Opis:
Parcel lockers seem to be a very interesting and innovative solution for any type of city, beneficial to both customers and online stores. Accounting for the growing number of B2C e-commerce customers, this measure significantly meets their needs. Moreover, this solution solves the challenges of last-mile deliveries, which are one of the major effects of heavy traffic of commercial vehicles in the whole city area. Recipients and senders of parcels through parcel lockers are the main generators of demand for this service. Hence, assessing their satisfaction and requirements is a key indicator of the development of this area. This work focuses on the efficiency of user parcel lockers and compares the situation in Italy, Poland, and Ukraine. This paper also presents an analysis of the already existing data on the satisfaction of parcel locker users, as well as the results of a study conducted among Ukrainian consumers for this work.

Artykuł przedstawia powietrzne taksówki elektryczne, jako innowacyjne rozwiązanie w logistyce miejskiej. Wprowadzeniem do tematu jest opis teorii dynamicznie rozwijającej się koncepcji Smart City, pozwalającej na eliminację niekorzystnych skutków rozwoju aglomeracji oraz dokładniejszą koordynację miasta jako organizmu. Spośród 6 obszarów, które obejmuje Smart City, artykuł poświęcony jest mobilności oraz nowoczesnym rozwiązaniom elektromobilnym, takim jak: elektryczne i hybrydowe samochody, metro, hulajnogi elektryczne, drony itd., wprowadzane w celu dywersyfikacji transportu. Druga połowa artykułu skupia się na opracowywanych obecnie modelach powietrznych taksówek elektrycznych oraz infrastrukturze niezbędnej do ich działania. Istotną inspiracją do powstania artykułu były Światowe Wystawy EXPO2020 w Dubaju, podczas których zostały zaprezentowane niektóre z opisywanych modeli. W polskiej literaturze niewiele źródeł porusza opisywaną tematykę, ale prace nad prototypami są na takim etapie zaawansowania, że wprowadzenie tego rozwiązania w niektórych miejscach na Ziemi jest jedynie kwestią czasu.
This article presents electric air taxis as an innovative solution in urban logistics. An introduction to the subject is presented with a description of the theory of the dynamically developing Smart City concept, which makes it possible to eliminate the disadvantages of agglomeration development and to coordinate the city as an organism more accurately. Of the 6 areas that SmartCity covers, the article focuses on mobility and modern electromobility solutions, such as electric and hybrid cars, metros, electric scooters, drones, etc., being introduced to diversify transport. The second half of the article focuses on the electric air taxi models currently under development and the infrastructure required for their operation. An important inspiration for the article was the EXPO2020 World Expo in Dubai, during which some of the models described were presented. Few sources in the Polish literature address the described issues, but work on prototypes is at such a stage of advancement that the introduction of this solution in some places on Earth is only a matter of time.

Miasta borykają się z wieloma trudnościami, również w zakresie transportu. Ich generatorem jest przede wszystkim wzrost wskaźnika motoryzacji. Chcąc przeciwdziałać problemom, samorządy podejmują starania, dzięki którym miejska komunikacja publiczna ma stać się konkurencyjna wobec samochodów. Wdrażane są m.in. innowacje technologiczne oraz rozbudowywana jest infrastruktura transportu szynowego (tramwajowa, kolei miejskiej i aglomeracyjnej). Celem pracy jest próba określenia głównych kierunków rozwojowych miejskiej komunikacji publicznej, które mają za zadanie zniwelowanie kwestii problemowych w zakresie transportu. Badanie oparto na analizie literatury – naukowej, branżowej i portali informacyjnych oraz danych statystycznych. Dopełnienie stanowił przegląd przykładów rozwiązań z polskich samorządów miejskich (studium przypadku). Pozwoliło to wykazać ogólne zyski płynące z rozwoju transportu zbiorowego. Miejska komunikacja publiczna posiada większą zdolność przewozową niż samochody osobowe, dzięki czemu jest bardziej efektywna. Wpływa to na zminimalizowanie zjawiska kongestii transportowej oraz emisję zanieczyszczeń i hałasu. Zmniejszenie liczby aut także poprawić może bezpieczeństwo na drogach oraz spowoduje mniejszą eksploatację infrastruktury drogowej.
Cities face many difficulties, particularly with regard to transport. Their source is above all a rise in the rate of motorization. In order to counteract the problems, local governments undertake efforts to make public transport competitive in relation to cars. They are implemented, among others technological innovations and the rail transport infrastructure (tram, city and agglomeration railway) is being developed. The aim of the work was an attempt to determine the main directions of development of urban public transport, which are designed to eliminate problematic issues in the field of transport. The study was based on analysis of the literature – scientific, industry and information portals together with statistical data. It was completed with a review of examples of Polish municipal government solutions (case study). As a result, the overall benefits of the development of public transport have been demonstrated. Urban transit capacity exceeds that of passenger cars, making it more efficient. This contributes to the minimization of traffic congestion and emissions of pollutants and noise. Reducing the numer of cars can also increase road safety and reduce the use of road infrastructure.

