The article presents the analysis of political campaigns for parliament elections in Slovakia in 2010. It focuses mainly on the use of photographs on billboards. The authors present their own typology of factors affecting the message, contributing to the achievement or non-achievement of the communication goals. The content analysis and visual analysis of the billboards explores their structure and placement in the environment, searching for the elements which encourage subsequent complementation of the billboard picture, or of the text, by the target population. The factor analysis confirms that the billboards particularly prone to complementation were those which were not complemented by their environment, were boring, and did not show the presented person in the bust-view, but rather as a detail in the picture.

In the research on CSR disclosure level in annual, integrated, environmental and CSR reports different methods of measurement of this level based on the content analysis are used. The aim of the paper is to present methods of measurement of CSR disclosure extent and quality applied in practice on the basis of the literature review. The wide diversity of these methods on the one hand enables to capture different aspects of CSR reporting level and on the other hand leads often to difficulties in comparability of various research results concerning disclosure extent and quality and their determinants.

The study covers content analysis of the european uprising news represented in Turkish Media . 12 mainstream Turkish newspapers has been analysed between the dates of 1th – 30th July 2011. Correspodence analysis and mosaic plots has been used in order to develop a better picture. The news about “European uprising” found in only 65 newspapers of 236. As the main result, it can be stated that The uprising news in different newspapers on the same date are associated with the newspaper's perspective about democracy, human rights and global citizenship.

In this article, the author compares rank-ordered lists of nouns derived from three text corpora: from YA weekly Płomyk (Flame; six issues from the mid-1930s), from Świat Młodych (Youth’s World; six issues from the mid-1970s) and from modern YA magazines such as Bravo or Popcorn. Analysing these lists, one comes to a conclusion that, taking into consideration the main themes as well as presented values, family model and life ideals, a periodical from the mid-1970s is more similar to prewar Płomyk than to contemporary magazines for teenagers. Given this, the author states that educational strategies in the Communist and prewar times were much alike, whereas the strategies characteristic for the present era are totally different. The accuracy of this hypothesis should be verified in a more detailed research.

Confronting recent history: Serbia’s ‘fateful eight’ and a decade of Kosovo’s independence in the Serbian Media (2008–2018)Serbia’s latest “fateful eight” – from the 1918 creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, to the student protests of 1968 – is by far the declaration of independence of its former southernmost province, Kosovo, in 2008. Having in mind that the Kosovo myth – much debated in scholarly circles – is a key instance in understanding Serbia’s nationalism ever since its inception in the nineteenth century, a strong discourse negating Kosovo’s independence has been promulgated by the media. Through the lens of media content analysis, the author tackles the Kosovo-related rhetoric within the media in Serbia’s recent history, from the declaration of Kosovo’s independence, to 2018. Stawiając czoła najnowszej historii: serbska „przełomowa ósemka” i dekada niepodległości Kosowa w serbskich mediach (2008–2018)Najnowszą z serbskich „przełomowych ósemek” – po utworzeniu Królestwa Serbów, Chorwatów i Słoweńców w roku 1918 i protestach studenckich w roku 1968 – jest bez wątpienia ogłoszenie niepodległości przez byłą południową prowincję Serbii, Kosowo, w 2008 roku. Ponieważ mit kosowski – wciąż będący przedmiotem dyskusji w kręgach akademickich – pozostaje kluczowy dla zrozumienia serbskiego nacjonalizmu już od chwili jego narodzin w dziewiętnastym wieku, media forsowały dyskurs wyraźnie przeciwny niepodległości Kosowa. Korzystając z metod analizy treści, autor przygląda się w tekście retoryce serbskich mediów dotyczącej Kosowa, od chwili ogłoszenia przez nie niepodległości w 2008 roku do roku 2018.

The article refers to the world's largest microblogging platform – Twitter.com. The author, in his reflections on mediatisation and virtualization of modern political communication, indicates changes that are undergoing right now in the social communication. He characterizes the specific nature of Twitter and tries to identify the source of its popularity. In the second part of the text, the author presents partial results of a research project dedicated to the activity of Polish politicians on Twitter. The author qualified the analysis to the ten Twitter profiles of Polish politicians who had the largest number of followers on 24 December 2013. The author, through the presentation of empirical results, considers methodological aspects of the analysis of politicians’ activity on Twitter. Furthermore, he proposes certain indicators of research for the analysis of political communication in social media and stresses the need for research in virtual space, because – according to the author – it profoundly affects the thinking and perception of contemporary politicians about their role in the public sphere.
Artykuł poświęcony jest największej na świecie platformie mikroblogowej– Twitter.com. Autor w swoich rozważaniach nad mediatyzacją i wirtualizacją współczesnej komunikacji politycznej wskazuje zmiany, jakie dokonują się na naszych oczach w zakresie szeroko rozumianej komunikacji społecznej. Charakteryzuje specyfikę Twittera oraz próbuje zidentyfikować źródła jego popularności. W drugiej części tekstu prezentuje cząstkowe wyniki projektu badawczego poświęconego aktywności polskich polityków na Twitterze. Analizie poddał profile dziesięciu polskich polityków, którzy mają największą liczbę śledzących (ang. followers) na stan 24 grudnia 2013 r. Autor poprzez prezentację wyników empirycznych rozważa metodologiczne aspekty standaryzacji oceny aktywności polityków na Twitterze. Proponuje określone wskaźniki badawcze do analizy komunikacji politycznej w mediach społecznościowych oraz podkreśla konieczność prowadzenia badań w  przestrzeni wirtualnej, gdyż – zdaniem autora – w sposób przemożny oddziałuje ona na sposób myślenia i postrzeganie własnej roli w przestrzeni publicznej współczesnych polityków.

