Celem opracowania jest próba oceny sytuacji finansowej przedsiębiorstw z kapitałem zagranicznym w Polsce w latach 2010-2015. Przedstawiono najpierw zmiany w dynamice BIZ, ich rozmieszczenie oraz formy napływu. Następnie zbadano rolę BIZ w tworzeniu miejsc pracy i w rozwoju eksportu i importu. Wykonano analizę porównawczą sytuacji finansowej przedsiębiorstw z kapitałem zagranicznym na tle ogółu przedsiębiorstw z kapitałem krajowym Wyniki analizy potwierdziły wyższą efektywność przedsiębiorstw z udziałem kapitału zagranicznego, mierzoną wielkością zysku, wskaźnikami zatrudnienia i wydajności pracy, rentowności i płynności finansowej.
The aim of the study is an attempt to assess the financial situation of enterprises with foreign capital in Poland in 2010-2015. The paper presents changes in the dynamics of FDI, their distribution and forms of inflow. The role of FDI in job creation and the development of exports and imports has also been explored. The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of the financial situation of enterprises with foreign capital against the background of the total number of enterprises with national capital. The results of the analysis showed that companies with foreign capital get better results as measured by profit, employment rates and labor productivity, profitability and financial liquidity. The paper focuses on the conditions and forms of the influx of the foreign capital to the Polish bank sector. The stages of the introduction of foreign investors to Polish banks have been analysed, their participation in the funds of their own banks and assets, together with the commitment to the deposit-credit activity. Eventually, an attempt has been made to briefly characterise the impact of the foreign capital on Polish banks. Our analysis indicates a considerable contribution of the foreign capital to the Polish bank sector and its positive impact on the development of competition, including its controversial role in crediting Polish enterprises, especially small and medium.

Research background: The study investigates the initial phase of budgeting process conducted in corporations. The basic concept correlates with findings in scientific literature that describe budgeting as an inefficient tool, burdened by considerable regulation in the preparation and compilation stages. As a consequence, the majority of academics and practitioners have concluded that producing a budget is merely a formality that minimizes wrinkles on the faces of their initiators, while reaping debatable benefits for managerial control. Purpose of the article: This paper compares data from the literature with the actual budgetary practices of companies operating in the Czech Republic. The attention was paid to the detailed aspects of the budgeting process, factors affecting the time it takes to prepare a budget, and the impact of ownership structure, especially the role of foreign ownership and foreign capital, on the level of decentralization in the budgeting process. Methods: The authors examined these topics through a questionnaire completed by 136 respondents, primarily industrial companies based in the country. The subsequent hypotheses were assessed via application of the Z-test. Findings & Value added: The results presented show that the budgeting practices of the Czech firms are not only influenced by traditional factors (e.g. the size of the company and its given economic sector), but also certain other aspects. Essential facets comprise the ownership structure and the share of foreign capital involved, the latter affecting the extent of autonomy of the business as to the budgetary process. This submitted paper can extend the current theory with new findings on the specific nature of budgeting in post-socialist countries with an open economy and the significant influx of foreign capital.

Opening of national banking sector always started discussions and disputes. It is a common knowledge that countries in transition needed capital and technological support to improve economic competitiveness but there were some concerns about control over banking sector. Currently, this debate has started again. The aim of this work is to analyse the development of banking sectors of Visehrad countries in 1999-2010. In the first part described the process of foreign investment in these sectors. In the second part measures of functions fulfilled by a well developed sector were estimated and index of development of banking sectors of Visehrad countries was constructed.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie ewolucji obecności kapitału zagranicznego w systemie bankowym Rosji od początku okresu transformacji do początku lat 20. XXI w. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że w okresie 30 lat tych przemian w Rosji można wyróżnić kilka odmiennych kierunków przepływów kapitału właścicielskiego do systemu bankowego i czynników wpływu na te przepływy. W początkowym okresie transformacji występowała silna presja napływu kapitału zagranicznego do rosyjskiej bankowości, która była ograniczana przez formalne i nieformalne działania ze strony rządu i banku centralnego. Należy tu wspomnieć o ustalanych przez rząd limitach obecności kapitału zagranicznego w kapitale systemu bankowego w celu ochrony rodzimej bankowości przed zagraniczną konkurencją. Surowe procedury weryfikacji potencjalnych inwestorów zagranicznych przez bank centralny miały na celu ochronę rosyjskiej bankowości przed napływem kapitału spekulacyjnego oraz nadmiernym i niekontrolowanym dopuszczeniem do rynku usług bankowych wiarygodnych instytucji finansowych. Tendencja wzrostu udziału kapitału zagranicznego w rosyjskiej bankowości zatrzymała się w okresie kryzysu bankowego w 1998 r., kiedy kapitał zagraniczny w obawie przed stratami wycofywał się z Rosji. W latach 1999-2008 można zauważyć wzrost obecności kapitału zagranicznego, który został zatrzymany w okresie światowego kryzysu finansowego w efekcie wycofywania się kapitału z rynków wschodzących. W okresie 2009-2014 kapitał zagraniczny w kapitale własnym rosyjskiego sektora bankowego wyraźnie się umacniał, ale ten trend został przerwany przez sankcje gospodarcze zastosowane wobec Rosji przez Zachód w konsekwencji agresywnej polityki Rosji wobec Ukrainy i wojny rosyjsko-ukraińskiej. Od 2014 r. obserwuje się załamanie ekspansji nowych instytucji finansowych w rosyjskiej bankowości, a jednocześnie silne umocnienie pozycji banków z udziałem kapitału zagranicznego, szczególnie tych działających od dłuższego czasu na rynku rosyjskim i mocno już osadzonych w rosyjskim systemie bankowym. Banki te cieszą się wysoką wiarygodnością i są darzone zaufaniem klientów.
The aim of the article is to present the evolution of foreign capital presence in the banking system of Russia from the beginning of the transformation period to the beginning of the 20s of the 21st century. The analysis shows that during the 30 years of these transformations in Russia, several different ownership capital flows into the banking system and factors influencing these flows can be highlighted. In the initial period of the transformation, there was a strong pressure on the inflow of foreign capital to the Russian banking sector, which was limited by formal and informal actions by the government and the central bank. The limits set by the government on the presence of foreign capital in the capital of the banking system in order to protect the domestic banking from foreign competition should also be mentioned. Strict procedures for the verification of potential foreign investors by the central bank were aimed at protecting Russian banking against the inflow of speculative capital and the excessive and uncontrolled admission of reliable financial institutions to the banking services market. The upward trend in the share of foreign capital in Russian banking stopped during the banking crisis in 1998, when foreign capital withdrew from Russian fearing losses. In 1999-2008, an increase in the presence of foreign capital can be noticed, which was halted during the global financial crisis as a result of the withdrawal of capital from emerging markets. In the period of 2009-2014, foreign capital in the equity of the Russian banking sector clearly strengthened, but this trend was interrupted by economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the West as a consequence of Russia’s aggressive policy towards Ukraine and the Russian-Ukrainian war. Since 2014, we have witnessed a collapse in the expansion of new financial institutions in the Russian banking sector, and at the same time a strong strengthening of the position of banks with foreign capital, especially those operating on the Russian market for a long time and already firmly embedded in the Russian banking system. These banks enjoy high credibility and are trusted by customers.