Omówiono koncepcję fizycznej dystrybucji dóbr oraz zaprezentowano podstawowe schematy funkcjonowania wraz ze wskazaniem wad i zalet. Najważniejszą częścią artykułu jest wnikliwa, wielowymiarowa analiza specyfiki miejskiego transportu ładunków, poparta licznymi przykładami, przedstawionymi na fotografiach pochodzących z prywatnego archiwum autora. Wskazano również wiodące trendy w dziedzinie poprawy efektywności dostaw.
This article presents a systemic view of city logistics as an entity superior to urban freight distribution. The necessary definitions are presented and its elements are characterised. The concept of physical distribution of goods is discussed and the basic schemes of functioning are presented, along with their advantages and disadvantages. The most important part of the article is a thorough, multidimensional analysis of the specifics of urban freight transport, illustrated with numerous examples, in many cases presented with photographs from the author’s private archive. Leading trends in improving delivery efficiency are also identified.

Współcześnie w miastach podejmuje się wiele działań mających na celu ograniczyć nadmierne zatłoczenie. Rozwój przestrzeni w miastach, a także wykorzystanie transportu do codziennych podróży, przyczyniły się do powstania wielu alternatywnych form transportu - między innymi rowerów publicznych. W ostatnich latach system rowerów publicznych został poddany wielu wyzwaniom. Celem artykułu jest ocena stanu rozwoju systemu rowerów publiczych w Polsce. Podmiotem badań są polskie miasta posiadające systemy rowerów publicznych. Oceny dokonano za pomocą narzędzi wielowymiarowej analizy porównawczej (analiza skupień oraz taksonomiczy mierik rozwoju). W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań analizowane obiekty wykazują zróżnicowanie pod względem cech chraketryzujących systemy rowerów miejskich.
Today, many actions are taken to reduce traffic in cities. The development of urban space, as well as the use of transport for everyday travel, have contributed to the creation of many alternative forms of transport, including bike sharing. In recent years, the bike sharing system has been subject to many challenges. The aim of the article is to assess the condition of development of the bike sharing system in Poland. The subjects of the research are Polish cities with bike sharing systems. The assessment was made with the use of multidimensional comparative analysis tools (cluster analysis and such economic development). As a result of the conducted research, the analyzed objects show differentiation in terms of characteristics that characterize the systems of city bikes.

The article concerns the study of communication behavior of high school and university students in Piła and Chodzież counties. The main problem is the mobility preferences of pupils and students. The article characterizes the concept of city, urban transport and mobility, and then proposes a mobility model that takes into account the preferences of residents when choosing the means of transport. The article ends with a presentation of survey results and drawing appropriate conclusions. They will help in presenting the proposed directions of development of transport infrastructure in the Piła and Chodzież counties. The aim of the article is to assess the communication behavior of high school and university students and the ways of their movement.
Artykuł dotyczy badania zachowań komunikacyjnych uczniów szkół średnich i studentów w powiecie pilskim i chodzieskim. Głównym problemem są preferencje uczniów i studentów w zakresie mobilności. W artykule scharakteryzowano pojęcie miasta, transportu miejskiego oraz mobilności, a następnie zaproponowano model mobilności uwzględniający preferencje mieszkańców przy wyborze środka transportu. Artykuł kończy się prezentacją wyników badań ankietowych i wyciągnięciem stosownych wniosków. Pomogą one w przedstawieniu propozycji kierunków rozwoju infrastruktury transportowej na terenie powiatu pilskiego i chodzieskiego. Celem artykułu jest ocena zachowań komunikacyjnych uczniów szkół średnich i studentów oraz sposobów ich poruszania się.

Purpose. The main purpose of the article is to assess the economic and socio-environmental costs of the urban delivery of small shipments in difficult weather conditions with a combination of different delivery means - a car, a motorcycle, a bicycle and a pedestrian courier. Methodology. The methodology for determining the integrated costs of urban logistics for small shipments in difficult weather conditions is based on an assessment of the region's synoptic data, statistics on road accidents and congestion levels, as well as on the specific operating conditions of the delivery company. Results. The result of the work is the cost of combining all - season delivery means with a motorcycle and a bicycle, which can only be used under favorable weather conditions. The theoretical contribution. The theoretical contribution consists in the presentation of a methodology that makes it possible to estimate the complex costs of a combination of various urban delivery means. Practical implications. Practical implementation consists in calculating the total costs for the delivery of goods for an online store in Kyiv with various combinations of delivery means, which allows to choose the most successful alternative.