The communicative style used to exclude immigrants from the idea of “the people” is the scope through which right-wing media populism is measured in a case study of Macedonia, a post-communist country on the Balkan migrant route. Quantitative content analysis of articles from four Macedonian right-wing partisan news outlets N = 409, demonstrates a clear change in tone in coverage of migration, marked by an increase of populism as the “migrant crisis” intensified. Logistic regression confirms that  incivility, as a proxy for the intensity of partisan bias, is a significant predictor of populism, and opinion pieces have a significantly stronger populist tendency than news reports. The findings show that online news outlets, however, are not more populist than traditional print media.

Faced with Covid-19 people are overwhelmed with information coming from governmental or health care sources but also from social media and digital communication platforms. The Internet and especially social media are often inundated with unreliable or even false information regarding COVID-19 and vaccination against it. This seriously impacts the public health, since misinformed people may be hesitant towards the health-related measures enforced by the governments and health authorities, which, in turn, contributes to their vaccine hesitancy.The aim of the paper is to investigate the Internet memes created and popularized in Poland by supporters and opponents of COVID-19 vaccinations. The data for the study include memes published between December 2020 (vaccinations become available in Poland) to May 2021 and comes from the most popular, publicly accessible social networks and meme pages with the greatest number of followers. The content analysis relays on such variables as whether the meme is pro- or antivaccine, what persuasive appeals (emotion, fear, rationality) are used, number of reactions andshares. Additionally, the analysis looks at the thematic content of the memes and tries to specify whether the pro- and anti-vaccination memes contain more gist than verbatim information. The analysis aims to define persuasion methods that pro-vaccine and anti-vaccine groups use in their memes.

In this article, the main subject of interest is the media image of gender, which is a relatively new phenomenon in the Polish public discourse but arouses strong emotions. The content analysis included materials containing the notion of gender, published in the editorial section of “Gazeta Wyborcza” between 2010–2014. The research showed that the issue of the social and cultural aspects of gender is more and more often present in the public debate, which is strongly polarized in nature. The gathered data allowed for the enumeration of subjects which include the context connected with gender and showed the essence of presenting this subject, in a specific Polish daily newspaper, casting light on the debate in this area.

The aim of this article is to analyze the manner in which the chosen Polish weekly news magazines – Newsweek, Polityka and Wprost – presented Africa in the years 2001–2010, mainly the problems of its current situation and prospects for the future, as well as the issue of the most prominent leaders of the continent. Using two research methods – content analysis and discourse analysis – the author establishes that none of the magazines published articles about Africa in a systematic planned manner. The magazines focused mainly on political and security issues. Economy, societies and religions were also on the agenda but to a lesser extent. The problems of the continent were often presented through the activities taken by the dictators – Muammar Gaddafi and Robert Mugabe. As far as the perspectives of Africa for the future are concerned, the most critical and pessimistic was Wprost, whereas Newsweek and Polityka took a more optimistic approach to the issue.

Analysis of the covers if news weeklies such as „Do Rzeczy”, „Newsweek Polska”, „Polityka”, „Wprost” has become an area of discourse about media narrative, which is visible in studied materials in the period of the 2015parliamentary campaign. Determination of political sympathies, verification of the degree of politicizing, studying materials and marking the dominating subject matter on the 44 covers, is the aim of conducted research work. The article introduces the results of an empirical examination of journalistic role performance in Hungary. In reference to the “Journalistic Role Performance Around the Globe” research project (led by Prof. Claudia Mellado from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, in Chile and Lea Hellmueller, from Texas States University, www.journalisticperformance.org), we attempt to discuss the main patterns of role performance in contemporary journalism in Hungary. The presence of six models in news production (watchdog, disseminator interventionist, civic, loyalfacilitator, service journalism, and infotainment) is investigated by conducting a quantitative content analysis of 1,087 news items published by the national desk of four Hungarian broadsheets in 2012–2013.

The main research question of the text is: what are the ways of teacher self-presentation in the blogosphere? The aim of the analyses was to reconstruct the meanings given by teachers to their own activity in the blogosphere, assessing the potential of blogs in creating the image of the teacher as a professional. Internet ethnography (i.e. cyberethnography, netnography) was used to analyse the blogs. The selection of the research sample was a two-stage process. In the first stage, the teacher blogosphere was reviewed: more than 70 blogs by English teachers, 50 by Polish teachers and 10 by history teachers were selected. A selection of these was made, taking into account: the timing of the activity (more than one year), the frequency of content updates, the regularity of the entries, and the hypertextual diversity. The following blogs were subjected to qualitative analysis: Baba od polskiego, Kreatywny Polonista, DoKlasy, BB's Playground, Hummingbirds els. Teacher self-presentation was the main research category. A number of features of diaries have been found in the content of the blogs: the process of shaping one's “I”, the embeddedness in the present, the systematic nature of the entries, and the writing and rhetorical practice aimed at influencing the outside world (Maryl, 2013). The “I” presented by teacher-bloggers is characterised by openness, responsiveness, creativity, authenticity, relationality, reflexivity and professionalism. The image of the teacher presented in the blogosphere “seduces”. The analysis confirms the different motivations for “being” in the blogosphere. They relate to responding to young people's expectations for teachers to undertake such online activity and the possibility of co-creating open educational resources. The blog activity of teachers is characterised by the so-called personal branding, i.e. building a personal brand, an image of oneself, which is to convince potential recipients to cooperate. Presenting “yourself” in the blogosphere - enhances, sometimes even improves, the image of the teaching profession in the offline world.

