Opis:
The article includes the content of sample experiments whose results may be useful in the management of human capital creativity. It presents selected experiment concepts concerning ideational fluency, flexibility and originality and their subordination to basic patterns: simple real experimental patterns, simple basic pre-experimental patterns, simple basic quasi-experimental patterns. In addition, it includes the account of the experiment on attitude shaping. Methodical, ethical and economic limits of experiment application were determined, based on the analysis of reference books related to the method of the experiment and creativity management. The way to understand the constraints is included below in the glossary of key phrases. The subject of the study was chosen on the basis of the existent research gap. As results from analyses based on the study of foreign reference books conducted by J. Samul [2015], the experiment is still a rarely used research method in the area of human capital management. It can, therefore, be concluded that the same also (and perhaps even more so) applies to experiments concerning the management of employee creativity.

Opis:
Background. Universities possess an inherent imperative of self-improvement derived from their mission and they act as a source, transformer and propagator of learning and knowledge. Therefore incorporating a learning organisation concept in higher education institutions (HEIs) seems natural. Research aims. A lack of clear and explicit practical hints on how to incorporate the concept into a university was identified as a cognitive gap in the literature. The key research aim of the paper was to analyse the concept of a learning organisation in the context of HEIs, present conditions facilitating implementation of the concept in HEIs and indicate how systematic usage of benchmarking can help HEIs to become learning organisations. Method. In the paper an in-depth study and critical analysis of literature on learning organisation in the context of HEIs was performed. The author points to benchmarking as a tool enhancing the impact of the learning organisation concept. In the study a set of recommendations for HEIs aiming at becoming a learning organisation was developed. Key Findings. In the paper the thesis that systematic usage of benchmarking helps a university  to become a learning organisation was stated and supported. Benchmarking comprises interorganisational learning. It involves descriptive learning about competition and  the environment of the organisation. Universities willing to become learning organisations should develop a climate of creativity and lateral thinking which enhances learning in the process of benchmarking.

Purpose – The aim of the study was to identify HRM practices in the area of knowledge management applied in Polish innovative enterprises and their relationship with the enterprises’ innovation.Design/Methodology/Approach – The paper presents results of a study covering innovative enterprises operating in Poland. The questionnaire study was conducted among managers responsible for HRM in the enterprises.Findings – The following aspects were supported among HRM practices regarding knowledge management in the studied companies: employees’ creativity, work groups and project teams. Relationships were identified between specific HRM practices in knowledge management and creative, talented workers and management cadre constituting internal sources of innovation, effectiveness of innovation process phases, and the scale of novelty of implemented innovations.Research limitations/implications – The weakness of the presented studies can be observed in sampling. The sample encompassed businesses manifesting various scopes of implemented innovations (from global to organization innovation) and representing various industries.Practical implications – The findings of this study may be used by companies interested in implementing innovations in the organization. Results of the study indicate that the more innovations in knowledge management were implemented, the greater the number of these originated internally, the innovative process took a more effective course, and the scope of innovations was broader.Originality/value – The study applied an original set of HRM practices and a multi-dimensional approach to organizations’ innovation. The assessment of the degree to which HRM practices in knowledge management are applied in innovative businesses is also valuable.Article type – Research paper.

Project management
Opis:
Aim/purpose – The main purpose of this paper is to identify the necessity of distinguishing a particular taxonomic group termed creative projects. Is it a peculiar, distinctive type of projects, or nowadays every project can be denominated ‘creative’? The research aims at comparing the ways of understanding and defining this term in prior literature and in the opinions of practitioners involved in everyday project management and realization. Design/methodology/approach – The paper is divided into main parts corresponding to research objectives: first, the results of literature research is demonstrated briefly, and next the results of empirical research are delineated. The empirical research was conducted with mixed methods. The quantitative part conducted as CAWI was supported by Poll Everywhere platform, the qualitative investigations were supported by MAXQDA software. Findings – According to research results, there exists the inconsistency among the views of researchers, as well as practitioners. As the literature review reveals, there are various stances towards this issue: from silent assumption that the concept does not require to be defined till some analyses of the relations between routine and creative actions. Similar variety was disclosed when analyzing practitioners’ judgments. Research implications/limitations – The divergence in opinions as to the necessity of distinguishing a particular taxon of creative projects as well as the broad variety of opinions as to their specific characteristics have given rise to the call for more precise framing scientific research on creative projects. The research has numerous limitations result-ing from its scope, sampling method or sample size, however, it demonstrates the absence of coherent views and variety of arguments used. Originality/value/contribution – Apart from urging the more rigorous frames of research on creative projects, the paper indicates new avenues of investigations oriented towards determining the ways of assessing the level of project creativity. Moreover, the paper opens the further discussion on the education and training of more creative project managers, as well as on the designing creativity-supporting project environment.

The research was carried out in five enterprises engaged in the business of construction and renovation activities. The surveyed employees were employed in various positions and at various organizational levels, they took part in the survey and in individual interviews. Questions from the first part of the questionnaire generally concerned issues related to occupational health and safety. The second part concerned issues directly related to the safety management system as well as the creativity and participation of employees in improving work safety in the surveyed enterprise. Empirical studies have shown that some of the surveyed employees have a rather passive attitude towards systemic issues. The article uses the approach that puts human events in the epicenter as one of the most important drivers of changes taking place in enterprises. In order to further improve the functioning of the implemented and maintained systems, enterprises have created their own set of practiced forms of employee participation.

Innowacje i procesy transformacji struktury wewnętrznej sprawiły, że firmy dostrzegają potencjał zespolonych zasobów siły roboczej; międzynarodowa arena biznesu jest przesiąknięta konwencjonalnymi „wspomagaczami” zarządzania, a dotychczasowe metody przestają wystarczać. Firmy poszukują otwartości na świat, przekraczania barier i łamania konwenansów, hołdując konotacji „kreatywny pracownik to kreatywna organizacja”. Though the issue of knowledge management is a hot subject of interest in nowadays market companies, integrated solutions fit to the specific needs of research institutes still require more attention. This paper documents a part of the research activities performed at National Institute of Telecommunications, related to development of research institute knowledge management support system. The ideas lying in the background of the system come from the recent theories of knowledge creation and creativity support and from experience with everyday practice of knowledge management in market companies. Main focus is put here on the issue of creation of a research topics ontology that is meant to be a semantic backbone of the system. Three-stage approach is proposed, aiming at the construction of ontologies for different levels of organizational hierarchy, from individual researcher, through group or unit, up to the whole institute. Created ontologies are linked to knowledge resources and support diverse activities performed at those levels.