Introduction/background: The problem of municipal waste management is an increasingly popular topic. The overproduction of waste is dangerous for human health, but also for the whole environment. For this reason, the coordination of the municipal waste management process is important for the general public, but at the same time it is not an easy process and involves many organisational and social challenges. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper is to identify problems occurring in the process of municipal waste management together with a proposal for improvement measures. Materials and methods: The paper was prepared on the basis of a critical review of the literature and an interview conducted with 9 employees of the Town Office in Wodzisław Śląski. The article was created on the basis of the diploma thesis. Results and conclusions: As a result, the issues of municipal waste management were described, the process of municipal waste management in the municipality of Wodzisław Śląski was characterised, disturbances in the process were detected and improvements correcting the occurring errors were proposed.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań terenowych, których celem była ocena problematycznego zjawiska nierespektowania przez uczestników ruchu drogowego art. 18 ustawy — Prawo o ruchu drogowym. W szczególności skoncentrowano się na ocenie wpływu zachowań innych uczestników ruchu drogowego w kontekście tego przepisu na opóźnienia autobusów należących do systemu transportu zbiorowego w mieście. Oprócz wyników badań terenowych przedstawiono także wyniki badań przeprowadzonych wśród kierowców autobusów komunikacji miejskiej MZK Opole. Wykazano, że skala zjawiska jest istotna, co potwierdziły zarówno badania w ruchu drogowym, jak i opinia kierowców autobusów. Średnio około 5% całkowitego czasu podróży stanowi czas, jaki kierowca autobusu oczekuje na możliwość wyjazdu z zatoki autobusowej. Jest to czas marnotrawiony, niewnoszący żadnej wartości dodanej do jakości obsługi pasażera.
The article presents the results of research aimed at assessing the problematic phenomenon of failure to respect Art. 18 of the Traffic Law Act. In particular, attention was paid to the assessment of the impact of the behavior of other road users in the context of this provision on the delays of public buses. Apart from that research, the results of the research conducted among the drivers of the MZK Opole public transport buses were also presented. It was shown that the scale of the phenomenon is significant, which was confirmed by both road traffic studies and the opinion of bus drivers. On average, about 5% of the total travel time is the time the bus driver waits for the possibility of leaving the bus bay. It is wasted time and does not bring any added value to the service of passenger.

Introduction/background: In the time of advancing urbanization and ever increasing intensity of the road traffic in urban areas, providing efficient mass transport is the responsibility of the local authorities. Effective management and organization of the public transport system is a complex task. A public transport system that is attractive and responds to the needs of the passengers can become one of the key factors influencing the quality of life in the city. Aim of the paper: The main aim of the paper is to identify positive and negative aspects of the operation of Lubińskie Przewozy Pasażerskie (Lubin Passenger Transport) and to propose the potential improvements in this system. Materials and methods: The paper was created on the basis of a literature review and the applicable legal acts. In order to determine strengths and weaknesses of the mass transport system, a Pareto-Lorenz diagram was used and the level of logistical customer service was calculated on the basis of passenger surveys. The article was created on the basis of the diploma thesis. Results and conclusions: As the result of conducted research, it has been stated that the passenger transport services in the district of Lubin are provided on a satisfying level, however, the users report certain deficiencies in the functioning of the mass transport. Three main activities, which will result in a noticeable improvement in the quality of offered transport services, were suggested.

A holistic approach and stakeholder consultation are necessary before implementing a particular city logistics measure. The need to implement sustainable urban logistics solutions is particularly important in seaports located in cities. Such cities, particularly Gdynia, have a high intensity of cargo flows resulting from transport connected with their port facilities. The purpose of this article was to identify the level of acceptance of sustainable and innovative urban logistics solutions by entities that use the services of the seaport in Gdynia. We investigated whether the proposed solutions found sufficient acceptance among the respondents, and which of the proposed solutions were the most preferred by stakeholders. We hypothesized that urban logistics solutions were not sufficiently accepted by the stakeholders of the seaport of Gdynia. In order to analyze the awareness of the involved parties, we surveyed parties at the Port of Gdynia as part of the Interreg project called TENTacle. Our findings did not support this hypothesis with respect to such measures as FQP, the use of interactive city maps, night deliveries, and the use of ITS, as these are the solutions most preferred by the stakeholders of Gdynia. The results of this study can therefore serve as an important tool for the city of Gdynia, and similar cities, when preparing sustainable urban logistics plans.