The journalists make the selection of information every day; presenting only the content, which, in their opinion, is essential to the reader. J. Galtung i M. Holmboe-Ruge have described the criteria which have impact on the spread of the specific information in the media. In this paper it is suggested that the conclave meets all the requirements of a media event. The analysis is based on sample issues of "Rzeczpospolita" and "Gazeta Wyborcza", important Polish daily newspapers. The most important questions asked are what role these newspapers have played during the conclave in 2013,what image of the Church and of the new pope they have popularizedin the examined period?
Dziennikarze każdego dnia dokonują selekcji informacji, przedstawiając odbiorcy tylko te treści, które w ich opinii są istotne i mogą wzbudzić zainteresowanie. Kryteria wpływające na medialne rozpowszechnienie konkretnej wiadomości sklasyfikowali J. Galtung i M. Holmboe-Ruge. Odnosząc się do tej koncepcji, wykazano, iż konklawe spełnia wszystkie kryteria, uprawniające do uzyskania miana wydarzenia medialnego. Digital transformation is widely recognized to be a key issue in contemporary management studies. The area is attracting increasing attention because of both the general trend of the growing importance which digital technologies play in the present society, as well as the ways companies are using digital technologies to improve their competitive advantage. As a result, digital transformation is a subject of a growing number of papers, research, and managerial publications. The main aim of this work is to propose and validate a method to measure the phenomenon and its role in companies’ strategies, and to gather information on strategic directions for digital transformation in enterprises. This paper presents an overview of the literature discussion on digital transformation. A method to study directions of digital transformation in enterprises is demonstrated. It is based on the content analysis methodology and is used to study a choice-based sample of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The research carried out offers preliminary evidence supporting the conclusion that digital transformation is a phenomenon which can be measured with the content analysis framework. The findings also outline strategic directions for digital transformation and shed light on possible variables influencing the process.

Framing the Holocaust in popular knowledge: 3 articles about the Holocaust in English, Hebrew and Polish WikipediaThe goal of this article is to examine how different events and phenomena related to the Second World War and the Holocaust are framed via Wikipedia articles written in Polish, Hebrew and English. Departing from the pillars of the theory of framing in mass media, the article conducts a content analysis of three articles, in three different languages. The articles under analysis are the following: “Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp”, “The Pogrom in Jedwabne”, and “Righteous Among the Nations”. The analysis will use the four roles of frames as categories, determined by Entman: definition of the problem/phenomenon, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. Analyzing how the articles fulfill each of the roles in the different languages, the research hypothesis is that the framing of the phenomena will differ between the versions, and each version will follow pillars of the collective memory of the Holocaust in its respective country. Findings, however, are not in complete compliance with this hypothesis. Kształtowanie popularnej wiedzy o Holocauście na przykładzie trzech artykułów z polskiej, hebrajskiej i angielskiej WikipediiCelem artykułu jest zbadanie, jak przedstawiane są wybrane wydarzenia i zjawiska, związane z historią II wojny światowej oraz Holokaustem, w internetowej encyklopedii „Wikipedia” w różnych językach. Prezentowana analiza treści opiera się na teorii framingu w mass mediach i obejmuje trzy artykuły: „Auschwitz-Birkenau”, „Pogrom w Jedwabnem” oraz „Sprawiedliwy wśród Narodów Świata”, opublikowane w językach polskim, angielskim oraz hebrajskim. W analizie wykorzystano cztery role „ram” (frames), sformułowane przez Entmana: definicja problemu/zjawiska, interpretacja przyczyn, ewaluacja moralna oraz propozycja rozwiązań. Autor, badając to, jak poszczególne artykuły wypełniają każdą z tych ról, stawia hipotezę, zgodnie z którą teksty przedstawiają ten sam temat w różny sposób, w zależności od podstaw pamięci zbiorowej w danym kraju. Wyniki badań jednak nie zawsze są zgodne z tą hipotezą.

Hastagging, similarly to tagging, has become an inseparable part of online communication and users’ motivation for employing hashtags—especially on the platform of their origin, i.e. Twitter—has attracted the attention of scholars from various fields, including linguistics. In reference to previous studies, this paper aims to expand existing knowledge regarding the role and functions of hashtags by examining Instagram posts, which are, in contrast to tweets, predominantly visual and remain an insufficiently researched area. The analytical data consisting of posts uploaded by three Instafamous personalities, also known as Instagirls, were scanned for the presence of hashtags to determine their frequency and their characteristic traits. The qualitative analysis of posts shows that on Instagram, hashtags are employed to fulfil one of two opposing goals: 1. to serve as a tool for aggregating posts of similar content; 2. to serve as a resource for creative self-expression. Furthermore, since hashtags are often designated as a means of promoting one’s visibility, their role as a self-presentation strategy in the construction of micro-celebrity on Instagram is also discussed.

