In the past years, numerous efforts for reformation of the traditional education system were witnessed in connection with changes in society. The educational process needs to be organized in a way which ensures individual development of a person to a full extent of his or her capabilities in order to prepare him or her for the best possible integration into society. Pre-primary education is an important milestone in the education of children who are spontaneous in their actions and communication. This paper focuses on the use of a creative drama which uses experiential and cooperative teaching during creative activities which enhance the development of child’s personality. Creative drama represents learning through experience and emphasizes the individuality of every person. Drama activities create space for gaining new experience and active participation in various creative drama situations.
Działania dramatyczne stwarzają przestrzeń do zdobywania nowych doświadczeń i aktywnego uczestnictwa w różnych sytuacjach dramowych.

Opis:
The article discusses the figure of a journalist presented in the contemporary drama scripts. The author analyzes how consistent journalists are, if they observe professional ethical standards and if they treat their profession as a calling and mission or only a way of making a living. The analysis of three dramas – Witaj Barabaszu by Jarosław Jakubowski, Powrót do Reims by Beniamin Bukowski and Wolny strzelec by Ishbel Szatrawska – suggests that the journalists featuring in the dramas treat their profession as a way of creating reality, manipulating facts along with their reception, taking advantage of guests and informers to present a subjective account of events. When preparing the materials, they fail to maintain integrity, especially the principle of being unbiased and objective. The descriptions of the journalists indicate a loss of public confidence in media-related professions. Many current journalists have ceased to be thoughtful professionals and turned into being entertainment providers, manipulators or celebrities. The theater seems to hyperbolize this situation to put the problem in the spotlight and encourage a public debate.

Opis:
Eminent Russian theatre makers, playwrights and theatre critics are not unanimous in their opinion on the matter of the indispensability of political drama. The majority of them maintain that there is a need for political drama in the times of excessive politicization of the mass media. However, they make it clear that theatre productions should not be a direct response to the events, actions and political activities of the governing authorities, individuals and organizations, but merely reflections on the human condition in the new social reality. The subject of our study is the issue of references in the recent Russian political drama to the the politicized Soviet plays of the 1970 with respect to the theme: an individual vs. government, the principles of exercising power, democracy and equal rights and the role of the mass media; and with respect to artistic means of expression: narrative and journalistic, a documentary and parodic manner, the poetics of the absurd and non-canonical genre stylization. From the point of view of the theme, the contemporary drama continues the tradition of the leading playwrights of the ‘new wave’, and as for the way of expression, new solutions are proposed, such as: irony, parody, and the idea of the absurd, with reference to theatre of the absurd.

This research is dedicated to the issue of the classical drama reception, which  is supposed to be canonical, used in the play of Odessian playwright Alexandr Mardan. The concept of modern times appears in Mardan’s plays through the literary and cultural inheritance of the past. The usage of Chekhov’s motives in both plays we deal with — Antract and Anshlag seems not only to resemble the form used in the mass culture, but also stylization and reinterpretation of the classic, which appear here as modern literary devices through which the interpretation of canonical drama occurs.  In both plays one can observe a lack of presentation of classical motives in a modern, revolutionary form, there is no retrieval to the precedent writings with the final idea  of elaborating on Chekhov thoughts. Furthermore, the classical motives are used for the reinterpretation of how theater may influence the modern human being and how endless the attempts to interpret the classic are.

The article entitled ”Education meets arts: ’dramatic’ experiences in the foreign language classroom” aims at presenting drama as an effective tool to be used in the foreign language classroom. It describes the beginnings of drama-in-education and presents the most common drama strategies. The author proves that in the modern English language classroom dramabased activities are an invaluable source of meaningful communicative simulations. Firstly, drama motivates shy students to participate in the group activities; secondly, drama-based activities have an endless communicative potential being based on everyday communicative situations; finally, they enlighten the classroom atmosphere and break the ice bringing fun and joy both for the students and the teacher.