Transport has a great impact on human activities but contributes to many negative phenomena occurring in road traffic, for example, road traffic accidents, emission of toxic exhaust fumes into the atmosphere and a high share of cars in road traffic. For the above reasons, many initiatives have been taken in the field of road traffic management and urban logistics. Based on a literature review, it was found that the problem of the phenomenon of traffic congestion in urban areas remains an ongoing issue. In the first part of this article, the theoretical issues of traffic flow and congestion formation in the city road networks were presented. While the second part outlines the situation of transport congestion in 10 Polish cities based on the worldwide TomTom Traffic Index in the years 2008-2018. This study is a brief analysis of the trends relating to transport congestion based on the TomTom Traffic Index in these cities.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest analiza i ocena działalności jednego z pierwszych w Polsce systemów wypożyczalni rowerów miejskich. W artykule opisano rozwój Wrocławskiego Roweru Miejskiego (WRM) na przestrzeni 8 lat jego istnienia. Przedstawione zostały dane dotyczące liczby stacji oraz dostępnych do wypożyczenia rowerów w każdym z sezonów wiosenno-letnich, w których możliwe było korzystanie z rowerów miejskich. Opis został uzupełniony o analizę funkcjonalności systemu przeprowadzoną na podstawie badania ankietowego pod koniec ostatniego sezonu w ramach pierwszej zleconej przez Urząd Miejski Wrocławia usługi dotyczącej obsługi Wrocławskiego Roweru Miejskiego. Celem przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych było również zebranie opinii użytkowników dotyczących funkcjonowania WRM oraz jego oceny. Badania zostały uzupełnione także o analizy opracowane na podstawie wyników obserwacji towarzyszących, które pozwoliły zidentyfikować mocne i słabe strony systemu wypożyczalni rowerów miejskich. Przedstawione wnioski stanowić mogą podstawę do określenia warunków funkcjonowania tego typu systemów w przyszłości zarówno we Wrocławiu jak i innych miastach.
The aim of the article is to analyze and evaluate the activity of one of the first bike-sharing system in Poland. The article describes the development of Wrocław City Bike (WRM) over the eight years of its existence. In the article were presented data on the number of stations and bikes available for rental in each of the spring and summer seasons in which it was possible to use city bikes. The description has been supplemented with an analysis of the functionality of the system based on a survey at the end of the last season. The purpose of the conducted surveys was also to collect user opinions on the functioning of WRM and its evaluation. The research was also supplemented with analyzes developed on the basis of the results of accompanying observations, which allowed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the city bike-sharing system. The conclusions presented can be the basis for determining the conditions for the functioning of such systems in the future, both in Wrocław and in other cities.

Opis:
Purpose: The main aim of the article is identification of passengers' preferences and satisfaction with public transport services as the basis for evaluating the quality of urban public transport services and it’s improvement. Design/methodology/approach: The research included a satisfaction survey of urban passenger transport customers in the city of Żory, where free public transport operates. The literature review provided an opportunity to identify the factors to be assessed in the survey. Findings: The survey has shown that respondents indicate the frequency of buses, punctuality, the technical condition of the means of transport, the number of seats available on the bus during peak hours and the efficiency of air conditioning and heating as the most important improvements in the quality in organization and realization of public passenger transport. These results are the basis for action by the transport provider. Research limitations/implications: The survey concerns only the city of Żory public passengers transport, while the proposed research approach can be used in research for other cities. Practical implications: Adaptation of the transport offer to the passengers requirements in order to encourage them to use public transport more often. This solution will increase the competitiveness of this form of transport in relation to individual transport modes. Social implications: The quality of passenger transport services in the city plays a key role in shaping the quality of inhabitants life. The competitiveness of this form of transport also influences the environmental aspect – among others, the reduction of low emissions. Nevertheless, in order to ensure the use of this form of transport, it is necessary to continuously improve the offer and quality of service provision. Originality/value: The presented research is important in the activities of urban passenger transport operators as it provides information on the importance of factors influencing the growth of interest in this type of services, and therefore is important in building a customer service strategy.

Opis:
The manuscript deals with the subject of determining the optimal delivery routes in terms of supplying urban distribution centers when minimizing the distance traveled in a particular region for the purpose of addressing city logistics issues using the specific Operations Research method, namely the Clarke-Wright method. Thus, the main paper objective is to examine the issue: what are the optimal transport journeys from the specific object among individual customers in a certain region in order to execute minimum transport performance? First two sections of the manuscript specify the relevant concepts regarding the issue of distribution tasks and vehicle routing problem, and presents data and methods in relation to this research study. The most significant part of the article models the individual routes to determine the optimal interconnections of urban distribution center and their supply from one logistics service center in a regional logistics network at a city logistics scale when applying the Clarke-Wright method. The last sections of the elaborated research study evaluate the major findings and discuss the possible future initiatives in the topic addressed.