The main intent of the study is to investigate the conceptual framework of sustainability associated with the social, economic, and environmental context of the city of Ternopil, Ukraine. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses have been used to better understand the conceptual threshold area of sustainability. Geospatial approaches are used to measure the city’s sustainability. The results indicate that Ternopil city’s socio-economic context moderately supports sustainability, while the environmental context is less supportive. The study found that the city’s economic growth and development have caused environmental degradation, leading to the loss of biodiversity and natural resources. However, the study revealed that the city is adopting sustainable practices. The city’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) have been analysed in light of sustainability. The study recommends that policymakers and stakeholders in Ternopil City should prioritise sustainable development practices, such as implementing public transport and promoting sustainable urban planning. Overall, the study provides insights into the relationship between socioeconomic and environmental factors and sustainability in Ternopil City and highlights the need for sustainable development practices to ensure a sustainable future for the city.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: options and threats on a local level policy formulation, especially in a phase of its formulation through declared priorities created by stakeholders. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: unclear relation between stakeholders and their hierarchy in the case, and unknown options how to improve examination process between them; about method, content analysis is used in the defined case (case study). THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: starts with content analysis of all documents about public transportation in Pilsen, continues with stakeholder relation analysis and summarizing patterns of public policy creation which depict possible problems – options how to solve them followed. RESEARCH RESULTS: there is a mutual harmony of public transport documents in Pilsen, but it depends on one stakeholder without proper rule to make the final decision in policy formulation; research options could be focus on informal practises; there could be problem with a lack of information if the whole policy is depended on one stakeholder (analytically informant), who do not want to participate. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: to combine formal information in examined documents with adding informal perceptions of stakeholders (non-structured interviews are recommended); to distinguish stakeholders with direct decision making power from those, who “only” prepare strategies; to focus on agenda setting of those stakeholders that prepare strategies – they formulate problem, so they create policy informally.

The goal is this paper is to analyze the image of Germany and Germans in social media platforms of Polish Television (Telewizja Polska — TVP). Through a web content analysis the study aims at presenting main societal and political aspects in the daily functioning of public service media. The outcome is therefore presented in a broad social and historical context, including relations between Germany and Poland. Th e main factors shaping bilateral relations such as stereotypes, trans-border cooperation and the presence of the German minority in Poland are presented. The empirical part of the paper comprises content and discourse analysis of TVP’s social media related to the image of Germans and Germany over a period of three months in 2018.

The article presents the results of the content analysis of the selected examples of teacher press. The research focuses on the phenomenon of the Women’s Strike, engaging young people at an unprecedented scale in recent Polish history and significantly influencing the youth’s worldview. The research methodology, derived from Protest Event Analysis, applied quantitative and qualitative content analysis and the methods used in ecolinguistics to analyse discursive absences, defined in the form of voids, traces, and masks. The research sample comprised four titles of teacher press with issues published during and after the Women’s Strike. The analysis showed the meaningful absence of the issue of the Women’s Strike, with only some cases of presence, traces and masks, all showing an underrepresentation of the topic in the research sample. Moreover, the press research revealed significant differences between Catholic press and ideologically neutral magazines in quantitative and qualitative dimensions.

The emerging dichotomy between control and support/monitoring, which takes place when the performance of inspection at schools is at stake, was crucial to the definition of our goal: knowing the perceptions of teachers and inspectors regarding the relationship between them and the impact of this relation in the collaborative work that they must undertake in the context of the monitoring programmes. The methodological option, of a qualitative nature, comprised a case study involving five school clusters. We used questionnaires and semi-structured interviews as data collection instruments. Data were analysed through content analysis and descriptive statistical analysis. In total, the study involved 130 participants, including teachers and inspectors. The research results show the contradictory nature of the multiple activities under the responsibility of this inspection body, which means that inspectors are not always well received by teachers, even if the activities have a different nature from the evaluation and control ones.

Understanding populism as a communication strategy (Aalberg et al. 2017) that is based on both messages and styles (Engesser et. al., 2017), the present research investigates the populist elements of political discourses articulating the subject of “corruption” in the context of the attempts to change the anti-corruption legislation by the Romanian government in 2017–2018. Based on audience preferences and on the density of political communication conducted by both political and media actors, the study conducted content analysis articles from three major Romanian TV-related news portals during February 2017 and May 1 – June 5, 2018 (N=548). In addition, computer-assisted content analysis was performed on social media posts of political parties (N=875) and the posts of their leaders (N=540). The research not only identified elements of populist political communication both in the content and the style of corruption-discourses but also reflected the polarization of the Romanian media system.

W artykule przedstawiono propozycję wprowadzania znaków wodnych w środowisku dźwiękowym, które wykorzystuje analizę kontekstu muzycznego. Idea kontekstowego znaku wodnego w tym przypadku polega na wprowadzaniu informacji do oryginalnego przebiegu dźwiękowego w sposób z jednej strony niesłyszalny, a z drugiej strony modyfikujący podstawowe nośniki "treści" muzycznej. W artykule opisano sposoby modyfikacji wybranych elementów składowych muzyki.
In this paper the kind of the digital watermark embedding into an audio environment is presented. The watermark is based on analysis of music content. The main idea of the context digital watermark consists on data embedding into the source audio signal. From the one hand the watermarked signal should be inaudible, from the other hand it should change the main parts of music content. The modifications of the time duration of the sound, pitch and volume of sound are described below.

Historically, news organizations located in the heart of confl ict zones have been an im- portant player in informing the public and shaping its understanding of particular issues. To advance research relating to international confl ict coverage the current study analyzed how Georgian, Russian, and American media framed the 2008 war in Georgia. By examining coverage in Izvestia and Reson- ance as well as Th e New York Times — which is an important example of how the confl ict was presented to the American public — this paper elucidates likely determinants of the type of news and events that are prioritized by media producers proximal to the region of confl ict. We fi nd the similarities in confl ict reporting are as interesting as their diff erences.

On July 22, 2011 Anders Breivik murdered a large amount of people in Norway. In this study we investigate a sample of articles that were published about Breivik and his deeds in the Flemish and Dutch press. We will investigate these articles looking for the so-called “attribution of responsibility frame.” The murders from Breivik could be explained psychologically (“he is insane”) as well as sociologically (far-right political parties are responsible because of having spread hate speech). We present a typology of subtypes of frames. We will furthermore investigate how many times these types of frames occur in different media outlets.

