Opis:: Briefly characteristic of m/f „Polonia" ferry has been presented. For the port of Ystad, topographical, hydro and meteorological conditions have been described. Moorings of the “Polonia” ferry at the port of Ystad have been discussed. Researches based on experts’ questionnaire and statistical methods of analyses have been exemplified. Finally there are some conclusions concerning improvements of ferries manoeuvres safety.

Opis:: The presented method for defining the conditions of safe operation of marine ferries in ferry terminals allows verification of shipowner ferry designs. In the first stage of this method, simulations are used to determine the allowable wind speed. The second stage comprises simulations of ferry berthing aimed at defining safe manoeuvring areas, the energy of berthing impact and propeller stream speeds at allowable wind speeds. The method was used in the design of a 228 m long hybrid ferry.

Opis:: The paper presents a two-stage optimisation approach of sea-going ferry main particulars intended for a particular route. The method is especially suited for determining owner's specific design requirements. The goal of the first stage is a maximisation of cargo capacity, mostly in terms of the total lane length. Empirical method based on the fleet statistics of existing ferries is used throughout the stage one. The objective function of the second stage are the capital and service costs of a ferry, which are to be minimised. The solution of the latter optimisation will essentially involve a ship manoeuvring motions simulation.

Opis:: The paper introduces some possible manoeuvres of the ferry „Gryf” in difficult hydro and meteorological conditions, in which standard methods do not permit execution of mooring and unmooring. Brief characteristics of the ferry m/f „Gryf” have been presented. Typical and most often met extreme hydro and meteorological conditions have been described for ?winouj?cie and Ystad. Examplary techniques of manoeuvres have also been presented for both ports of operation.
