Opis:
The article attempts to theoretically systematize conflicts in contemporary Asia. At the beginning, attention was paid to the cultural and civilizational determinants of disputes and tensions in the region, which have a direct impact on the sphere of political activity of individual states. It has been found that ethnic and religious heterogeneity is the cause of tensions in Asia in most cases. The critical role of the United States in creating new security architecture across the Asian region has been determined. At the same time, it has been emphasized that multifaceted diversity is not always at odds with conflict-free development and stability. The exemplification of this hypothesis is Malaysia – a country of three cultures (Islamic, Chinese and Hindu). This country gives an example for the whole Asia that diversity does not mean the fatalism of internal conflicts. Malaysia can be an inspiration, especially for the Islamic civilizational circle.

Currently, when the world is no longer divided into two political-military blocks, local conflicts have ceased to be a surrogate training ground of rivalry between two superpowers. In most cases, they do not therefore constitute a direct threat to the world peace. Although, after the collapse of the Eastern bloc, local conflicts have lost their strategic dimension, we still have to deal with increasing number of new trends among the conflicts in the world. They cause political instability in various regions and bring substantial suffering to the people, and death, famine and epidemics. Their development brings new challenges, and thus the new visions of the future of the world around us.

The development of road and rail infrastructure is one of the priorities of EU transport policy. Transportation projects often result in conflicts with local communities. Conflicts make the implementation of projects expands and becomes more expensive. The same is true in the case of two transport projects Via Baltica and Rail Baltica. Already at the design stage, they led to a number of social conflicts in the ecological. Our aim is to show ways of resolving social conflicts and the possibility of applying them to solve problems concerning the implementation of transport projects. Proper preparation of the project on transport infrastructure should take into account not only its technical aspects but also social conditions. Preparatory activities, which may include public consultation, avoid protests and conflicts.

Nile river

Conflicts
Opis:
Rivers have always been in great importance in the process of arising and developing the human civilisation. Many ancient cultures were very powerful because of the huge rivers systems. Such civilizations as Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and China came into being in the grand rivers valleys (Nil, Tiger, Euphrates, Indus, Ganges, Yangtze and Huang He). Nowadays those rivers also play the vital role because of the fact that of its state and affluence mainly depends the economic stability and in that connection depends also the politic stability in the countries that those rivers flow through. Those dependences and connections between people and rivers were best characterised by the Greek historian Herodotus in his saying "Egypt is a gift from the Nile". Contemporary domestic and international rules of using the rivers resources are regulated by the law rules. The international law rules mainly deal with law classification and the division of the international rivers, water transport on those rivers and the methods of making out the rivers boundaries. Determining the international law rules, effectively regulating the exploitation of the international rivers, face many obstacles. The reason of this situation are differences in exploiting the rivers resources in particular States, which depends on many aspects (economic, geographical, cultural, etc.). The very best example of the complexity of the international rivers systems matter is the Nile river. Present-da y, for the Nile's drainage basin states, establishing the new international law regulations and the arrangements concluding the rational exploitation and division of the rivers resources is the main problem. In the light of the II article of the 1966 Helsinki Rules on the Uses of the Waters of International Rivers, an international drainage basin is a geographical area extending over two or more States determined by the watershed limits of the system of waters, including surface and underground waters, flowing into a common terminus. According to this criterion, ten States count among drainage basin of the Nile river (those States are as follows: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burundi, Ruanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Those States are now developing and theirs weak national economies are based on agriculture. The Nile as one of the biggest and most resourceful river on the world, is a great opportunity for those countries to develop. Unfortunately, present international legal system does not allow to exploit the Nile’s water resources in optimal and fair way, because this system does not embrace most of the States of the drainage basin. Such situation cause conflicts and tensions in relations between those States.

This study analyses the relationship between war and population, and the impact of the growth and decline of population on important types of warfare – armed conflicts and classic war. At its root, the importance of the link between demography and war is the relative capacity of a given political unit’s population to aid in its defence or to threaten other political units. For this reason, population increase and decrease have always been identified as vital security issues. Demography and war will continue to be an important and policy-relevant topic.