Background: The 70th anniversary of the North Atlantic Pact became an impulse to write the article – to discuss the manner in which the topic was presented on Russian public television. Objectives: The aim of the article is to reconstruct NATO’s image (the military organization associating twenty-nine countries of Europe and North America) on channel Russia-1 in connection with the seventieth anniversary of the Pact, celebrated on 4 April 2019. Methods: The research materials are analytical programmes and political talk shows broadcast in March and April 2019. A content analysis method was used to examine the programmes. Results: Examination of the programmes showed that Russian public television is a mirror image of the state policy. Conclusions: Russian public state television channel Russia-1 presents a coherent narrative image of NATO regardless of the genre formula of the programme. NATO, in the assessment of selected TV programmes, is clearly viewed as an aggressive organization, encroaching closer on the borders of Russia.

Metody psychologicznej analizy treściowej zeznań świadków (Statement Validity Assessment, Reality Monitoring, Scientific Content Analysis) mogą być pomocne przy różnicowaniu szczerych i świadomie fałszowanych zeznań. W literaturze zwraca się jednak uwagę na to, że poziom błędnych identyfikacji wartości relacji pamięciowej uniemożliwia ich wykorzystanie w opiniowaniu sądowo-psychologicznym. Przyjęto założenia nowej, innowacyjnej metody analizy zeznań świadków – Modelu Wielozmiennowej Analizy Zeznań Świadków Dorosłych (MASAM). Grupa 43 sędziów kompetentnych po odbyciu szkolenia z zakresu analizy treściowej dokonała oceny wartości dowodowej zeznań świadków. Badania dowiodły, że przy wykorzystaniu MASAM możliwe jest prawidłowe zidentyfikowanie 96,87% zeznań szczerych, a prawdopodobieństwo warunkowe analizy treściowej opartej na wynikach MASAM wynosi 91,85%. MASAM potwierdził swoją wartość diagnostyczną także przy analizie zeznań fałszywych - prawdopodobieństwo warunkowe dla analiz przeprowadzonych z zastosowaniem tej metody wyniosło 69,23%, podczas gdy identyfikacja wartości dowodowej zeznania oparta na analizie z zastosowaniem trzech pozostałych metod doprowadziła do błędnych ocen w ponad połowie przypadków.
Psychological content analysis techniques developed to distinguish truthful from fabricated allegations (Statement Validity Assessment, Reality Monitoring, Scientific Content Analysis) show some promise in distinguishing truthful from fabricated statements. It is however argued, that they are not accurate enough to be admitted as expert scientific evidence in courts. A new, innovative formal assessment procedure – Multivariable Adult’s Statement Assessment Model (MASAM) was proposed. A group of 43 raters trained in statement content analysis, rated witnesses’ accounts. Studies have proven that with the use of MASAM it is possible to select 96,87% of truthful accounts and the conditional probability for content analysis results based upon MASAM analysis is 91,85%. As regards to false statements assessment, content analysis with the use of MASAM has also proven its superiority, with the conditional probability of 69,23% and three other compared content analysis techniques lead to wrong decisions in more than 50% of cases.

Opis:
One of the contemporary political powers characterised by an ambivalent attitude toward state authority are extreme organisations. Agata Kałabunowska undertakes this issue in the chapter The vision of authority in political programmes of contemporary German extreme right organisations, which aims at depicting the attitude of selected radical organisations toward a broadly defined authority. Based on qualitative content analysis of political programmes, declarations and performances of five German right-wing organisations the author tackles the question about their attitude towards the actual state authority, as well as about their desired model of executing power. Several elements of the far right’ criticism towards authorities have been analysed, such as subservience to the foreign power of international organisations, faulty immigration policies, pressure within political parties or excessive bureaucratisation. The author points out that the multitude of far right’ arguments against current authorities is not equaled by quality or quantity of suggested political alternatives. The potential efficiency of suggested solutions is uncertain, which is accompanied by lack of exact vision on how to put them in practice, which makes these proposals unrealistic. What is more, due to the fact that the German extreme right does participate in the contested political game its message seems untrustworthy. The far right appears not capable – and definitely not willing – to fix the current system, allegedly depriving the nation from its real influence on the decision making process. This observation leads to the conclusion that the far right’ ideal vision of exercising power would be based on negation or distortion of current solutions. Although it was not possible to outline how this ideal would look like in details, the author concludes that we can expect from the extreme right that its imagined political authority will be inconsistent with liberal democratic rules, albeit not necessarily authoritarian nor totalitarian.

In the past decade, more and more cities in China have adopted policies to ban motorcycles in the name of crime prevention or modernization. This paper examines the differential role of mass media in the construction of motorcycle ban policies in Southern China in general, and in the city of Guangzhou in particular. Although Guangzhou was neither the first city to ban motorcycles nor the city adopting the most radical means of implementing this policy, the media have successfully constructed a social problem of banning motorcycles in Guangzhou. Using content analysis of newspaper articles, I found that from 2000 to 2009 nearly two thirds of newspaper reports on motorcycle ban policy in China were published by newspapers based in Guangzhou. I argue that the relatively liberal media in Guangzhou played a vital role in constructing the ban policy as a social problem. In addition, I examine media discourse in constructing the problem of motorcycle ban policy and argue that although the mass media are still under strict control and serve as mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party-State, their increasing commercialization has made it possible to work as claim-makers for a social problem in China.

Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje próbę zaadoptowania nowych technik badawczych z zakresu small/big data do analizy zjawisk społecznych. Zadanie to zrealizowano na przykładzie komunikacji medialnej prowadzonej przez Związek Nauczycielstwa Polskiego (ZNP) na Twitterze w trakcie przygotowywania i prowadzenia strajku nauczycieli w 2019 roku. Strajk był szeroko komentowany w mediach tradycyjnych i internetowych sieciach społecznościowych, a żywiołowość dyskusji oraz zaangażowanie w nią ogółu społeczeństwa zacierały przekaz informacyjny każdej ze stron, utrudniając obiektywną ocenę tego zjawiska społecznego. Główny problem badawczy został sprowadzony do pytania o elementarne treści składające się na przekaz medialny ZNP kierowany do opinii publicznej. Pytania szczegółowe dotyczyły: najczęściej poruszanych tematów w dyskursie, haseł głoszonych przez związkowców oraz miejsca, jakie w przekazach medialnych zajmują uczniowie i egzaminy państwowe. Część analityczna opierała się na text mining – metodzie analogicznej do klasycznej analizy treści, lecz wykorzystującej możliwości small/big data. Baza danych składała się z 488 unikatowych tweetów pobranych z trzech oficjalnych kont ZNP na Twitterze za okres od 1 stycznia do 4 kwietnia 2019. Studium zakładało, że częstość występowania słów-kluczy lub poszczególnych tematów w postach powinna korelować dodatnio z wagą przywiązywaną przez nadawcę do danych zagadnień. Właściwe badanie udało się zrealizować w czasie prawie rzeczywistym, tj. w okresie kilku dni w czasie trwania strajku. 
This article presents an attempt to adapt new research techniques in the field of small & big data to the analysis of social phenomena. This task was carried out on the example of media communication conducted by the Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP) on Twitter during the preparation and realisation of the teachers' strike in 2019. The strike was widely commented in traditional media and on internet social networks, and the spontaneity of the discussion and the involvement of the general public blurred the information message of each party, making it difficult to objectively assess this social phenomenon. The main research problem has been reduced to the question about the elementary contents that make up the ZNP’s media message addressed to the public. The detailed questions concerned: the most frequently discussed topics in the discourse, slogans proclaimed by members of the union and the position that students and state exams have in the messages. The analytical part was based on text mining – a method analogous to the classic content analysis, but using the small & big data possibilities. The database consisted of 488 unique tweets gathered from three official ZNP’s Twitter accounts for the period 2019-01-01–2019-04-23. The study assumed that the frequency of keywords or particular topics in posts should correlate positively with the importance attached by the sender to the given issues. The actual survey was carried out in almost real time, i.e. over  a period of several days during the strike.

The article content lies in solving the important applied scientific problem of the informational resources processing intellectual systems (IRPISes) with textual commercial content linguistic analysis usage creation. The IRPISes functioning mathematical ensuring was developed. The IRPISes construction means and methods will be developed on the basis of created mathematical models. Such systems have the widespread usage, in particular for the forming, managing and maintenance of the expanding content volume in Internet, running e-business, during the online and offline content realization systems, cloud storage and cloud computing. The increase in the content volume causes the proper quality and productivity evaluation of the very content author. The increase in the evaluation criterions allows covering the broader aspect range of any author’s / moderator’s work.

The Upper Silesian conurbation is a unique area in Poland due to its polycentric nature, expressed in the interaction of a group of cities. The paper describes the transformation of the image of the “metropolis” in the Silesian Voivodeship, addressing the issues of complex relations between the cities of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Area. The results of the qualitative content analysis of strategic programs of the municipalities participating in the metropolitan union since 2017 highlighted two main categories of the concept of “metropolis” – a chance and a threat. Then, the selected aspects shaping the identity of the institution of metropolitan management were demonstrated based on the regional press discourse analysis. Thus, this paper explores a path of metropolitan integration of the municipalities in the face of the emergence of a new metropolitan institution – from rivalry tendencies based on the historical and cultural divisions of the region and the revival of local identities to conciliatory attitudes.

This article presents the results of a content analysis of the opinion weekly magazines - „Wprost”, „Polityka”, Newsweek Polska” and „Do Rzeczy”. The Polish parliamentary campaign in 2015 is the period of research. The aim of the conducted analysis is to show if the Polish politician women are presented in the publications and what image of women involved in politics is promoted by the reviewed weeklies. The collected research materials analyse through the prism of assumptions of Muted Group Theory (MGT) created by Edwin Ardener and popularized by Cheris Kramarae.

This article draws upon content analysis of the leading evening news program on Polish public television – Wiadomości. The authors examine how Germany was presented in this news service. The research sample includes every news item concerning Germany that was broadcast from March 1 to May 31 in 2015, and in the same period in 2017. The study shows that Germany is often used instrumentally and in a negative context.
Artykuł jest rezultatem analizy zawartości głównych wydań Wiadomości TVP, które zostały wyemitowane pomiędzy 1.03 a 31.05 2015 i 2017 roku. Celem artykułu jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób ukazywane w nich są Niemcy i czy można mówić o zmianie w tym zakresie, która jest wynikiem wyborów w 2015 roku. Badanie pokazuje, że tematyka niemiecka nie ma neutralnego charakteru, a Niemcy są często instrumentalnie wykorzystywane jako negatywny punkt odniesienia.

A qualitative study was carried out to survey attitudes towards and feelings associated with verbal irony among gelotophobes and nongelotophobes (gelotophobia denoting the fear of being laughed at). Sixty-one people (13 gelotophobes) were surveyed using an open-ended online questionnaire. An inductive, manifest content analysis was carried out. The analysis distinguished that non-gelotophobes treat verbal irony as a skillful way of drawing attention to absurdity. Irony was also often seen as a personal quality rather than a linguistic form. Concerns with recognizing irony appeared very rarely. In contrast, the gelotophobes’ responses displayed a more negative and one-sided attitude towards irony, describing it mostly as a way to put down and insult. These findings, though obtained in a general exploration, present a perspective complementary to that seen in linguistic and psycholinguistic literature as they draw attention to matters of personal experience of irony use. Additionally, the study’s methodological limitations and further directions for research are discussed.

