In summary, it should be stated that in the period 1992-2017, dozens of priests with at least a doctoral degree were engaged in scientific and writing work in the entire of Ełk clergy. The work of the Ełk priests concerned mainly issues related to the history of the Church, canon law, philosophy, theology, Catholic social science and patrology. However, it is significant that priests who work on a daily basis in pastoral work can also be proud of the significant achievements in these areas, treating this activity as the implementation of their own research passion and fondness.

Przestępczość seksualna osób duchownych jest zjawiskiem budzącym w społeczeństwie kontrowersje. Kościół kojarzony jest bowiem z wysoko rozwiniętymi normami etycznymi i moralnymi. Do niedawna powszechnym było również przekonanie, że osoby duchowne są wyłączone spod odpowiedzialności świeckiej. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę odpowiedzialności karnej oraz kanonicznej duchownych. Analiza literatury jednoznacznie wskazuje, że kara, którą ponosi duchowny z jednego systemu prawnego, nie zwalnia ani nie zastępuje kary wymierzonej w innym systemie. Powiedzieć można nawet, że duchowny podlega podwójnej odpowiedzialności. Pierwszej w ramach prawa świeckiego oraz drugiej w ramach prawa kanonicznego.
The sexual crime of clergy is a controversial phenomenon. The Church is associated with highly developed ethical and moral norms. Until recently, it was common to believe that clergy are excluded from secular responsibility. The article presents the characteristics of criminal and canonical responsibility of clergy. An analysis of the literature indicates that the punishment received by a cleric from one legal system does not relieve or replace the punishment imposed in another system. It can even be said that the cleric is subject to double responsibility. The frst under secular law and the second under canon law.

There are nineteen clerics on the pages of the Plock’s book of assessors in the years 1489-1517. There were primarily associated with the local church environment. Their involvement as arbiters in conflicts is evident; they are also present as the executors of the testaments or the addressee of testament legate, the contractors of acts of buy-sell, the holders of deposits or prudent guardians looking after goods of the Church. The inscription in the Plock’s book of assessors in which we see the clergy, lead to the conclusion that the local representatives of the Church enjoyed trust and authority among the local people.

The Pomeranian Catholic clergy rejected the official celebration of the Marshal’s feast on the 19th March because this is one of the major solemnities in the Church, namely the Commemoration of St Joseph. However, some of the priests who maintained a much more favorable attitude towards Piłsudski’s name-day celebrations followed the example of the Church hierarchy and were taking part in it. Numerous priests (especially those whose political predilections were with the National Party) decided to protest against the spread of the official ‘cult’ and the legendary portrayal of the Marshal on his name day. Some of them, trying to sidestep the embarrassing situations, transferred the liturgical Commemoration of Saint Joseph to another day. There were many Pomeranian priests who did their best to prevent the Catholic youth from taking part in the official meetings. In some parishes where the pastors were political adversaries of Piłsudski the celebrations in memorial of Joseph Wrycza and Joseph Haller had a very ostentatious form. Numerous parish priests rejected the requests to celebrate the Holy Mass for the intention of the Marshal. This may be explained by the fact that the vast majority of pastors opted for the anti-Piłsudski political opposition. Some of the clergy, like Józef Wrycza or Paweł Konitzer, were even active supporters of the National Party.

The opinion concerns the problem of the scope of consultation requirements for bills, referring to the bill specified in the title of the opinion. Based on the provisions of the Constitution and of the Standing Orders, the bill should be consulted with those churches and other religious organizations whose priests would be affected by provisions of the bill. In practice, determining a list of entities entitled to be consulted on the bill may be difficult. Thus the author is of the opinion that legal rules concerning the right of churches and other religious organizations to consult bills should be reviewed and clarified.