Occurrence of conflicts in the workplace can be a significant expense for the organization. One of the actions that can be taken to manage the emerging conflict and to facilitate agreement between the parties is mediation. The mediation procedure is based on the principle of voluntariness and confidentiality. It is important to maintain the neutrality and impartiality of the mediator. The Mediator is a third party incorporated to assist the parties in reaching an agreement and the mediation process itself can be used successfully by organizations in the face of the occurrence of an internal conflict. Circumstances accompanying the occurrence of some organizational conflicts make it possible to classify them as collective disputes where (by law) mediation is a mandatory stage of dispute resolution. Mediation is potentially a profitable way to resolve disputes in an organization but is not a commonly used method. The authors of this article participated in an international project implemented under the European Commission’s “New European Industrial Relations (NEIRE): Mediation system effectiveness for collective organizational conflicts: A comparative study in Europe”. They undertake an attempt to analyze the mediation system in Poland and to answer the question of what might affect the dissemination of this method of conflict resolution.

Opis:
The article shows accidentalness in construction of the borders in the Republic of Chad. On close examination to mark out the ground no one respects neither local tradition nor the cultural differences.Origin of the strong centralized country (French example) was not based of changing the mentality of understanding "our land" or "our territory" as over tribal an exclusive proprietary. At the same time there were not any trials neither to fall into line between the tribes over the land ownership nor to understanding with the preferred model of private ownership or country ownership. There is misunderstanding and conflict between the local long time honoured laws - customs - regarding ownership of lands and the law of the state. The conflict on the law of land is not the only one. We ought to count also differences based on different cultural, religious groups and their profession (shepherd and farmer) and their migration on impact of armed conflicts. The large part of the conflicts regarding the land ownerships might be resolved on the bases of the existing tribal rights as well as the state law.

Opis:
The causes of armed conflicts are a subject of constant interest to the social sciences. This has resulted in many theories and findings regarding the selection of different criteria in determining conflict-triggering factors. In international practice, states decide to declare war citing reasons connected with the state or vital national interests. Sometimes, the true motivations for the use of force are hidden. The history of armed conflicts includes many cases of using contrived pretexts or outright lies to start a war. External circumstances which were beyond the control of the state starting the war and which did not depend on the state’s will and actions have beenused as pretexts. Some of the pretexts, however, were deliberately fabricated to justify and explain military operations. States taking advantage of pretexts to use force can be observed from the time of the Trojan War to the attack on Iraq in 2003. Among the countries using pretexts to start a war, the superpowers occupy the leading position – they claim higher purposes, despite the fact that there are no objective criteria upon which to establish their superiority over the conventions of morality and international law.

Managing conflicts in customer relationships is one of most important and, at the same time, one of least explored, research areas within the larger area of relationship marketing studies. Such studies were not conducted in post-communist countries, which may be treated as a gap in the emerging theory of relationship conflict management. This paper presents research results that identify multi-dimensionality of conflict from the perspective of customers in banking industry in Poland. This study emphasizes four aspects of conflict handling, and the influence of these factors on customer satisfaction in relationship with the bank. This study is grounded in so-called “equity theory” with regard to exchange relationships.

The study aims to identify the phenomenon of the translocation of ethnic conflicts from the home countries to emigration reality, on the example of Armenian, Kurdish and Turkish communities. It is indicated that the scientific literature often focuses on the issues of the impact of diasporas to home countries, but no so often on the inter-community relations in emigration. The form of these relations are con{ icts that through arising in space of emigration enter into social and political reality of the country of residence, directly affect its society, its attitudes, aspirations, behaviors, domestic and international policies. It is observed that these conflicts can take various forms, even extreme, which is terrorism. The evolution of these conflicts depends on a number of factors, among others, the level of communication with the home country, evolution of the conflict in their home countries, institutionalization of life in emigration.

Contemporary armed conflicts are increasingly based on new technologies. These technologies enable to conduct hostilities from a distance, often eliminate the human factor from the battlefield. Nowadays, cyberspace created by the Internet allows to frame the idea of armed conflict outside the traditional recognition of the fight between belligerent armed forces. This article addresses issues of the direct participation of hostilities in cyberspace. In the first part it discusses technological development and its impact on the activation of the civil factor during armed conflicts. In the second part by analysing the current practice of cyber conflicts it refers to the concept of direct participation in hostilities and its constituent elements as a threshold of harm, direct causation, belligerent nexus at the cybernetic level. The third and final part examines the possibility of the loss of protection, in particular, it addresses the issues related to its temporal nature and the question of means and methods of attacking civilians involved in cyber warfare.
