Opis:
In this paper, we present an experimental setup developed for the calibration of dynamic force transducers which is based on the drop mass method. The traceability to SI units is realized through well-known mass characteristics and a reference shock accelerometer attached to that mass. Two approaches are proposed to analyse dynamic force employing a drop mass system. One approach depends on the inertial force of a falling mass while the other deals with the work-energy principle. Results of both approaches are then compared to the response of a statically calibrated force transducer. It is shown that the obtained maximum relative deviations between the response of force transducer and the first approach results are 1% while those of the second approach are 2%.

Opis:
Domain estimation has become an important area in survey sampling, however a lot of problems associate with it. One out of many is the lack of consistency between different surveys. The results of one survey do not coincide with the results of another survey done earlier or simultaneously, although the same variable is under study. We study two methods, AC-calibration (A – auxiliary, C – common) and repeated weighting (RW), for achieving consistency. A short overview of these two methods is given, and we develop formulas for a specified case, for the crossclassified domains. We assume that there are two sources of information on the study variables (either surveys or registers). The problem is that one source has information on domains formed by certain categorical variable, not considered or not identified in the other source. Instead, this second source has information on domains formed by another categorical variable. We are however interested in domains cross-classified with these categorical variables. A survey is done regarding these new domains, but the domain estimates will probably be inconsistent with marginal information, from earlier surveys. We require that the new domain estimates be consistent with the marginals. To achieve this we apply AC-calibration or repeated weighting. The formulas of AC-calibration and RW for the cross-classified domains are tested in a simulation study. Simulations were done on a population composed of real data from the Estonian Household Survey.

Opis:
In the paper certain method is proposed, concerning calibration of a channel for measurements of non-electrical quantities, by means of total sensitivity evaluation. The implementation ways of self-calibration algorithms are shown, for different types of measurement channels, depending on the type of conversion function of non-electrical quantity sensor. Frequently used sensors with ratio output have been examined (integrated sensors, bridge circuits), in which a measurand is converted to a ratio of sensor output voltage to its supply voltage. The cases of linear and non-linear conversion function of a measurement channel have been taken into consideration. The interpolation of conversion function has been realized with linear spline functions. An example of implementation of self-calibration algorithm is shown.

Opis:
The volumetric performance of machine tools is limited by the remaining relative deviation between desired and real tool tip position. Being able to predict this deviation at any given functional point enables methods for compensation or counteraction and hence reduce errors in manufacturing and uncertainties for on-machine measurement tasks. Time-efficient identification and quanitification of different contributions to the resulting deviation play a key role in this strategy. The authors pursue the development of an optical sensor system for step diagonal measurement methods, which can be integrated into the working volume of the machine due to its compact size, enabling fast measurements of the axes’ motion error including roll, pitch and yaw and squareness errors without significantly interrupting the manufacturing process. The use of a frequency-modulating interferometer and photosensitive arrays in combination with a Gaussian laser beam allow for measurements at comparable accuracy, lower cost and smaller dimensions compared to state-of-the-art optical measuring appliances for offline machine tool calibration. For validation of the method a virtual machine setup and raytracing simulation is used which enables the investigation of systematic errors like sensor hardware misalignment.

Opis:
Since the first activities concerning the monitoring networks of the Netherlands in 1986 a lot of optimalisation and adaptation steps have been made. A good maintenance regime, both for computer systems, software and for measuring stations is the key solution to trust in the early warning function of the network. Starting in 1986 the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) has built up a large expertise in the construction and maintenance of such early warning systems. This is also the benefit of having calibration facilities available on the company area of NRG for the different types of detection systems: calibrations can be performed for systems for gamma radiation, aerosols, iodine and the noble gases. Finally, with the Incident application, NRG can provide for the organisations involved in emergency planning and response a robust, user-friendly PC-application. With this application not only data can be extracted from a local computer system, at this moment tests are done with getting data from an external FTP-server.

Opis:
In this study, a procedure for optimal selection of measurement points using the D-optimality criterion to find the best calibration curves of measurement sensors is proposed. The coefficients of calibration curve are evaluated by applying the classical Least Squares Method (LSM). As an example, the problem of optimal selection for standard pressure setters when calibrating a differential pressure sensor is solved. The values obtained from the D-optimum measurement points for calibration of the differential pressure sensor are compared with those from actual experiments. Comparison of the calibration errors corresponding to the D-optimal, A-optimal and Equidistant calibration curves is done.

Opis:
The aim of present article is investigating properties of accelerometer calibration method, called automatic calibration. The research of transducer's model was conducted and chosen optimization algorithms were rated by the simulation method and also using real transducer. The aim of tests was examination of the possibility to find parameters of the transducer model considering influence of temperature and deviation of axes. Described optimal calibration process without special calibration apparatus considers also influence of temperature on acceleration measurement. Afterward, described calibration method was tested on real transducer. Obtained results show that the hybrid two-step algorithm is suitable to the multiaxial transducers calibration. In the research, accelerometer as triaxial transducer was chosen and subjected to tests and the results of simulation was recorded in the MATLAB workspace. From existing estimation, three algorithms were chosen: the quasi-Newton, simplex (Nelder-Mead), and Levenberg-Marquard. The experimental part of the calibration utilized the idea of using existing and known constant vector of the measured value like gravitational acceleration and magnetic field. Calibration with temperature compensation of real transducer was presented.
