp parameters, methods of learning fuzzy parameters and rule generation can be derived for neuro-fuzzy systems with fuzzy parameters. Fuzzy inference neural networks are studied in the framework of fuzzy granulation. In particular, fuzzy clustering as fuzzy information granulation is proposed to be applied in order to generate fuzzy IF-THEN rules. Applications of fuzzy inference neural networks are also outlined.