The purpose of the article is an attempt to capture the way of using in the communication strategies the potential of social media on the example of the micro blog Twitter by the leaders of the Polish political parties. The main research questions concentrate around the answers to the questions of whether and how the leaders of the Polish political parties use the official accounts on Twitter for the communication with the potential voters. The detailed analysis included the activity (frequency of entries) and type and subject of tweets posted by the politicians (Donald Tusk - PO, Janusz Palikot – TR, Janusz Piechociński – PSL and Leszek Miller - SLD) on their official accounts. The study also highlighted the degree of the involvement of both the Internet users and the politicians into the emerging discussions within the given tweet/account. The detailed empirical study included the randomly selected month – January 2014. It is worth adding that it was a period preceding the official electoral campaign to the European Parliament planned for May 25, 2014. In the study of the collected material the method of the content analysis was used, both quantitative and qualitative.
Celem artykułu jest próba uchwycenia zjawiska wykorzystania w strategiach komunikacyjnych potencjału mediów społecznościowych na przykładzie mikroblogu Twitter przez liderów polskich partii politycznych. Główne pytania badawcze koncentrują się wokół odpowiedzi na pytania o to, czy i w jaki sposób liderzy polskich partii politycznych wykorzystują oficjalne konta na Twitterze do komunikacji z potencjalnymi wyborcami. Szczegółowej analizie poddano aktywność (częstotliwość wpisów) oraz rodzaj i tematykę tweetów zamieszczanych przez polityków (Donalda Tuska – PO, Janusza Palikota – TR, Janusza Piechocińskiego – PSL oraz Leszka Millera – SLD) na swoich oficjalnych kontach. W badaniu zwrócono również uwagę na stopień zaangażowania zarówno internautów, jak i polityków w rodzące się dyskusje w ramach danego tweeta/konta. Szczegółowym badaniem empirycznym objęto losowo wybrany jeden miesiąc – styczeń 2014 roku. Warto dodać, iż był to okres poprzedzający oficjalną kampanię wyborczą wyborów do Parlamentu Europejskiego planowanych na koniec maja 2014 roku. W badaniu zgromadzonego materiału posłużono się metodą analizy treści, zarówno ilościowej, jak i jakościowej.

Populism as a political position and rhetorical style is nowadays an object of comprehensive research and multi-faceted social discussions. The strong critical attitude of populists towards the status quo, towards what they regard as the chimera of democracy, is generally intertwined with the function of the media as a corrective factor with regard to government authorities. The development of mankind in the present is characterized by transformation trends in technological, economic, and social spheres. These trends impact the political environment as well. The challenges of the economic crisis, as well as the migration processes are strengthening the position of euro-skeptics and revitalize the development of populism. The present text is focused on the developments of political populism in Bulgaria. The political environment in the country is characterized by almost permanent merge of political entities, which gradually escalates the use of populist approaches, styles and rhetoric. Research attention to this political phenomenon is determined by the success of some newly formed populist parties during the new century, gradually winning considerable numbers of seats in the parliament. The use of populist phraseology is evident among all political parties in the country, whether left- or right-oriented. Bulgarian political actors of a populist trend – including political leaders and parties – have mixed, oftentimes changing, characteristics. this populist phraseology is transmitted to audiences mainly through the media. It has to be noted that the dynamics of the pre-election campaigns during the period of democratization since 1989 has been developing alongside demonopolization, liberalization and transformation of the media system. Deregulation of the radio and TV broadcasting sector dragged on, giving way to the development of two mutually bound processes – politicization of the media and mediatization of politics. The paper is structured in three methodologically interconnected parts, presenting: an overview of the process of politicization of the media and mediatization of politics in Bulgaria; an analysis of the political populist trends in the country; a discussion on the connections between populism and the media.

This paper refers to the influence of advertising on consumer behavior and the concept of the information content of the advertisement (including the methods applied to measure it). Subsequently, the article provides an introduction to the issues related to marketing communications, along with a discussion of dimensions that can be used for the analysis. The aim of this article is therefore to draw attention to the adaptation of information and communication to the buyer segment targeted by the advertisement.

Tematem artykułu jest analiza dyskursu politycznego polskich partii, biorących udział w kampanii do Parlamentu Europejskiego w 2014 r. Przedmiotem badań uczyniłem populistyczny dyskurs, w moim przekonaniu charakterystyczny dla każdej kampanii wyborczej. Przedmiotem badania zostały objęte wszystkie polskie partie polityczne, a nie tylko populistyczne. W badaniach skorzystałem z metody badawczej analizy zawartości przekazów, na grunt polski przeniesionej i twórczo dopracowanej przez Irenę Tetelowską i Walerego Pisarka. Początkowo analiza zawartości odnosiła się do badania prasy drukowanej, w późniejszym czasie metodę stosowano także w badaniach przekazów telewizyjnych. Według badań, retoryka populistyczna wyraźnie jest wpisana w kontekst współczesnej taktyki politycznej, wyłapywania elektoratu. Sięganie po retorykę populistyczną uzależnione jest od taktyki politycznej. Badania nie potwierdziły obaw przed ugrupowaniami populistycznymi, najbardziej populistyczna formacja otrzymała najmniej głosów.
The topic of this article is the analysis of the political discourse of Polish parties taking part in European Parliament campaign in 2014. The subject of my research is populist discourse, which I believe is characteristic of every election campaign. All Polish political parties have been included in the research, not only the populist ones. In the research I used the method of content analysis, applied and developed in Poland by Irena Tetelowska and Walery Pisarek. At first, content analysis was applied to printed press research, later it was used in television broadcast studies. According to research, populist rhetoric is clearly a part of modern political tactics, winning voters. Using populist rhetoric is dependent on the political tactics. Research have not confirmed concern about populist parties, the most populist party received the smallest number of votes.