Many of Beckett characters suffer from different kinds of disabilities and impairments, this being one of the ways of punishing them for “the eternal sin of having been born.” The article discusses blindness in Waiting for Godot, Endgame and All That Fall. In the first of these plays blindness afflicts Pozzo during the interval between the two acts, that is during a single night. Combined with the loss of his watch it is indicative of his entering the subjective realm of timelessness. The blindness of Hamm in Endgame and his inability to walk make him dependant on Clov who is unable to sit, which recalls Pozzo’s dependence on Lucky in the second act. Similarly, the blind Mr Rooney also must get help from other people to be able to move around. In the case of all three plays blindness must be perceived on a literal, as well as metaphorical level.

The author analyses historical drama devoted to the period of confusion in the history of old Russia. Authors such as: A. Pushkin, A. Chomiakov or A. Ostrovsky also turned their attention to the relationship of the False Dimitri with Marina Mnishech, the daughter of Sandomierz province governor who helped the false tsar in his march on Moscow. The coronation of Marina awakened fears of Russians and hope on the part of the Polish since this could enable to gain control over Russia. Many playwrights make a mention of this important event, but not always is it the base for construction of their plays. The purpose of this paper is to show the plays in which plays the motif of Dimitri and Marina is essential, and, without which the architectonics of the plays would be disrupted, this motive appeared there only due to the political and historic role it played.

Opis:
Process drama or educational drama, the use of dramatic approaches in literacy class, is not a classroom performance or a skit. It is not a classroom event where students memorize a script and perform a story for other students to watch. For Heathcote and Herbert (1985), Carroll (1986), O’Neill and Lambert (1982), Warner (2013) and Taylor (2006), or Edmiston (2013), it has become the tool to explore social issues, history, or science lessons that have “less emphasis on story and character development and more on problem-solving and living through a particular moment in time” (Wagner, 1999, p.5). Studies on classroom talks during dramatic interactions, unfortunately, are limited. After a systemic online search, three studies are selected for further analysis: Harden (2015), Epstein (2004), and Kao, et al. (2011). These three existing studies explore the discourses in educational drama settings from various contexts, participants, and texts. The three studies are examined for their positions in the extant literature, methodology, and contributions to the field. The examination reveals the predominant perspectives, methodologies, dramatic strategies, and issues frequently discussed within the field.

The types of sequences that open TV series have changed, too. Filmmakers employ various ‘opening strategies’ to make their productions stand out and attract audiences’ attention. The initial scenes highlight dynamic action, set the tone and express the central conflict. Other types of opening aim to explicate the main protagonist to make them intriguing. This article will provide the definition of ‘opening scenes’, and their typology will be discussed based on selected examples.

In one of Tymoteusz Karpowicz's most ambitious dramaturgic attempts – Przerwa w podróży (A Stop in the Journey) – the protagonists representing the most general categories of human existence and various aspects of human activity, who are `all passengers of all means of communication', are put in the situation of existential suspense. A stop in the journey in the spatial sense makes it possible to travel into the depth of oneself, it becomes a chance to throw away all the redundancy of life and find in oneself the integral `ego', independent of functionality, that is of the roles that one has to play. The transitional reality in which the dramatis personae find themselves validates many interpretative orders, which in turn gives the characters many dimensions – they make ambiguous gestures, actions and their relations become ambiguous. A confrontation of many interpretation planes creates a polyphonic world of creative “all-possibility”, which, however, has its inner logic that is reflected in the way of presenting the protagonists and in the subsequent sequences bringing changes of arrangements and oppositions that are formed between them. The changing configurations, in which the characters look for affirmation of their existence in the relation with a partner, constitute the process of becoming mature enough – in experiencing oneself and others – to have one's own authentic consciousness; to one's humanity.

The article is devoted to the specifics of the theatrical reception of Jon Fosse’s work in Poland with particular reference to the first Polish stage productions of his drama The Name (Namnet). The point of reference for the Polish reception is Jens-Morten Hanssen’s research, based on social network theory, into the dynamics of the development of the worldwide interest in Fosse’s drama as well as the nodal and the turning moments points of its stage history. The article characterises the influence of Norwegian cultural institutions and artistic networks on the presence of this dramaturgy in Polish theatre life. The characterisation is based on an analysis and interpretation of the organisational, artistic and cultural determinants of the stage productions of The Name in Warsaw and Wroclaw in 2001, and in Szczecin in 2002.