The purpose of this article is to discus the problem of senility in medieval and modern Poland. There were examined two groups of people. The first one are clergy from Uniejów chapter, who lived during 14th–16th century. Among them were men, who were above 60 and 70 years old. The evaluation of the lenght of their life and characteristics of their old age was based an the analysis of their professional activity.The second group: parish priests and the church personnel were connected with 17th-century parish. In written sources we could sometimes find straight information about their old age. In case of church personnel senility started over 40–50 years of age and in case of parish priests it was above 60 years of age. We also read information about their diseases and infirmity.
W artykule omówiono zagadnienie starości w średniowieczu i w czasach nowożytnych na przykładzie dwóch grup. Pierwsza z nich to duchowni (prałaci i kanonicy) kapituły w Uniejowie z XIV–XVI w. Byli wśród nich mężczyźni osiągający wiek powyżej 60 lat, a nawet ok. i powyżej 70 lat. Ocena długości ich życia oraz charakterystyka starości opiera się na analizie ich aktywności zawodowej.Druga analizowana grupa była związana z XVII-wieczną parafią. W przypadku plebanów oraz personelu kościelnego czasem mówi się wprost o ich starości. Jej granicą mógł być wiek powyżej 40 i 50 lat w przypadku personelu oraz powyżej 60 lat w przypadku plebanów. Zachowane w wizytacji wzmianki pozwalają także na wskazanie pewnych cech z nią związanych, jak np. choroby, niedołęstwo.

 In the first phase of bringing the Order of the Holy Sepulchre down to Poland in 1163, bishops of dioceses were founders and donors of the Order (Cracow Bishop Gedko, Plock Bishop Lapus) and acknowledged the foundations as the heritage left by their predecessors. In 15th Century they were Gniezno Archbishop Mikołaj Trąba and Kiev Bishop Michał Treska. Since 14th Century the assets belonging to the Order of Holy Sepulchre had been titbits for bishops, especially for the poorer dioceses but also for Cracow bishops (Piotr Gamrat). Conflicts arose from recruitment procedures conducted in the Order where bishops employed diocesan priests. Since 1567 or the establishment of the commendation, commendatory provosts, where bishops had been in majority, had contributed to moral decline of the Order. The positive conduct of Andrzej Batory and Maciej Łubieński exclusively stood out. Permanent disputes among bishops, the king, and the monastery for material benefits derivable from the Order’s assets, bad examples set by commendatory provosts, the lack of authority and authoritarianism resulted in the laxity of morals in the Order and concurrently accounted for the relaxation of discipline, violation of the rules and laws made by the Order, sloth, idleness, drunkenness and immorality. In 18th Century the attempts to reform the Order, made by the provosts, were insufficient and unsuccessful to control the status quo in the Order because of the bad example that came from the top.

Being in charge of the deanery clergy, deans kept documentation which was stored in the dean’s archive. In the following article the records of the deanery of Brzeziny (in the 19th century this deanery was in the diocese of Kujawy-Kalisz) are presented as an example of usefulness of this kind of documentation for research. The bishop’s and consistory’s documentation suffered some losses in wars so the diocese government orders included in the dean’s records allow to complete these missing parts. The dean’s records contain information on the deanery clergy, the congregation and church property in a deanery; as well as some cartographic and typonymic documentation. The dean’s correspondence includes letters from the local secular and church institutions. Taking all these facts into consideration, it must be stated that the dean’s records are of great importance to the history of a given region.

The author is known in Poland by his many works, as, for example, the history and organization the Polish Nuncio’s office, and the history, the culture and theology of Silesia. He also promises to extend his research into the implementation of the reform resolutions of the Council of Trent in the diocese of Nola, one of the most prestigious dioceses in Italy. The origins of this diocese coincide with the very origins of Christianity. Keeping in mind the vitality of that work as well as desiring to eliminate the gap caused by a lack of a monograph on the history of that local Church, the author presents both a brief overview of the history of the region, of Naples and the diocese of Nola itself, presenting its best known rulers, the history of the basilicas and bishop’s churches, as well as the state of the parishes until the early years of seventeenth century. To this end, the author has compiled a lengthy bibliography (over 180 titles of books and articles) published between the middle of seventeenth century and now. These works deal with the history of this region’s towns, its royal and ennobled houses, and also with its religious orders, institutions and most outstanding persons. Works from the areas of culture and art are also considered.