In the article, the authors present the results of surveys conducted among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with foreign capital from the Lublin province, verifying the hypothesis if the foreign capital is conducive to companies' innovativeness. In the first part of the paper authors refer to selected theoretical issues concerning enterprise's innovativeness and discuss the theoretical basis of the importance of foreign capital for innovativeness of companies, with particular emphasis on the SME sector. In the second part article the results of research focusing on the evaluation of innovative activity of the surveyed enterprises, the effects of their innovative activity and the issues of financing for this activity are presented.

Artykuł przedstawia problematykę restrukturyzacji starych okręgów przemysłowych w kontekście napływu inwestycji zagranicznych na przykładzie Huty Silesia w Rybniku. Artykuł na wstępie przedstawia charakterystykę okręgu rybnickiego, zachodzące w regionie zmiany oraz opisuje sytuację Huty Silesia. Następnie prezentuje efekty funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw zagranicznych w regionie. Wyniki badań stanowią odpowiedź na pytanie o wpływ kapitału zagranicznego na restrukturyzację starych okręgów przemysłowych.
The article discusses the problem of restructuring old industrial areas in the context of foreign investment inflow, using the case of Silesia Steelwork (Huta Silesia) in Rybnik. Old industrial areas constitute a complex socioeconomic problem. Their restructuring, resulting from objective economic processes, is necessary and inevitable. One of the incentives for the transformation is foreign capital which can possibly play an important role in the transformation process. The article begins with the general characteristics of the Rybnik area, describes changes in the region and the situation of Huta Silesia. Further on it presents the influence of foreign undertakings in the region. The conclusions bring the final assessment of the role of foreign capital in restructuring old industrial areas.

The development and the resultant growth in the value of a company is achieved, among other things, by changing its equity structure. Ownership transformations, which have an impact on changes in company equity structure, should be given a required shape, character and pace; these transformations, therefore, should be controlled competently. Consequently, privatisation will be treated as a basic element of ownership transformation and as a factor responsible for changes in company equity structure. Research into three forms of capital at the Rzeczpospolita daily’s largest companies suggests that private capital, foreign capital included, is clearly prevalent. It has constantly, though unsteadily, been increasing its predominance over state capital.

Opis:
Głównym celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza napływu bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych do polskich miast. Do realizacji tego celu niezbędne było zarysowanie teoretycznego tła obejmującego przegląd definicji bezpośrednich inwestycji zagranicznych (BIZ) wraz z przedstawionymi definicjami autorów oraz analiza literatury przedmiotu zagadnienia znaczenia BIZ dla rozwoju gospodarczego Polski. Główny cel artykułu został zrealizowany przez opracowanie dwóch prezentowanych w artykule rankingów. Pierwszy dotyczy uszeregowania polskich miast pod względem liczby „przyciągniętych” inwestycji zagranicznych, w dłuższym okresie, to jest od początku transformacji ustrojowej do 2012 roku. Natomiast drugi ranking ukazuje miasta uszeregowane według liczby „przyciągniętych” inwestorów zagranicznych w latach 2008-2012.
The main goal of the present article is to analyze the inflow of foreign direct investments according to their location in Polish cities. To realize this goal it was necessary to draft theoretical background comprising review of definitions of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) together with presented authors own definition and analyze of literature within the theme of the significance of FDI for the economic development of Poland. The main goal of the article has been realized through two rankings worked out by authors. First one concerns arranging Polish cities according to the number of attracted bigger FDI in the long-term, that is from the beginning of Polish transformation up to the end of year 2012. The second ranking differs from the first one because of period of time which is shorter term of last five years 2008-2012.
