Opis:: Działalność gospodarcza opiera się na wykorzystaniu zasobów naturalnych, kapitałowych i ludzkich (społecznych). We wcześniejszych ujęciach określano je także jako tzw. czynniki wzrostu gospodarczego w postaci ziemi, kapitału i pracy. Ostatnio wyodrębnia się również technologię lub przedsiębiorczość – czyli umiejętności łączenia tych podstawowych czynników. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie modelu powiązań gospodarki z naturą oraz analiza wpływu ograniczoności zasobów naturalnych na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy w ujęciu tzw. słabej i mocnej trwałości rozwoju, z rozróżnieniem kryzysu wydobycia i kryzysu zaopatrzenia.
The paper presents a discussion on the natural resources and the conditions of their exploitation in time of scarcity of certain resources and the renewable character of others. In particular, the paper focuses on the interconnection of the economy and the environment with the application of formulae describing relationships between the primary and secondary resources, waste and consumption. Further on, the author proceeds with the presentation of the impact made by the limited resources on social and economic development along the weak and strong sustainability of development approach, making a distinction between the crisis of exploitation and the crisis of supply. In the analysis, the author used various statistical data on the production of major resources and power generation in the world, and the use of primary energy carriers in Poland.

Polish e-democracy: legal state of affairs
Opis:: One of the elements upon which e-Government is based is electronic democracy. It stands for a broad range of activities engaging citizens in state matters. In Poland, it is difficult to find examples of such activities whether in the area of e-Voting, e-Engagement, e-Controllership, or e-Consultation. This is due to many reasons, one of which may be errors committed by the legislator, and upheld by it, with respect to the conceptual framework related to the e-Government, as well as the conceptual framework used in acts of law, while another reason may be the legislative quality of some of them. The phenomenon which raises the highest concern, however, is the fact that the initiatives that are undertaken, usually at local, not central, level, arouse very little interest among citizens, who do not trust public administrative authorities providing the solutions to question. By way of illustration, the paper presents local solutions related to electronic voting, and central solutions related to public information. Due to the scarcity of solutions and their often questionable quality, it is hard to say that in Poland electronic democracy solutions are well developed and shaped.

Opis:: Introduction and objective. E2F transcription factor 2 (E2F2) protein is the transcription factor that plays an important role in tumorigenesis. E2F2 effects the cell cycle, tumor suppressor proteins, and can also be transformed by proteins of small DNA tumor viruses. The objective of the study is to provide a summary of the current knowledge on the neoplastic pathways that involve E2F2. State of knowledge. Numerous studies have demonstrated a role for E2F2 in various signaling pathways. Certain components of these pathways may serve as potential targets for oncological therapy. E2F2 has been shown to be associated with neoplasms of various locations and histological types (breast, colon, gastric, laryngeal, liver, lung, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers). Conclusions. Further investigations of E2F2 pathways are warranted for a clearer understanding of neoplastic processes and to identify novel pharmacological treatments.

Opis:: Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are offering new avenues for economic empowerment to individuals around the world. However, they also provide a powerful tool that facilitates criminal activities such as human trafficking and illegal weapons sales that cause great harm to individuals and communities. Cryptocurrency advocates have argued that the ethical dimensions of cryptocurrency are not qualitatively new, insofar as money has always been understood as a passive instrument that lacks ethical values and can be used for good or ill purposes. In this paper, we challenge such a presumption that money must be ‘value-neutral.’ Building on advances in artificial intelligence, cryptography, and machine ethics, we argue that it is possible to design artificially intelligent cryptocurrencies that are not ethically neutral but which autonomously regulate their own use in a way that reflects the ethical values of particular human beings – or even entire human societies. We propose a technological framework for such cryptocurrencies and then analyse the legal, ethical, and economic implications of their use. Finally, we suggest that the development of cryptocurrencies possessing ethical as well as monetary value can provide human beings with a new economic means of positively influencing the ethos and values of their societies.