Opis:
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak has been associated with many psychological and social effects, followed by a rise of fake news and false information about the condition.This study's main aim was to deeply understand people’s experiences and precise opinions about social media information on COVID-19. This qualitative study was conducted to examine the COVID-19 social media literacy using the content analysis. Participants in the study were 20 people from Hamadan Province, Iran. Data were analyzed using the MAXQDA software version 2010. Considering the results for the volume of social media literature about COVID-19, 21 subcategories and five categories were obtained. The five categories included purpose with three subcategories such as „sales for economic gain“, constructedness with five subcategories such as profiteering „advertising companies“, audience with one subcategory such as „all people“, format with five subcategories such as „highlighting the disease consequences“, and lifestyles with seven subcategories such as „drinking alcohol“. Familiarity with individuals' views based on culture and context for designing and planning educational literacy programs for media skills and competence in the new media age for distinguishing between fake and credible COVID-19 media messages and critically evaluating media content for all people is essentialespecially in the new media infodemic ecosystem. The themes obtained in the study can be used for designing educational interventions and appropriate assessment tools as well as promoting health media literacy in the field.

The recent accounts of our era usually argue that pleasure, sensuality, and sexuality play essential roles in media and consumer culture. Advertising especially is regarded as a place where rational argument is displaced by pleasure and sex. However, it is hard to find systematic empirical analysis to verify these claims. In this article, I examine the pervasiveness of the ideal of pleasure empirically in television advertising by analysing 167 Finnish advertisements. The findings suggest that the prevailing discourse about hedonistic culture and especially the hedonistic advertising culture captures something essential, but that this discourse does not tell the whole story because it does not notice the flipside, the ideal of the ascetically-oriented body that appears as frequently as the hedonistic ideal.

Opis:
Using the dictionary-based approach to measure the sentiment of finance-related texts is primarily focused on English-speaking content. This is due to the need for domain-specific dictionaries and the primary availability of those in English. Through the contribution of Bannier et al. (2019b), the first finance-related dictionary is available for the German language. Because of the novelty of this dictionary, this paper proposes several reforms and extensions of the original word lists. Additionally, I tested multiple measurements of sentiment. I show that using the edited and extended dictionary to calculate a relative measurement of sentiment, central assumptions regarding textual analysis can be fulfilled and more significant relations between the sentiment of a speech by a CEO at the Annual General Meeting and subsequent abnormal stock returns can be calculated.

Th is paper aims to develop a conceptual framework for the evaluation of other-projected1 environmental image in an international context. It is based on a case study of an Australian projection of China’s environmental image. By conducting inductive framing analysis and inductive content analysis, the research analyses 315 articles from two of the most important broadsheets in Australia — Th e Australian and Th e Sydney Morning Herald,2 from the year 2000 to 2011, and focuses on three special events. Th e fi ndings reveal four generic frames — environmental problems, environmental governance, global role, and international cooperation and other issue-specifi c frames. Th e research is a fi rst try at conceptualizing a framework for other-projected environmental image.

In the given article is functional logistic model of commercial content processing as the content life cycle stage in electronic commerce systems proposed. The model of commercial content processing describes the information resources forming in electronic content commerce systems and automation technology simplifies the commercial content mana-gement. In the given article the main problems of electronic content commerce and functional services of commercial content processing are analyzed. The proposed model gives an opportunity to create an instru-ment of information resources processing in electronic commerce systems and to implement the subsystem of commercial content formation, management and support.

Purpose. The aim of the publication is to present the issue of the content of the Polish scientific journal,,Ido Movement for Culture. Journal of Martial Arts Anthropology “on the example of the first five years (2011‒2015) of its existence. This will probably get at least partial answers to questions about 1) the impact of possible thematic diversity on the development of Polish scientific periodicals in the context of their internationalization, among others, through databases grouping this type of journale and 2) the legitimacy – from the point of view of modern science – the functioning of this type of journales. Introduction. The subject of the article is set in the context of the sociology of knowledge, and scientific information on the development of contemporary periodicals. The object of the research is a journal devoted to physical culture, cultural tourism and selected humanities sciences (philosophy, sociology, history, pedagogy and psychology), which emerged from another journal,,Ido – Movement for Culture” wchich was appeared in 2000‒2010. The periodical, on an international scale, is relatively small group of scientific journals directed towards themed arts and sports (less combat-type systems) fight. It is published by the the Scientific Research Committee of Idokan Poland Association, under the auspices of, among others, International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Scientific Society and the International Association of Sport Kinetics, in cooperation with several other institutions (eg. University of Rzeszow). Methodology. Methodology. The research method used elements of content analysis (also with elements of quantitative and qualitative content analysis). The data obtained are assigned to the appropriate category designated content of the contents is tested journals and categorization carried out by the same editorial team and publisher. Also analyzed the structure of the authors, both due to its titles and degrees, as well as the so-called. factor internationalization. We studied the types of publications posted there. Conclusions. The results indicate the diversity of thematic journal tested for this subject, together with mergers content considered by the authors in interdisciplinary shots. At the same time, you can draw conclusions about the ongoing development of this journal presented both in terms of content and the presence of the most important bases grouping the best scientific journals.
